Free Method
To host a server on your own computer, read the selfhosting guide.
This guide goes over how to install, create, and launch a free Minecraft server on all operating systems (MacOS, Linux and Windows). The guide also guides you through installing Java and optimizing your server for better performance.
If you are installing one of our older modpacks, ignore the "README" file that is included in the serverpack files, as they have outdated information.
Paid Method
We suggest renting a server from Bisect Hosting:
Approx. $10 - $25 a month depending on what plan you choose. You can also get 25% off with Code LunaPixel.
Go here and order a plan which fits you. We suggest 1GB per player but nothing lower than 4GB as the server needs at least 3GB to run.
Go to #server-hosting for more Info!
The following advice works for both the Free and Paid methods:
Transferring Your World
If you're playing Singleplayer and want to transfer your world to your server, simply go to your modpack files and navigate to the saves folder. Inside of this folder, you will see your world saves. Rename your desired world save to world. You can then transfer this folder to your server files. If your world was hosted via world sharing, this process has to be done by the person who would click "Share World".
Fixing Lag
To resolve lag issues, simply run the !tps command in #bots and follow the directions provided.
alright my pc isnt that dog
read top
come on
!ws as well
Our modpacks don't support any mods that add singleplayer hosting / world sharing because we already provide free world sharing. The 'Essential' mod is therefore incompatible.
To share your world using our own world hosting, click the 'Open to Lan' or 'Share World' button in the game menu when in a singleplayer world, and share the world.
It will give you an address, like magma-cube.mc.lunapixel.gg, which your friends can use to connect directly to your world as if it were a server!
We still highly suggest not to play through LAN as LAN is untested and unreliable. Using it will cause longterm damage to your world.
There is no reason to use LAN, as we support both paid and free methods of hosting a server the normal way.
alright im off 2 bed goodluck everyone with ur problems

!moreinfo pls
- What Minecraft version are you using? (1.19.2, 1.20.1, ...)
- What launcher did you run Minecraft with? (e.g. CurseForge, ATLauncher, MultiMC, ...)
- Have you changed the modpack in any way? (e.g. changing mod versions, adding/removing mods)
- What version of the modpack are you using? (v11, v9, etc)
- Have you ever gotten past the crash condition without crashing, or does the game always crash?
- What steps cause the crash?
Required:
Open the game directory (right click pack -> open folder), navigate to the "crash-reports" folder and upload the latest available crash report.
If there is no crash report, navigate to the logs folder and upload "latest.log."
If there is no log, navigate to the base pack directory and upload the hs_err_pid file, if there is one.
π

If this command was run in response to your question/issue, it is likely because switching away from the launcher you are currently using would fix your problem.
From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL. Keep in mind that ATL is NOT related to TLauncher in any way, and is not a cracked launcher.
To install ATL, do the following:
1. Go to https://atlauncher.com/download. If you are on MacOS, then choose the "Jar" version under the "Other" tab.
2. Install and run the setup, then open the program.
3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATL doesn't see your account credentials.
4. Go to the Packs tab on the right, then click "Curseforge" on the left.
5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
6. Click "Install". Then, follow the on-screen directions.
7. Go to the Instances tab, and click "Play" on the modpack you downloaded. If you ever see an "Update" button on the instance, click it.
This video explains the process: https://youtu.be/xMYW1wMbmkM
To transfer your Curseforge world to ATL, simply right click the modpack on Curseforge, or click the 3 dots, then click "Open Folder". Copy the Saves folder, then click "Open Folder" on ATL and paste the Saves folder there. Do the same with the XaerosMinimap folder, or the Journeymap folder, to transfer over any waypoints you've created.
Because ATL downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. ATL also works without an internet connection (after you've installed the modpack, of course), and does not have any bloat from Overwolf. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.

