tbh, one of the two features I want to see in the next fallout game, is being able to look down in first person and seeing my body, kinda weird to me, to be a floating head with arms. Other feature is Fallout 3's old skill system. Finding it more enjoyable then the newer systems, since it would make skill checks easier, instead of merging multiple things together.. Like Shotguns and rifles.

There's a few skill checks in 76. Mostly your SPECIAL stats, but it's a start in the slightly newer engine.

I know, hopefully we go back to the older system, or revamp it a little to fit the times, do like having a "Character Sheet" to edit and upgrade in an RPG.

Mhm, of course. Some might prefer the cards, or a big poster, but I think I will always prefer the "Character Sheet" approach to perks. It's always a pleasant little thing to do. The only thing I would say about the older system that would need to change is the "Pop-up" into instantly upgrading after leveling up, I think going into a pip-boy option would be a little better, instead of suddenly popping up after completing a quest or, ending combat. I think it would work better as a menu option, or when in survival, sleeping in a bed to level up.

Personally I doubt it. The TV show will not be developed by Bethesda Game Studios. In this respect it would be similar to Fallout: New Vegas, which does not have a channel here because it was not developed by BGS. But we will see. Almost anything is possible. 🙂

Here is a GIGANTIC wish a ton of Fallout fans have, I mean The Derby, Bourbon, Fort Knox, Sluggers, Museums, KFC, Mammoth Caverns AND the Ohio River are just a FEW things that can be put in.

I thought horses were extinct? As for everything else, that is very much plausible. Save for "Harold's Sap" As for a derby, you can use robots for derby racing, as seen previous times before.

Personally I want less mutants and more more normal non predator animals. Also more vehicles, and towns to have slightly more mechanics, leatherworkers, etc depending on how large they are and where they are located. Even if you don't interact with them it would add to the immersion.

I don't think the games ever claim that. Chris does state in the Fallout Bible though, that no horses survived the Great War in California, but that doesn't mean they couldn't have survived elsewhere, and that's non-game Obsidian-era Avellone canon.

I just consider it as the "Power Armor's Assault Rifle" because it's the size of an LMG out of PA, but in PA it fits more of an "Assault Rifle" point.

I think there are plenty of better machine guns in Fallout than the "assault rifle" we got in FO4. That goes tripply so for those extremely complex pipe weapons. A single shot, small caliber pipe gun is better than nothing, sure. However even in FO1 there were people manufacturing new firearms. Like the BOS and the Gun Runners.

There certainly is rock-and-roll in Fallout. We have Sixty Minute Man (the record that gave us the term "rock-and roll", Good Rockin' Man, Atom Bomb Baby, Right Behind You Baby and a few proto-rock tunes that could be classified either as blues or rhythm-and-blues.

It's not the style of music, it's the date of recording that feels wrong to me. The Fallout universe is a fictionalized version of 40's-50's America and how the people of those times envisioned the future. To me, songs from the 70's feel completely out of place in the Fallout universe.

It sure did. But ultimately Fallout music isn’t about when it was made, but whether it has that ‘Fallout feel’ to it. It’s a hard thing to explain, but you’ll always know it when you hear it. Some songs like 76’s Ring of Fire and it’s version of Country Roads don’t quite have that Fallout feel to me personally. But there’s plenty of rock songs that would.

ok uhm go to where the game is installed and there should be a hi res patch executable if you're running the game in basic it will give you an error i just tried it on my end don't if it is currently doing that i run mine on DX-9 so it works. i don't know if the game pass has this patch i presume so it is a bethesda owned game.

there is a config executable you can use to change the render engine to DX-9 but there's a patcher exe that will give you access to the high rez textures.

you can play without them but it's an optional thing that's how i was able to play fallout 1 cause i was having this same issue

Ah, good to hear. The freezing is most likely caused by a corrupted save. I suggest saving rather frequently so if the issue happens again, you don't end up losing a lot of progress.

There should be an update in Fallout Shelter in which were implemented :

• A free base editor
• More quest : " story quests ", monthy quest, and an annual quest
• A weekly merchant, selling junks, ( maybe weapons and Gear ), of different levels, including legendary, for a huge amount of caps
• No caps' cap
• Making stats such as S, P, A, I, more usefull throughout the overall gameplay
• Fix bugs
• Customise by yourself rooms' skins
• Show HP bar while fighting internal accidents every time. And being able to apply both RadAway and Stimpacks
• Gifts during events, like Easter Eggs, Halloween, Christmas...
• A new mode in which there is no limit of dwellers, and depth

That is strictly a matter of opinion. Some people prefer the Fallout games, some people prefer the Elder Scrolls games. Myself, I'm not a Fallout person. I prefer the Elder Scrolls. But many people here do enjoy the Fallout games. Your best bet is to try both franchises and decide for yourself. 🙂

My tinfoil hat theory is that the next game is "Fallout NO. 5". Just as NV used Big Iron as it's main theme, and 76 used Country Roads. This game will use Mambo No. 5. The "NO" in the title will also refer to the game's setting of New Orleans.

I am basing this off of zero evidence except that I think it'd be a great opportunity for an Underwater Vault and power armor diving suits.

I would definitely snap them up. Fallout 3 and Fallout 1 are my second and third favorite Fallout games (after Fallout 4) so for me it would be a no-brainer.

1. The game world. I'm more of an explorer type of player who makes up his own stories. If I don't enjoy spending hundreds of hours roaming around the landscape my enjoyment of a game is going to suffer. Fallout 4's landscape is my favorite in the series.

