In turn, a bunch of gamers buying it seeing it having an M, then upon playing it realize it's only because of a few words here and there is going to be disappointing.

Skate 3 was rated T for its use of language and the violence that naturally comes with skateboarding. (Mainly the opening scene of trying to jump the shark and falling off the board.) but just getting cuts and bruises on your character as well. Also sexual references to things.

skate 3 was rated T for Teen by the ESRB for Crude Humor, Drug Reference, Language, Mild Violence, Suggestive Themes. For EU, it was PEGI 16. Generally, for PEGI 16 this rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life. The use of bad language in games with a PEGI 16 rating can be more extreme, while the use of tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs can also be present.
That being said, the team hasn't locked what the rating of the game will be.