i'm playing bmc4 but when i go to the end i get spawned in some dungeon instead of infront of the dragon the skeletons have 120hearts of heal with full netherite gear and an gaurdian on top of the head
any idea how i can fix the end dimention for my world?
i know how to reset the end but not how to change it
sorry i saw now
Ok, the issue is directly caused by the mods you added - please remove them
Seems like you are inside Aviary structure, which is a valid End structure. Did it spawn near End's 0, 0?
yes id spawned right inbetween the obsidian pilars i'm in spec mode right now to see what happend drag not spawning
thank you by the way
Are you on v39?
yes i am
Hmm, not sure if you can fix that. You could screenshot that generation, and make a post in #aureljs-projects to ask if that's normal spawn condition for Aviary.
Reset of End dimension would probably not help, since the structure will just regen itself, and not sure if you can change End's seed

Hi I have question about essential mod in better mc. I cant play better minecraft with essential mods because it says that essential mod is not incompatiable. What should I do to fix this?
theres any guide for the modpack ?
!ea
The Essential mod is completely incompatible with all of our modpacks, and there's no reason to use it. All of our modpacks already come with built-in, free world hosting, by clicking the "Share World' button in the Open to LAN menu. You can learn more by typing !ws in the β #bots channel. You can also run type !server in the same channel to learn how to properly host a server for better performance and more flexibility. In modpacks that aren't owned by us, you can use mods such as e4mc or WorldHost to host a server completely for free without Essential's many issues and crashes and the microtransactions that they constantly bother users with. To learn more about alternatives to the Essential mod, check out this website.

This place is FULL of skeleton spawn, ideal for making skeleton farms, haha. Lots of exp.
so you complain about essential having microtransactions but then shill bisect hosting when people ask about world sharing?
and hard code crashes with alternative?
i guess lunapixel arent the modpack creators for me XD
No shilling here - just do the free self-hosting
We made a guide, and can help you, for free, if you struggle
Bisect is for the lazy
(or busy)
yeah fair enough i just dont get why luna pixel thinks its their job to code in crashes when it sees mods the creators dont agree with
Hey.
Nobody here coded any crashes. It's just Essential being incompatible, as it's trying to modify the same menus as the World Sharing for example
That's definitely not what's going on; that's putting things in a negative light for yourself and others.
Yeah, Essential is just straight incompatible.
fair i suppose its possible that what i read wasnt accurate
if u add a mod that does the same thing as something else its gonna be incompatible
Note that Essential is also rather unstable; it's like a bunch of loosely added screws to a rumbly machine.
does it do the same thing as the built in world sharing?
(mostly due to the world corruption aspect)
Luna (in our packs) is a fork of e4mc, and basically, yeah, it does worldsharing.
ah ok
Essential just uses LAN aggressively and that's caused packet desyncs (and thus world corruption) due to long-distance LAN usage.
Essential has microtransactions as far as I know π
Yes, it's somwhat similar - but LunaPixel's solution is based on open source project, instead of closed source which does who knows what
it's not all lunas meant for though its a core mod so you cant take it out and magically use esdential
