Duskwings are found around the Dragon Shrine in Killima during morning & day. I would recommend server hopping until you see one, then use it as a "milkshake" (that's where you leave one rare bug alone and don't catch it, then place a honey lure close by in the hopes of luring more bugs of the same type)

Yeah I would definitely recommend seeing if you can find a friend or two to help if you're gonna milkshake. There are always people in #1445866314949202012 hosting bug hunting parties. I personally am a bit of a loner and socialization takes a lot out of me, so I don't have a duskwing or a lot of the other special ones yet 😭

You can keep spamming bombs. For me, with how glitchy the bombs can be, spamming bombs is the safest way to catch bugs you REALLY don't want to get away. I've had some get away before, especially the ones that don't stop moving once they start. Now that I have all starred bugs, I tend to be more chill about it and wait to see if the bomb worked before throwing more.

In addition to what others have said, you should also avoid scaring or catching someone's "milkshake," I did that accidentally recently not knowing what a milkshake was and I felt terrible 😭 the milkshake method is basically when you find a rare/epic bug, then you don't catch it, and you pop up a honey lure in the hopes it'll lure in more of the same types of bugs

Tbf I run all over and up onto cliffs when I'm foraging and looking for bugs, and sometimes I don't see a lure until I've climbed up onto the cliff. I do turn around if I notice, but it's possible they were new and didn't even know what the lure was. Or it's possible they were just rude. But I try to not assume the worst if their actions don't seem obviously malicious.

That sucks 😕 They really need to change the way lures work. Every day on the subreddit there's another post either with confusion or upset about lures. And sometimes people genuinely don't know that taking a bug means the lure dropper won't get it unless they've also hit it. Some people have just decided that they should be entitled to everyone's lures, even though lures take rare resources to make. It's a mess. I've sent feedback that the person who drops the lure should just get all the bugs caught that spawn because of the lure, or within a range, or something. The more people who send feedback about it, the higher chance they'll do something.

I've been running around North Bahari for days yet haven't meet any Ancient Amber Beetle where in the world this creature hide

Unfortunately those seem to show up super rarely, and the only advice I have is to just keep checking the Maji Hollow area, and also a bit past over the bridges to that area. Catch all the blue butterflies to allow more open spots for duskwings to spawn, is another thing I've heard. But if the quest isn't an important one, do something else if searching for a duskwing is becoming not-fun, and you'll probably stumble upon one eventually. (edited typos)

Someone here might have a lure they'll do with you, though I never had any show up with lures if there wasn't already one in the area.

A milkshake is a naturally spawned bug. Once you find one, you place a lure (not close enough to spook it) and it will attract more of that bug. When you're done with your lures, you go catch the milkshake.

If you reached or haven’t yet, badruu’s friendship level to 3 and done his friendship level music to my ears quest, you’ll receive a starred raspberry beetle in your mailbox. Because I never bothered trying to hunt for that thing at the time lol, but receiving it by mail did count towards the achievement

Thats so weird, i got a starred one from auni and that knocked it off for me, are you sure it was a starred one you got in the mail?

Because if you got it, you should be able to put in a support ticket that it didnt collect it for you

Double check in your completed quests that you have finished the quest titled "music to my ears" and take a screenshot of the finished quest screen, make sure you have claimed everything from your mailbox (sometimes it takes a day or two in game to show up in your mail) and if you still have the starred beetle in your storage, take a ss of that and then a ss of your achievement progress and that it didn't tick it off for you. Hopefully that will fix it for you cause it definitely shouldve counted

I like throwing it in the cliff in f9 (i think its f) cause you get the chance of an infected wisp rockhopper, plus you get the beetles and the nightshadow butterflies which gives you around 20 each. Switch to the relic that give you more essence and stock up on elderwood bombs, its worth it

Usually for the peat i just run up and down the beach and i get 4 most times, then just server hop to a new one and do it again

It's not the most convenient to get, but if you pop a dowsing rod and run up and down the beach, you're sure to get all of them. If you don't want anything else just make sure you don't start running west if one pops up on your mini map

Also slight side bar, but i like how 2.3% of players have the starred bristlebane mane achievement but only 0.9% have all of einats pebbles lol. I feel like the pebbles are easier to get

It depends on which one it is

For example, sernuks can be one shot, elder sernuks take three, and proudhorned take more than that. Chappaas take one, the darker chappaas take two, and the magic ones take three magic arrows

For shmole hunting, I like to go to that spot near the docks and just announce in chat that I'm hunting if anyone wants to join. Usually people show up, and it's chaotic, but since the shmoles take multiple hits, you usually get at least one hit in, esp for the higher tier ones, and you end up with lots of loot.

