There lots of reason. The main one people will say is that "it looks bad" but there's more to it than that.
It puts you at a bad set up for balancing, makes your chances of getting bucked off higher, creates more time between your push and your set up. It's just not a strong body position to be in.

That said, practicing pushing in any stance is helpful and being able to be comfortable in all of them will help you out immensely. Anyone that says that they can't comfortably push in any stance is simply admitting that they haven't put in the time to practice and get comfortable in those stances.

Which is fine to do what you want and be comfortable.

I'm not really interested in the story mode or day/night.

Both would be super nice. But the challenges and stuff would be fine instead of story. Story modes are just challenges with cutscenes. The day/night would be awesome and seems it could be made to work in an online world. But it would seem like they would also have to give you the option to control the time of day on your own screen. What if you don't want to hit your clip in the dead of night?

Session does the whole day/night control extremely well. But I usually only want to pick a certain time of day to skate in all the time
