it took me a while to figure out how to burn a star grade food but all i had to do was just start a sashimi recipe at star grade with a regular spice sprout

it spontaneously combusted after i looked at it for a minute

anyway, i find that it's super easy to get sweet leaf now that nobody wants it for actual cakes

petit fives actually restore a decent amount for the effort

if you don't mind purchasing a pile of ingredients, it's just corn, fruit and leaves that you'll end up turning into 400/600 energy restorers

I do not like that Petit Fives require all as Star if you say it can use star. I shipping container all my non-star fruits. But Sweetleaf drops are mostly non-star.

You can still use non-starred crops when cooking with other starred crops. When you choose the option to use starred ingredients and you don't have any starred ones for a particular one, non-starred will be used. Just remember that if recipe uses more than one crop and you have only one starred, it will still try to use starred ones and you will fail. Examples:

1. Recipe requires any spice and you don't have any starred - you can use regular.
2. Recipe requires any spice, you have 1 starred spice sprouts and regular garlic - you can't use regular garlic.
3. Recipe requires 3 apples, you have one starred apple and 3 regular - you can't make it

You can put ingredients you don't want to use in the lockbox, they wont be used (or counted for cases above).

if you select to use starred ingredients and you have any starred spices (outside of the lockbox) you will have to use those. If you lock all starred spices in the lockbox you will be able to use the unstarred ones

Make two Basic Dough
Make two Cornmeal
Make Proschappa (super fast chop rate, be ready!)
Go to the Mixing Station:
Make one Spice and Veggie Mix
Make one Bahari Mustard
Go to the Stove:
Make Duxelles
Make three Grilled Muujin (three separate cook steps)
Go back to the Prep Station:
Make one Rolled Dough
Make one Rolled Dough with Duxelles
Make one Unbaked Muujin Bahari
Finish at the Oven:

I've recently started cooking with some friends, and I've noticed that if people are using the same type of station, like the prep station, it switches to the same thing as soon as you click to craft it.
Example: When making the pies, person 1 chops the sprouts, person 2 goes to make the dough, but it has them chop sprouts instead. IS there a workaround for this? We tried to stagger start times, but it didn't help.

yes, this is a bug that has been around since the Open Beta started (at least). When using any cooking station, it will change the selected ingredient for any station with multiple ingredients to a default item.

Common workaround are lockboxing the default ingredients (like apples in apple pie), having the most difficult ingredient go first, or waiting until your assigned role is at the top of the list of ingredients.

Please file bug reports! Its important we keep pressure on the devs to fix this issue.

This is how I make Petit Fives and there is always around 1:48 minutes left on the clock ☺️:

1. Prep station: cornmeal -> fruit paste
2. Mix station: sweet leaf 2x -> frosting -> cake batter
3. Oven: bake cake batter
4. Stove: fruit drizzle
5. Take cake batter from oven
6. Prep station: add all ingredients

Cooking any dish in the kitchen is a bunch of active steps, not like campfire cooking where you just hit "make" and it's done passively. There are a variety of minigames you have to complete to cook a dish in the kitchen.

Yeah it's not super well explained. Give me a sec to get a screenshot and I'll try to explain it.

So this is what your screen should look like when you pull up a recipe.

Or if it's a complicated recipe, so of these windows may be behind some tabs like this:

Each "square" in each window is a step you need to complete at a prep station, through a minigame. The header of that window, where it says "Oven" or "Prep Station", tells you where to go to complete that step.

Some steps require that you complete earlier steps before you can complete them, like chopping up peppers before you can mix them into a pepper sauce. Things like that.

I think the only caveat with cooking in a group is that whoever is doing a specific step, as far as I know, has to contribute that ingrediant. So you also may want to game plan who's doing what, because some ingrediants might be rarer.

• 3 Prep Stations (1 Wheat, 1 Heat Root, 3 Apples)
• 2 Mixing Stations (1 Sweet Leaf, 1 Apple Filling)

2. Yes, hit 'star quality' on recipes when starting recipes. It will automatically default to normal ingredients if no starred ingredients are available. Make sure people put any starred ingredients they don't want to use in safe lockbox storage.