That's the least of the things that I care about. But I've seen people lose their world due to Essential
as we had someone try to yesterday
essential causes a shit ton of issues so it is marked as incompatible
And to clarify - I get $0 from anything LPS, so I'm not biased by money
It's always good to make backups of the world, especially if you're going to host your server, I think.
I just volunteer here, cause I like the community
i'm just an avid helping people person
90% of my reddit account is r/kpophelp comments
I Capas host my server to play with some friends. I'm considering whether to do it from my PC or the other, pay for a good hosting or use the old Hamachi. That always worked out for me the first time.
Instead of Hamachi you might want to check Ngrok
fair, is there a way to troubleshoot lag with the world sharing stuff cause it seemed to become unplayable after a certain point and no amount of restarting the world and stuff had any effect past that point
i dont know enough about how these connections work, is it just peer to peer?
The problem is that I don't think it's easy to use Ngrok and I don't have much knowledge to use it and the other problem is that I can't open router ports, that's where it's going to screw me, I think.
yeah i idk i think i messed my world up
won't know til i get home
π
broo
i like yelling at stupid people
i uh tried to fly around and no chunks where loading so i reloged and it kept timing me out when i tried to join back. so i restarted the server and went to work
can only pray for the best
How do they ruin their world? The game is running pretty well for me, no problem. What do they do to ruin the world? Do they start experimenting or add more mods?
they were pregenerating chunks overnight so it wouldnt lag when trying to explore
i wish someone would yell at me until my stuff worked bc modded issues make me feel dumb
ty for the attempted help again btw viviana, idk why its not detecting slimes ad entities when i try to do /kill quq
"people" will add 70 mods and update the rest and then ask why stuff isn't working
you can in fact ruin your world with adding more mods though, not all, its okay to test, with a world backup ofc in case shit hits the fan, but some will fuck it up
Can the medieval mod be added to the mod pack as well? I'd like to try the medieval mod too.
as vivana said ppl will add a bunch of stuff and update mods alr in the pack( which u shouldnt) and go
also people will just no be able to read
if i had a dollar for everytime someone screenshots the crash assistant gui
and send FUCKING SCREENSHOTS of the crash assistance menu
I have a question Im trying to run better minecraft with my friend but it keeps saying I need 2.12.31 creativecore
i wouldn't be poor anymore
I would only be interested in adding the medieval one since it also catches my attention. I don't know what interesting it will have. I still have too much to start and finish. The best.
link the mod you want to add
i can give you a good estimation on how well it will work
I have 32GB RAM so I don't think I'll be worried about the issue if it has a lot of mods, meaning I'll easily have more than 300 mods in my game haha
it's not about ram
it's about how well it will work with the pack
and if it will break anything
Just in case I'll have to make backup copies.
okay
And how do I link them to add it?
I have a question Im trying to run better minecraft with my friend but it keeps saying I need 2.12.31 creativecore
u have probably been told this but ur profile is based.
elaborate? i am confused
not that much :P
What you asked before is if you can use Better MC and Medieval MC together, use the same mod packs, and how can I link them together?
try /kill @e[type=slime]

