Question about Fallout New Vegas: I'm in the process of starting a modded playthrough and Vortex is showing an esp titled FalloutNV_lang.esp. Is that supposed to be there? I'm assuming it is which leads to my next question which is my current LO okay? My load order in Vortex currently is Fallout NVesm and the esms of all of it's relevant dlcs, YUP, and the esp.

It likely due to the amount of traffic on the Creations servers. The Fallout 4 Anniversary Upgrade just dropped and that includes a ton of Creations being added to a ton of people's accounts all at once. So likely the server is just struggling to keep up right now.

I'm trying to install a couple of mods called Plasma Pistol Redesign and Plasma Rifle Redesign for Fallout 3. Under the Install section on the mod's description page it says to make sure that I have "bInvalidateOlderFiles=1" in the Fallout.ini file. Is this something that I have to add and if so, where in the .ini file do I need to place it?

That's for Fallout 4 so you'll have to adjust for Fallout 3. It's the ini close to where your game saves are

Has the FOSE been updated to work with the most current version of Fallout 3? I was trying to start FO3 via Vortex, and I was getting an error message telling me that the version I installed was incompatible with the current version of FO3. Had to scrub the whole thing and start over with out the SE which the Updated Unofficial Patch needs. Now I have to redo my mods and load order without the SE and the UUOP.

Anyone familiar with the process of adding voices to some custom dialog? I've tried so many things but no matter what the audio will not play in game.
Things I have tried to fix the voice not playing:
Removing light flag from the esp.
Putting just an xbm and lip file instead of packing them in a fuz file.
Double checking name and file path.
Putting file path in the install for the mod in my mod manager instead of just leaving it loose manually installed in my data folder.
Doublechecking that the name of the file is the exact same.
Verifiying the wav file is mono 44.1k bitrate 16k before packing into fuz file.
Generated seq file and made sure it was being put in the right place.
Tried packing fuz file into bsa file while making sure not to enable compression.
Anyone got any idea why it's not working? I'm out of ideas at this point
On the quest check the box to give you a warning if the alias doesn't fill and make sure the quest has a dialogue priority of 15 or more. Then close the CK and open it back up to see if you get a warning about the alias. If it isn't filling, then you can go from there.
Went ahead and did that but I'm not seeing any relevant errors, the dialog I want to be said was added to somebody elses quest and the quest is getting errors for their dialog topics but nothing mentioning the dialog topic I added

Hello gang, I wanted to join the server to ask a question before I spend my caps on the creation. When you respec with "Livelier Perks" does it give you back only the skill points after level 1 or does it give you the 21 you allocate when talking to Vault Dude in Santuary Hills when you started the game? Thank you!
It doesn't touch the SPECIAL points, just the stuff you do for perks. I would hold off on it right now as respec is a little buggy, but he's working on updates.

BAE doesn't support the BA2 file formats in either the 980/984 updates or the one from last week.

I've not tried it. Archive 2 was working there for me but that version of Archive 2 was keeping Archive 2 for FO4 from working on my rig.
Might have to give it a try then. BAE is annoying me by not being able to open current level archives for FO4.
I just tried it. Can confirm that it opens the archives for Starfield but as far as extraction, that I'm not sure about.

Hi all, I've been tinkering with the Fallout 4 Creation Kit and I ran into an issue.
For some reason I can only paint 4 textures per quad, as opposed to the standard 6.
Anyone familiar with this issue and fixes for it? Googling the issue has resulted in nothing much.
Im guessing Fallout 4 is able to have External assets on PS5 now? I see that FCOM & Beast Master made its way on there

I'm told you can have 4 different textures.
Then 2 slots can be of landscape textures that look the same but have different grass settings.
So 6 slots, containing a maximum of 4 textures, 6 grass settings.

Message to the mods, is there a reason you guys purged every single CBBE skin or face replacer in Creations yesterday? You have a lot of angry people on the modding forums on reddit right now who are saying you guys pulled a bunch of mods over false claims of nudity without proper investigation. Are you showing mods in your in-game library that you're not using? I was able to get up to 115 and then had the same thing happen. I counted all of the mods in the library as well as CC items and was at 256 with 116 added. I can use 115 no problem though.
I assume it's the 255 esp limit but I may be incorrect. (This is also assuming that the skins are a type of esl).

There was an accidental patch earlier that pushed the GOG version and I think a good percentage of the CC modules, the second steam patch probably cleared it all, just redownload it all again

Anyone else having issues with the new bounty hunter creation/mod being soft locked? On Xbox series X - on the quest where you have to kill the first batch of bounties, Ned and Kelly specifically. Kelly just doesn’t appear anywhere in the building she’s supposed to be in. Her quest marker just leads me to an empty elevator.
I think this must be the issue as I'm having it too. All the cc, but downloading from my library which has 260 + mods on Bethesda net, or loading my saved load order which was at 193 before got all screwed up with the patch the other day, it only downloads up to 115 to 120 of my mods. And the library within the creations menu only shows 100 of my mods, same with bookmarks. Although if I go to the Bethesda page it will show all the cc content 150+ items. I'm honestly thinking it's a mix of the 255 limit possibly still, and that the creations menu isn't optimized to show or even search and pull from more than a small section of its database.
They need to make a way to set my library on the Bethesdanet site then reorder it how I want and save that load order to be used across platforms. Console mod reorganizing is a headache. I spent 7 hours on my day off getting it perfect and playable without crashing, just to have it all unorder itself and not recognize that some were installed.
So yall know about the mechanist having an object on one of the arms that resembles a pip boy, correct? But when the sole survivor equips the mechanist armor, it simply disappears. Is there a mod that adds an option to the mechanist armor that allows the pip boy to be replaced by the sleeve? I dont want to keep my pip boy chrome, I just want to be able to wear the armor and have a cool new pip boy for just that outfit.