Yes i understand that that is the goal. But i always found that the rarer the bug. The farther distance it seems to spook from. Also some of them are nigh invisible. Like the jewel wing i cant even see until im on top of it and its already spooked.
So im just saying, if i can hardly see the original bug, and it just keeps fluttering around, it seems pretty easy to mess it ip accidentally cause i walk into its spook-range.
How do people do this without accidentally messing up?

Look for people doing rtb/fairy mantis plush hunting. High chance they spawn a starred one. If you are too shy or don't want to participate in that wait for grove to spawn. You are guaranteed either an epic bug or a disco to spawn in them. The common bark cicade is just running around trees looking for the sparkle

Cicadas are only on trees, and the common ones really blend in. Either have to really pay attention to trees, or just wait until you accidentally startle them and have your bug belt mapped to a specific key so you can quickly get it out and start bombing.

No, they’re just very very rare unless you’ve been doing the milkshake method, finding a natural spawn and leaving it alone, put lure down at maji’s hallow, lots of duskwings will spawn or drop 3 lures and only catch the blue butterflies 🦋 with maybe 2 groups of people. If you’re doing this alone, it’s gonna be hard to get the plushy by yourself. K0k0 has success with plushy hunting, although it’s 5-7 hours hunting irl

RTB is just super difficult. one will spawn at 3am in the southern regions. it spooks very easily and is fast to get away. i would recommend using a smoke candle and buzzy jar to find it. Most people just throw a bug lure right before 3am for best chances.

Dunno if you still need an answer, but F9 on the ledge. Sometimes you can just stumble upon one. They can spawn with lures, but they don't always. Also some other areas around the deep woods, but can't remember coordinates.

Its a matter of personal preference, but i like hunting shmoles in the elderwood, especially the spot on the coast in Mauvais Way. Shmoles are nice because you dont have to chase them around and they respawn as you hunt!

Run around when using it. Bugs will sort of "circle" in terms of aaparition so once you know they appeared around 1 square then move to another so you have better chance at being "closer". Also depending where you're using it sometimes it's just bugs that spawn after someone mining ore/collecting forage and those will disappear fast anyway.

You could also use one of those Smoke candles too. When it comes to bug catching I like to use the smoke candles in combonation with what ever else Im using.

well easy : at the moment I'm trying to catch an infected Will O Wisp in the Elderwood. So say I spot one will o wisp in F9. It's not infected, I kill it, another one will spawn, but it'll probably be in say F6 or I8. So I'll just circle around the Deep Woods area as soon as I'm done in F9 that way I can get closer to the next spawn when it pops on the radar

And sometimes it'll just spawn in F9 again, well, no problem since I'll still be close by

not directly. the way lures work is they "copy" existing bugs, meaning you can still find the originals in the map

in fact, people hunting bugs can ruin lures because if there is only trash left to duplicate, that will happen

however, bug lures will forcefully spawn new creatures in that area.
it is not uncommon to have a rare bug that's not currently existing in the world map get spawned at a lure, it is just not guaranteed

Edit: Finally, and I'll put this one as a bonus info since I cannot prove it;
a few bugs have from experience felt to me like they have game internal spawn cooldowns or probability checks - Kilima's Duskwing will often not spawn after being caught for about ~4 in game hours, and Bahari's Rainbowtip-Butterfly often vanishes for ~8 hours.

[The info is based on me and friends catching a minimum of 3 starred bugs of each kind in September 2025 and bug hunting wasn't updated since I believe.]

My friends and I have noticed that while hunting Kilima's Duskwing, if we start at 3 AM sharp they will stop spawning around 8:30/9 AM. So I think you're right.

I've noticed that they are more of a Dawn type of bug rather than the day portion, though they spawn at both times. I would suggest starting your buzzy jar at 3 AM and trying that 🙂

Yeah with lures. But I did test the other day and was on a practically empty server during the day and got around the same results. I catch at least around 25 Duskwings per like 4 or 5 lures

Ladybugs don't give silk. But most rares do. I've gotten a ton of silk using buzzy jars in Bahari

Starred spitfire cicada was also my last bug 🤝 I used like seven buzzy jars and when I finally gave up, I found one randomly while running around. That seems to be how it goes, the game always knows and waits until you stop looking. They don't show up at lures though, so don't bother with that. Only on trees. Good luck!