2. Settlement building. I love this aspect of the game dearly. It alone sets Fallout 4 above the other games in the series for me. The way I play it, settlement building is a vital component of roleplaying.

3. Factions. I love the factions in Fallout 4. I like how they interact. The political tensions between these factions are fascinating to me and siding with one of the other with different characters makes each playthrough feel a bit different.

4. The perk system. I really like the way perks are handled in Fallout 4. I prefer it over the character-building and leveling systems used in earlier games (though I would have welcomed a feature similar to Daggerfall's Advantages/Disadvantages or New Vegas' Traits).

5. The writing. Overall, I prefer Fallout 4's writing to the writing found in earlier games. I think it represents Bethesda's best writing so far. I think they did an especially good job with characterizations this time around.

Hey all, sorry if this definitely isn't the place for this, but it is a Fallout related concern. I am currently playing New Vegas, I'm right about to go inside Repconn HQ and grab the science book and the Q-35 Matter Modulator, but the wiki states (for xbox users):  If picked up, the gun could cause problems when loading a game. When loading it, the console reads "cannot open file because there are some mods that cannot be held." There is no known fix.

Does anyone know if this was patched at all or anything like that? It fits my character perfectly to use this specific gun, but obviously if it can literally kill my save file it might not be worth picking up...

Okay, I figured that's all I could do was make sure to keep an old save prior to picking it up. Thank you. I tried doing a deep search to see if anyone experienced this bug, and I only managed to find 1 person reporting a save file corrupting after getting the gun. So maybe it's quite a rare occurrence.

So I’ve been playing New Vegas for awhile and I didn’t know that once you set foot on the Strip you have to align yourself to the NCR, Caesar’s Legion, Mr.House etc.

you don't really have to pick an allegiance immediately

Caesar’s Legion is not really my type since they use people as slaves from a gamepoint perspective

Just completed my first playthrough going through Caesar’s Legion. My next playthrough I’m gonna align myself with Yes Man this time around any advice/tips regarding what SPECIAL or skills I should have since I’m going for a independent New Vegas with Yes Man this time around

tbh i always struggled with picking perks in NV because so many of them are useless lol

i'd get to the point where none of the perks were worth taking anymore

Could always collect all or most of the skill books too if absolutely necessary. I usually do.

if you do a rather specific build, you can get max skills by level 40

10 int, educated perk, and use all the skill books

What SPECIAL would I have if I decided to go for a Gun build (Assault Rifles/SMG) and for a Energy Weapon build?

My current build as an NCR First Recon Sniper I went with:

Strength, Intelligence, and Luck get bumped up by 1 early with implants (I tend to speedrun to New Vegas before even hitting level 2 to gamble at Atomic Wrangler and get enough caps for at least Intelligence), I have my Endurance at 6 so I can get that many implants, high Agility and Luck for sneaking/crits/gambling purposes. You can buy Naughty Nightwear from Mick and Ralphs if you pass a 30 speech check, or you can steal it depending on your character's morals. Naughty Nightwear increases Luck by 1, so it is perfect to wear while gambling. Get Boone as a companion early on for his 1st recon beret for more crit chance. If you plan to use any bigger weapons that require 8 Strength to handle properly, you could choose Weapon Handling as a perk, although playing through Old World Blues is better for the +2 strength boost after you get your spine back in.

But like I said before, choose either Guns or Energy Weapons, don't try to do both. You will end up wasting valuable perk points.

Also, for help with perk choices (you need to plan ahead to some degree) here is someone's tier list; it is technically their opinion more than real tiers but it makes sense and helps you decide if the perk is good for your build or not.

Oh, and for extra skill points when you choose your Traits, I'd recommend choosing Good Natured and Skilled; then when leaving Goodsprings you can replace Skilled with another trait, you still keep alllll those skill points but don't keep the -10% exp gain. Easily the best exploit early game. I like Built to Destroy since my repair skill is always high and I like to crit as much as possible.

Let me know if you want to try the New Vegas speedrun, if you avoid discovering most locations on the way you should be able to get the Intelligence implant before you ever level up once. It isn't necessary at all, but it's fun to do. It really only works in higher Luck builds.

I've made it pretty far in my current playthrough without needing Strong Back or Pack Rat, but I just started Old World Blues and now notice a lot of the stuff that Pack Rat will help me carry more of is everywhere in that DLC. Definitely gonna grab that perk now. Idk how I've never done OWB yet.

Anyone got any tips for a pure melee build in NV? I'm talking no range whatsoever, not even explosives. I feel like since a lot of the better melee perks also need unarmed skill, i dont want to invest too much into explosives unless absolutely necessary since i have to invest in melee and unarmed already.

I can't decide what Strength to start at; 7 seems logical since I'll get the implant, and plan to do OWB to get the Reinforced Spine for +2 Strength, but I'd also like to have high Strength as early as possible in order to have an easier time beating on people. Maybe I should see if there's some gear I can get early on that increases Strength, but all I can think of is power armor...

So Marked Tribal armor seems to be the "easiest/earliest" armor I could get for a +1 Strength boost and +2 Melee weapons. But it's max DT is only 10. So idk if it is worth trying to get.

@quasi sentinel I did a melee build for Caesar’s Legion can’t remember my SPECIAL exactly but I think I had it at max at start for Strength

than went and got Chance’s Knife when I step foot into Goodsprings

Heavy Handed and Wasteland as my starter perks

Used Guns as secondary for ranged support but when they got close I swapped to Melee

For perks when they came available I look carefully to see which ones would increase damage output or increase Melee Weapon stat
