Sure, it worked fine when there were fewer people playing the game and when there were fewer items in game overall (because people hadn't built them yet), but the more people & the more items, the more lag there seems to be -- and people with fewer items on their plots have less lag than those with tons of items.

Now, I'm not one of the S6 devs, so I can't guarantee that's the issue, but I've done enough betatesting to know when there's potentially a need of an items-per-plot limit.

It’s a couple of different factors at play sadly as the servers are single location right now and there was an issue with that too at some point earlier apparently. Then server capacity and increased storage space so more items etc. alot of variables annoyingly

I'm assuming the hotfix was started on late friday, but if that's wrong, and you add however many hours, let's say 4 more, it's still incredibly quick - and even if the paypal feature has been in the works it doesn't change the fact you need to test it again after patching it in from another branch on the internal testing environment

Yeah, that's the only thing that has me scratching my head. It's not consistent; some people are experiencing gradually-increasing lag while moving stuff too. I was talking mostly about the general lag in-plot rather than the known lag from decorating that devs said they were working on in prior updates.

I can contribute to the converse of this convo: I have a bajillion fences (my fences are all posts) and it does slow down progressively when I decorate, but changing to a different plot and then back to my main plot resets the lag 🤷🏻‍♀️

You don't get it. For example, the stuffed tomato recipe was a problem before the most recent hotfix. If they fix it, they've been presumedly been working on it since way before the most recent hotfix. Same with features. All the bugs haven't been introduced at the same time. Same with the lag, it's been reported ever since the initial patch, not the hotfix. They didn't just work 4 hours to fix and test it

I'm... not sure what exactly you mean by a timezone difference. A server restart does not institute any fixes, it's literally a restart of the server -- it took approx 20 minutes. A hotfix usually has a 2-hour time window slotted for it and implements changes to gameplay rather than just restarting the game server. 🙂

Okay, there's some linguistic confusion here, so let me clarify what I mean.

Today, in just under 20 minutes, the server will go down for a hotfix. This hotfix makes repairs to the game.

Last Friday evening (it was approximately 5pm Pacific time if that helps -- end of workday for S6), there was a server restart. That server restart did NOT make repairs to the game, but at the time of that restart, devs said they were working on a hotfix to be released this week. That means they have been working on the hotfix since before last Friday.

Does that clarify your confusion?

not to detract from what you are saying, but i have seen a lot of requests for it. it was almost guaranteed a lot easier to implement than fixing the majority of persistent bugs while also increasing revenue. they'd be kind of setting themselves up to fail if they refused to add a highly requested payment option like that tbh.

If they post detailed patch notes ahead of the patch and then don't add/fix part of it, it would just lead to even more people complaining/getting angry.

Well yes and no, if a server goes down it isn't actually a hotfix, but it's a common term to use for it, but that's just unneeded confusion - I get what you mean - on Friday for me - due to timezones - there was both a hotfix and a server restart on Friday for me, even if an extra 8 hours is granted instead of 4 extra or whatever, none of this changes my point, that it was an extremely quick turnaround for the "hotfix" today

oh i know, and i do hope they fix those soon. i spent an hour earlier trying to just get in to water my crops hahaha i definitely agree that i want that fixed. i just also know that they likely don't have the same people working on that and maintaining/improving their payment structure. so to me, despite wanting the crashes to be fixed first as paypal doesnt really affect me, i understand why and how this was released first. the disconnects probably has several causes, on top of everything else that may be affecting it.

as much as we all want the lag and instability to be improved, the people working on the payment structure for the game don't do code and server optimization outside of the cash shop. it's likely a much bigger task to tackle and resolve than adding new payment options that were requested.
