I think it would also depend on the bonding curve. Too low entry means the bonding curve will be reached faster? So probably below $10 for tier 1, $20 for tier 2, until $50 for tier 5 land.

Last I heard you can use either to buy the land. The second answer is a matter of opinion. my opinion is ILV can give you a better return but higher risk, where ETH being the safer play with equal or less upside. A bullish Illuvium announcement will outpace ETH imo.

I just read it. If anyone is interested what article he's talking about, google "NFTs Industrialize the Gameplay Loop… That’s a Terrible Idea" it's a blog post on playerauctions.

It does have a decent analysis and uses Axie Infinity and Pegaxy as models to discuss P2E gaming. He makes some valid points. However, the issue is that he is ONLY using those 2 games as an example; While currently this makes sense, as they are the most popular, it doesn't take into account all of the other myriad of ways NFTs can be used in games like Illuvium, Big Time, Gods Unchained and many others.

Axie Infinity and Pegaxy use very similar economic models. The other games I mentioned are quite different for example. Then we have the underlying tokenomics of games like Illuvium which simply is unparalleled.

One of the articles main arguments is that "Pay-to-Play industrializes games. It skews the incentives of game design. The entire gameplay model becomes profit-driven"
This is the part I disagree with. Mainstream gaming has introduced micro transactions and other profit-driven strategies a long time ago.

I think someone's comment at the bottom of the post is what I agree with most: "tl;dr: greedy devs will ruin games with or without the blockchain."

Currently we do see a lot of games being focused more on the earning and less on the ownership of actual valuable assets. Many of us in this community see Illuvium as a bastion of hope that can help to change that. Making a game that's actually FUN to play, community focused, competetive E-sports and can earn enough to own valuable assets that hopefully gain value over time.

My own TL;DR
Article makes some good points about SPECIFIC games, however it's lacking an overall vision of the bigger picture of what is possible with NFTs and Play to Earn gaming.

I forgot how many of the illuvials (nfts) will be attainable free early in the game, I think its in the 50-70 variations/evolutions. This is still a very small number compared to the total illuvials in the game. Someone may know more exact numbers.

T0 Illuvials and T0 travel will be free forever. For roughly the first 3-6 months when tier 0 Illuvials have a decent market value, you may even be able to earn by selling them. However after some time the market will become flooded with T0 and then it will be necessary to pay to get into t1 regions to start earning.
