the game is not played the way it should be played, I believe. people are just farming uverworld. The arena is the most important part of the game. Since people are just grinding, it's kind of pointless to keep grinding if you'll lose all your progress. Is not the game is not good. the problem is that would only make sense to grind if you get airdrop or keep the things that you get by grinding. That's why i think it needs another thing that gives points when holo become too scarce

as illuvium itself names it competition for the illuvium hunt, I would say it is a competition. So I myself for e think to have the right understanding of waht is going on. And Jsut sharing my thoughts about it. I play anyway and report whatever bug and so on i find.
