I would like to definitly understand what is the difference free and pay experience. U are in the same tier 0 and going to capture illuvial but they never will value something ? U juste play mechanics etc ? Or u can farm in free play somes weeks and when u want to go to tier 1 u just pay the passage ?

You cannot fully understand the mechanics until the game is out, you can somewhat get some ideas but nothing concrete until the game is released, i myself have researched a good deal about this game and in my research and in listening to interviews especially with Aaron I strongly feel that the team making this game is fully aware of all of this and is aiming to make a game that is both enjoyable to play and that will certainly reward players who put time effort and skill into the game

Someone please prove my following thoughts wrong as I'm struggling to see how the "Play to earn" model is sustainable - I really want to increase my investment significantly and believe in the long-term outlook but just cant get past this.......For every person earning a dollar as profit, there must be one person loosing it. The money doesn't come from anywhere other than someone loosing. So that begs the question of why would the person loosing their money still keep playing?. If the person is "playing to earn", the very model all the new blockchain games, including Illuvium are using, then if that person is not earning but loosing overall then they will walk away and the network effect fails. If they are happy to loose their money in order to just play the game then the model becomes "Pay to play" which is the model we are currently used to and so things are no different to where we are now. "Play to earn" is a closed loop and by it's nature not everyone can be winners - unlike "Pay to play" where everyone gets value as in, they get a game they want to play as value for their money. Games need the network effect to be successful and when you have more losers than you have winners then its doomed to failure - just like Axie - Please tell me I'm wrong!!

Many games are already sustained by people paying money into the system and getting no money in return. Not everyone will go into the game to make a profit - many will be happy to be able to partially "cash out" when they leave the game.

Many F2P-P2W games are based on having repetitive boring content which F2P players have to do for months while P2W players pay to bypass. I understand in ILV they wanna avoid this model and create a paywall on paid content so that ppl can just pay to have it.

In my estimation this is generally correct. There has to be more new money coming in than people are taking out. Illuvium will rely on players who want to invest in the NFT assets and are fine with investing money into the game without taking immediate profits. Things like tournament prizes and quest rewards are great potential avenues to attracting more "paying" players than "earning" players. Bottom line is not everyone in the world can make money playing video games. Its a market like everything else.

idk why you need to be told you're wrong...the entire point is to make a metaverse where people are okay with paying others to skip out on grinds, and giving ownership to the players. Instead of everything being centralized and going to benefit the company vs the players

Also it's important to make the distinction, Axie is a malicious pyramid scheme (in it's current form) where it requires continuous new players to come in and buy more and more expensive axies, or just coming in and buying tons of axies to earn. This game will be completely different because of the free to play bit, and the extremely low barrier to entry. The idea is to lower the barrier to entry where everyone can get in, and make the ceiling nearly non-existent where if you're good at the game, the more you put in, the more you benefit.

That's absolutely possible - if you want a very safe profit structure, collect materials people buy frequently. You might not have big spikes in earnings, but you'll be more consistent.

If you're hunting for T5 holo Illuvials or something, you could absolutely go broke trying to find one, and that's good. It's meant to be rare.

I totally agree with u. All few P2E games I've seen are based on more ppl entering, and bringing their money. When ppl stop entering, the system falls. Some games even require huge amount of money just to start playing as noobs.

I see P2E as a real possibility for some players, but not to most. So, using P2E as marketing is close to a scam. Also, it brings tons of ppl not willing to have fun but to profit. I've seen many ppl come here asking how much they need to invest to start playing, as spending over $1K to play a game be normal. These ppl inflate prices making it impossible for play-to-fun players to play, then they lose what they have and leave.

With cryptogames, assets bought expesively can be sold to other players and part of the spent money be recovered.

All prices will be fixed to USD values, so they won't go up if the game is popular like Axie has done. You don't have to buy a team to start playing the game.

It's important to note here, that won't be minimum investment. You CAN choose to throw 10k in a day, but that doesn't mean you'll make 10k a day for sure. (Or even that it's necessarily meant to only profit). I'd say it's super fun to spend 200 bucks to travel a bunch and get NFTs worth money, that you can collect and sell in years, or you could also find other ways of making money.

