I really find myself struggling to understand exactly what kind of game they were trying to be. I have a distaste for games that heavily push "daily" tasks, which this game does by only being allowed to gift an NPC once per IRL day. I don't want to feel forced to login every day, but this game does that.
With Maji Market, you can play the event once per IRL hour, which is hard for myself to plan around because I really can only focus my time in spurts - not for 5-10 minutes every hour. The game doesn't really respect my time, especially when considering crops only grow once an IRL hour - an apple tree takes almost 30 IRL hours to achieve all the harvests. If you can only play for an hour a day, it's a month for the entire growth cycle of the tree, and like two weeks before the first harvest? That's a long time.
And to see every patch come out with more cosmetics and even more bugs? I like having things to strive for, but the RNG of a lot of the things the bundles require are just too low for me to be able to justify the time investment to get. Plenty of other games respect my time more than Palia seems to.
The AMA from a few weeks ago was really disappointing too.