Hey is the sanctuary in starlight Drive-In deep clean mods old? I have the VilanceD library plug-in that is required but both of them aren't working, as the settlement borders for both settlements are not working and I don't know how to fix it

I'm using a settlement border mods like settlement borders extended and the mod all settlements extended and the DLC add-on by Neheer
I don't know what's conflicting and I hate when stuff conflict with one another
The precombine mesh sets that ship with VilanceD's mod series is somewhat outdated, sadly and need rebuilt against 'modern' standards. Settlement borders though have to be considered at generation time to be of use outside of specific settings with the actual borders as far as I remember
I think the Rebuild series by Aurie might be better, but I haven't played with it very much
Damn it there's not a lot of good mods on Xbox that rebuild the settlements.
And I'm on Xbox so I'm not sure if I can find the rebuild series

Fallout 3 isn't starting with mods installed it just backs out
Settlement rebuild mods do a lot of precombine related mesh work sadly, which inflates the filesize considerably
That's what I mean there's not a lot of good mods that rebuild the settlements and I don't know what else there is

Welcome to modding!
Plan what type of character you want to play and then find mods that fit.
Currently you're limited to 2 GB/~1.862 GiB of file space and you need the size of the mod twice in order to download. So plan for that too.
Modding BGS games has a load order. Keep like mods with like mods so you can tell if something is going to conflict in a way that keeps the mod installed first from functioning. Some mods require other mods to function. Read the descriptions to confirm if you need to install something before the mod of your choice and then patches and add ons are installed after (or below) the mods they patch.
All mods are plugins to the game.
Once you figure out your load order, don't change it during game play. The game doesn't support plugin removal. Mods sometimes come with uninstall functions but it's still not a good practice to remove things because there's no support built into the game for it. Such as removing quest mods or those that add new weapons or armors with all new legendary effects.
What is the reason why Bethesda archives only compress textures and other data (meshes, sounds, etc.) are archived but not compressed?
Certain file types don't work when compressed.

I have OC decorator installed, and it recommends you to reload it somewhere in your load order to get around the workshop menu conflict.

OC decorator requires a patch to work with the current game menu. It was created before Creation Club came out and added to the menus. You will need xEdit to resolve the load order conflict with a patch.
Unless someone created a patch for you and then you'd just install the patch below OCDecorator and the menu it is overriding.
I prefer Creative Clutter over OCDecorator. The menu is script injected and the designs for the clutter are well thought out by that team.

60% of space Starfield takes up on disc is the uncompressed archives. Only 40% are compressed textures.
Some data doesn’t work when compressed, but you can enable main compression with other tools such as bsarchpro. it can halve the main archive file size in some cases
BsArchPro can do per file compression, which helps deal with the symptom.
I need help with an issue that I'm now having:
This is my first time playing survival and with mods, but whenever I try to go up to Salem naturally, without going and visiting the rest home and the museum, and teleporting straight there into the cell, Barney rook does not even appear in the quest doesn't even trigger.
I don't know what to do and I'm freaking out.
Teleporting around triggers breaks quests and is a terrible practice. You only do that to test if interior cells are put together properly during development. Since you’re playing and not developing the game, you’ve broken it.
Start a new game and don’t cheat into places and skip the triggers.

Well, what type of game do you want to play? What type of survival mode? You obviously don’t even like it if you’re using a cheat mod to get through it. Figure out what game you want to play first and then put together a list from a search of mods with the keywords from your list. Bethesda.net has a search feature.
Google isn’t a browser. It’s a search engine. I use DuckDuckGo. I hate AI.
I’m sure there are. I don’t play survival so I don’t have a ton of experience there. However, there are some mods that I enjoy which could be helpful since fast traveling isn’t an option.

Survival in fallout changes how items spawn right? Is there like a mod that helps match the regular item respawn. And I seen SKKs mod that looks like it would help
It increases the world reset time to I think 144 in game days. If that’s what you’re speaking of. The other rate is setting the difficulty level (thus: survival mode) that influences other factors including what is spawned. SKK plays on survival so has a bunch of goodies to enhance the mode. Bionicyardiff also has some. I’ve been out of the loop for a bit creating instead of playing this year so I am not up to date on what’s currently available.

