When holding ILV, staking is a way to gain additional rewards from yield farming and revenue distribution. The process for staking is the following:

• You acquire either some ILV or some Sushi LP tokens
• You go to: https://staking.illuvium.io/staking/core
• You enter the right pool according to the tokens you acquired
• You decide whether to lock your deposit or not (if locked, you will receive more rewards from yield farming and revenue distribution, but you cannot withdraw your deposit until the chosen locking period is over)
• After approving the contract (if this is your first interaction with it) you confirm the staking of the desired tokens

But yeah, everyone will start with ZERO and on a level playing field, pretty much. Explore the game, battle Illuvials and capture them to mint them to your wallet.

And a correction to what SolarStorm said earlier, you will be able to buy Illuvials but only from others who have captured them first. There will be a marketplace set up for players to buy and sell Illuvials with each other called the illuviDEX 🙂

It's more for efficiency. They were never meant to have a very high value. They are free to play onboarding characters. It mitigates a lot of risks for our backend if we ever wanted to expand to other blockchains and such. Anything that you don't have to pay for and can access quickly and easily can take up a lot of the minting transactions. If there is a high volume time period it could be the difference in you having your asset instantly or taking a few mins. Not a HUGE concern but still something to consider.

By making them NFTs it's hard to go back, and it limits our flexibility. The other ones with high value it's a no brainer for them to be NFTs. Because the minting costs will be absorbed by trading fees.

Hopefully that gives some insight into the thought process.

There aren't any official specs yet; note that the team's goal is to get the basic requirements down to around a 1050ti for a smooth gameplay experience. Though to do more graphics intensive stuff like raytracing, you'd probably need a higher-end card for that

V2 is optimizing gas as prior to it, you had to pay two gas to claim SLP rewards and whenever you wanted to stake, you had to claim rewards again. In V2, all claiming will be done in one go and you won't be forced to claim rewards when putting a new stake in. It also helps with the gas but it will not do magic as ETH gas will always be volatile unless it is fixed from the root. Also, game itself is planned to be on IMX on L2 regardless of what V2 is on.

If you've got your money in MM, buying on a DEX makes more sense if gas is cheap, otherwise you have to send tokens back and forth all the time and do a lot of changing here and there. I bought ILV from Metamask Swap and it was the fastest.

No don't do any claiming until emission starts. There was a snapshot, so don't do anything until you receive your new rewards that you should have got during the halt and then claim all the new and old rewards together when Emission resumes

If you pay $30 dollars for an instance, and you go once a day that means $150 in 5 days. Some of us live in poorer countries. Most of us don't have that amount of money to invest just in a travel fee. Now add the shards, mayve you want to buy some ilv, etc.

Also to be clear, it doesn't have an energy system like other games do. (As in it's not a daily maximum - which is obviously bad). The energy resets on travelling to each instance. So...all you need to do is spend another travel fee

Then don't do 5 runs a day. It's certainly not going to be next to free just because 3rd world countries should be able to do 10 runs a day too. That's not gonna fly. 30$ per run is more than cheap enough to be a good balance between non-accessible and accessible.

Yeah, a Stage 3 T5 will likely take some time to get... but remember you can also just farm for resources and sell them on the market. There will be tons of people buying lower tier assets to collect or make strong low tier teams. Remember, illuvials also have a "quality" system... so you could end up getting like...perfect T1 Illuvials that will either make it easier to farm, or you can sell them for more.

There are people and groups of people with thousands upon thousands of sILV, so assuming people do the smart thing and buy ILV to get rev dis, the sILV price will go up, therefore making it easier and easier for people to play the game using sILV (It'll go farther because sILV will technically be worth more in-game)

Yeah there's a lot of game theory that will go into how people will spend money and where the most value will be at any given moment. Of course some people will just do what they enjoy, while knowing they are accumulating assets that should theoretically be worth quite a bit down the road. Just because I enjoy talking about Polemos, if everything works out, they will have an asset staking pool, where people will be able to stake the Illuvials they catch. (Don't know when this will be implemented though)

One thing I’d be curious to get people’s opinions on is scholars. Personally I don’t think they should be encouraged since they extract money out of the game economy. They will give you short term growth in player numbers but at a long term cost to the sustainability and value of your economy.

Yeah so, that's the thing...Illuvium doesn't support scholars in the known state they are now. They also don't want it to be necessary to have scholars in the game. The guild framework sets up an interesting set of circumstances though. Technically, scholars wouldn't be "taking" anything from the game that way. Especially because the monetization isn't anything remotely close to Axie's for instance, where you earn X amount of shit token per day.

personally, I think the biggest factor to Illuvium overall success is adoption by mainstream gamers. Lower travel and shard limit the psychological barrier to being a paid player. I would rather travel/shard be low and get mass adoption than rely on extracting value being the reason to keep playing. I also think of travel/shard costs more like the cost of a pack in Magic the Gathering/Pokemon. Value is more set by utility and rarity, and its common to see a $3 pack turning out to contain a $40 rare, especially once cards go out of print.

The travel and shard is low though, in fact it's practically set up exactly how you just described. (I don't think it will quite be 3$, but the extremely affordable option for an entire run is being targeted to be equivalent to going to the bar and getting a beer I think) That was the example that was used long ago. I do agree, mainstream gamer adoption will be needed at some point in time to take it to the levels they are aiming for (competition with activision)

I tend to agree but you also want the Illuvials to hold some value. I hope the value of higher tier illuvials will be higher that may be a way to solve it. Another potential issue is that stage 2 an 3 illuvials will always be linked to the stage 1. Stage 3 will always be around 9x stage1. So you don’t want a valuable stage 3 being too cheap.
