I think the meteors would work well for the Koala bears.
The koala is fighter and rogue, where the fighter in them could call for some extinction event-level stuff xD it would suit the animal as well.
The tree kangaroos are revenant and I think those would have more sneaky attacks.
I think the panda omega would be different than this. Maybe the team changed that but im placing my bet on the koala.

Only when we decide to implement it. It only works now because of default mappings. There are some QOL improvements that are lower on the list because we are still actively building. Unfortunately we can't do everything at once, and controller support is not something that we see as a core feature for the private betas.

@granite musk thoughts on a future game idea where players choose an OW region, build a base with IZ like structures and mine resources. People can travel through a portal which allows them to attack neighbouring bases.

I think it would be a great way to use the regions. Sections could be flattened to allow construction and vehicles to travel.

Players would need to travel through the region to find the base and possibly encounter traps and defences along the way.

Structures could utilise a lot of the IZ components. I’d probably think to simplify the resources to something like elixir and gold.

Illuvials could be used for attacking bases. They could also be used for defensive measures like manning turrets.

I think it would take the city builder genre to the next level and drive demand for Illuvials. You could fly a drone over a base and get a good look to deploy your units like COC but then join in the battle from the rangers point of view.

I’ve recently got back into Pokémon go. There’s a few things about the stats/UI that trigger me to continue my quest collecting Pokémon.

Remember not all of us are professional gamers. Many of us don’t care about the specifics of each stat we just want to know “is it any good”?

Pokémon Go is for the casual gamer I know, though they have really nailed a few things by keeping it simple.

Combat Power: The bar gives a good picture of the of the overall fighting strength. I don’t really care how common the Pokémon is if it’s CP is really high I’m keen to catch more of them so I can evolve it. It’s actually a huge reason I come back to the game. You can stand all the Pokémon together and have a good idea who’s strongest with this one stat.

Hit Power: I can easily see how much health my Pokémon has compared to others within my collection. I want to know if it’s tough, and once again can see from one stat.

Appraisal system: Not sure about many others. I like the ability to be able to get an appraisal on the stats in the game. The star rating is a easy way to understand what you have caught, what to keep and what to transfer.

I like the level system with Illuvials but don’t really understand the bar with this image. I’m also not sure if there is enough emphasis to mark its importance. Is it important? If it’s like CP maybe don’t make it flat try a glow or different shape or give it a name.

I’ll also add I like the way Pokémon added random weight and height to further bring the characters to life. Illuvials look real. I think something like random height and weights could go a long way for the people that just like them as characters to collect and play fun games with.

I’m not proposing any changes right now. I’m just adding some feedback for future iterations. I know Illuvium is not Pokémon, though I think we should lean into it a little more.

Agree that most ppl, even top ranked players, don't look into the exact stats of abilities. But its nice to see the backend the way ILV presents it. They are doing fine here and its a choice they are aware of imo.

Tier lists, overall point values/ranking of units, experience using units, all of that creates a kind of "play by feel" vs "play by numbers" that humans fall into naturally, but we still want to know that if we did dive into it, the info is there and the game is deep.

Again, no change needed but absolutely agree with your point re: clear and easy is a great default. ILV made a different choice and its fine/has its own merits

it's only a speedrun for the remaining 1000 energy. a single encounter costs you 500~ and 1 rock, if you use three tries costs you about 200-300. So in a sense, you need to keep your eyes on 3 rocks or 2 encounters before crossing the threshold. you can even place a teleporter next to them with F, so you basically don't need to do any speedrunning. it's just TP-ing or Running.

From my experience it works like this:

• you start with 5000 Energy points
• once you get to 1000 a timer starts (no timer before that)
• once the timer is over (I think 5min) the world starts overloading

It's actually ok, it doesn't need to much planning. I like to farm and when I see a corner with multiple farm spots I set a beacon there...then I go farm other things and once I get to 1000 Energy I teleport to the beacon..farm the couple spots and start running towards the Obelisk and try to either use up left over energy (if something is left) or try capturing morpho pods (they don't cost energy).

It's really not a big thing once you experienced 2-3 times, but it bring a little bit of tactic and planning into the game.

