Yes the illuvials will have limits set for each generation once it’s relatively clear how long it would take for the players to capture the rest of the potential illuvials. Once they are all caught there would need to be the next generation of illuvials ready to be released into the wild.

Illuvials in each set will have a finite supply, they are on a bonding curve. As time goes on, they will become harder to capture. The main in-game burn mechanic comes with fusions. In order to fuse a stage 2 illuvial you need to combine 3 stage 1's of the same illuvial. It's the same for stage 3, you would need to combine 3 stage 2 illuvials. The first set will be genesis illuvials and once the 2nd set is released you will no longer be able to capture the first set in the wild. You can still buy them in the illuvidex / P2P marketplace from other players.
