compasses will find large nodes, both the large iron and any pallium nodes near by

just keep hitting the iron to allow more frequent chances of pallium to spawn in it's place

no idea but I do know that if you stack treasure chests there where two house parts overlap (like at the exact line of the door way) it will allow you to hang any hangable items, and then you can just pick up the chests afterwards and the hangables stay.. 😄 so that may be a trick you can use to hang it somewhere