We suggest 1GB per player but nothing lower than 4GB as the server needs at least 3GB to run.

ohhh
no
you can't do that
that will just not work
emme is right but also at first i clicked on it and didnt see the "do not interact" text and thought this was listing things about you https://has-cool.pics/chorb/i2q1MFB
no... must do modpack support...
Is it not possible, and if I put all the medieval mods in the other folder, won't it work either? Well, F
i will start posting pictures of you
just play medieval
that will not boot
and ya just play medieval
im going to leak your moms name
medieval pretty much shares the same mods
because yk same modding studio
I KNOW YLUR MOMS FULL NAME
you don't know mine
I'm playing Better but the medieval game caught my attention. I wanted to try it too.

play both?
you don't need to stay on just one pack
no lol
self-hosting is completely free
and Bisect is an actual service
Essential minecoins that children spend $80 on their moms credit card so they can buy the new emote is not a service
Of course, in my same game I have both mod packs, but I see that I can't have to finish one mod pack to try the other, but I have a long time to go, haha.
yeah i did already reply to that stuff, at some point i will learn more about hosting, but recently have just been using whatever world sharing option was available through a pack or by adding a mod like essential
I already take Minecraft very lightly at my own pace, now I'm building my world little by little, and making my farm exp in the better and all that while I explore I also build, all in survival
its horrible that that was your nickname in the screenshot
it's perfect
just use e4mc on non lps packs
honestly someone needs to make a better version of e4mc that has a friend system like essential
i will have a look at it, ty but if luna is a fork of e4mc wont it have similar issues to what I experienced with lag?
its just based on where the servers are hosted
if all of the luna servers that are located near you are occupied then you're gonna be laggier
same with e4mc or essential or worldhost
omg no i would never
you can also just host on your pc for 0 ping
thank u as well chloe
lol
yeah i mean thats the ultimate goal tbh, i guess i gotta learn about hosting, got the pc for it now so i guess its worth getting into soon
I like your name. Sorry for mentioning it, haha.
@viral garden
remember if you end up port forwarding to enable the whitelist
tho you should always do that in general
if my server is currently on version 30.5, do yall think its safe to update to the current version (v39)? both are 1.20.1
ah yeah makes sense, ty
make a backup
thank you!!
I remember playing a game and the character was called Chloe.
yes i plan to
its safe yes
always make a backup
tyty
so the UK/EU servers are relatively high traffic? or are they far from the UK?
i think all of the servers are in the US
And why do you hate it, hate it, it's bad, haha
e4mc has some UK servers maybe
is it your world lagging or is it definitely ping
ah understandable
definitely ping
like singleplayer was a solid 1k+fps, and on proper servers also was 20ms or lower ping
but my mates were having multiple seconds of ping to my world and updates seemed to be a bit weird for me locally too
I hate these places with spawners, there are so many spawn, hahaha, I get filled with skeletons and I can kill them all.
I'm playing on version BMC4. What's the difference with BMC5? Is there anything different? It's more stable. Will it be possible to transfer worlds from one version to another?
no
can't transfer worlds
There is a lot of difference between BMC4 and BMC5.
different mods
modlist difs, dif versions of minecraft, bmc5 is on neoforge, indeed a lot of differences
will be missing stuff
in general you can't move a world to a different mod pack
stuff will just be super broken
I don't know whether to switch to bmc5 or stay with bmc4. The other version is very tempting.
@viral garden Is that different than the command from the video I sent here? Iβll try when I get on if so,
does removing the comma do anything
yeah
try without the comma
and try without minecraft:
so try both of these:
/kill @e[type=slime]
/kill @e[type=minecraft:slime]
okay! i'll try that when i get on π i think ive already tried without comma, MC auto-finished the command like that.. but i will try both and report back tonight. thank you β€οΈ sorry for bothering continuously
you could also test and do /kill (player name) and see if the kill command is broken?
but it'll kill you obviously lol
i have found out it isnt
ok good
lmaoooo
lmao
while trying to wipe entities... but there is that! but i'll try both when i get on tonight. figure worst to worst i can try removing entities files and regenerating it?
dies
"ok so notes down kill command... not broken.."
my xp levels π
real.
i never regret still having copypaste shortcuts in my phone from when it was cool on twitter in like 2021
i only put it as a ss not to take up the screen w 8000 emojis
wait is it a good thing to wipe entity's every so often??? doesn't the world auto do that
it does
but
in v37 & v38
the spawners+ mod was broken
and would cause all spawners in the world to spawn mobs at all times
no matter player distance
so now everyone who updated to those versions has to kill the mobs from those spawners
as their worlds are now at the hostile mob cap
i have that for discord lol
so i can yell at people easier
which is my current issue because i have mystery slimes spawning from a spawner my partner found and doesnt remember where
which has stopped hostile mob spawn
which has made my world significantly less scary, but also kinda boring LOL

You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.
i added the 1.21 neoforge and it crashed 3 times, removed it, server works :(
do i need to remove chunky for chunk pregen to work?