If someone’s spends money to visit a region and doesn’t get to use up all their energy it’s going to piss people off. You say it’s easily dealt with by placing a teleport point and that may be, but then that defeats the purpose of the mechanic. The only reason to have mechanic like this is to try and end people’s travel to a region with energy left over. If there’s another reason then my ears are open to hear it.

I think many are harsh because they know how good it could be. Bottom line is people want to feel like they are being hunted while they are out hunting. It’s much more thrilling and in some form it’s on the way.

The fact we have a team that are critical, creative and honest goes a long way. Many creatives fail because they believe everything they do is perfect. Sometimes you need to go against your own beliefs to fulfil the desires of others. It’s hard though in a lot of cases that’s where success lies.

There are others that just want to wander and look at the sights and do mindless activities. I believe Illuvium can appease both spectrums by giving skilled players challenges that reward them for their time but not give them an unfair advantage as well.

This is not serious. When we do examples in the game it helps to ensure we don't use actual values, because otherwise people can assume that is the current value (rather than the data in the system). This way we can get the structure right without needing to edit it later for content.

I would argue that "good ol' sci-fi" has included AR and AI for a pretty much its entire existence. What really matters is good execution. A story that resonates with people. You can make a story about a cooking rat that has people crying tears of joy (Raccacoonie was great) or you can make a story that is terrible even if it has the coolest premise.

The Matrix was a great movie, which was all about AI and simulations (I guess not specifically AR), but it wasn't great because of the premise. What made it great, in my opinion, was that it fulfilled a very simple message: "If you believe, anything is possible." The amazing visuals obviously helped, but it was the fact that every scene was designed to further explore the narrative of belief. In the prologue belief and possibilities are mentioned 7 times. By the end you're so wired to the hope that Neo will believe in himself, and the payoff is justified.

I'm a strong believer that a good film is never about a series of really cool things that happen. It's why I think Memento is still Nolan's best work. He's so good at "narrative structure as a prop" but that was the one that had the most emotional resonance.

It's also why I refuse to believe that there was ever a sequel to the Matrix. There COULD have been. I think there was something there to explore, but what they ended up exploring just didn't resonate. it was cool, in a philosophical way, but I'd rather be hit with a message that an idiot like me can understand even if I only get it on the surface, rather than something I have to get a degree to understand. Or worse, something that just mimics philosophy.

Thanks for the response aaron, I'm also a big fan of the matrix, only 2nd to lotr. I agree AR/AI has been a part of sci-fi in the past, but to a smaller extend, to supplement the characters in the real world, with the matrix being an exception of course. Apart from the reasons you mentioned that made it an epic experience, I think another large part of its success was the dark atmosphere and the non-stop sense of danger. Actions in the matrix had real life consequences. And thats my main problem with most AR/AI story lines, it removes or reduces the sense of danger or that your actions matter at all. Also I feel our universe has enough cool things to explore and fantasize about rather than being stuck in a computer code. My 2 cents

Perhaps you don't like the genre, but romance almost never has "real life consequences" like those of scifi (people dying, danger, etc). Usually the consequences are more about emotional wellbeing, etc...

Simulation and "It was all a dream" stories tend to exist in this space. Where the only consequences are in what is says about the psyche of the characters.

MOSTLY "it was all a dream / sim" ends up with no stakes, even emotional. And I think that's why you are against it. But it CAN work.

Hopefully I have done enough defence of "It was all a dream" to plant the seed that Illuvium is of that type. And then you'll never know if it is a misdirection or if it is what the story really is about.

Your thinking was much deeper. I was just thinking about the mechanics at play while you’ve had a stab at the underlying premise of the universe. I agree the suit sounds very haptic like my comment was if Len has an outlet at the back of her head used like in the Matrix it must be limited because a suit is needed. Yep, we also have alot of the elements already built, like movement physics ( they look amazing ), terrain like trees, rocks etc. It's also the mainstream genre so the pros are alot

Would Love to have a Shooter where you can choose an illuvial coming with you into the Battle and Support you... Like titanor charging and kicking other Players arround, or scoriox shooting with you aswell, or axodon jumping in front of you as your shield to absorb the dmg.