Ignore the recipe asking for a second dough and cornmeal as that's just a current bug*

The person doing the cooking step needs to have the involved ingredient themselves usually. You can also sometimes put down an ingredient, press F to stop the action, and then the other person could finish the step.

i think you all just didn't realize it. i don't think it was ever a thing to only use the host's materials. you need to have the ingredients on your inventory OR storage for you to do the specific step while cooking.

also, even if you're in someone else's plot, if you interact with the chests around the place, you will have access to your own storage, not the host's.

The reddit Palians found the answer! The rummage pile we are used to has in fact been converted to the Winterlights exclusive chapaa nests!
They really should have worded it better in the patch notes tbh. It sounded like the rummage pile and winter nests would coincide, but c'est la vie!
If anyone's new to the rummage pile, it only appears once a day in Kilima! During the Winterlights event it will contain Winterlights exclusive items.
The regular, non-event, rummage pile can give anything from a single potato to 5 silver ore, or even quest items!

Cooking with others - you can contribute through actions or one cheap ingredient, and get back three copies of the dish. Cake and pie parties are designed to maximize this effect. See #1143270926394335282 , Though its still fun and worthwhile if you get together in smaller groups. Also, only the starter chef needs the recipe, so you can join a party with practically no cooking skill and walk away with difficult recipes like muujin bahari, etc. The server communication problems have impacted this more than other activities, tho.

Mining is also good, the starstone income alone adds up if you break a couple dozen nodes of any type.

Gardening becomes more and more valuable as you increase in level. With the max 9 plots and using the preserve jars, and worm farms learned from Einar, you can get passive RL daily income around 40K with very little work.

Fishing gets very lucrative with glow worms. You can make decent income early on with no-bait fishing. But fishing in Bahari is bugged atm, and that's the best zone for the gold value of your fish.

Really, hunting, bugs, and furniture making are the only skills that can't make you that much money. Foraging is risky, you can pull up unopened oysters and hunt for pearls, but mining for starstones is much better.

• If the recipe had the ⭐ Star Quality Ingredients box marked by the person who started the recipe, and the ingredient she was trying to use was an essential ingredient (eg. like how Fruits are an essential ingredient for Cake), then the quality available for use would need to be starred.

• In this scenario: if you & her only had nonstar of that ingredient, it'd show up as 0.

• And if it wasn't marked as Star Quality by the recipe starter, then it'd have to be a nonstar quality ingredient, otherwise it would show up as unavailable. Ofc, again, this is assuming it was an essential ingredient. Each recipe has essential ingredients; mostly produce, meat, etc.

• In this scenario: if you & her only had Star Quality of that ingredient, it'd show up as 0.

• The last thing is needing to press the station AFTER the recipe has started, otherwise there is a common bug where it'll show as 0 ingredients. Just re-enter if this occurs (albeit I doubt this was the case).

Yes, this seems to be glitched for everyone. The best workaround is, after confirming it is glitching again, press F to halt progress on teh ingredient, then F again to restart the interaction. 90% of the time that fixes it for me. The other 10 % it stays glitched and you have to go through the fail animation many times to complete.

From my experience, it's a chance to have star. If you do the recipe faster - there's more chance for it to star, if you make no mistakes- more chance to star, if you use star quality ingredients - more chance to star... But the timing seems to be the biggest influence to get a star item once done.

CAVEAT: sometimes things despawn suddenly at 6 am or other major time markers, I think based on no one picking them for a full Palian day (hour) after they spawned.

Honestly, your BEST bet is to go to Bahari around 11:30pm game time. Watch chat or ask around midnight (12) of anyone has spotted the Flow Grove. Once it's location is announced, let them know you're "omw"! People are pretty great about waiting for all the names in chat to show up at "tap" all the trees. You'll get anywhere between 4-9 trees in a single grove and plenty of folks will gather to help bring it down 😄

Didn't see anyone reply to this... Wheat, spice sprout, and sweetleaf are the typical overprep ingredients a host will allow at a pie party. While you CAN add your apples, its the most expensive ingredient, and often a bottleneck in how many parties can be held consecutively, so folks reccomend using other things for overprep.