It crashes my game every time I fire the new ammo type.
Do you have munitions installed?
If not either download munitions, or try the vanilla ammo patch someone made, if the crash still happens it may be a load order conflict?
I already have downloaded munitions that's not the problem.
do you have weapon debris enabled?
That was my next guess, otherwise I’d try downloading the separate vanilla ammo patch, to see if it’s isolated to that weapon with that ammunition, are you on Xbox or pc as well? Sadly not on the discord, and if it’s pc I would say to file a bug report on nexus, after looking myself no one else seems to have an issue with that weapon on firing and having crashes, so best look into the incident in case it’s isolated to your LO

Oh ahah, yea, of course be always cautious EVEN on nexus, every once and a while (although very rarely) someone while trying to to drop a virus instead of a mod and disguise it, it’ll normally promise HUGE things, and be like only a tiny amount of memory, these mods don’t stay up long and get taken down very fast, so if unsure check the modders profile to see how many mods they’ve published! Normally a good indicator! Unless it’s a lot in a short time! Chatting about mods here is all good though you won’t get banned from this discord as far as I’m aware
I was able to re-enable my mods after I couldn't enable them temporarily, but the game broke my load order to the point where the colored satellite map for my Pip-Boy isnt colored and is not working right.
I am mad at fallout 4 right now because it broke my load order.
I don't know how to get the satellite map working again.
Without additional context, I don’t know what’s happening. It sounds to me like your load order is not properly optimized. Did you follow the proper load order template? Are you adding a bunch of mods mid-game?
Why did you disable mods? What was happening when you tried to re-enable them but couldn’t? How were you able to overcome that?
Fo4 isn’t to blame. As easy as it is to cast shade at the game, an improperly optimized LO (structure, no conflicting mods, etc.) will cause issues, some of which will only become apparent as your save progressed since more data is being processed with the save.
I’m telling you, try to make use of the subreddit I gave you previously. There’s a lot of really great resources and load order examples there.
I did follow one of the load order examples from the subreddit, and I had to reload everything back to where they were before
But the only issue I'm having since everything is working right at the moment, is how the marker for the player is a map marker rather than a small little arrow pointer

I don't know how, but some of my mods got disabled on their own—I was right in the middle of building at sunshine tidings co-op, and I exited the game for a minute to talk to a friend in a party.
When I reloaded the game, however, I tried to continue and it said some of my mods were disabled—and yes, I re-enabled those and I was able to continue my game.
But when I opened up my Pip-Boy to see if the satellite map was working, it was all orange instead of the color it should have been in the pictures for the mod itself.
I had to redownload those after deleting, closing my game to the dashboard and reopening it.
The names of map markers aren't lining up with the same color as the white map markers themselves, and arrow that marks the player is and where they're looking is a map marker.
I'm just really frustrated and angry right now because of the mod space increase being delayed and us not knowing when it will release.
But yeah, those were the events about what happened.

Satellite world map is nice but the map is always misaligned for me no matter how low I put it in the load order. Idk if it's a quirk with the series s or a mod conflict but I'd definitely run a test game to see if it's working properly.

If I recall, the original satellite map mod has a known issue where the coordinates assigned are off slightly, and another mod author fixed it.
I do not know what the porting situation is with it.
I did the XBox (Series X) update to FO4 and it is now having a CTD problem when downloading the mods. I only have about 15, but after the fifth or sixth mod it crashes back to the home screen. It's not when launching the game, it's in the mod pages prior to starting to play the game.
Tried a reset, cache clear, full uninstall and reinstall, but still happening. the XBox One in the caravan (RV) is working fine. Really don't want to have to go out to the caravan just to play FO. Is anyone else seeing this problem?
I know that the Creations menu was having a bit of a problem today (at least for me). Maybe give it another go tomorrow?

Honestly I hate that it’s been so long without actual Bethesda content all I look out for is mods these days. Like don’t get me wrong there’s so much content there but maaaan I just want some official developer made content for their games.

Restore cut content or flesh out ideas before the game launched and add them in
Shareholder priorities, would be my guess. They can squeeze more money out of the game through Creations than dedicating the resources necessary for more official expansions. This also frees up teams for other projects that they may have in the works.

Yeah but it gives me hardly any faith in any new projects 🙁 like creations and mods are great super cool but like Starfield where a lot of stuff should’ve been in the game originally is put in by mod authors it’s like…the community has more passion and vision than the studio
And honestly that’s why I buy so many creations like I want new content and paid mods feel like pseudo dlc and kind of fills in the hole but it’s not the same. There’s very few mods that people are going to look back on and remember that were pivotal for the games unlike dlcs. Like everyone remembers DLCs from the past fallouts and memories they have.
And the thing is they already have teams, kinggath, hobgoblin, nova with vigilance. While all great creation authors, if their creations were actual DLCs more integrated to the game as such they’d be even bigger hits
I think Starfield is a bit of an enigma, to be honest. We may never know what happened with that game but I think it’s clear that there was a lot of passionate ideas that were started but couldn’t be fully implemented by release. Almost like at the beginning, no one narrowed the scope of the project.
I agree with the creations part as well. I don’t mind spending money on a game I intend to play.
You make a good point with mod teams. My guess is that they all have regular jobs on top of modding so they can’t dedicate that much time for fully fleshed out DLC and even then, it wouldn’t be in BGS’s dime.

