Gezu I believe is testing feedback interaction with objects in the world (To make sure everything responds animation & interaction wise with the movement of the ranger), I think maybe there’s intended to be a small amount of resistance being flung off the plant, but in this case their is the equivalent pushback force of a 50 ft gorilla hiding inside that flower

I’ll mention again, it would be a nice addition for the new wake system to include accuracy feedback much like in Pokémon Go.

As the wake moves it also has a pulse contraction effect. So you also need to consider the timing of the pulse while aiming.

Nice, great, excellent shots ect then can be used for small in-game challenges or rewards.

On the specific topic of OW, I actually disagree. Even before PB1 came out, we had the internal discussions and I even predicted on multiple AMAs that if there were anything the community would latch onto, it would be OW.
It's just we had so much to do before building it out further and now we are finally on the path to resolution!

I mean they feel like very different tasks. I'd say questing elements and things like that are moreso lines of codes and scripts and things like that. The way they are implemented is the key task. Things like this nethersight and other vfx are mostly the work of artists.

Game dev teams have an extremely wide array of roles. There's a lot of overlap obviously but I can tell you they are prioritising appropriately.

Augments are NFT's, often with a similar value to an Illuvial

so whilst nothing is being done on that ground (VFX/3d) for the forseeable future. Grant has historically made clear that he believes that anything that is an NFT should be held to the same art standards as we hold ourselves to for Illuvials.

So I expect he's making that clear now, that these are not a finished product.

The team might talk about NFTs here in discord but nowhere on the Illuvium website does it talk about NFTs and that is the plan going forward. In game items will be NFTs but the player won't need to know this, items will just be in your locker, Illuvium will give you a custodial "wallet" when you make an account and the player never knows about this until they want to sell something at that point Illuvium will introduce IMX wallet which is a self custodial wallet so you can confirm transaction and such.

Eth is not what you think it is in the Illuvium game, and there is a reason they are keeping this slogan. My guess is Ethereum is the fuel that powers you space ship and everyone is fighting to get it so they can get off the planet they have found themselves stuck on

True, Beyond is very NFT focused but it does cater to the people that are here now in the community like myself who understands NFTs and the power they give to players. If someone doesn't like Beyond there is no need to interact with it. But I get your point

The plan is that In the future, completing collections in the album (illuvium beyond) can unluck certain cosmetics in the other games.
We wont have to call them NFT's , but just illuvitars - the collectable portrait cards of illuvials, which go into your album. The entire project is called illuvium Beyond, as you have things that dont really fit in the World that illuvium games play in. The partyslides, meme glasses and rainbow pipes 😛

But for example, owning a complete Atlas collection could unlock a set of Emotes for Arena, a Watery Colored wingsuit in the Overworld and an Atlas-like buildings skin for Illuvium Zero. (Just making this up, none of this is locked!) 😛 But you get the idea.

I’m picturing myself making my way through a region, I see a fiery wake in the distance. It comes aware of my presence and starts evading me erratically. I start to fire. I manage to hit it. It becomes stagnant and pulses with a contraction affect each pulse I hear the whoomp, whoomp, I take another shot and hit it dead centre. “Perfect” pops up on the screen, I earn extra stability points.

The second time I see a water wake.
It starts to evade me. I fire multiple shots from a distance. I manage to hit it. It becomes static and pulses much faster than the last. I make my way closer for a cleaner shot. Mozart yells, “you’re going to lose it”. It disappears. I took too long.

When you see the type of wake it triggers a deeper emotional response and also allows you to target certain wakes over others.

The movement pattern and speed should reflect the power of the Illuvials. I think this is already the case.

When you successfully hit the target you then need to clam your adrenaline to focus on the timing of the pulse to get that final shot.

I think the pulse speed should also move relative to the power of the Illuvials though the window of time is consistent. That way you can’t run up to it and snipe it close range.

Now we can add small tasks like “Get 5 Perfect shots with a water wake” ect.

Why would you get banned first of all.
Secondly, when the game is in Open beta and the NFTs are live:
Once you get an Illuvial or other NFT, and it is real, there is no way for the team to take that away from you. It will be in your account and will be able to be sent to your linked wallet address.

NFTs will appear directly on IMX and thereby the Ethereum blockchain. There, they are immutable and you can do whatever you like with it. Banned or not, those NFTs belong to you and you can trade/sell/send them anywhere you like.

Yeah the entire reason that games are being created with actual NFTs as assets is to give the players true ownership. No more losing your assets or spending money and having nothing to show for it once you uninstall the game. You will be able, and probably even incentivised, to trade/sell your assets.

