Just catching up on chat this morning, Ranked PVP flow looks absolutely fantastic, I love the addition of Legendary Enhancements bidding to add this deep level of strategy, mind games and gambling, plus gives a high level of variance from match to match. Going to make for some really interesting moments.

I like that there's also a gap between the Illuvial Placement and Item Placement round to counterplay or mitigate Illuvials with placement. Interested to see how these items work.

Overall flow looks solid on paper - Curious to see how it all feels and plays out. I really like that it’s all skill & strategy based as opposed to a heavy focus on RNG deciding the outcome. Great work!

Bonus notes: I LOVE the flavor & design on the Conflagration synergy, interested to see how effective the healing & bonus damage is given the seemingly short Conflag duration

6 & 9 Fighter Synergies look OP af on paper, but again there's still like 100x+ factors us Discord plebs don't know about how Illuvium combat & balancing plays out practically lol

A game like guardian hunter could be easily be ur nxt main game. Making it in less time due to the fact that we have already established illuviatars and illuvials (without adding more skills). U can easily solve those People craving for Co-op, raids, 1v1 and guild. Its also a solo player game like illuvium the only time u would interact with other players is through guild chat so u would make this game in less time compared with other type of main game.

In one of the interviews they were saying that on launch day everyone will load in to the game and have a chance to “activate” the first obelisk to open the first region. When they do it will then be open for everyone to go into and the opener will get a unique NFT for that region. The way to unlock the obelisk though is a mystery so we will have to figure it out

T0 is the free area where you would be able to visit all regions and my assumption was that the obelisk got you to T1 where you can capture stronger Illuvials and again it was every region.

Energy damage is the second type of damage, besides physical. It goes to health just like any other damage. Think physical and magical damage in most games, it's just called energy in this game since there's no magic. There may be a third type, something like true damage, that ignores resistances and mitigation, I don't recall if that's been talked about. Most games have that too. Different types of damage allow for more varying types of defensive and offensive scaling, and therefore more strategy and counterplay.

Tou can catch T0 without paying. Level them up and sell it in marketplace to get ETH. Then buy Fuel with ETH and go to higher region. But there ia no guarantee that anyone would buy T0.

The best I can say is actually prob some of the content creators. I like Volkin's stuff on the open world, the affinities and others. They congregate a lot of the leaks together and make it easier

Volkin youtuber is the best source I've found so far. They talk to one of the cofounders in some videos, and there is a lot of content about the gameplay. Volkin has a Illuvium playlist on their channel where all the content is gathered

My number 1 advise to anyone looking for info about Illuvium is to search on YouTube all the interviews of the Warwick brothers. At least you will hear it from the creators themselves about the game. You can also start watching the other Illuvium videos of the YouTuber who interviewed them.

As for game play info, game developers (even those making traditional video games) only give an overview with some basic controls.

In time, it’s still the community who will create a wiki-style how to because the devs will be busy with enhancements, updates, new game designs, etc.

T0 can be catched for free, why would they want to pay for it if they don't want to spend a lot of money. Only whales will want to buy T0 because they are lazy to level up their illuvials. This will only happen until people start to sell T1 in marketplace.

Making an external wiki is a time consuming process that doesn't really have any benefits. If we change things around it's extra work to fix the wiki and keep it up to date. At the moment we are posting updates through the discord leaks so that you can see a more stream of consciousness of the team's work.

Doing what you want is an unnecessary distraction for us and the goal is to get a whole bunch of work done in not much time. I don't think people fully understand the work that goes into making more than 200 fully realised models, as well as effectively two genres of game and the blockchain elements to make them function.

We have a very detailed internal documentation that spans nearly 2000 pages. It's just not the sort of thing we can make accessible right now.

It will be there eventually, but as you say. It's something that will come AFTER we release the public beta. Until then you'll just have to absorb the details piecemeal.

FYI We are also building an 'Illuviary' that has all the details of NFTs in the game. We will probably leave strategy guides and 'strong decks' to external content creators.

I just read the dev blog and honestly I'm reassured about the Data Analytics for balancing the game. When I see how it's so hard to balance TFT I do think it will also be a challenge for Illuvium and having precise data helps a lot for sure. There is so much to say but overall this looks really good (also the transition to hexes on the arena will definitely feel great for players!)

Definitely. It would be minimized if the chance of successful breeding is considerably lower than capture chance. This would allow for people who don't have enough time to go to a region to still put money into the ecosystem without having to use scholarships. Alternatively, they could add breeding-exclusive Illuvials as part of a collaboration or something.