I don’t know it just, makes me sad. Clearly these games have outlived what was planned for them, and instead of capitalizing on that and making new content that would bring in more money they outsource it for whatever reason and it just feels sad. Like we’re treating these games as pseudo live service in a way but it’s half baked in its implementation and effort.
I’m still going to get creations, lots of good stuff to still be released but I don’t know, I feel like I worry more about what mods to get or how my load order looks than actually playing the game itself cause it’s unsatisfying, and I’m sure that’s a me issue as well.
Brother, I am with you on that. Between Skyrim, Starfield, and Fo4, I probably have hundreds of hours in the Creations menu and dozens in game.
Heck I’ve paid more for mods than I paid for the game and DLCs at this point
I'm trying not to be angry but I would trying to get help on an issue in my fallout 4 game.
I was currently doing the sanctuary quest where you build up defenses and shelter for sanctuary hills, and right after I built some beds, I went to talk to Sturgis and the quest log wouldn't update.
It wouldn't update to where I wouldn't be able to build the defenses to progress the quest, so I need help with what went wrong.
Hey I can't trigger the Salem quest again. I didn't teleport or use cheat terminal to do anything, I don't know what to do.
Have you tried clearing the cache and reloading a save prior to being given that quest?
I think I had this issue once before cause I had prebuilt stuff. Remove all the stuff you build and just rebuild it and it should hopefully fix itself
Is there any kind of answer to why even if you just purchase on Xbox the GOTY without the creations bundle you automatically show 3gb in downloads?
It’s a visual bug. If you clear your reserve space, it goes back to 2. Not sure why it does it but that’s alas.
But if you clear the reserve, all your mods are cleared. Just in case you weren’t aware.
Not really, it's happening in Creation Club as well as the open source mod menu. Only on the XBox X, the XBox One is fine. I can get four to download and run okay, but the 5th instantly CTD's. Even when doing one at a time in the DL. Does not matter what ones I pick.
It is a bug that several people reported in a subreddit. Once I cleared my reserve space, it went away.

So on XBox X, I completely removed FO4, cleared the cache restarted the box, installed FO4, cleared the reserved space and cache again, restarted and then tried loading CC mods. Was able to install all the CC mods and launch FO4.
Have not tried any of the open mods yet but it's looking good so far.

A noticeably updated version of the CK wiki did go live for a period of time a long while back, before being taken down again for reasons unknown. At the very least it demonstrated that some sort of work had been done on it. I'm cautiously optimistic that at some point they'd complete it and have it go live again, but there's just no way to know if/when that would be. Until then we just have to make do with the UESP backup mirrors of the old wikis. 
Never mind, I found out that you can still use VR workshop, but it won't be enabled in the creations menu.

Is Havok Sim disabled now in the Starfield CK? I've heard others say it was working and then it stopped working. Has anyoen got it to work recently?

For me, running havok sim on any physics enabled item just drops it through the environment, passing it through all objects as if it has no collision.

I really want someone to add Baylan Skoll and Shin Hatti outfits and lightsabers to creations and a mod that allows you to learn and use all 7 lightsaber combat forms so it feels more real also adding more Star Wars ships full sized like a full sized and fully skinned Ghost (as seen in rebels) using Falkland system parts and new republic cruisers (Ahsoka), an owl tech imperial light cruiser (as seen in Mandalorian). And we need more mods that add more planets from Star Wars, Star Trek into starfield

It'll never happen as F4SE relies on code injection to let plugins do what they want.
Console environments are much more security focused by design, and would actively prevent the sort of thing a F4SE plugin would want to do.

Im thinking of modding Skyrim with the Skyrim Together Reborn mod so me and my friends can play. I'd prefer not to use a mod manager since I believe if its not done right, do it yourself, so I prefer manual installations. Though, I'm struggling to find how to do it online. how do I do it?

It's like this for Starfield and Skyrim too, so I'm thinking it's a global issue with the servers
downdetector reports show it's improving. Looks like it lasted about two hours.
Here are the basic steps I use.
- I create a holding folder. This serves as an archive of all the mods I download. I don't delete this folder or any of the mods in it. If something goes wrong or if I change my mind about using a mod, I don't have to download it again, it's right there in this folder. I give this folder an easily identifiable name (such as "My Skyrim Mods.")
- I download the mod to this folder.
- I extract the contents of the mod to this folder.
- I open the folder and copy/paste the .esp file and any folders that may accompany the .esp file (mesh, texture, sounds, ect) to my Skyrim data folder (the one that contains all the other .esps and .esms).
- I use a utility called Wrye Bash to enable the mod and to sequence the .esp in my load order, if necessary. (There may be other methods to enable and sequence, but that is how I do it.)

Are ba2s just about lowering file size? If they can be unpacked to get over the ba2 mod limit... why is there a limit?
They're not just about lowering file size. They're not even primarily about lowering file size. They're primarily about keeping files related to each other together, which is important both for the backend and for consoles.
There has to be some limit on upload size or the backend would have to deal with absurd uploads. Don't forget that there's replication, there's filesystem limits, there's time required for management operations on the archives (any unpacking and scanning they might do), there's backups, etc.
Just to clarify.. 1) are you on console? 2) are you seeing 210mb and trying to a 200mb mod? 3) are you trying to download a mod but getting hit with a “not enough space” message?
If yes, this is a new function of Creations. Skyrim and Starfield also operate this way.
Someone here can give you the technical speak but essentially, the system downloads the mod and a copy of it at the same time, “opens” or unzips one of the downloaded files, and then deletes the copy.
So you need double the space to download a mod.
No problem. For now, we just need to download biggest to smallest until the console space increase.

You just hit submit from the web page then. There isn't a review process for normal creations.

