BUT, while the game will be free to play, in order to participate in the earning part of the economy, a bit of money needs to be invested. A full cycle of travelling, curing shards, etc. is currently estimated to be around $50 (this can still change).

Free. Sort of. If you're here on launch day especially, there's a whole FTP experience that still offers catchable NFT Illuvials. For at least a period of time these will hold some degree of value on the DEX. SO you could easily as a day 1 player farm up some T0 Illuvials, sell them, and use that as startup cash to get into travelling to the paid tier of regions.

More generally speaking, the price for one game cycle(Travel, battle, harvest, mine, capture, etc..) is still just speculation, nothing official, but should range somewhere between 20ish and 50ish dollars. In theory, you should be able to sell the Illuvial you catch for example to fuel additional loops, or just have more money said aside.

I'll personally be saving up a bankroll between now and then to do some Gen 1 hoarding lol.

Not directly, unfortunately. Your best option at this point, if you REALLY want ILV, is to sell your sILV on a secondary market and buy ILV with the ETH you recieve.

Make sure you're choosing the correct reward when claiming as well.

Yeah I've echoed this sentiment a few times myself on here. However I'm slowly coming around to the idea that there may well be more PC gamers jumping into illuvium than we predict.

I'd argue there's a generation of gamers (aged 30 to 40) with disposable income crying out for a game just like illuvium. We grew up with gaming and have pretty much seen and done it all. There's a serious lack of risk taking, creativity and innovation within the gaming industry today. It's become too profit focused, too formulaic and too obsessed with only appealing to casual gamers. Every game within its own genre plays the same with only a thin veneer stylised appearance between them. Me and my friends would chat while gaming about the idea of games allowing us to actually own our loot or weapons. To buy, sell, trade and show them off. We were having these conversations 10 years ago and now its only months away.

Other crypto games have come out before illuvium with some degree of success. I'd argue that these game are all about making money though. No one plays Axie because it's fun. No one would play it if it wasn't for the fact you can earn money. Games like that are destined to fail long term. Entertainment value must come first before earning potential. Illuvium is a play and earn game not a play to earn. It's that difference that will see its success far exceed anything we've witnessed to date.

With the right marketing and none crypto friendly support I personally feel illuvium may lead the way and revolutionise the gaming industry.

These are huge limiting factors.