The other method is to press H, which would normally activate the editor mode. If you have editing permission or are on your home lot, just press H again to go back to the regular view. If you don't have editor permissions... it still removes the glitch without anything else happening. 🤷

1. When will the second grove spawn? Is it before or after 12 AM? Or they spawn at the same time?

You can get both farming tools (garden hoe and watering can) from NPC called Badruu (his appearance is wearing farmer's hat). There are two types of mushrooms currently: Mountain Morel (brown-red looking) and Brightshroom (blue looking). You can forage Morel from both Killima and Bahari. You can forage Brightshroom from Bahari. For Morel, in Killima I recommend in Maji Hallow down to Whispering Banks, in Bahari you can find them almost everywhere but I can say from Central Stable to the top area. For Brightshrooms, you can find them near the "white ruins thingy", I recommend finding them in Windy Ruins and inside Flooded Fortress

Well for one thing, you find cooking parties on the #1143270926394335282 channel. Right now you have to be careful to pick one being hosted in your server region. There are also a lot of #1135682474324807681 that organize cake parties, and those sometimes fill up with their own members without getting posted here.

The link Elf provided gives a decent description, but the recipe changed a month ago. There are now two non-ingredient roles, bakers run the oven, and spreader put the fruit frosting on top of each cake layer. These roles are notable because they are free... no ingredients required. People new to cake parties are often given these roles. It give you a chance to go to a cake party, see how the different roles work, and decide which roles you want to stock up for in the future.

Every night at 12 am server time a grove spawns somewhere in Bahari, at a random place, no more than one spawn at a time. Though if the first one isn't removed, a second one will spawn the next night, but no more than two can exist at the same time. Can be identified by the sound when it spawns and glowing pinkish mist around the area.

When you select the "Use Star Quality Ingredients" option, you will be able to use non-starred ingredients for anything you don't have a starred option for. If you don't want to use starred ingredients, put them in a lockbox, or throw them in the jammer queue until done. If you don't select this tickbox you will not be able to use any starred ingredients.

Hmm, haven't seen that before. So when stoves glitch, you can move them and they'll start working again. You might try that with your campfire. Do you have a mix of morels and brightshrooms, or all morels? I think it wants all used in the recipe to be the same type. Otherwise, I think this is a bug report.

hey, sorry to ask here, but i figured out it might be more fitting here than it is in house decor, despite fitting in both. Does anyone maybe have a kitchen design that is cooking-party friendly, and have tested it so that it works well? I have had my first small cooking party and we quickly found out the hard way that the spacing and amount of certain stations is making it hard for everyone to even see what others are doing, resulting in everyone doing the same thing multiple times and wasting resources

Best go open air and once you've set all your stations, start a dummy dish and see if all stations are not interfering. Keep stations that depend on other tasks closer for example, batters closer to leafers in cakes. Color coordinate rugs with stations, leafer -- green , fruit frosters-- pink etc etc

For me it helps when the kitchen is on a separate plot, no lag (third world internet problems)

I found the onion soup recipe at the docks pretty easy to make and good for refilling focus, especially if you use star onions. But it does take flour, which I've only seen for sale in the general store. Don't know if it can be made. But I frequently make a request for flour and have been lucky to get the requests filled. And then you need to pick a lot of wild garlic.

not really, a couple patches ago they nerfed food value, so it's no longer worth making for profit if you cook solo. If you do a cooking party (or even just cook with 1 or 2 additional ppl) it should be profitable.

tomato soup is my go too, its simple and cheap. It's unlocked by going into Reth's room during his level 3 friendship quest. When I host parties for it, I recruit four people ,plus myself, but you could definitely double up the baking role, and do it with fewer.

Getting a starred dish also has a time to finish component. It's way easier to get starred when cooking with others. Even just one or two. Sometimes you can find cooking parties for it, too. #1143270926394335282

Because there are so many materials, the more you need to make, it’s best to check how much material they have before doing it.

The best way is to put important materials in a locked box so that those materials will not be used during cooking.