Dont know if anyone here is into modding Oblivion remastered but I am trying to download plugins for OBSE (NL-Tag Remover). I have OBSE installed and it works fine but when I downloaded OBSE it did not make a OBSE/ plugin folder. There are several mods that are supposed to go into these folders but I dont have them. Can I just manually make folders named OBSE?

Some differences from earlier games:
You should never upload an ESP. In fact never even test on your ESP, ESP is for Creation Kit editing only, export to an appropriately-sized ESM before testing or uploading.
Yes, I'm aware the CK will attempt to convert to ESM for you. It will fail, randomly, leaving an ESP uploaded. Yes, still.
Create your archives with Archive2, not the CK, in advance of uploading. The CK is more reliable about this than the above, but still, "more" is not "always".
Back up your ESP before every editing session. Some mistakes are hard to fix and you just have to restore and try again. If you don't have a backup, that's "wipe the whole mod and start over from zero."

The Controlling Rights to Power Rangers are owned by Hasbro. The modder would need permission from Hasbro to publish a mod. Otherwise its lots of violations. Its like the Batman mod (which was excellent) did not have permission was poof was taken down from Nexus and I think Creations for Starfield. Bethesda has the get permission from the owner before publishing wording. I like Power Ranger but I do not think we will see it in those games.

Then, suddenly, out of the blue your Cafepress of unauthorized Buffy merch gets taken down because somebody at Warner Brothers didn't think "Wilkins for Mayor: Why settle for the lesser evil?" t-shirts were Fair Use, causing you to have to pivot to selling thongs with your PFP on them, which only sold two, leading you to just shut the whole site down. Hypothetically.

You need the respective game on PC, as mods can only be created there. Other than that, anyone can learn to mod (some people will find it easier than others), but some ideas will be more difficult to implement than others, depending on how well the engine supports them natively

Hello, im new to computer stuff and need help getting space suits, from starfield creationkit, to blender 3.6.9. If anyone can please explain it or show me a walk through I'd appreciate. Please do keep in mind I would appreciate the most dumbed down or "barney style" tutorial or instructions possible. Please pretend like I dont have any tools necessary or never installed them either. The only thing I do have is blender 3.6.9 and creation kit.
JRamosWorks Gaming on YouTube has tutorials on modifying textures with Nifskope, that's where a lot of people start. Also Kinggath has a Fallout creation kit tutorial on kitbashing, it's mostly applicable.

The loading times in Fallout 4 can be ridiculous and theres a mod that uncaps the fps during load times and recaps them before fuilly loading in, to prevent issues, my question is. Since it uncaps it. Will my pc go crazy since the fps will be so high? Like will my cpu or whatevr start screaming? I have a decewnt PC but high fps amounts make it scream

Of course if you release the mod's scripts source code or someone decompiles it they can remove the checks, but it's better than nothing. There's a number of other measures you can take if you get creative, but in general it gets more complex from there.
For Skyrim, anyways. If I remember right the Debug script is non-functional on consoles for Fallout 4, at least from what others have told me. I'm not sure if the situation is the same for Starfield.

It's an incredibly minor annoyance, breaks nothing, and the author was ill. It'll be fixed soon. If it'd actually broken anything of consequence we'd have made a temporary patch, but it wasn't/didn't.

I am sorry that my illness caused inconvenience with a quest that could be completed in under 10 minutes or dismissed from activities entirely. I know that it's the end of the world, as was the serious challenge of reading the announcements on my discord which clearly outline what is going on, or clicking a single reaction to agree to server rules and gaining access to over a hundred channels full of information, or... my youtube channel where I speak directly and openly about what I've been going through.
DarkStar update is in progress. It is large, and takes time. Day job & medical bs take precedence, because I'm human. The quest your'e so upset about is a very minor inconvenience at best, and is extremely low priority since it is A, dismissable, and B, only requires a few grav jumps to safe systems to complete.

Hi! I am having a really noob issue: I made a very simple creation for Starfield, and I am trying to publish it. I choose the esm file, but now it asks if I am sure I want to upload it without an archive. Problem is, I cannot for the life of me find any information of what an archive is, what should be in it, and how badly it needs to be included. Can someone give me a clue or point me in the right direction plz?
ok found it! The archive gather files with .pex extension, which seems to be mostly related to use-defined texturing as far as I can tell from the only source I found (a youtube video). In the case of a very simple creation like mine (new item, looks and placed like a portable stove but works as an actual cooking station so I can keep my ship tiny as I like it), it is not needed as I just reuse the base portable stove item
new question: in the editing menu in-game, the one where you decorate your ship/outpost/station, my new item is shown without the proper thumbnail, just a circled exclamation point on gray background. I would like it to be the normal portable stove icon, just like the original one. How can I do this?

Do you happen to know where the pex files should save by default? I for the life of me cannot get even fragments to run in my testing. At first I thought I was just threading the needle with somehow writing scripts the seemed to compile but ended up not doing anything in game (I’m extremely new & learning as I go).
But now I’m starting to think my ck is F’d up and not saving pex where it needs to be in order to run. Literally my quest is 2 stages, fires on container change and trigger box (both placed on items and not base) yet my first attempt to compile failed. I deleted my papyrus temp, it compiled, go to test picking up slate and big ole nothing happened.

