You need to be in Bahari early, they start spawning at 3am. Go to D7-ish and activate a buzzy jar. start running around from the hideaway buff fast travel, to the entrance of the mines back and forth going both through and around the bowl. Sometimes it spawns near Najuma's workshop too.... you should stumble across a couple RTBs, hopefully one of them is starred 🙂

This would be difficult. You'd have to be in the same server at the same time, or at least online together so that you can hop to their server. And by the time you got there, someone else might've run by and scared it off. You could try just putting a shout into the server when you're in bahari asking people to let you know if they find one.

The rainbow Frogbert has the same drop rate (from all rockhoppers) as the plushes that drop from common bugs (e.g., lantern bug plush, grumpy rockhopper plush), so about 2%. If you watch one of the twitch streams for an hour, you will get 3 Bee Lures. It only attracts bees. You'll get your quota in one, maybe 2 lures tops.

it took me months to get a starred one, but once I did, I started seeing them all.the.time. so I suspect the way to go about it is to go cerulean cicada hunting with someone who already has a starred one in their collection, it'll show up for them, then you can nab it. ICYMI, we updated the bot command here in the server due to repeated player reports. It seems the randomized mix comes from foraging rather than mining, and mining is the skill that provides the green eggs. That's why there is a difference between the patch notes and bot command here in discord

Hunting at 3 am to 6 am is ur best bet for Duskwings. Its where ive had the best luck at least. Don't waste lures going all day!

And use a candle? I think it is. The item that doesnt alert other insects. Just spam the moths / butterflies

Basically you server hop until you find a naturally spawned duskwing, then place some lures down. It should attract more of the same type of bug more quickly than if you hadn't found a natural spawn

You do need to catch the butterflies to free up spawn slots since they don't leave on their own, but I think it's more like, the crawling bugs can be scared off, so you don't have to waste bombs hitting them

I've been recommending the milkshake method because so many people have sworn by it, so I was kind of surprised when it wasn't making a difference in the spawn rate for us.

Has anyone else seen a sharp decrease in spawn rate of the duskwing butterflies via honey lure since yesterday? I've done 5+ lures with various groups making sure to catch all common butterflies and placing the lures in the correct location, and I haven't seen a sing DW in that time.

We were doing everything you'd normally do, including scaring away non-flyers. But two days ago I caught 25 or so regular and 2 starred DW doing the exact same thing, and I haven't seen a single spawn since then. Just seems weird.

We've noticed it's super hit or miss. We'll place a lure, get a whole bunch of duskwings, finish that one, set another one down right after and not a single one will spawn, even though it is still within their spawn time and is in the same spot. We've also noticed they really don't seem to spawn as much past about 7am, for whatever reason. It truly is all RNG, though. The milkshake method has been disproven (which I found out recently), but the person collecting the data on it hasn't retested the milkshake method since 0.193 came out, so it's always possible something has changed between that patch and the current patch.

the bahari bee will randomly spawn when you cut down a pine tree in northern bahari, the golden glory bee will randomly spawn if you cut down any tree in kilima 🙂

The bahari bee will also spawn when you shoot down a honey hive. You can bee on the lookout for those in Northern Bahari and NE Elderwoods on the outer rim of Mitana Grove.

Show up to Maji's Hollow for 3am and place a lure - my partner and I have found between 3am and 7am is the best time for getting them. Past 7am they really don't seem to spawn as much, for whatever reason. (That's just been our personal experience.) We scare all the ground bugs and catch all the common blue butterflies to make sure it keeps generating new bugs and giving more chances of a duskwing spawning. With that method we were able to get all 10 we needed

That's pure RNG unfortunately, you'll know it's starred when you see it sparkles while it flies. As sometimes that can be hard to see, I'd recommend catching all the duskwings that appear, good luck!

A naturally-spawned version of the bug you want. Like before, if you found a natural duskwing, you'd leave it alone and set up a lure nearby, because having a "natural" duskwing makes them spawn more for the lures.

fair enough to want that, but its not totally realistic to expect that from everyone. gotta remember that there are heaps of newbies around, especially as this was a bigger patch and we've got a new adventure zone coming up. i remember not knowing what a lure was, thinking it was an environmental event and not something a player had spent their resources on. it was just "woah so many bugs, other players are grabbing them so i probably should too!". its almost never with malicious intent, and i think thats important to remember.
plus console/controller players have a difficult time typing so it isn't really fair to them.
i understand the frustration if they scare away a rare bug, but you'll always see another one. i don't think its worth getting upset with other players or dampening anyones mood over it ❤️‍🩹

Hi! For duskwings, place the lure around Maji's Hollow in Kilima, near the Dragon Shrine area

For inky dragonflies, I typically just run around Bahari til I find a water source that has dragonflies already around it, then throw a lure down. There was a particular spot being recommended in here a couple times that did not work for me at all so I just go where there are already inkies and then place my lure

They sure do! We placed a few regular ol lures at the H3 grove in Bahari to kill some time before the chop. Depending where exactly the lure was placed, it spawned a combination of:

• crickets (default bug)
• Bahari bees from reading the pine trees
• garden ladybugs from reading the briar daisy spawn points
• scintillating centipedes from reading the mining nodes
• ancient amber beetles from reading the juniper trees

If you can find an isolated cliff with a choppable pine tree on it and no other spawn points to be read, it will spawn only crickets and Bahari bees

My favorite thing since the update is to join in and snipe The common blue Butterflies. I 1 get the chance to practice My throw but also 2 help get ride of the undesirable bugs for everyone so the odds of Duskwing show up is higher. I only go after Duskwing if others have also seen it.