Not sure about AWS but i can imagine that being true with their announcement and the simultaneous downtime of the site 🤷‍♂️

Seeing the illuvials in the overworld is getting me hyped. Currently playing through Final Fantasy 16 where you vs many creatures that translate well to fighting illuvials (scorpions, hounds, turtles, snakes, birds etc.) and the combat system would translate well also. You cycle through different elemental abilities to bring up / use in combat that could be similar to cycling through equipped illuvial's omega's attack to assist you

Here's my guess. Fully battling in the overworld would take too much time for launch. Each illuvial would have to be animated specifically to work in the overworld. And with most illuvials having their own skeletal frame, that would be a ton of work. This is a great solution to populate the overworld with illuvials, without the full body of work. As you approach an illuvial, they turn into a wake and begin to flee. Because they are a wake, their animation doesn't have to be as precise. It's ok if their feet path through the floor or if they float a bit. My guess is this is an interim solution to help provide addition fun and realism in the overworld. Remember that even at launch, this won't be a final product and will continue to iterate.

I imagine it would be far too hard to have the actual battles take place in overworld - they'd have to rework so much of the area design to allow for larger open spaces to be suitable for whatever style of combat they decide on. I imagine the wakes will stay and then it will transport you to an to a battle area

One of my favourite leaks was the Overworld footage when we first heard Arlen say “Got it!” when she shot the wake.

That one element got me so pumped. Feedback extras like that go a long way.

I want to be visually and audibly rewarded when I do something well in the game.

Take mining for instance. When extracting good deposits I want a bigger visual queue than just a slider on the right saying “2 vantricium”

Get the audio team to design our own style of “cha ching” we also need our own “5 hit combo” style alert that appears.

A drone blast is an equip-able cosmetic in Arena. You can buy them or earn them with achievements such as completing beyond collections.

When your drone does damage to the opposition drone it will use a basic blast if you don’t own anything. If you have a blast equipped it will make it much more extravagant.

Those stats ARE what makes them different. So I don't understand the ask. You want us to roll 6 stats into 1 gauge? I don't even know how that would work. What makes something powerful is nuanced. If you have a Psion Rhamphyre it's going to want different stats to Rogue Rhamphyre.

Allude to would be doing some heavy lifting here. The vast majority of the content in the trailer is stuff you deal with in the current games. There's probably two words in the trailer that allude to a bigger world of games that are coming.

There are no cinematic clips prepared through gameplay. This isn't a single player story game. There will be things we add, but they won't be 'cutscenes' like you would get in something like Zelda. The purpose of Illuvium is to leverage NFTs to make the world feel more real because real people are interacting with it. At the beginning that will be limited to things like 'Someone bought all the X, so now the price of y has gone up which means a new meta shifts and suddenly focusing on forging is a better strategy. That's very cool, but I can appreciate that some people want more. Like 200 storm the Kobold capital and overthrow them, thus changing the game world.

Those sort of things take way more time and effort to pull off. So they will have to wait for other games.

Arena is not fully connected to Overworld really. Rangers try to outdo each other and become better in PVP but without the single player pokemon style 'beat all the trainers' narrative. Again, if you completed a single player game where you became the best trainer by beating a bunch of AI, the real number one Arena player would probably be like WTF.

If you want a story about climbing through the ranks to beat people and become the champion, just play the game and increase your rating, win some qualifier tournaments and then win the actual world championship. Much better doing it for real than against some fantasy AI.

Have no idea how the math would work and I’m sure it would be a rudimentary figure in the end though the use of it would outweigh its imperfections.

Let’s say a specific Illuvial with perfect stats would have a value of x and any other Illuvial of the same type would not be able to beat it in a 1 on 1 so they would have a lower value. You could then estimate that a is more likely to beat b by this one value.

CP is a big part of Pokémon Go so I believe many would appreciate a stat of that nature.

That's why we let you see each stat. It's just 6 lines. Not hard.

The script is about the stuff that leads up to this, which you will get to discover, and what happens into the future, which you won't really be a part of.

Imagine the script is a bit like the TV show Arcane. It shows some before and after events that give context to the world you live in. But at no point do you get to 'be Jinx' on her journey. You just play games, and know her backstory.

Reading Grant messages it seems like even the team is amazed by the possibility of bringing Illuvials on OW sooner than expected, lot of implications if finally that is the choice I guess! But it is great reading that "wow" vibes that you have guys. Tbh most of the times I listen Grant I agree with his perspective of the product and what kind of emotions the game should trigger on players, and this one seems a really good one

Also I think is the first one for which he said he would prefer integrate it sooner rathen than having AAA graphics, quite impresive

Yeah first time I think I've heard that as well. I know that to a certain degree the level of perfection is more difficult with lots of different characters such as illuvials. Clipping and the way they move across unique terrain could have some interesting outcomes.

It was never us being stupid and ignorant to where the fun was, it just wasn't realistic to us early on

I am sure the movement mechanics of illuvials work a bit different in OW. They are not constrained to a small battle board and therefore can sprint or possible jump or pounce or run into walls etc. I wonder if it would be feasible that illuvials could have weak points to be shot that would allow possibly a stun to catch up to them quicker and capture them allowing a small advantage to skilled marksman.

It's a little detail, but I've always enjoyed the corpses & mysterious remains found in MMOs in areas of Danger, just really brings a level of life and intrigue to the Overworld, thinking of something that might not be that much work once you've got all the Character + Weapon + Ranger Suit Models finished, but might add some additional flavor to dangerous areas, would this fit into the Overworld Lore?
