I like the loop that Palia has going for it. It's easy to space out and just collect things for hours if you want. I eat games like that up. Plus the NPCs actually feel alive and have little story beats I find myself caring about.

Like it looks really cool and feels really polished but man.......speaking of flowers again: the real grind is flower breeding in that game. I had to pull up a freaking Google spreadsheet to able to breed flower colors efficiently because that's the only way you unlock the other fae wings. Otherwise you're stuck with mustard yellow wings for the entirity of your playthrough.

It's really cool seeing friends who normally don't like playing farming/crafting games try Palia out and realize why I latched onto it. I need games to just turn my brain off to sometimes between runs of games where I have to use all 3 of my braincells.

The beginning is tough with money. Gardening is a good way to make passive income, but it starts being interesting when you have the seed makers. What gardening level are you and how many gardening plots do you have? It will make a huge difference if you only have 2 plots or the 9 plots available. But if you constantly buy seeds from Zeki, you'll have a very difficult time to make money.

At first, the best way to make money with gardening is to put your crops in the seed maker and sell the seeds. Especially potatoes and bok choy. Later, you'll unlock the preserve jars, and can put all other crops there (tomatoes, carrots, corn...). Potatoes and bok choy are still better sold as seeds.

While the crops are growing, mining and hunting are pretty good source of income. With mining, you'll get starstones like quartz, garnet or citrine that are pretty common but sell for a good price as a beginner.

When hunting, you can sell the fur, antlers and meat! Grill the meat in the campfire before selling. While it's the same price when the grill meat is regular quality, if it can become a star quality grilled meat that will sell for more.

Also, don't forget to use the renown in the Phoenix and Dragon shrines, especially the Phoenix to boost your XP bonus and level up faster. You'll unlock things faster, especially when gardening ! (Keep focus in your bar when harvesting, that's when you get the XP, or when you take the loot for the other skills).
