In Illuvium there will be several options to P2E:

• sell captured Illuvials
• sell farmed materials
• sell crafted items
• play the marketplace (buy low, sell high)
• wager on battles in the Leviathan Arena
• earn some of the 1 Million ILV set aside for in-game rewards
• …

BUT, while the game will be free to play, in order to participate in the earning part of the economy, a bit of money needs to be invested. A full cycle of travelling, curing shards, etc. is currently estimated to be around $50 (this can still change).

Depends on the size of your deposits since that determines how fast your rewards pile up. Also depends on your choice of pool since LP has higher APY. And it depends on gas at the time of claiming. So I really cannot say anything to that 🙂 Personally, I wait for 5-10 ILV and Gas costs at max ~30 GWEI 🙂

I want to go back to a discussion which I had started after our TGE. When we first launched, I had set up a proposal for denomination of ILV. Most of you said at that time that it was too early for such a proposal.

At the time of posting this message the price for ILV is around 450$ per token. Which gives us a fully dilluted cal of 4.5B, this is a fenomenal achievement for the project. Congrats to everyone especially the team.

What is the main purpose of the token?

The main purpose of the token is its utility in the Illuvium game. The current price is so high that the threshold for buying the token and using it in the game is too high for the masses. That is why I want to discuss a denomination of ILV.

What does denomination mean?
For example: IF you hold 1 ILV then it will become 10 ILV or 100 ILV. In the meanwhile the price will also shift in comma’s thus 450$ will be 45$ or 4.5$.

1 ILV / 10 ILV / 100 ILV
450$ / 45$ / 4.50$

In simple terms, you would get more ILV tokens but the price will be lowered in the same ratio. A good reference is Polkadots.

Concerns:
I have been talking to the team behind the scenes and it seems the biggest disturbance is the staked ILV. Everything else is technically possible.

The main issue here is that a majority of community needs to feel comfortable with this as well cause everyone would feel it.

What do you think about this? Keep in mind that the main purpose is to have a P2E gaming project for the everyone.

We've had an extensive discussion about this in governance somewhat recently, as I'm sure you guys had months ago as well. I think the conclusion was in order to do a token split during the yield farming phase, everyone would have to withdraw all their stakes, and it would not be worth the fuss just to try and fool uneducated people into thinking its 'cheap'. These people tend to be the worst investors anyway and it wasn't seen as worth it to try and artificially pump the price. Quality will win out in the end.

I'm not for token splitting because it doesn't actually do anything. Small numbers are not inherently worse than big numbers, and I haven't seen many people complaining about not being able to afford an ILV. The people who have complained about it haven't looked at the total supply or market cap, and pretty quickly understand with a bit of explanation.

The downsides I see are:

1. Needing everyone to unstake their tokens in order to do the split.
2. Confusing the market by increasing the supply by a factor of 10 or 100.
3. Tanking the token price, making it "look" like ILV got dumped HARD (something the tokenomics are specifically designed to prevent, and a huge appeal of the project)
4. It doesn't actually DO anything for anyone.

Basically, the pushback you're getting is because most of us feel it's not a discussion that we should be wasting the core devs' time on in the near term. But if you must, I am anti-redenomination because:

1. on a cosmetic level, it may look make the coin look cheaper to your dumb investors who can't wrap their head around a market cap, but it looks like a desperate marketing move to pump the coin price to anyone that isn't in that category;
2. attracting dumb investors does not help the future of a DAO where tokenholders' votes may impact the appointment of key decisionmakers;
3. logistical costs of doing the token split outweigh benefits for long term ILV holders (may benefit those who wish to sell after short term pump from redenomination);
4. on an emotional level, would like it if one day holding 1 full ILV was something people were happy to complete, akin to new investors happily completing their first ETH, rather than holding say a million SHIB coins.

I just want to tackle a few points here quickly 🙂

1. I fully support Wade in making people aware that posting messages in multiple channels is not something we want here. It doesn't matter if you are a seed investor, a balance sale buyer or someone who bought 0.1 ILV today. You have every right to your opinion and every right to ask people for feedback - in one place. We don't need anyone here to think they are "above" the rest or that their messages are more "important" than those of others. And if everyone would simply post their stuff in every available channel, this Discord would be a nightmare.

2. I am personally absolutely against any kind of denomination at this point in time. It deflects valuable resources from the team from way more important issues. Also, the high price of ILV speaks to a different crowd and I see no need to attract people interested in shitcoins or for us to have the need to get closer to other games and their token prices just to be easily comparable. A price worthy of the quality delivered might just be what makes us stand out from the crowd and in the end what we want is a ton of players spending ETH ingame. There is no need for cheap ILV for that.

3. Quoting your initial post: "The main purpose of the token is its utility in the Illuvium game. The current price is so high that the threshold for buying the token and using it in the game is too high for the masses. That is why I want to discuss a denomination of ILV. "

This sounds to me as if you didn't really understand what the ILV token is for in the first place, which makes your entire suggestion of a denomination baseless for me personally. The main purpose of ILV is NOT its utility in the game. ILV is the governance token and meant for Voting, Yield Farming and Revenue Distribution. None of these are a requirement to experience the game to it's fullest.

This is related to locking your ILV tokens to earn either ILV or sILV as "interest." sILV is an in-game currency alternative to ETH. Keep in mind that staking and claiming are transactions that require ETH gas as well.

Purely my opinion and not financial advice, but if you are talking about less than a full ILV token at this price I would just keep DCA'ing into ETH and not worry about swapping into / staking ILV. Especially if you just want to set yourself up to play when the game launches.

• Leviathan Arena: This is where whales will duke it out with no limits. All levels, enhancements and boosts will remain intact. This arena is pay to win and for whales or hardcore grinders.

That energy can be used for a variety of actions including scanning, gathering, battle etc. In theory you can even capture more than one Illuvial per travel but using your energy wisely and thus optimizing your spoils per travel will make a huge difference between good and less good players.