Locate a natural spawn, leave it alone, drop a smoke candle as close as you can get, if you want to, not mandatory. Drop your lures and all the duskwings will spawn because my milkshake brings all the duskwings to the yard and they’re like it’s better than yours and that’s the milkshake method, also a reference from a song lol. Which you can do this for rtb and fairy mantis. Maybe stag beetle ❓👀. I’m unsure for the beetle though

I agree they are far more rare for me than almost every other bug, but buzzy jars seems pretty pointless for them as they only spawn in a small area where it's easy enough to just run around. It's just that they rarely spawn.

I would recommend using buzzy jars if you haven't already tried that. That's how I finally ended up finding mine. It was in an open field, somewhat close to the shore near that fishing shack/dock kinda thing in Kilima. I didn't have any luck with lures but buzzy jars eventually worked for me

If you're open to advice, for the azure chappa I use dispel arrows! First walk up to it without shooting, once you scare it then shoot with dispel. It will stun it (doesn't matter which one you hit, the decoys disappear and the original is stunned) then you can hit it 2 or 3 more times and you're done!

yeah Im fully aware at this point its just a skill issue lol. Sometimes i have some luck with slowdown arrows. Because that way i can tell which is the original cause it turns smoky and runs slower. But even then im usually toos low switiching too my heavier arrows. Ive tried dispel arrows too but it just runs too fast for me to hit it more than once. LIke i I said... Skill issue lol

If you scare it before hitting it with dispel though you only need to hit the moving target once! It will stun. But only if you startle without shooting it first

bibliobree explained how to hunt them in more detail a few messages up. I find azure chapaa to be the easiest magic animal to hunt alone. sernuk too since you can just chase after them, but that takes more effort and I feel like they're harder to find.

I actually just joined a party yesterday that were hunting them for hours. There were like 15 people there and the host was putting down three of the honey things at a time. They said to only go for butterflies, moths, and ladybugs. Not sure if that was because they shared a spawn with rtb and the mantis they were going for or if it was just faster to get those ones out of the way to free up spawn points. We were there for like 2-3 hours. I went through hundreds of smoke bombs, went from level, like 8 to 11. We got a few RTBs. I think most of the time I noticed it was after 3am but before, around 12pm.

oh, and the place we were doing it at was that ground level spot circled by cliffs just to the left of the Pulsewater spawn in Bahari

So I guess you could either follow in those steps or use the party site to find someone else doing something similar

You'll get starred maws with a bit of patience Need a good 2h at it tho so stock up on glow worms and eventually it'll bite 🙂 Much easier than starred mermaid which has way more bubbles and they're more sparse than the saltwater ones.

So lots of Food, fill your ammo bag with as much ammo as you can, and the amount of Honey lures is depending on how long you plan on the party lasting. Since each honey lure last 3 minutes If you want the party to last half an hour you would need 10.

I wouldn't bother with a lure personally, as a newbie, just go up and down kilima coast looking for mantis and the green millipede things..and pink ladybugs

I'd highly recommend going to bahari and using buzzy jars to hunt rares. It's a much more efficient way to grind silk versus a lure

Buzzy jars is the way as stated above however you can also mine iron/collect forages. Rare insects will pop from doing those (particularly swat leaf/briar daisy), nice way to get multiple things from a single trip 🙂

True! The scintillating centipedes especially (the pinky purple ones that come out of ores) are a great source of silk if you don't want to use jars/don't have materials to make them. I find they're surprisingly abundant while mining in Bahari.

I definitely recommend going around mining in Bahari, every rock there has a chance to spawn them, if I'm not choosy about what I mine, I can pretty easily get 50+ silk in one trip.

Elderwood; climbing hunting levels is faster in this area when you get the Wavebacks. And if you can't down them, the Green lizards are the next best creature for this, followed lastly by the Blue lizards. But also you have the option of Mitana Grove where I down the Magic Muujins for white manes.

for y'all strugglin with azure chapaa move btwn these red circles and chase or kill all chapaa till it spawns, its pr easy to cycle the spawn quick. if you havent seen one in a while chances are it spawned in the yellow circle area which you can take the hideaway bluff or pulsewater stables to beachcomber to get there faster

It may help to watch a walkthrough video to find their location on the main island. You'll need an upgraded bug belt to take them down.

They're bright neon pink, so you can't miss em once you see em.

Sometimes if your arrow is close enough to an animal, it'll register you as having contributed to the hunt, so when someone else kills it? Ta-da! 600m lootbag!
