There's about 10 player homes in New Vegas. There's the penthouses in New Vegas(Lucky 38, The Tops, and Ultra-Lux). There's the Faction Safe Houses( The Legion, BoS, FotA, and NCR). Then there's The Sink(Big MT RF), Atomic Wrangler Corner Room, and the Dino Dee-Lite Motel room in Novac.

Yep, I checked the Fallout wiki, Nukapedia, and Gomorrah isn't listed. For the suits in the Ultra-Lux and The Tops, you have to win a certain number of chips in each casino. For the suite in the Ultra-Lux, it's 11,250 chips. There's no known amount for The Tops suite.

TTW is the only reliable way to play. understanding above is all that's important. you'll have a more difficult time than anyone if you choose to not install TTW. you don't need to install TTW fully. you can drop out after installing some of the memory fixes. it's your call. the video above will show you one reason why it crashes so much. there are more that the community fixed. it's on you if you want to use that or not. assuming that it'll not be usable isn't scientific and best left to the pros, meaning the TTW discord

Tested fallout 1 over and over and there's something up with the hi-res fix. it won't work properly on my rig. maybe win11. maybe not who knows. tried those first 3 bullets above. nothing fixed it. went through the config to try and fix it. nope

basically when i go through and open the screen settings or the f1_res exe -- the entire computer freezes and i'm not even recording yet

it catches up in about 20-30 seconds, but it's gonna kill all recordings so it's not usable.

this is the steam version. i dunno what the deal is

i like the core gameplay loop in fo3/nv/fo4
but i like the design and story of the game nv far better. i beat nv. i never beat fo3 or fo4. i tried over and over though.

the fact that it's a looter shooter. think about this. if fo3 was fo2 but 3D --- do you believe that nv or fo4 would exist without the extra players that being a looter shooter brought to fo3? i don't know the answer. I'm seeking an unbiased birds eye look at the situation. The real situation. That engine sucks. Next-gen UE5, now that people know what they're doing, is going to blow away whatever is being worked on next. For example, Kingmakers. That's a FPS RTS game with 4000 units on screen at once over 60fps. I can't even get 60fps in fo3 on this beast. where's the remake of fo3/fonv post success of the show?

With a title like "Fallout 3 is better than you think", it definitely leaves the room open for a push back. I've watched both videos independently and both are stupid. One is heavily flawed in it's praise and kinda annoying. The other is just annoying because someone is putting so much effort into sniping something down.

to me it's like dark souls it's a diff game i'm sure you two don't like it as much as i did, i spent over 2k hours in that speedrunning it.
my point. that game is liked because of the combat. not the exploration or story or pvp or whatever. it's the combat. the thing that drives you through the game. for some it's hard and they put the game down to come back and put it down again and come back agin to finally beat it
that's the core gameplay loop what i call. what you're doing the most.

The Combat is one aspect, but I also love reading item descriptions for more lore, exploration also plays a part. Story is definitely not the biggest focus, but it’s there to find should the Players be interested.

NMA is one of the fandoms I dislike heavily, specifically because they are stuck in the past with refusing Fallout Games outside of their precious West Coast. The thing is Bethesda is not as petty as people like to believe, they even mention Ultra Lux in 76 as a robbery having happened there prior to the bombs dropping. Ultra Lux is a location in NV.

They by no means are erasing NV from the canon as some believe, sure they never asked them to make another game in the Fallout Franchise since NV, but they have a lot of respect for them to not disregard there additions to the Fallout World, they could have made Fallout 1 and 2 Non Canon if that was the case, but they didn’t, because that is part of the series as much as NV is.

When people say Bethesda is petty because they made the better game, that’s completely wrong and would only hold more merit had they not had NV as part of the canon.

consider that they couldn't make fo1 and fo2 non-canon because their first game was fo3 and at tht time fans were already upset about going from 2d to 3d and losing something. that probably would've buried the game from anyone that cared about the story in fo1 and fo2

But the thing once again is that Bethesda is not that Petty, and Obsidian has even come out in support of Bethesda these days in regards to Fallout, even Tim Cain, on one of the series creators is happy just being a fan and was more than satisfied with the show bringing the game universe to the TV screen. I think fans try to act to much like they understand the situation better than the people actually involved and thus create this whole fake outrage aspect.

i can't even play fallout 1 or fallout 3 or new vegas on this modern rig. i wanted to be immersed in the lore due to the tv show and that i only finished new vegas, but none of the other fallout games. i started where it all began, in the begining of the story with fallout 76, the begining of the lore and I didn't have fun trying to figurure out the story, my most fun part of the game was the looter shooter aspect of the game. so i pushed fo76 under the rug as many say the story isn't even finished, so i'm thinking ok great. next!
jump into fallout 1, don't work properly. i can get it working using fallout 1 in 2 but I was trying todo a vanilla run and I don't know what else was added that shouldn't be there. so skipped those and went to fallout 3. that didn't work. then played TTW, that worked great, but then I noticed that even modern rigs can't play the game at 60.

i used to care about the lore.
there's no point until these games are remade by bethesda to work on modern rigs.

also console games do often have 100ms input latency, they smooth this over using animation blend states and the like. heck even skyrim had 500ms input lag 3rd person mode on PC as a bug for the looooongest time.

