People can mint an unlimited number of base portraits and accessories, but the set will be available for only a limited amount of time. The first set will feature probably 15-20 Illuvials and they plan to release a new illuvitar set every 3-6 months though exact time has not been decided

If you are just talking about the process to mint then yes, I think it will be as smooth and successful. Do I think it will sell out? Personally, yes I do. But there has to be a bigger marketing push before the sale in my opinion to drive hype, not just hype from the sale itself does that make sense. People have to be excited and want to get one, the core community is, and I know this because I am excited to get one and I have never cared for pfp NFTs personally. The question is can we garner enough demand. There has to be more demand for this one. With lowers prices that attracts more people than land. But can they grab the attention of people of people who don’t know about illuvium and entice them to get an illuvitar. I truly think that is dependent on how much hype can be garnered to the Illuvium name before the sale. I’m sure the marketing team has some stuff planned but I have no idea honestly so I can’t say one way or another I’m just giving my opinion like you asked

But once the first set of Illuvitars ends their minting session, that will be it for that first season which will no longer be mintable. But then the team would launch the 2nd season of Illuvitars.... and so on.

These % make no sense really. It is really no fun to pay 2.5 eth and get a tier 2. The percentages should guarantee a certain tier and give a chance at a higher tier. For example diamond should be 80% tier 4 and 20% tier 5. There is nothing fun about overpaying for low tiers because you were unlucky.

With such implementations we are getting a lot of upset people who will be very unhappy with what they got. This is not the way to design loot boxes that you pay for.

Overpaying is awful. The incentive to get a high level box is minimal, at that level of spend just mint a bunch from the low level ones.

I just checked the whitepaper. Treasury currently owns 15% of the total supply. So 15% of revenue go back to the DAO. And if Treasury reinvests in itself when it has leftover ILV, then we can assume the budget will grow on itself.

If I buy a poster featuring an image, I don't own the image to do with what I want, just the poster. I can sell the poster to someone, but can't license the image, or print and sell merch featuring that image.

IP stuff is super complicated, and I doubt even the examples you mention grant any real IP ownership, just a narrow personal license. It's interesting though, I know there's a lot of uncertainty around NFT's and copyright.

Especially when I compare this to other projects that seem to be entirely based on speculation.

I know that it is not exaggerated when they say they are the first AAA game. No doubt about that. But the competition will be other AAA from the traditional gaming industry. Illuvium dealing with crypto might be an additional incentive for many, but it may also be a deterrent for some. I have met a lot of people with strong feelings about cryptos and by far not all were positive.
Then we have this "pokemon" style game. I know there was a hype - I did not experience it directly, because I am more into strategy games. That's why I cannot truly assess whether this type of game is catching or long-time motivating.

For instance I have no idea how building the community plays out. How much time will players spend in the different modes? If it's mainly Overworld... that is Single Player - players do not build relationships to other players here that will keep them in the game... will there be other places to meet and chat?

And what about lore? How does the story telling work? Will the world feel immersive? The demos of the Overworld reminded me a bit of WoW very long ago (only better looking). But in WoW, some of the main drivers for long-term motivation were character development and following the storylines through quests. No idea how this is going to play out here.

As to the speculation on the yield for the SLP pool I would say yes it more than likely would be higher than 15% for the next few months. I am still unclear on how revdis is distributed or if it is at all to the SLP pool. Revdis will definitely be given to the ILV pool. Many factors to consider. I agree, as long as there’s a chance to get a lower tier for what you paid for, I’d say it’s not really worth it to gamble; imho, and just an opinion, premium (diamond) should eliminate the risk, because … it’s premium. On the other hand, lower boxes should also get their corresponding low tier mints while also giving a bit of chance to get higher ones (e.g. the more expensive the box gets, the higher chances it can get a higher tier mint; and once it hits the premium (diamond), the risk/chance is completely eliminated)

I am just going by the diamond illuvitar box chances of 50% for Tier 5. So maybe there is a 50% chance if you flip it twice, of course the more Boxes you open the more likely statistically it will be 50%, I believe.

Illuvitar will be random is my understanding based on tier. The boxes have a percentage chance of getting different tiers. In the pinned posts there is a chart that shows the chance of getting each tier in the different boxes.

Certain Illuvitars are at certain tiers, I believe they echo the tiers of the illuvials in the main game (but I may be wrong so don't quote me on that!)

My understanding is the same as Dan said. Illuvial Master and Infoluvial both have the Illuvials on them and you can see which Tier they belong to. Then you can check the different boxes and see your chance of getting that tier.

What is everyones thoughts on how the pricing works for illuvitars. I personally think it should be a base cost for only one box/illuvitar with the chances to get higher tiers a lot smaller than how it is currently set. Have one set box very cheap - so everyone has the same chances, and the low chance of getting a rare will make it that much more exciting, instead of spending heaps on a higher tier to possibly be filled with rage over getting a common.

The items you get are randomized before you choose to mint the illuvitar from my understanding. You then will choose what to permanently mint to your illuvitar. Once accessories and backdrops are added and minted there is no taking them off or changing them.

I would say if the sale is not limited, everyone should have all chances to get all the Illuvitars he/she likes. So the Illuvitar Sale could easily last a week or two.

Ofc, this means that certain Illuvitars won't be that scarce - if people try fishing for a certain T5, lots of additional T1s and T2s will exist that can be sold lateron, but I'd not anticipate price jumps for those...

If we do not know the utility nor do we know exactly what differentiates a t0 from t5 Illuvitar guessing at what the prices should be is a shot in the dark. Im not sure how they could have formulated a finalized price without nailing down those details in the first place. I trust the team to do right by the community however; pricing in the IIP seems steep with the vague details we know.

I've a very personal opinion on that and I'm worried. Not at all because of the council. But because if it's to keep everyone in the dark until the dev is done, and then only handover to the council, there is no improvement compare to today's process.

pretty much 1) adjusting the price, 2) removing the lower tier chance and 3) allowing unopened boxes; and come on, it’s “the community” (or the customers who will PAY) already speaking about/against it. The worst case is they pushed the outdated iip and get negative publicity; it’ll be very very bad to the whole illuvium merchandise in the long run, esp. future sales

I sinply don't agree with nr.2. As there could very easily have an imbalance of the tiers. I would prefer the tiers to also vorrespond to it's relative value. By remobing chance of lower tiers, there coumd be a big chance of more tier 2 existing than tier 1

However i do get where you are coming from with the idea. Bjt then it would be better to jusy directly change everything to buying a specific tier, and the randomness would be which illuvitar you get

there’s too much randomness already going on; base illuvitar is random, tier is random; accessories are random; it’s insanely a random sale. the main goal of sale is generate revenue, but if your buyers are even afraid to buy, how can the sale even make it? the main thing against chance to get lower tier from the current tier box you bought is YOU, the buyer, wants to buy the illuvitar with the corresponding value of your budget AND have a very slim chance to get higher tiers so that you feel you have gained value from the purchase not the other way around.

I’m ok buying a shoe and get random colors, but if the quality of the shoe is random and I paid a premium, why would I even risk wasting my money, i just go to a different shoe shop to buy the quality that fits my budget, not random

I don't care whether the randomness is kept or not, as a fun part of it, is the exciting feel of not knowing exactly what you will get (not a gambler). And that is something people will buy into, and people have done that for decades

The other solution would be to totally remove the randomness and you just buy a specific tier like in the land sale

The proposal you have is something in-between, which i understand why you think is good, but i simply disagree with your opinion as i don't believe that as good in the long run
