Yeah there are definitely upsides and downsides, upside to grow , downside is the potential risk of bad rep when those promoted projects do something shady which then falls back on Illuvium . As @signal bear said, Illuvium will EVENTUALLY have a system for rentals, but it's far back on the priority list. The Polemos option she mentioned is set to launch potentially in Q3 and will feature a decentralized NFT staking pool where people can stake Illuvials, land and other NFTs and other players can rent them (this system eliminates the need for a manager since managed as a decentralized pool). I recommend reading their whitepaper to understand more. No details have been released about other options yet.

As much as I liked the idea of earning initially, Iluanor states that his main concern is that it could attract the p2e earning gamers, who are not yet familiar with Illuvium. Most people in the discord, know and keep up with the current state of the game. However IF some serious flaws would come to light during this part of the beta phase, it could result in negative press by newer people.

The suggestion summarized is to stick with the initial plan of opening it up to discord members and those following the game for a while but without the earning side. Also keeping with the ethos that the main mission of closed beta is to continue improving the game. Thus shift the focus of WHEN to focus on expanding to newer p2e gaming user base to keep it for public beta launch.

I have to say Iluanor makes a strong argument here and that I agree with him.

Someone suggested the other day to offer Illuvitars as a reward instead. Kieran's mentioned being open to that in chat (shoutout to whoever proposed this, I can't find you in chat history). It might even be eventually a nice collectable that is worth more than the ILV rewards (thus being a great reward for current community, but won't be enough to attract new gamers who just want to earn).

Ultimately, the decision will also be based on how ready you think it will be at that point versus the risk/reward presented in the two scenarios.

Well Illuvium Zero doesn't take too much time per day (maybe 30-60 mins), but you do need to own land so it costs a bit more to get in to. Main game Illuvium won't cost quite as much out of the gate, but it may be something that takes a bit more time if you are wanting to do multiple runs. Honestly 2 hours is a good amount of time to play either in my opinion, you just may not be able to grind as hard as others which is ok