Pex in data/scripts and psc in my documents correct? In this instance I received the fail first time right away but no successful prompt in CK after I deleted papyrus temp. Just no fail after I hit compile.
I also compile in CK with built in compiler. Should I look at another method? And thank you for replying, it’s been plaguing me for two months.
What game are you talking about?
I don't think there is another compiler apart from the Bethesda one; you can invoke it from external programs but the compiler itself usually is the same
And for quest or dialogue fragments it usually is best if you compile in CK, as the engine is very picky about their structure

PSC goes under Scripts\Source\User\(Namespace)\Script.psc
Quest fragments go under Scripts\Source\User\Fragments\Quest\Scriptname.psc. The CK will automatically put it in the correct folder when it’s created

Hi! Can someone help me? - I'm making my companion in Skyrim, and I want to know if it's possible to make different dialogues use the same script with its own name and function. For example, I tell my companion "Follow me," and he responds with randomly different dialogues, such as "Let's go!" or "Okay!" I'd like the creation kit to not create thousands of copies of the script, but to use the one with the name when compiling the script.

Depends on which game, and which bugs - some bug patches are free, and some bugs cannot be easily patched, especially not without modifying the engine itself
You may want to look again; a quick search on both google and the creations.bethesda.net website reveals that multiple mods for it do exist both on PC and xbox.

hello! i had a question about starfield CK/a part of a mod i'm working on and don't know if this is the right place to ask this.
I am trying to progress in-game time when the player interacts with a activator on a bed (effectively "sleeping") but have not been able to find anything that works. I'm faking the "sleeping" aspect by MoveTo the player to another xmarker so the screen fades to black and then returns but I want to change day to night or vice versa. Any help would be appreciated!
Use an invisible furniture marker instead and make it into a bed. When they sleep, it will be real sleep.

Patches from Bethesda are always free, and always directly applied to the game unless you disable that on your distribution platform

Mod tags would make sense. Games have them, mods should too. I don't have my mods up on Workshop, but can imagine that would be soo much easier for players to find mods.
Yes, my primary tag need for Steam is for translation mods. Since there is no effective way to filter them out when browsing new mods lol

Everything currently listed in our changelog is an issue they have not fixed. It's quite extensive. That's why people still use USSEP.

I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at, but yes, all of their game patches have been free. At no point has anyone ever been made to pay for them.
For Skyrim, the "Anniversary Upgrade" is a separate DLC package that has nothing to do with the underlying game update.
It's not charity. Someone pays for those patches, and in this case it's funded by upgrades and creation club sales.
And continued sales of the game.

Can anyone here help me with an issue I'm having with Vortex? I've been trying to play F4 but for some reason anytime I launch the game with 130 mods enabled, it instantly CTDs. It doesn't matter what mod, 129 works fine but 130 wont work at all. I went through every single mod to try and find the issue but it is just that number that breaks it
And I have played in the past with up to 220 mods enabled and it worked, but now it won't even load

You are over your archive limit. If you have the AE creations bundle you are already pushing your archives up close to the limit and with mods on top of that you are hitting the limit. 255 main/texture archive limit.
So by disabling some of the creations I can resolve this issue? Or is there a way to extend the archive limit?

If you mean for Skyrim, off the top of my head it depends* but in general no. There isn't a mechanism in place for it to dynamically add any script to any other things; you'd more or less need to either have a mod that already sets up the intended script+object combo for it or Debug Menu to spawn, or a specific mechanism for it would have to be added to handle it which can be problematic if it's a third-party script as it may necessitate a compatibility patch due to dependencies.
* There may be a way to do the precise specific task you have in mind but you'd need to clarify as your current description is too vague.

I got a mod that adds an attic to Lakeview Manor with four beds, and I also got the Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions mod that puts editor markers under various Hearthfire beds to make children sleep in them. I can move those markers from under the Hearthfire beds to the attic beds, and it does the job, the children start going up to the attic to sleep. That's great, but I was hoping to use the Hearthfire bedrooms for something else, and when I delete the original beds, the markers disappear with them, even if I placed them under modded beds. Sorry that's convoluted. I just don't see this task getting completed without placing new markers under the custom meds, but that would be a patch over a patch with a patch, if you know what I mean, because several mods are involved.
All I'm saying is that if it were achievement friendly there are many creations that I would purchase.
would anyone know why a model shows up correct when dropped, but breaks when equipped? my model is a ranger helmet + cowboy hat and only the ranger helmet is showing up

idk, im thinking it has something to do with the biped object flags. the ranger helmet has the hat flag checked, and so does the hat. im assuming that if i can find a way to uncheck the helmets hat flag, then maybe the hat will show up.