I was stating that the smaller flow trees that can be chopped with an exquisite axe by a solo player are still being hit just once, and not being chopped down. I see this a lot as I'm playing in Bahari Bay North. So I'm assuming this is a new player unaware they can, by themselves, chop down the flow tree they are only hitting once, and there isn't much need anymore to be forced to only source your flow trees from a grove/drama.

tbh my first thought here is that I use an axe that is permanently downgraded to Fine (for charged flow tree chop reasons) and I will usually just tap saplings and young trees and leave them for others to also take down (then I go back and collect the wood). I’ve only managed to kill a muujin once, by accident (hitting one with an axe that someone else then killed). Its a bit slow going but if you can be the first one to the grove when it spawns (at midnight in game time) you can get either a tier three huntable or an epic insect (including the fairy mantis) and those sometimes are starred! I used to do it all the time when I was hunting for rtb!

Joining a current frog party may be the best way to get this done! Lots are looking for the rainbow frog plushie and many are using up their jaak o lantern lures. I have found it's much easier to get a starred pumpkin frog when you have a lot of players clearing the frogs out.

Leafstalker mantis, just pick up sweet leaf and they have a chance to pop out, the cicada I got mine at E9 and the glow bug, I got mine in the flooded fortress, but near beachcomber cove at F8 is also good

If you see a blue glow bug, don’t catch it or startle it, go abit away from it and put down a lure and it should attract more of them, hopefully a starred will spawn

If a creature or type of creatures are missing from there, try to look up their page in the search function.

Hey, did anyone else ran into the issue of putting down a honey lure and some random people just joined in without asking and scaring off most of the bugs because they didn’t even use a smoke candle? If yes, how do you guys deal with that? I mean I tried to ask them politely to either ask, or use a smoke candle, but I am just so at a lost at this point.

I mean, I would let them join if they asked, but they didn’t, and I usually either run around people using honey lures, or just use a smoke candle so I don’t mess up their chances

Not an expert and it's been a long time since I tried to catch one of those, but they usually spawn around 3 AM (in game time) in bahari and using honey lures and buzzy jars helped a lot for me

Get a buzzy jar and activate it at about 2:50am (palia time) near pulsewater plains, when you spot one, you can either catch it straight away or use it as a milkshake and go and put a honey lure down a little bit away from where it has spawned (it should spawn more RTBs)

okay you guys were right. I've been whining about the starred duskwings since the bundle board dropped. About how impossible it was. Cause in the 15 months or so of playing until then I had only ever got 1 starred duskwing. So i was peeved and annoyed they'd put in something so impossible. I loathe bug catching. And folks in here told me it sure was possible and i didnt believe them.
But i can admit when i was wrong. Mea Culpa. I just ended up in a totally random, unorganized party, and got two dozen starred duskwings. It can be done!

How does the 'milkshake methood' work? I know its involves not catching or spooking the bug you want to catch witch somehow spawns more? How does this work and how do you stop it from being spooked? (Signed up for a rtb catching party with this but don't want to mess it up)

When the host says they are doing the 'milkshake method,' they are leaving a natural spawn up somewhere away from the catching area. All you need to do is listen to the host's directions about where to stay for bug catching, and you'll be good to go! Usually the host will try to keep the natural spawn away from folks so it's not easy to scare away!

The milkshake method is a commonly recommended method. However, after reviewing player research and data (I can get you a link to that if you would like) it appears that the milkshake method does not actually attract more insects than other common methods.

Many party hosts will insist on it, though, so you may have to abide by the milkshake rules that Frogga touched on.

They're bug bombs. You throw them at insects to try and catch them. The main thing they do other than stun bugs is they won't scare other bugs if you miss what you're aiming for. That way if you have a rare bug you're trying to catch, it won't try and run away if you miss on the first few throws.

The cicadas only spawn on trees, you can't lure those afaik. So buzzy jars would be best. Snails are found on Bahari coast and brighteyes in northern Bahari, so they need separate lures

FYI, the trick to hunting Waveback Ogopuu solo is to load exactly one slowdown arrow into your arrow queue followed by a stack of fine arrows. That way you don't waste time manually switching. I get to the high ground and load up my arrows this way and can hunt a waveback as easily as an emerald ogopuu without slowdown.