I think you should download better nether 9.0.10 from the Curseforge page directly, and add it to the mods folder in the Better MC directory

thx bruder
I have a problem: I want to play with a friend from my world, and I open the LAN to make the server public (from my world), but it shows 'encrypting' on his side.
yo can somebody help me i cant open video settings when i open it my game crash
Idk how to properly report bugs since the issues page sends you to the discord but I wanted to let everyone know that in bmc5 neoforge you duplicate your backpacked backpacks (with everything inside them) when you retrieve your items from your grave and you also duplicate your dragons when you call them in the aether with your whistle and whenever you leave the aether the dragons will be at their overworld location and whistling for them will call the one left in the aether to you. Idk about singleplayer but this happens to me on my self hosted server. Sorry for the ping I chose a random staff member so this will get noticed @agile cradle
do u use certain vpn or server?
what version of the pack you on, is this on a server, what launcher you using, if a server how is it hosted
No
i sent u a msg on private

Version 27 of the pack, its running on a server downloaded through atlauncher, im playing on atlauncher and the server is hosted locally
!outdated
You seem to be using an older version of the modpack! Updates often fix issues, and yours might already be fixed, so please try again with the latest version of the modpack to see if the issue persists or not.
better not be a way to use essential, it's not needed and it's horrible as it's got issues with corrupting worlds
Ill update and report again if the issues persist

You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.
hey sorry to bother people but what version of forge to i need to install onto a server to run the BMC mod pack?
since thers a few xD
Which BMC exactly?
that one
both of the bugs still persist on the latest version. I tested it out in singleplayer
did you have keep inventory on?
no
what launcher you using
forge-47.4.0
atlauncher
mine only goes up to 1.20.1-47.3.33 not 47.4.0
Is that a paid hosting?
yeh
You might want to reach out to their customer support and ask if they can publish the one I mentioned

hi this may seem like it cheeting but I died with all of my best armor weapons and loot when i fell into the void... Is there any way I can restore my world to before i died/when i backed up my world?
I had to install this mod, since it doesn't let me play on my server with my friend

To learn more about alternatives to the Essential mod, check out this website.
it tells you exactly how to play with your friend and why you cant use it
Not sure if corpse mod allows this but some grave mods spawn a floating grave in the place you died
The free world hosting won't let me play with my friend.Γ§
hmm...okay but do you know how to restore the world when i backed it up before i died?
just replace the saves folder from your instance with the one in your backups folder
My friend sees it as encrypting and the server and the world never load.
That will do it, yea. There is also a command, if you are in creative, to just restore your body

Just copy the link. It used to let us play, but now it doesn't.
might be full, spring break for a lot of peeps
The service was busy recently, I saw a few more people complaining in the last few days
Okay, I'm more at ease because I thought the problem was me. I installed e4mc, and I'll see if it lets us. Thanks, guys and moderators.
you can't
world sharing is a fork of e4mc
in that way
it's bascially the same mod, so it'd crash cause of overlapping code
Oh, I didn't know that. So what can I do?

BMC4 1.20.1 FORGE. TREES AND LAND GET ALTERED EVERY RESTART IN MINECRAFT WORLDS. LOOKING AT THE MINI MAP YOU CAN FIND ISSUES RELATED TO THIS EASILY
Calm with the caps.
About to write the same
Now Minecraft won't close
I'm currently playing an SMP server with BMC4 (not 5) and for some reason my minimap won't change waypoint dimension sets correctly.
Going to the Aether properly changes to my Aether waypoints, but going to the Nether selects my Overworld waypoints, even though I don't have any. I have Nether waypoints and I can manually select them, but it automatically changes back to the Overworld set if I change dimensions. Is there any way to prevent this from happening/manually force a waypoint set while in a dimension?
forget it
Had to reset my computer to get it to close
in the future theres a option to force quit applications on afaik most os's