Breeding has some interesting applications, and (IMO) is one of the better parts of Axie.

However, the team is making Illuvium, not an Axie clone. Fusing is also a really cool system, and the entire way the game is set up will incentivize players to go out and explore the world to obtain Illuvials. It would be a travesty to build an immersive experience like the team have done, and not have players engage with it.

I'd go so far as to posit that anything you could do with a breeding system could be achieved through the fusion system, while remaining thematically appropriate for the Illuvium world. This also allows for the bonding curve to fulfill its' function in keeping Illuvials valuable. The main problem with breeding (thematics aside) is that 2 Illuvials would breed, creating 1 additional Illuvial. Fusion involves 3 Illuvials combining to make 1 Illuvial. Therefore the supply of Illuvials decreases in the process, instead of increasing like it would in breeding.

These are all important things to think about for the way the game is designed.

100% agree. I like the fact there's Illuvial burning mechanics via fusing and bonding. Breeding to increase the supply is a very slippery slope. As Kieran said in a recent interview, it's about creating value that isn't dependent on new players entering the ecosystem. Breeding promotes a lack of gameplay while increasing the supply. I like your idea for potentially doing a fuse hybrid sort of thing which could be unique. But I guess that's more one for #802110554784661544 also.

There are probably some things that we could remove over time but they are lots of work for almost no gain. Like for example your health at ticking to zero. If you go first that is bad. If you are alive then you might want to go first though.

Sort of. Theres like a timing issue for the ai to resolve actions of each illuvial. It happens so fast that players dont see the difference. For us its all happening at the same time but the AI resolves the actions in a sequence. So if your illuvial has less life than its counterpart it would be to your advantage that it acts and resolves first to at at least deals its damage rather than getting killed off without resolving its actions.

In a nutshell, each Illuvial has a Class and an affinity. Affinities are easy to understand - water, air, Earth, fire and Nature. Class is more like their talent - fighter, rogue, empath, bulwark and psion.

The exciting thing is when we fuse the required “3 of a kind” Illuvials. Their classes and affinities Will be upgraded. This is what’s called Synergies.

Thinking back about the PVP Flow Chart, the more time passes the more questions I have (and the more hyped I am)
Does the Obelisk lose health based on how many opponents units are left on the board after the fight or is it fixed damage?
For the former this could allow strategies like high elo players apply on TFT when they have a weak board. Basically it is to accept the loss but still try to do micro positioning to kill as many units as possible in order to reduce the damage taken. Let's say player A loses the bet on a critical Legendary Enhancement and is doomed to lose the next 3 rounds, he can still try to minimise the damage with great positioning in order to plan a comeback after round 3.
For the latter then it could allow very spectacular come back which are really appreciated on the Esport scene (reverse sweep). I can imagine that it could be designed to be a Bo7 to allow this kind of scenario: Player A screws up the bet on a critical Legendary Enhancement and hard loses the first 3 rounds but he manages to win the round 4, 5 and 6 thanks to the new Enhancements he managed to grab at round 3. Then for the final round (the 7th) there is no Legendary Enhancement and all comes down to positioning and mind game. This seems easier to follow (for the audience) and it can create insane stories during major tournament events.
Either way, this seems pretty cool and I'm really curious about the fighting process

We have black widows in Australia, except we have the more dangerous subspecies than the one you get. It's called the Redback. I've had one crawl across my bare foot because I wasn't paying attention in a shed. They are not a big deal.

A funnel web is much more deadly if you don't get treated and they are truly nasty. They will rear up and act like a dickhead.

I'm not bothered by Redbacks (black widow), because my place has hundreds of them outside all the time but if I see a funnel web I trap it and call the reptile park. (Well, I've done that once. every other time they end up a victim of a shovel)

I think they're just cosmetic? I wrote about the utility of flowers etc (in Zero), and the consensus seemed to be: "it's a good idea, but maybe later". V1 of IZ will be simple and focus on the core goals of the game. Mining resources, minting blueprints and producing fuel.

My god, I really love these leaks... it's been amazing to see this game evolve and coming together like this 🙂
This might sound a bit corny, but on a gloomy day like today. (family is bunked down with Corona.. but doing fairly ok, just glad we all got vaccinated in time).... but following Discord and seeing these brilliant bits of the Illuvium universe, really lift the spirit and make the day a lot brighter 🙂
