Found 2 palium nodes in an hour today, yielding 10 palium. Both shared with me by other players. And I know the iron node locations like the back of my hand. Newbies are gonna struggle. It's fine for me, because I don't need it anymore. but I really think they turned down the iron/pal spawn rate too low. We either need fewer stones or more frequent spawns. find a high spot, say proudhorn, and take some time to look down and around.
You can spot the big and medium Palium from far away.
If you dont seem any, move to next lookout point and repeat.

it's not just the issue of rng. Ppl are gonna mine palium, leaving iron/stone. So unless someone comes to mine those, that server instance is going to be bare. And since it takes a while for nodes to respawn, it's a lot harder to force spawn palium and not have it mined by someone else than say flow trees. This change is going to be terrible for new players needing palium for tool upgrades. And switch release will have new players joining game.

you can have 8? ironboxes and 3 lockboxes, thats quiet a bit of storage..

yup, only 300 spots in the lock boxes which isn't enough for 1 of every item (resources + fish+ insects + food + huntables) and the 10,000 regular store gets eaten up remarkably quickly if you keep enough things on hand to do the weeklies, replant, and keep up ammo

1 farming expedition (flow or ore) is a good 3,000 items- if you put everything in storage so you can craft with it that's a third of your storage full

2. Do higher level players usually set up to do their all their fishing with glow worms or are they still do a large part with regular worms?

As far as I know with palium, there is a cap on how many active nodes can spawn. So if you're in a dead server, it can be a bit of a chore finding all the nodes. Whereas if you're in a lovely server, sometimes you'll even see palium spawn right near you. Best method I've found is pick a mountain in north Bahari, and mine every node you see. Rock, iron, palium - and just do laps around it

Try recasting without catching fish it drives you less crazy
And you dont have to worry about clicking fast because as long as you dont reel in the same fish will come back so it can be a lot more relaxing to just check what fish it is, pull out, recast

So, the difficulity for fishing is based by 2 aspects:

• the rarity of the fish you are trying to catch
• quality of the fishes (star quality is harder to fish than non-star quality)

Each bait gives you different fishes, there are 3 types of bait:

• no bait
• regular worms
• glow worms

higher bait = fish has more selling cost = higher exp gained

To answer your questions:

1. I usually use "Minor Rod Health Booster" attachments and drink Fisherman's Brew, that's enough for me to get even the star quality Epic fishes
2. If the purpose is leveling up, obviously Glow Worms fishing is more effective than Regular Worms. But if the purpose is to catch certain type of fishes, then you need to adjust it to your needs

I've been trying to get the Ancient fish for a while now, as it's the last fish I need for my achievement, but didn't realise I needed to complete the bundle first for it to be released into the world. So after a few days trying to get another unicorn swordfish. I completed my bundle. But the achievement "Something in the water" did not trigger. Talking to Einar or Hekla does did not trigger any special text either.. Am I missing something? 😮

Ore compass needs to be reworked. Tried it for the first time today. It highlights all iron and pal ore. Could not tell what was what with how full the radar was. Kept ending up at mini iron nodes. I don't mind it leading to iron but maybe change it to just large iron nodes so the radar isn't so overfilled and the tracking that node doesn't feel like a waste.

I recommend going to the cliffs in flooded fortress tbh there's a lot of rocks/ore deposits in a small area so break it all and wait for respawn

might also work with hideaway bluffs? there's clusters of deposits there too

i mean it goes makeshift to standard to fine, so if you have already upgraded from makeshift then you just need 5 iron bars and 10 heartwood for the rest of the recipe

When upgrading your tool, the process consumes your old tool.
Or to put it in anotherway, your old tool is part of the recipe for the new tool.

If you break your tool, i.e. use it past the repair level, it regresses to its former level.
So repair in time.

Palium now spawns anywhere that iron spawns. I've found that the mines are usually super picked over, so I like to head up to the northern edge of the map and then hop along the tops of the cliffs there to get iron - should work just fine for Palium, too

The cliffs just south of Tamala's house are also usually a good bet for iron

(you can get iron in a lot of places in southern Bahari, too, of course, but I've found that those are usually more picked-over than northern Bahari)

Probably the cave in Bahari Bay - I think, the fish are easiest to catch there and it seems not to run out of hotspots (cave in Kilima does not have hotspots). I also like to run along the coast and around the lagune in Kilima fishing only in hotspots.

Which leads to my question, with which I came here. Wiki says: "Each environment has a limited number of fishing hotspots at any given time." Does "each environment" mean each biome on each map (f.e. each river spot on Bahari map, which would explain cave's not depleting it's hotspots, btw)?

This route no longer works. They made palium spawn in the iron nodes, and changed all the palium nodes to these combined iron/pal nodes. But iron spawns a lot slower and never increases in response to players mining. So... yeah, palium spawning is super low right now, and there's no way to know if someone else came through and took all the pal or not.

I'm able to get 10-16 pal ores in a little over an hour of mining, but I'm level 150+ in mining and know the iron node locations really well.

I've sent in feedback asking S6 to increase the palium spawn rate. Other than that, there isn't really a strategy that helps. Do a big loop, mine everything, dont expect anything to respawn while you are still around.