WJAT DOES ALTERNATES MEAN
Read the command
it's a command.
that is simplified
its hurting my eyes
if you read it
its too much words
start at the dang top of it
Can someone help me?
its too much words guys....
dont say that about my king cursed forge
it's instructions on how to download and move your saves to atlauncher
i hate atlauncher
curse breaks crap and hogs resources it
why
curse is your problem
NO
you can very easily move it
then you won't get to play cause they are causing the issues
but i cant move on...
then cry idk
yes you can
which version of bmc has this hud
only older versions of bmc packs have it, which isnt recommended to play on, its a mod that got replaced
it was inventory hud your looking for and it got replaced with immervie armor hud
you can attempt swapping them out if you perfer but im not sure if itd cause issues or anything, so try at your own risk
dang ok
is there any reason why they swapped it out? i think its much better than the current one
im not staff or a dev so i wouldnt know :( chloe might answer later when she backreads
ok no problem, thanks for the help tho
youre def not the only one who perfers the old one though but lmk if it works fine swapping them so i can stop tacking on the may cause shit
i dont think imma try im too lazy tbh
LMAO its all good
is there any way i could run better mc with world edit??
its fully incompatiable/also just doesnt work according to chloe
:(
axiom works
never heard of that, whats that?
or lets say, is there a way i could create a sphere with axiom?
imma try it out rn thank u
will add that to my list of alternatives when helping ppl thank u tide
should be a forge version iirc
search under mods, not modpacks
yeah im not seeing a forge port doing some googling either sadly
think they took their thing off cf but modrinths only fabric
i just want a damn sphere in my world
Could someone explain to me why there are versions of the modpack with, for example, more weapons and armor even though they are the same version?
can you eleborate on what you mean?
I play the Neoforge version of Curseforge but I watched some videos on YouTube that say it's the same modpack but in versions like Forge there are more weapon and armor mods and they say it's the official mod pack.
Sorry if you didn't understand well, I'm Brazilian and I'm having to use the translator
so neoforge is on a newer version, and has a different mod list as different mods are for different versions
anyone has a village seed for v39
but what I found strange was that in these versions the armor and weapons are stronger because I thought they would be at least similar
likely the mods with stronger armor aren't updated for neoforge versions yet
Can you tell me where I can download a more complete version?
bmc 4 is the most complete i would say
BMC 4 Forge
modpack devs are stuck waiting on mod devs to update their mods. so best thing to do is wait or try a different pack for now
So bmc 4 would be the most complete version currently?
bmc4 forge, bmc2 fabric, and older
there's really no such thing as complete in modding terms. just actively updating and abandoned
I understand, thank you very much for your help

update the modpack, not the individual mods

!ws as well
Our modpacks don't support any mods that add singleplayer hosting / world sharing because we already provide free world sharing.
There is no reason to use LAN, as we support both paid and free methods of hosting a server the normal way.

what mods were all added tothe pack
also can anyone on the server play or is it everyone experiencing crashing or disconnects like that
its just me with problems
latest would still be useful but if its not producing a crash log that might be harder to tell
send it anyway and just let it do its thing ig
Uploaded latest.log from @tepid cosmos to mclogs: https://mclo.gs/4BmOrja
only thing i can think of is reinstalling the pack fresh and readding the mods that they added into your pack again
perhaps you got a mismatch somewhere, also make sure ftb quests & its addons are also in the pack
they said they reinstalled again before so my best guess is curseforge is being gay again

You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.
why do you ask?
you shouldnt need to ask this
it would also probably be in their best interest to update the pack to v39 to begin with but who knows lol
they said v38 they think so they could get it a # off unless it did say it in the log

yeah its just generally recommended to have the latest version of stuff
i can absolutely imagine why
well stuff like modpacks dont update mods unless advised
!tps
Please follow the guide here for changing the Java version your server uses. This will improve performance dramatically. If you are on a third party server host, you likely can not change the Java version your server uses. Bisect Hosting and a few VPS providers do allow changing Java version, though, which can usually be done through your server dashboard.
The method on Bisect is to simply go to the main dashboard page, and select "GraalVM 22" as the Java distribution. If it crashes, use 21 instead.
For further performance improvements, you can also follow this guide.
Reducing server render distance in the server.properties file is also a very good way of reducing lag. Most of our modpacks include mods like Bobby and Farsight, which make it so reducing server render distance will not affect players.
If lag persists, run the following command ingame:
/spark profiler start --only-ticks-over 50
Then, send the link in this channel.
