I hear you on this, however it wasn't because they didn't listen to the community, it was because they did.
Overworld was overwhelmingly seen as less important than Arena and PVP. Within the community and it was pushed for.

With that in mind, all games are still chugging along and I'm guessing Overworld will have a few more iterations, and we may actually be surprised by the upcoming one.

I'll be honest I don't feel illuvium has got off to a very good start communication wise this year. No dev blog, no showcase and no meaningful AMAs yet. Sure the team have updated us on bits here and there but it has always been the founders that rally the community with their passion for the project.

Yes I see where you are coming from. I would like more too.
However my thoughts are, having worked on the backend of a project. What we are experiencing is dissonance between the invested parties.
What all the different 'stake holders' ( in this context everyone invested in the project for whatever ever reason and working on the project itself) want and what is achievable and in scope to be deliverable. Are at odds.
It's a finite balance and often has issues, due the nature of how long things actually take, when you are ready and have all the ducks in a line to create hype ( very important, I've seen projects fail by bringing hype without back up ) and the nature of the web 3 space, the difference in time perception and the 24 hour cycle.
The only projects I've seen mangage without issue, are the ones that have very low community input.
I don't want that and I'm sure you don't either.
For me I'm okay with it. It hasn't been that long since they got back from holidays