22.6 times 389 is 8791.4, which is very much less than what a Cold War power would use

However if we count Mexico and Canada that does increase

Assuming based on Mexico’s population projections, they will have 136 million.

22.6 times 136 is 3073.6

For Canada it is 50 million

22.6 times 50 is 1130

8791.4 + 3073.6 is 11, 865

Plus 1130 equals 12995

was running around fighting and dumping inv into my locker in brotherhood of steel. they guy in the room started yelling about stealing and attacked me. i reloaded and redid everything and it was fine dumped stuff and left. forgot to save and just outside got in fight and died. redid all again and when i got into city map chose 2nd floor and when it loaded i opend inv and unequipped weapons and saved. now when game loads and take a few steps and get attacked

Oh yeah I don’t disagree. Can’t even express in words how frustrating the ghost people and radio speakers were. But on the other hand the story of Dead Money had me HOOKED and actually attached to some of its characters. And you know a story is damn well written when you’re about to shed tears because of your attachment to a fictional character

For a long time I thought House was the most "balanced" option and the best for the Mojave. In a way it is but in the long run I don't think it would work, he felt powerless without the Courier after all we did for him (Even if he has a massive robot army, he won't live forever)

But well, the best way to experience new Vegas is replaying it a few times to see all the endings/factions quests. Mr House feels like the "main" quest of the game, that's for sure.

Honestly I have a bit of a debate in myself if NCR or yes man ending is best for the BOS

On one hand, if the NCR wins they won’t reform their policies, and continue to be over extended across their borders, and allow the return of the salvaged power armor

On the other hand, I can give the BOS more control and power, with a major energy station and fortified posistion, meaning they can conduct their mission

My character is a former member of the Dakota Brotherhood (I made it up) which was broken by the enclave at the Battle of Rushmore, demoralized they fled west to the NCR, becoming a courier, only to have their soul kicked into the dirt again by what happened at the divide, not only racked with survivor’s guilt, but also from failing his order more than anyone else has

innovate please, the Enclave and BoS are in all the games since 2 and you guys seems to keep the lore just how it was wit some minor tweaks here and there with underdeveloping stories and all. BoS is here since Fallout 1. Enclave is here since 2 and 3 they were the bad guys just because they were the bad guys. In 4 they returned with the nonsense of CC content and i hated that. That goes to about all the other concepts

Then you really never delved into the early Fallout History, The BOS had Tactics and Later Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, which were also gonna get cancelled Sequels involving the Brotherhood of Steel. Fallout tactics are considered spin off by many and i don't consider it's existence here. What i'm talking about is BGS lack of lore preservation/ developement. For example Supermutants everywhere and always dumb except one or two, FEV as the same, humanity unable to relearn and reborn in the wastelands, BoS everywhere, almost no new factions, etc

True justice to the lore is just… not something I agree with, when they started Fallout with 3 they were newbies and that much did show, but the way they at least explained DC being in a bad state has to do with it being hit dead on as the Capital of the US, hence why no Vegetation grew outside of Harold in Oasis, why the water was just irradiated completely, Vault 87 pouring out Super Mutants constantly since 2078, and that is why DC is ultimately just not a good place to live.

Boston had the Institute preventing the inhabitants from ever growing into a stabilized nation such as killing representatives to establish a commonwealth government so they were never gonna grow beyond their place as well.

Compare that to Fallout 1 and 2 where there isn’t many outside influences preventing them from rebuilding.

Look at the Pitt which has been bad since day 1 and is in much worse shape by comparison.

Then compare it to Atlantic City which luckily weathered the storm better early in to have a good economy going.

Point is, some locations in Fallout are not always gonna have the same benefits to grow compared to others which is realistic then all of them having that same easy rebuilding process.

As for factions I’ll get to that.