In kilima best star fish I've got in one round is 18 fish and you can visually see your progress

Mining node don't technically respawn, they spawn in new places when the old one get mined. They can only spawn in empty spot that can host them.

I suggest saving 1 of every fish you up fish/bug to turn in for quests or bundles.
You can place starred items in the world in your housing plot, so all the fish will be in tanks if you want to. Otherwise, you can sell them.

Copper or can be found almost anywhere, but it gets gobbled up in well-traveled areas. Look around the edges on the east side of the map, or the northwest corner, or around the remembrance garden. If your Kilima map doesnt' have a lot of copper, change maps by going home and coming back.

Not sure if you're aware of this change, but Palium can spawn ANYWHERE in Bahari that iron can. So you can't camp the palium spots because there aren't any specific locations anymore. Palium spawns like flow trees now. Any node can be one when it spawns basically. I usually find 2-4 nodes every time I go to Bahari, but you have to be on the look out for them everywhere now.

Yeah, it IS a lot harder now. I've filed feedback detailing how bad it is and asking them to find some way to increase the spawn rate. The iron node spawn rate was always slow and unchanging, now we got that for pal, too.

Hmm, I used to camp palium all the time, but I always welcomed people to join me, and moved along if there were three or more people already there. You don't know the spawn rate or the spawn patterns unless you've watched them for an hour. We were helping everyone. Spawn rates were significantly higher everywhere on the map when people were camping a few locations.

But I also saw the bots.... Only a few, but I get that the only way for s6 to stop them was to change the whole pattern.

Yeah unfortunately I don’t have a steady income in the game just yet. I’m working towards the goal of first being able to make a Glow Worm farm (to sell those).

And once my Gardening skill reaches level 10, I plan to make an Apple farm with the appropriate buffs. That’s when I’ll be making plenty of gold quicker.

idk if you were told but don't forget to increase your focus buff and always have focus in your bar

if you're catching everything you can put the fish away in your storage box a lot faster and if you have an anvil and toolkits can fix your rod yourself too so you don't have to be switching maps, might save some time

or if you're recasting you're probably already good i love recasting

A little while back they changed it from decent spawn rates in specific areas to static spawn rates everywhere iron can spawn, it is much more rare at the moment

Aight so.. I'm sure people have mentioned this before but there are way too many posts to scroll through. Anyone have any ideas on how to catch the void ray? I've been in the bahari mine and the water ruins Day, Night, Morning, Evening for multiple hours. I'm at fishing skill 11 with glow worms, catching 100+ fish and finally got to a point instead of wasting GWs I'm not hooking and just recasting until it pops up and it has yet to appear. Did it just get removed all together?

recast instead i can't reccomend it enough i know you want to catch fish for money and leveling too but the sanity you lose doing that XD

yes you do not lose worms if you let the fish go and back out and recast

Chests however you can't seem to cancel from what I can tell and it uses the glow worm bait so.. when i'm recasting over and over again those are about all that takes my bait away

Yea, just let the fish let it go, reel it back in, and then cast it again to reset the fish spawn

I have the lvl 6 fine rod atm but after an hour in the water all I get in the cave are Albino Eels. Not catching them, just waiting for something else to jump

no thats bait and location and time of day related but fishing does get EASIER with better rod so you're more likely to succeeded

Hi, hi! Just curious, I was wondering if there were any guides or tips on ettiquette when it comes to Palium hunting? So far I've been calling it out in chat for others to get when I see it, but I just got to the point in the story where I should be able to get it, myself. Does everyone hit it at once, or do you just whack it once, or how does the collection feature work when there's multiple people hunting around or showing up to one location?

hitting it once guarantees you get the loot so people tend to make sure everyone who wants it hits it once if possible so if you are bothering to call it out and share it then that's the way

also you can always get palium yourself regardless of level
if you are casually playing and just pick it up and move on, you're fine
no one is expected to always share, you don't always have the time nor should you feel pressured to bother

all people ask is you don't go around sniping it from others when they're already waiting and sharing

Oh goodness, I don't need more sawmills, my rapid button pressing when getting into the crafting table has already given me three of them! That's good to know! I'm glad it managed to bypass that bug, just got to remember to repair it before it breaks!

Ohhh, I love fishing. I'm such a sucker for fishing mechanics, and I really like the way the mini game plays out.

I think you are able to get storage fairly quickly

upgrading it all the way seems pretty balanced with need, at least it was for me and I'm a bit of a hoarder

I did a lot of bug catching early on, and sold lots of flint from mining, it adds up over time. Farming is a great way to make money though, especially when you get access to preserve and pickle making :)

[GAMEPLAY and MECHANICS Observations and Opinions will follow, DISREGARD if uninterested] Based on my experience before and after the patch, it is painfully more difficult to find Palium nodes now. Iron Ore must be mined to have a chance to spawn Palium nodes, and Palium no longer spawns at it's own independent places. Those who have enough iron already are essentially forced to mine iron anyway in hopes that when they come back, Palium would have spawned. To make things even more difficult, the Mining Compass item detects both Iron and Palium making it even harder to focus on Palium Ore. Is this difficulty and increased rarity deliberate? What are the intentions of the developers with this change? And what is the general consensus of the community regarding this topic?