I'm a bit confused about what you want. Do you want guaranteed earnings regardless of the decisions you make and without ever having to sell any of your stuff? That's not really much of an economic model - you can't have it all. It's possible you run into a situation where you have to sell something you found to keep playing. It's possible you can make bad enough decisions in game to not be able to afford to play more.

Entirely dependent on the person. Some will likely just play the overworld. But the game isn't intended to just be play to earn focussed only. It's intended to be a fantastically deep strategy game with play to earn elements. We're not Axie where people are just playing to sell Axies to the next people who want to sell Axies.

I think top tier Illuvials will be pretty expensive, but they've said multiple times that in competitive PvP that won't matter. It'll only matter for swag and Leviathan matches.
There's not really much way for a large number of players to drastically increase the price of playing as a normal player.

Perfect Illuvials are going to be exceptionally rare, so likely very expensive. But perfect Illuvials do nothing different to any other Illuvial in ranked PvP. You don't even need to own the high stage versions, just the stage one will let you add the higher stages to your deck.

I know Axie has its' problems, but let's not compare Illuvium to Axie - it's a different development plan with different goals.

I don't mean to be overly critical of your viewpoint, but it's not very productive or fair to assume things will be broken and unbalanced and have that as a starting point for discussion. We have DAO governance - anything that isn't serving the game properly can be changed, whether it's price for entry, Illuvial rarity, etc. Almost all of us here would like this game to succeed and between an excellent team (including @rich terrace, who always brings the facts to discussions) and the rest of the team, and a DAO that can contribute to the game's success, there's no reason to assume failure as a starting point.

I think Illuvials have RNG varied stats that are normalized in ranked but matter in Leviathan arena and potentially top dollar tournaments. This is an aspect of the game where investing money can acutally benefit you for the top tier of players. (those who spend so much it helps pay for much of the rest of the game)

the lands unlock for everyone over time as far as i got out of some of the interviews, free to play and people that put in capital all have to start in tier 0 at day 1, it takes resources to get to the next land and you have to mine for resources but that's a very simplified example its way more in depth as there are some resources that can only be mined in their mobile game which is coming first and sold on the market to the main game. a free player just has to grind and trade to get to earn

You need a registered account on Gate.io. However, you can use funds from any supported chain there, you just need to transfer them. For example, even if you have USDT on BSC, you can transfer them to your Gate.io account and use that to buy ILV

Though I hope draft phases won't become too scripted. Seems like for every pick/ban you open-up and close off some potential viable routes for your opponent, same with tbs positioning. So you are trying to force your opponent down a path favorable to you while at the same time not trying to be caught in a direction which favors your opponent. Should be interesting balancing act, but might be hard to have multiple viable routes or not make it too plain what the optimal move will be

Probably best general strategy will be to threaten multiple potentially strong options at same time

(They can store more in their actual inventory) When they play their ranger to the battlefield, they select a weapon and an armour for the character to equip. These bag slots cannot be changed once battle begins. For the ranked/leviathan area, the player chooses the content on deck creation. In the overworld, the bag slots are determined by what the player has equipped on entry to an encounter.

Yeah, I noticed that the gas used for a claim tx is increasing every time you claim, which is quite frankly ridiculous. Even whales will get into issues claiming too often. It will be a huge problem going forward for smaller participants.

It makes the "compounding yield" meme look like a bad joke. I really hope something gets done about it. I posted in #814313819185741845 about this. There seems to be some solution coming up for voting.

Not resolving this issue by either upgrading the staking contracts or movig to L2 entirely like Synthetix did will make this staking thing pretty exclusive to a small group of wealthy wahles. Most of the compounding will go to them BTW.

I really hope the team understands the urgency of this issue, because it will get worse with every single claim. If this will not get resolved we will see a lot of FUD and frustration in the next 3-4 months about this issue.

When holding ILV, staking is a way to gain additional rewards from yield farming and revenue distribution. The process for staking is the following:

• You acquire either some ILV or some Sushi LP tokens
• You go to: https://staking.illuvium.io/staking/core
• You enter the right pool according to the tokens you acquired
• You decide whether to lock your deposit or not (if locked, you will receive more rewards from yield farming and revenue distribution, but you cannot withdraw your deposit until the chosen locking period is over)
• After approving the contract (if this is your first interaction with it) you confirm the staking of the desired tokens