The institue is also a good faction with moral incoherences, which makes no sense, you ask their reasons and even with 10 intel. you can ''understand'' our reasons as Father said. What i am saying here is the lack of understanding that Fallout isn't about humanity only miserable state of life, but adapting to the new environment. The fact Diamong city exists even with looks cool infuriates me. The world doesn't evolve and feels almost the same as it always has been. There are many incoherences in what Bethesda does with the lore, they sould treat it better and do better with what they have in hands

Humanity doesn’t always get to evolve when certain things are preventing them from growing, which is exactly how I took DC and Boston’s Situation where they had certain threats preventing them from rebuilding better than others.

As for Factions, yes Fallout 3 wasn’t heavy with them, in 4 yes we got the Brotherhood of Steel again but we got Three Other new factions, and a lesser one with the Atom Cats. As for the Enclave, keep in mind The Enclave which is the Prewar Government has multiple outposts across the US that are hidden, different smaller splinter groups at this point doing there own thing to survive, them not being a main story in 4 is fine enough with me, they just don’t need to be at the forefront.

They have developed new lore which had a lot of weight to it such as The Pitt and the horrible situation it’s in since day 1. The Scorched in West Virginia and the story revolving all the factions there. The Lore in Atlantic City which is already growing by it’s own right early on since the War as a tourist spot essentially.

Super Mutants everywhere I kinda agree with but at the same time it’s was never the different FEV sources that bugged me and more they didn’t make the connection of Vault 87 being the reason so many Super Mutants existed out East and beyond DC since it opened in 2078.

East Coast is not the West Coast and doesn’t need to have an NCR Equivalent, really I find it more interesting that the East Coast is in worse shape and has more reasons why they haven’t developed into any real superpower in the states present there. Even then the NCR is not as big as people like to think they are, The 5 States of the NCR is literally Cali divided in 5 different parts and even then they were having a tough time in Vegas because they tried expanding to much to soon, compare that to the other 49 States and that’s literally rather small by comparison.

Being a Vault Dweller is whatever, it’s literally not much of a reason to be upset about because your not anything else, but the family thing is one that needs to change.

They have done new lore, I get what your saying is to stop using things so much introduced in earlier titles in the newer games but they have also made there own lore besides using those elements as well as adding locations with their own lore to the setting. The Pitt doesn’t even have Super Mutants or Brotherhood, Atlantic City doesn’t even have Super Mutants or The Brotherhood, it had 3 New Factions. Point is 76 is adding a bunch of different things compared to even 3 and 4 in this regard as well as new creatures, they have started straying away from the older stuff lately.

You probably have a lot of reasons not to be happy with them reusing stuff introduced from Fallout 1 and 2 but I honestly don’t have much reason to be these days. I would care more if all they did was reuse Super Mutants, Brotherhood and Enclave, but they don’t and still did more of their own stuff while adding new factions, creatures and lore.

76 has been more diverse for Factions these days and with it being an Online game continually adding that benefit is there to see new creatures and factions.

Also Fallout 76 doesn’t have a “Find family member” Storyline, so there is that.

Eh, there are getting to the point where they keep reusing stuff. BoS is ok imo because each of them are different. The one in Fallout 3 is a completely different model than Fallout 4. However, Supermutants have just regressed and the Enclave is underwhelming in Bethesda Fallout.

Honestly I like the idea that Smart Super Mutants are rare in the East Coast compared to the West and are prone to more barbaric actions. That’s just me tho and I do think it would be interesting at some point for there to be a Smart Super Mutant Community at war with there more savage brethren.

So I don’t want them to just be relegated all the time to An enemy type.

As for Strong, yeah I agree, he’s not the most compelling, especially since his whole “Milk of Human Kindness” Story never goes anywhere.

Well first of straight away out of doc Mitchell's I took a left to chets store brought a shovel and got chances knife after that I loitered around goodsprings, primm, Mojave outpost, and Sloan to level up some, awhile after I adventured to hidden valley, farmed bark scorpions when one day I got daring, adventured towards black mountain took a route to the left of the mountain towards NCR safehouse, when there I went north and curved east then when at 188 made a bee line straight south for Gibson scrap yard for big boomer then novac for that gun managed to steal both with no hostilities, a few levels after I was able to get lucky.

the hologram emitters for the security can be found in the rafters, which you can jump to from the bar. you can shoot them to disable them, which turns the remaining holograms hostile, or you can disable them quietly by interacting with them if you have... I think 50 repair?

And charisma is not really worth it in FNV, I recommend at least 3 or so in PER and 2 in ST if not more

Charisma can be at 5 and then you can just increase speech and barter, I don’t recall any charisma checks, but there are intelligence and perception checks

You could try to flank them by going west, around the quarry, or on the eastern side however you will likely not be able to move through the multiple death claws, still worth a good try

So many great actors & actresses that help voice New Vegas was a treat, but the story quests are so epically satisfying that it deserves more credit for a year and half duration to create New Vegas…. So, making constant saves and backup saves for faction quests or anything with reputation helps to do on an older save file if necessary.

