How much money will you need to play the game - beyond the free plays who only catch version 0 illuviums? I saw a bot under the AMA say estimated $50 at this time, but how will that work? Will I need buy a pass or some kind of founders kit? Or is this all unknown?

You can pay in game in eth or sILV. There is no set price you need to play. As you say, you can play for free or pay more to have access to more in the game. Like in Roblox or Pokemon, you can play for free or pay $1000/day to buy all sorts of things and have access to all sorts of things.

Pricing isn't finalized by any means. An average travel cycle (T3 or something) might cost $50 or so. A T1 travel cycle should be substantially less than that, and a T5 should be the most expensive. You'll pay for travel, and for shard curing. Cured shards allow you to capture Illuvials you encounter.

During a travel cycle, you can capture Illuvials and gather resources, which you can sell on the marketplace to offset your cost.

Basically, if you want to play a LOT, and retain any assets you capture in game, as much capital as possible (in the form of ETH or sILV) is advisable. If you're willing to be more flexible and sell most of what you gather/capture, you can probably get away with less.

There are definitely opportunities for people willing to spend the time to make profitable trades or play the market.

ILV won't give you any kind of in-game advantage, but will entitle you to revenue distribution and yield farm rewards if you stake it.

sILV is pegged to the price of ILV, and is spendable on most things in-game (basically anything that's not player to player can be purchased with sILV), so stockpiling some to play the game is a pretty good idea IMO.

Hello everybody, I would like to talk about the multiplayer in the openworld experience.

I believe it has been decided that the game will launch with the openworld being single player only. I would argue that it is a far better idea to wait and finish the development of the multiplayer experience first before launching.

This is based on the fact that illuvium is seen and marketed as a mmorpg adventure game. Its made for people that want to have the mmorpg experience. What they are looking for is to live an openworld adventure with friends. I don't think many people will consider ranked battles against other people without any multiplayer openworld experience as mmorpg.

So there are two scenarios : games launches multiplayer openworld or games launches single player openworld at launch.

In the multiplayer scenario I think everybody would be happy.

In the single player scénario I think many of the players expecting the mmorpg experience won't play the game. I include myself in this category, because I mainly want to explore the illuvium world with my gf and we are so excited about it. However,if the game were to launch single player we would be facing a dilemma. Either not play and stay behind the curve of early players in the ranked/earn to play aspect of it. Or play the game separately with the sole purpose to not stay behind, but it would be more of a forced experience.

To back up my arguments and make this proposition a more serious one I'm sharing this poll that is currently open at the illuvium subreddit. Showing that the proportion of players wanting multiplayer openworld at launch is considerably larger

Axie had early adopters that got in and started breeding and they had so many Axie's they created this whole pyramid of workers under them. It's more or less impossible to happen in Illuvium as there's an alternate entry route of doing the work yourself and spending a small amount to catch your own Illuvials. I think there will be scholarships but not nearly as prevalent.

Yeah, the country is massive though. Not common knowledge, but it's bigger than the map represents, bigger than the US. Weather varies a lot as a result. Some areas get more snow, BC is more rainy. I got some snow now but nothing crazy. It's also one of those things that you want it when you don't have it lol. When you get it for a few months every year, it's whatever. Just another part of life. Personally, I prefer spring and fall weather, warm but not too hot. But having different seasons makes you appreciate the other ones too imo

That's the extreme end of each side. Usually July is 30-35C kind of thing with maybe a peak of 40 on some days. But June and August might be more around 30, which is nicer. Then for winter, it's only -5 or -10 today but February we usually get pretty cold and -20 is pretty common and then you get those cold cold days where it's -30 and then the extreme of -35 or -40 with wind.

Depends on the prize pool, imho. I think T0 tournaments sound super interesting in general but they shouldn't offer major prize pools in my opinion. These should be limited to "real full tournaments" 🙂

100% agree. I think it's a really cool concept but it should be a fraction of what a full Illuvial team of competitive play can earn. Just a way to give people a way to be competitive in F2P and also a chance to get into the full world of Illuvium if they do well and don't have the funds to afford being able to invest.

T0 is T0. It's not bringing in spenders, it's just allowing opportunity. Why should T0 have a 2Mil prize? I think having earnings from leaderboards is generous and doing any T0 tournament with prize money is generous. We have to incentivize those who actually spend to win big prizes. And even 100k is a lot to people who can't afford to invest in ILV.

Taking this from. 12 year of wow and there declining player base, the 5 million pre registers for eve echoes to 25k concurrent players now, they all follow the same trends, no new blood entering the scene, why I saw be little more generous to tier 0 events, not only will it bring new eyes on the protocol but also new blood and future investment, considering illuvium will launch many other games down the line. What I think about free tournaments with prizes: once a week for 1k$ prize pool winner takes all + a badge stating you won a t0 tourny. That badge prohibits that account to participate in the tourny again. So, theoretically everybody would have a chance to win 1k and continue to reinvest in ilv and gain more.

I hear ya but this won't be the same really. I think having some F2P aspects is good but if you offer too much F2P, it takes away from the players who are paying for their experience. It's a fine line and balance. And this is just one guy's opinion. And I will happily speak my mind but can also take a step back and re-evaluate my opinion with additional data or evidence.

We want to include players at a F2P level where they get to enjoy Illuvium but they do not get the full experience. For that, they need to invest.

The wall of needing a good pc is one, the wall of only been tier 0 is another, and as u say if u make tier 0 to good why bother going to tier 5 tournaments, I would have to say for marketing for one, secondly to get more crypto haters into this space, yes there is 2.5 billion gamers but how many are pay to win? One thing i’ve loved is the commitment to minimizing the barriers of entry to the game (production of mobile, free to play option, etc), but I am wondering what the required/recommended specs will be for PC’s in order to play. Has there been any information about this yet?

the game is still being optimized so the requirements haven't been released yet, but tests were done on a gtx 960 and a 1050 ti is expected

but you can always lower the resolution to try to run on lower requirements
