Yes, that thing is massive but it still has this squishy-looking giant blob of a body with a small head. Dunno, maybe it's just me but I can't unsee a snail. On the other hand, there was a different boss statue leak that was super impressive and much more fitting for a leviathan. I hope that will be the winner. No offense to the design team though, needless to say, they are doing an absolutely awesome job!

In the overworld battles tend to have fewer illuvials. In survival the numbers will go up gradually.

But there’s always the chance of large numbers and chaos.

I believe the pricing system for illuvitars to be a bit steep and out of touch for the current gaming ecosystem for these reasons:
-Games such as Fortnite, CoD Warzone and Many other AAA games allow skins to be bought with no RNG. Yes the skins are not yours(NFT) and not customizable but your average gamer will laugh at a basically ~$100 usd (base bronze price) with a small chance at getting an avatar they really want.
-We are trying to attract the masses and this luck based RNG avatar system feels a bit akin to a loot bot system which ruined many AAA games and left a sour taste in gamers mouths to this day that flee at the sight of loot boxes.
-I am all about making rev-dis as I'm staked in the protocol but I would rather err on the side of not irritating web 2 gamers looking at giving the game a chance that may prevent mass adoption of this awesome game.

I do see your concerns there. However, all of the illuvitars can be listed on the secondary market at a price that meets the demand. Legacy gamers don't have to buy initially. This is more like buying a pack of cards. You might get a limited edition illuvitar(Like a Charizard, etc). So it is up to everyone how they want to proceed.

Also right now the demographic is mostly crypto gamers. Maybe in future sales, a lower entry price may be better. But right now I'm assuming there are few legacy gamers here. the marketing hasn't really targeted them yet.

The difference between paying $100bronze -$5000 platinum is a huge advantage for the whales to get what they want in the current system but even then it's RNG based. Tier 0 don't growth up, they stay baby but we might see some little change on the Illuvial.
We don't know yet why Tier 0 stay baby but Illuvium story will tell us... to be continue.

I was actually going to ask people how they thought the capturing illuvials would work last night, crazy timing. My idea was you get the shard on the screen and similar to Pokémons ball shake but you get these cracks appear on the shard. So it would be like crack and big line bolts across the shard, crack another line and then the third one when it’s shaking like crazy you are scared it’s not going to catch, it either smashes apart as a fail or imprints in the shard with a nice sound to indicate success. I knew this wouldn’t be it as I know you don’t lose your shards on failure and they probably wouldn’t want cracks on successful catches either but I thought it was cool. Did anyone else have theories before the reveal ?

It was obviously a terrible mistake giving any dates knowing the likelyhood of hitting them, it basically shows you (as a team) had no idea of what the timeline was to make a game. People have been complaining about the dates since the first mention of them and its absurd that we are trying to make financial decisions around things like the land sale when Kieran is trading (against us) with better info, whilest publicly spouting that land is just round the corner.

By now noone can trust anything you say in terms of dates and its probably a big reason nobody wants to buy ILV with unlocks coming and no idea of when anything will actually be released.

There have been scenarios where we predict a date, actually come within days of hitting it then a random security flaw is flagged and it completely derails that date.
We cannot predict shit like that, so do we just say fuck it, it's just a security flaw, who cares?
Sometimes those flaws or critical out of nowhere changes can mean a day delay or months, so as a first time studio can you start to see how it's really damn hard to time anything, especially as there isn't a studio on earth who's had to deal with the back end complications we have in game dev.

Take a look at Gamestop's recent entrance into blockchain gaming for example, what do you think is going to happen when the millions of eyeballs they have on their brand start seeing a 'crypto' game that looks as good, if not better than traditional games? The community they bring, the media coverage they receive, it's hard to contain your excitement when you see what is going to play out here

Not everyone can be perfect but at the end of the day, blockchain gaming is early AF. The question I pose is, if Illuvium was to not have such an aggressive deadline in early 2021 and said the game will be coming out in 2023, would we have picked as much traction as we did now? Would the ILV team have worked as hard? Even then , there a lot of unknowns in game development, & production, as well as the absolute headache that may come from blockchain, such as security & audits, as well as the complexity of the integration itself.

Whether illuvium releases end of this year or the end of next year, one thing that holds true is that they always deliver with the actual product. At the end of the day, that's all that is going to matter and help on-boards tens of millions into the space.

There seems to be a split in the community with regards to dates. Some are fine without a clear roadmap and others are concerned that there isn't one.

The solution is setting dates that have a bunch of padding. The last date we set for the land sale was doing precisely that - it had a bunch of padding. But if you remember back to when we announced that people were up in arms because of how long it was going to take.

The takeaway for me is never let anyone go into the red. Build a product that is so good that it defies the bear market. Then there is nothing to complain about.

Because I think everyone who invest, specially in early rounds, shall be responsible of their decissions and not making responsible the team because of the market or complexities. The team has never hide that this is their first videogame, that they were naive at first with deadlines. I'm at losses too, also angry because of the market, but all the decissions were made by me and delays happen. I would love a more detailed roadmap never said the contrary, I also prefer the silence to unrealistic deadlines because I have also lose money because of them, but at the end if you are here for the project you accept those things when you see the product. And making blood in bloody situations doesn't help. I may agree with the complains but not the way to express them, and that angry yes I do beleive is because of the economical side of Illuvium. If you get annoyed by something, go take a walk. Attacking a seed investors smells like megalomania whilst so far the things pointed out by this person are not only mentioned by multiple community members but are basic communication principle.

Point is and remains: you already knownyour deadlines are too aggressive. Own it, accept it and set more realistic ones. I have accepted the criticism many times. And I accept it now. Unfortantely you seem to be forgetting the hack which put us back nearly three months. I wish we had of factored that in to the land sale. I truly do but that would obviously be impossible.

I am writing up an IIP as we speak which hands over the roadmap to the council. The team will feed the council the most up-to-date info on product delivery and the council decides when we announce dates.

Obviously this doesn't fix the issue if something happens and the dates are delayed but at least the council will be aware.

Outside of that the only thing we can do is add a couple of months padding to every product delivery. That way we can guarantee things are delivered on time. I guarantee it will slow down the development time though

Regarding the hack setting us back, obvious result and I think nobody will give shit for that. Also the way it was handled was a lot better then from what we usually see. It’s the somewhat silence leading up to the landsale that was a little odd.

Also, IMX, great platform and reduced gaswars but just not yet ready for such a wild and great project Illuvium wants to be. Compare it to Wilder World who built their own marketplace and has enormous Opensea exposure. As long as it will take 24-48 hours to withdraw funds with the actual IMX official acces point not working, people will GLADLY pay the gasfees, which are negligible these days.

But those are all just things we see from outside, I particularly look at it through the lense of someone working fulltime in crypto. Nobody is perfect.

I'm not a expert guys, but the game won't look way better, you would have to redo all the assets to take advantage of nanite etc. (like Ashes of Creation is doing) The game should run better, have better lighting and be future proof, but generally be the same. (correct me if im wrong)