It’s got a lot better over time but there’s no way in hell I could recommend it to anyone.

It’s still extremely buggy/no cross save support if you ever plan to switch platfoms/no lfg/no item sharing between characters (except through taking the risk of placing them in a container in a private world and switching characters) This game lacks even the most basic QoL features you’ll find in other games.

They’re also using some of the most desperate techniques to keep player retention/monetization high due to the lack of actual content. Take the scoreboard everyone’s freaking out about rn. It is clear as day predatory. Hopefully they learn that they have a new audience to win and they need to clean their act.

Arthur Maxson’s Brotherhood is the perfect evolution of old and new, which is the whole point of the Outcasts Rejoining the Lyons side of the Brotherhood as well as having recruitment. The West Coast side is meant to be more stuck in their ways about various things.

Well, either way, my point is this. The BoS is flawed. As is every faction that has ever existed in these games. But thats one of the reasons why they exist. They are painted in a good light because they are constantly being changed to be better. There has to be a balance, otherwise you have a boring goody-two shoes (in some ways like the Minuteman), or a bloodthirsty self-serving group of killers (such as the Enclave). And the BoS (over time, with different parts of it differing) has that balance. They do have some really terrible ideologies, but to be honest? Getting rid of them canonically would be one of if not the most horrible decisions Bethasda could make

And thank goodness that Bethasda gives you the chance to destroy the BoS in their games. Just like how they let you destroy basically everything else. If they didnt, it wouldn’t be the Fallout everyone has come to love

The BoS have always been xenophobic technophiles teetering on the edge of imperialism. Literally one of their (non-canon) endings in Fallout 1 if Rhombus was killed is the Steel Plague, a millennia-spanning period of ruin due to the Brotherhood becoming even more fanatical. They're no less standoffish in F2 and in Tactics we see them explicitly beginning to take over - obviously it's mostly non-canon now, but Bethesda genuinely has not changed the Brotherhood in any way that wasn't already set up in the very first game.

The story of the BoS chapter in FNV, which I remind was worked on by former classic Fallout devs such as Chris Avellone, is even explicitly geared around the flaws of their ideology coming to a head

Lyons breaking off in F3 meanwhile was the first time (in game release, chronologically see also Paladin Rahmi in F76) they were actually being of overall benefit to the wasteland trying to directly help people and patrol for dangers instead of just stealing everyone's tech like the West Coast Brotherhood wanted and Outcasts broke off to continue doing.

Roger Maxson's ideals for the Brotherhood largely died with him. As of F1 most initiates didn't even know his name anymore, despite largely being born into the Brotherhood since they hadn't been recruiting outsiders for two decades and weren't exactly welcoming people with open arms before then either.

They were never the "good guys", they were the exact same self-important technology police they are in 4 as in 1.

They've just finally branched out some more, in the process becoming the very thing Roger Maxson formed the Brotherhood to avoid. Just like the US and China became as horrible as one another in the Old World, it's the Brotherhood and Enclave in the new one still continuing the old world's sins, and we're gonna be caught in the middle yet again.

And the Railroad is also noted to be a safety risk since some of the synths they've freed have malfunctioned and killed people

Obviously the Railroad's going to demonize the Institute, they're plucky ideological underdogs facing the Big Bad™️ of the region - said Big Bad™️ does genuinely have a ton of problems, which is admitted to even by current and former members of it. The Railroad aren't wrong about that. Are they they right people to be doing this, doing it the right way? Are the Institute? These are questions that also come up.

It's also then a core story beat in F76 spoken by V76's overseer of all people that just about every major surviving faction of the wasteland has the various means to survive, but instead of cooperating they keep closing ranks and fighting one another

Major powers keep rising and falling over the same corruptions that ruined the old world, which is not just greed or imperialism or the like, but also blind adherence to dogma. Tribalism.

The NCR's fall was already put into place by the original devs too, particularly (and intentionally by Avellone's own statement) in FNV with how it's becoming this bloated capitalist mess and how it was getting too powerful

Fallout's story has always been about the growth and evolution of its world, and also the how it keeps making the same mistakes along the way, which also drive that evolution. Because after all, what has always been the series tagline?

War. War never changes.