Discord's brutal about this stuff, if they suspend your account and you own a server, you have no option to transfer ownership. My old guild had to walk away from a server because the owner got permabanned for arms dealing. The server still exists, has no admins, gets hit by scammers and nobody can do anything about them.

pretty sure im the first person with custom loading screens, music, boot screens, credits changes, meshes+textures, pc dlc on ps3. As every forum on modding barley answers the question on how to even get esps working. Ive even came up with a super easy disc swap fix (you have to swap disc to enable SI, but now its saved to the same disc, so no swap)

Anyone with a bluray burner and extra disc wanna try out a Oblivion ps3 mod I made? I made it so both disc (base game+dlc) are on the same disc (granted it has a built in check to make sure you actually own both disc, which may or may not be easily bypassable, but we wont get into that). Also added pc loading screens to the game+ a new opening sequence that includes the 2k logo from the pc version. With a little bit of extra tweaking you can run dlc that microsoft bought rights to (obv I will tell you how to do it not just give you files, also I fixed an issue people complained about where meshes didnt work, so i redesigned it to run with the ps3) All stuff thought to never be possible on ps3. Im planning on maybe doing a couple texture mods, but those will take atleast multiple weeks as just getting everything running sequentially with out mod loaders and a cap of 256mb of ram is pretty painful. The effect id hope to cause with the texture changes is making it 32bit textures so I can atleast get a couple more frames found a mod on nexus and it looks somewhat transcribable.

Alas I am having a new issue trying to play. After all the work I had done, I've managed to successfully get the game running with my modlist, albeit with crashes and freezes constantly despite the stability fixes. My lates issue is that, during the quest Unlikely Valentine, the AI seems to completely turn off for my character and Nick gets stuck in one spot, preventing quest progression.
I have loaded my saves at least a dozen times, and it works just fine until this moment where he stops moving. I bring up AI because I had an issue before where my character couldn't use a workbench which I found was because the ai was shut off somehow, and it seems to be the case here again because before this point my character can sit in chairs, but when nick gets here I can't sit down anymore or do anything. Loading a save does nothing to fix this, is there anyone who knows what could be the issue?

Bethesda was actually onto something by making the map a cell based grid..
By doing that you could have more dynamic and organic features
So the idea is you overlay an invisible grid on the game world with each "cell" tracking factors like radiation, mutant presence, or settlement health and then you apply rules for cells to update based on their neighbors, so you create dyanmic effects like radiation decay, mutant invasions, etc.
Each cell would check its 8 neighbors set at inervals (e.g. every few in game hours)

I've not had any issues in the Skyrim or FO4 CK with using the Havok function to settle an object.

Ive tried using those paint cans, empty, blue, yellow, green, blood and red. It still gives me the pop up that im missing materials. And yes, I have the fusion core as well

im not quite sure where to actually post this question and it may be silly but : with the bunker home pack from creations not working, what will happen if i load my game up? i assume the furniture from the pack will just be missing. But once its working again will the furniture just reappear?

Hey there. Yeah, very rarely - I think it's a vanilla bug. I know some other authors and users on very minimal load orders have run into it, it's been 'traced' to a few other mods before (by process of elimination) but nobody's really found a cause. I've gotten it exactly once while testing RF on an otherwise empty load order and never again.
Okay, thanks for getting back to me. I'm gonna start yet another new playthrough and hope that I don't run into it again, definitely an "Immersion breaking" bug.

I'm no Fallout4 player - i play Skyrim SE. A game also from BSG. In Vanilla Skyrim you can only have one follower at a time. If you want to have more followers at the same time in Skyrim, you need a mod for that. I guess it's the same with Fallout4.

Vortex and MO2 are both decent, MO2 seems to work better in Win 10 LTSC and the IOT version (no Cortana version of LTSC) of LTSC while Vortex I've found to work with Win 11.

Hi, hoping this is the right place to ask this about the Starfield Creation Kit. Anyone know how to create perfectly flat terrain to put a ship landing marker? My current landing area makes the vehicle spawn inside the landing bay, which is hilarious but not the effect I want. Aside from the fact that half the landing legs are floating in midair and the other half are clipped into the ground, I can only guess this is because the terrain isn't suited for landing
Been messing with the landscape editor but I don't know what all those settings mean. And I just can't get the terrain flat enough
Heyo I don't know if this will help since I don't have the CK open in front of me so I am going based on memory. But the way I did the landscape to flatten it for a spaceship landing was I actualy grabbed the square landing platform and matched up the level with the landscape editor. I then took the levelling tool and dragged it from the land next to the landing pad and covered the area of the landing pad with flat terrain. Then I deleted the landing pad and placed the landing marker down. Since the landing marker is transperent its pretty easy to line it up with the flat ground. There are some great videos on the terrain editor, all of them sadly use the landing pads so there is no direct tutorial for flattening the ground for a landing marker but it is definitly doable.
You could also raise the brush size to be the same size as the landing pad and then flatten or level an area.
Hi, appreciate the tips, but I still haven't solved my problem. I tried placing my landing marker so that it's half hidden by the terrain, then trying to either fully hide it or fully reveal it. But the brush just doesn't seem to do either. I think my brush settings are just all wrong

You might have to go through your load order and disable your mods one by one, to find which one is doing it. But I suggest that you start by checking out which of your mods also affect painting armour or modify armour in some way.

Does anyone have a proven method to prevent the skyrim creations menu on Xbox from disabling/reordering my mods every time I open it?
I am sick to death of having to reorder 50+ mods every time I so much as look inside the creations menu. This has been going on for YEARS and bethesda hasn't shown interest in fixing it, so maybe someone here has found a workaround?

From what I've heard the workaround is to only open your mod list while in offline mode.

The real question is when does the creations menu screw up people's load orders? If it only does so when I press Y and go into my LO while online then I could just download the mod I want, shut the game down from the console menu and then go offline/activate the mod and put it where it needs to go in my LO - right?

