Sure but having different gifts be more special to the person than others is better than a true /false dichotomy. I get that it's about the thought. Especially when you should be able to tell certain things took my work to procure.

It would make them feel more real instead of being just a list of yes and nos.

With the starstones, there is a LOT of RNG involved. Some people here have farmed 8+ h and never seen a ruby, or one of the other stones. If they were not so heavily RNG to get, that could work. Yes, the different fish and what-nots are also RNG to get, but they are also a higher chance to get.

They yes/no list kind of adds personality to the NPC. If everyone liked the same things, it would be boring. I get the idea of an item taking more work to get giving more relationship, it could be interesting, but the gems count the same as the "loved" gifts to kind of bring balance. Especially since some of the stones are super common compared to others.

I don't think you get what I'm saying. Adding another layer of yes no would be ideal.

I'm saying a yes, a heck yes, and a "omg this is my greatest treasure" and then a no, heck no, and a "why would ever think I'd want this?" Layer of fidelity.

Especially for unique items.

Saying a flint rock I got from the rock next to Najuma = her favorite gem in the world...feels deeply impersonal.

Yeah I just think it'd be nice if the unique dialogue also came with any different it how it modified the relationship, such as the bar increasing more than normal, or even just references in later text of how you have them that item they really wanted.

Just like IRL when you gift something someone really likes and they always reference how you gave it to them.

It feels way more special because you put thought into it.

And what I was saying is the RNG of the ability to get stones is why that wouldn't really be fair. As I said, some people spent HOURS farming and didn't see some of the rarer gems.

Having some people like rare stones is just a layer of texture and you can still just talk to them until you are besties and never gift them a thing.

So whether or not its rare doesn't matter it's just a time modifier that given enough time in the game you'll get the same outcome with or without ever getting the stone.

And that is how it works, liked gifts give a certain amount, and loved gifts for the week give more. Starstones always count as a loved gift

The weekly gifts are almost entirely arbitrary cycling of their liked list.

Also diminishing returns on repeat gifts would be nice.

I think what you are looking for is really, really complex programming considering the number of items in the game are finite.

I just disagree. It's just a small list of "important items" for each new character. Takes way less work than the dialogue assuming the character system is a systemic spreadsheet.

We will just have to diagree then~ There is more than one thing that each NPC will accept that's not on their list, and it fits with their path/personality, I guess I am all for the simplicity of gifting similar things.

I am kinda easy though. IF someone brought me steak and cake every week, they would be my BFF for life.

Heck, if someone gave me something practical they know I use often every day, I will take that too. Like if someone constantly brought me greens for my bunny? Everyone will win

Too bad there are so few landscaping options.

Not being able to place paths or line them naturally makes placing houses in the woods fairly strange. Gotta find a way to line paths.

Right now I'm using light props to create lines and trying to fill the area outside them enough that you choose the path and can distinguish it.

If you pickup the room it is in, it will be added to your inventory. Best case, you placed it on a table that you can move into an empty room. The vase will move with the table and you can pickup that room without destroying one you've decorated.

You need to find all the pirate graves in the remembrance garden, and then check the alter in the middle. These graves are the ones around the outer ring of the area. It's a hidden quest that wont track.

Yea, a little tough since you can't track anything, but just go slow, and check each tombstone, or group of tombstones for the prompt to interact. Eventually you will hit them all and be good to go!

I like how you can easily get distracted by other stuff, I think that's a hallmark of a good open world game. However currently it appears somewhat hard to not just go only mining like crazy so you can sell those incredibly valuable starstones. So like, art and writing contests, pet pic challenges and such could pop up as long as someone's interested in facilitating that. I'm not sure how someone could help me with what I do specifically (short of controlling my hands which would be very cool), but if anyone has been thinking about doing community stuff, I'd encourage that. Are you familiar with the ritual that penquins do? Males find the perfect pebble and drop it at the feet of the female they wish to partner. Hubs, out on a walk at the beach one day, kept waddling up to me and dropping pebbles at my feet. Which I'd then pick up and pocket. Our sons were watching. "Mom, has he lost his mind?", ME: "Why no, he's telling me he loves just me" Stones are not junk 🪨
