I could be wrong, but the way it was explained by Aaron in the Ama u can go to all zones, game is launching with 3 areas at first and u can travel to all, but just the instance setting will be tier 0. So exploring and going anywhere is possible free as long as it's tier 0. But going to the same area tier 1 - 5 will incur fees. I could be wrong but that's how I understood it ✌️

Again I could be wrong, but the obelisk will. Be used to travel correct, but used let's say to change the the tier zone. But believe tier 0 travel will be no fees. We will know later more, it's very hard to know when the game isn't out yet.

BUT, while the game will be free to play, in order to participate in the earning part of the economy, a bit of money needs to be invested. A full cycle of travelling, curing shards, etc. is currently estimated to be around $50 (this can still change).

Then there's "cheap" to whatever region with certain parameters like encounter rates and energy limits.
There will then be 1-2 more expensive versions of paid travel with whatever bonuses to make it worth it (I would assume otherwise everyone would just do cheapest)

I think Aaron's comment is quite relevant. There will be 2 phases of closed beta (we could guess 2-3 months total, for closed beta to have adequate time for proper and thorough testing). I'd imagine that we'll end up with open beta mid to late Q2 and that it will last 3-4 months. (In one interview Kieran said they were aiming for roughly 6 months of beta testing, so I'm just pulling these guestimates based from that). I'd honestly be shocked if Illuvium hit the market before Sept/Oct given that the team's focus is on a QUALITY product, and not a rushed one. Having said that, I think it will be worth the wait. These are just my own thoughts and guestimates.

I know people are DYING to play but... be patient. I'm so bullish on this project BECAUSE the team insists on doing such a thorough and solid job on every aspect.

My understanding of the announcement was that the team Auditing V2 found a vulnerability that also exists in V1. So they are pausing sILV claiming while they immediately patch V1 to fix the vulnerability.
However V2 is still undergoing audit.

But to rest assured that everyone will still be given ample time and advance notice of the Land sale, so they can claim sILV to use for that.

But that V2 should not be too far away.
So I am thinking maybe 2 weeks max...?