Speaking of the NCR, Shady Sands itself was formed out of a Vault no less; V15 was packed with people from various different walks of life intentionally to see what would happen. Three major groups left and formed the three major raider gangs in the region, the final group left and formed Shady Sands using their GECK instead

The very first place we typically go to after leaving V13 in the very first game, before the idea of the Vaults being experiments even existed yet (that wasn't a thing until F2, the Vaults were actually originally just genuinely fallout shelters in the original game), still went to show one of the core themes of the series: so many may turn to corruption and desperation, but there's still the few working to make something good in the world.

And that good can and often does turn bad in the long run if not carefully cultivated and protected, but it exists still and even manages to make progress sometimes.

The Enclave making a canonical reappearance in the series through the TV show and subsequent F4 updates is just ripe for F6 and/or season 2 to then compare them against what the BOS has turned itself into.

And what it already was before. Isolationist dogmatics descended from US government institutions, wielding power armor and other advanced technology to enforce their views upon everyone else? F2 was basically just telling us back in 1998 what the BOS were going to turn into in 2015 with F4

Elder Lyons was probably the last hope of a genuinely beneficial Brotherhood, and he's dead and buried.

The Brotherhood always had that potential to grow in Military Strength just due to the people that formed it and that training being passed onto descendants. Lyons helped open the door for the Brotherhood to recruit outsiders more often again compared to the time after 76 to 2 where they were still not very trustworthy of anyone born outside the Brotherhood.

Even in F76 when the entirety of the Brotherhood's presence is just the First Expeditionary Force plus local recruits since Taggerty's forces are long dead, they're still a force to be reckoned with

The original Appalachian Chapter had recruited, before they eventually closed ranks due to finally having enough people. They also had Vertibirds and a lot of Military Power, more in comparison to the Lost Hills Group who didn’t recruit themselves.

Oh yeah the EF picks up where Taggerty left off, but I mean since it just showed up as of Steel Dawn

There is canonically a Midwestern chapter, it's brought up a couple times there in F3, and there's even a couple of details that still line up (supermutants possibly joining the Midwestern's ranks for instance), Tactics is basically for use as parts rather than being directly canon. Tactics also established BOS airships as a thing, something F4 also mentions regarding the BOS formerly having a whole fleet of them.

Ultimately there's the core narrative that Bethesda does generally respect; they'll slot in some new stuff like the T-60 from time to time, and the Brotherhood having sister chapters early on works perfectly fine because it's such an unexplored area of the lore, but the idea by the time of F1 was and has always remained that that was the Brotherhood at the time, with no indication throughout the entire series of them having major unknown leftovers; the scribes had not forgotten Roger Maxson even though the initiates had, and everyone still knew of the Glow even though nobody actually went out there

with 2 and particularly Tactics showing them finally growing again after being stagnant for so long, finally becoming more, and in the process exposing the core faults they had formed over time. F76 shows it's not the first time they've tried to expand, but 3 and 4 shows them finally succeeding.

With no small help from the Enclave tech they were recovering.

FO4 isn’t centred on narrative design or choice. Its focus is clearly exploration and loot/building. Players love the game for that, and I think that’s great there is a title enjoyed by many people

It’s been done. I don’t want to keep referencing a certain JRPG developer that begins with the letter A, but they did exactly what I wish Bethesda did, and both SMT and Persona do gangbusters

And they’re owned by a gambling company (Sammy owns Sega/Atlus). MS is the second richest company in the world, and they are probably worth the equivalent of hundreds of Sega/Sammys in terms of net worth

Also, Square did it. Final Fantasy 16 is an action game; but I don’t hear Final Fantasy fans complain as much about it like I hear NV fans complain about Bethesda, because those Final Fantasy fans are busy playing the FF7 Remake with is more of an RPG than 16

Someone in the indie game scene is probably going to make a post-apocalyptic RPG that scratch the same itch as NV and is successful, and Bethesda will probably be like ”damn, we coulda done that…”

NV's RPG system however, was good, but not perfect. AFAIK FO4's system could actually be widely praised at least for stripping out the need for weapon repair. For me that was nuisance in NV that somewhat spoiled the game forcing a particular build of character actually.

Since Fallout 1&2 was isometric there was no specific animation for that model. As with revolver part... well, it is the history shared with Fallout 2's Bozar... 10mm pistol has it's design actually borrowed from third-party comic book and it was meant by the artist making the concept art and the sprite to be an automatic revolver. However due to miscommunication it was coded and narrated as 10mm autoloading pistol.

True. But that mechanics could also be implemented differently in gameplay. As for me... one of perfect implementation may be the one that was in Metro: Exodus game. It didn't punish player with having their weapon outright gone but did feature the need for weapon to be regulary cleaned/oiled .. and ignoring it would have caused frequent jamming.