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that as I don't have an xbox. You may have to just test it to see if that would work or not.

That's the one for Skyrim, which is most often where this issue is reported. The devs aren't going to fix something they haven't been told about, and you can't expect that they're quietly monitoring this Discord.
For me it’s usually if I don’t wait for the pictures to all load in when accessing the Creations Menu and accessing my LO. If I wait, then it’s fine.

Unfortunately there can't be a workaround from the end user side of things since it's a server issue.
I've heard suggestions. Going offline to reorder things (either after the fact or preemptively) is a workaround that is proven to work, among other things I've heard here and there. As opposed to always having a LO that's broken, things like that are acceptable until bethesda fixes their product.
I've had that issue, clearing reserve space fixes it but deletes your load order
i've been through that - it fixed it for about a week and then the creations menu started scrambling things again.

Hey there, I just saw this. Typically if you leave the orbit and come back they'll show up. We've also heard going to another orbit, saving, exit, reload, and go back. Seems like Papyrus gets stuck depending on which orbit you were in before going there.

Has anyone able to launch F4SE through MO2, vortex, etc... and also access to creation club store? Because I did noticed that I couldn't access to creation club store while running F4SE through MO2 (because of bethesda.net server couldn't connect it) and also, I did noticed that underneath of "Fallout Update" Logo that it's unable to get the message of the day, that indicate that it can't connect to creation club store. I'm on AE version and I haven't downgrade it since then. But, I was able to access to creation club store by running regular F4.exe through MO2. Even I did have to validate the files for FO4, too, but it didn't work after that results. Is there any suggestions or ideas that I can try it out to fix it?

hello, i have been struggling to get the fallout 4 CK to launch- the ck does not install into the base game's directory (i have tried reinstalling it several times, they are both on my D drive but in separate folders), and when i try to launch it, it fails entirely (no error, just does not run).
i have been searching for help online, but everything says to either install it through the bethesdanet launcher or links to the bethesdanet wiki- neither of these seem to exist anymore. any advice would be appreciated :3

Sounds like you might have a phishing email on your hands if the domain is missing the s.
PSA:
Steam or Bethesda or someone screwed up an update. Anyone trying to install the CK in the last week gets this: instead of installing to the game root folder, it installs to a folder called "<GameName> <AppID>" on the same drive.
CONFIRMED FIX:
- Completely exit Steam.
- Drop the contents of the CK's app-id folder into the game's folder, to put all the files where they shoulda gone.
- Go UP levels to the
steamappsfolder that FO4 or Starfield is installed in. - You will see a file called
appmanifest_<SomeNumber>.acf - If you have a lot of steam apps you will have to find the one that matches the app ID of the game you're trying. Just open the files and look, the name will be in it, if you're not sure.
- Open this file in VS Code or Notepad++ or Notepad if ya got nothin' else.
A few lines down you will see a line that says:
"installdir" "<GameRoot> <SameNumber>"
This is the error. Delete the number (and the space in front of it) so it just says
"installdir" "<GameRoot>"
Save the file. Set it to READ-ONLY until this issue is fixed, so Steam doesn't re-break it.
Profit!
This seems to be affecting both Starfield and FO4 so i wouldn't be surprised if it hit Skyrim too.
(you can then restart Steam again, set up MO2, etc)

Are you sure this is right? According to my Steam data the game's AppID is 1716740 and the CK is AppID 2722710.

The ck is installing to a directory called "Starfield <CK's App ID>"
And the manifest file plainly defines the installdir as this
I've seen a number of people reporting this issue after I experienced it myself. And sure enough, correcting the appmanifest file cleared everythjing up.
It seems to have only broken in the last week or so; since everyone (and myself) who has reported the issue, has been someone trying a fresh install of the CK within the last 5-7 days.
It's the appmanifest file of the CK that is broken, not Starfield itself.

Starfield 2722710" right next to my Starfield folder. - The file "
appmanifest_2722710.acf" insteamappswas found to have bad data in that "installdir" was being set to "Starfield 2722710" when it should be set to just "Starfield" to ensure it installs into game root.
This has only been broken for the last few days, week tops. Someone b0rked the manifest file.
so TL;DR my instructions above are to correct the CK's manifest file so it goes into game root like it should.
probably also a good idea to set the manifest to read-only until steam or whomever fixes it, otherwise it might just overwrite again -_-
...also, do you know anything about this? I see a few mods that all attempt to address Environmental Hazards. Is this explanation correct?

And no, I hadn't heard about that mod, but the symptoms it describes seem to make sense.
AFAIK the manifest files are a part of Steam's systems for managing products; but of course, someone at Bethesda would have to be responsible for providing the info it contains. Steam uses it to keep track of where the thing's installed, IF it's installed, when it was last updated, etc. So day-to-day, it's steam.
As for who fatfingered this specific entry to cause this issue, no way to know from here.
As for the weather issue, would you say it qualifies as a bug? If so i'll write it up on the tracker. It seems like enviro effects were not meant to be flagged as abiliries but as weather, which both makes sense and would allow the armor-resistances system to actually affect them.
I made tickets for the two separate issues but you can feel free to add anything that you think is relevant to the comments on them.

Well it may be a while until it gets fixed. I tried sending in a report via the Support Site. This was the response I got.

I have no idea how to get this info in front of the person(s) who need it.
