Illuvials can be on a range from Tier 0 to Tier 5.

Tier 0 Illuvials will be available in the free regions. It will not cost anything to travel there and the shards you can use to capture them will not have any sort of fee to use.

But if you decide you want to capture Tier 1-Tier 5 Illuvials, you will have to pay to travel to the regions which have those Illuvials as well as pay a fee to cure the shards so you are able to capture them 🙂

Then the Tier 0 Illuvials that you capture for free can be leveled up as you battle with them more... and once leveled up, you'll be more ready to take on the Tier 1 Illuvials.

Nothing else needs to be purchased, as far as we know at the moment. Just pay the fee to travel to the Tier 1 region and pay the fees to cure your shards, otherwise you won't be able to capture the Tier 1+ Illuvials that you find!

Correct, you'll be able to cover your fees within the game using ETH-- OR if you own ILV and are staking it, you have the option to claim your rewards as sILV which can pay for in-game fees instead of ETH (see below). In game, it can be used to pay for any fee (excluding IlluviDEX trades and Leviathan Arena wagers) that otherwise would be paid for with the main currency ETH. While claimed staking rewards in the form of ILV are locked for 12 months, sILV offers the opportunity to liquidate your staking rewards immediately. The tradeoff for that is that sILV only can be used in-game and does not provide compounding in any form.

Yeah, the key takeaway here is that until there's a date nothing is official. A lot of people were sad when the land sale was "delayed" last time because an expectation was established around a specific timeframe. A big delay to V2 or a problem with the smart contract audits would likely "delay" the land sale again. Just remember, there's no date set yet, and that's for a reason as far as I can tell. When all the ducks are in a row, the team will give us a date 😛

In the case of unlocking tokens they will have to be withdrawn with an eth transaction. So you can try to put eth on it but it will probably get stolen instantly by the other party's bot.
He can however turn off the bot and then withdraw your ILV and send it somewhere else.
But you could make a bot yourself to claim his eth when he sends it there. In both cases it should be impossible to get to your ILV now.

BUT, while the game will be free to play, in order to participate in the earning part of the economy, a bit of money needs to be invested. A full cycle of travelling, curing shards, etc. is currently estimated to be around $50 (this can still change).

you can start as f2p without any nft. But you will eventually catch some f2p illvuials which are NFT to fight in PVE or PVP.

there will be regions T0 - T5 I think. you can play in T0 as f2p. but to travel to other regions you need to spend.
what you can do is capture illuvials in T0 as f2p. sell them. use that money to travel to other regions and catch more high level illuvials.

yes. you can gather resources in the open world which you may also trade back. open world will be mostly about finding illuvials and resources. Watch this one for more info:

Then auto battle have PVE (to capture illuvials) and PVP (you can fight in arena and wage your ETH, winner takes all with a small fee to the arena).

I think the team has a lot on the plate and that’s why they are doing as much interviews as they can to get the information out.
