Illuvium: Overworld is built as a Single Player game like Witcher Mass effect Dragon Age ( personally i think that is awesome myself ) With 2 PVP arenas which are the only place you will see other players when the game launches.

Everyone starts out in the T0 area FTP area with 0 Illuvials but if you want to progress in the game you will need build a team of T0 illuvials and then to travel to the T1-T5 areas which have recurring travel and equipment costs its been said the economics is going to be more of a MTG/Pokémon trading card experience.

Its been said Every time you interact with T-1 -T5 areas ( with varying prices depending on rarity) there will be both fuel and equipment costs it been said a run could take apox 1 hour. So if you wanted to do 10 runs in T1-T5 area, you would have pay 10x fuel & equipment cost just like you would have to pay for 10 packs of cards

However None of the specific economic on pricing it self, times or anything else has been officially stated

Yeah, you get a full gameplay experience with the free to play option... meaning you'll have access to the Arena and Overworld game modes and you'll be able to travel to all regions and capture Illuvials and resources in them. The Illuvials and Resources would be "Tier 0" if you are playing for free.

You'll have to spend on a travel fee if you want to go to those same regions, but capture Tier 1+ Illuvials.

Yeah, it's certainly an alternative to the traditional games out there on Web2. With the technological innovations coming about and the move from Web2 to Web3, the overall idea in this "gaming revolution" that people are talking about, is that the assets you use in game are actually assets you own... just like one owns a house, car, furniture, etc. They can be sold later if they're not Illuvials or items that you find yourself using or needing in your inventory... or maybe if you ever quit the game. But rather than selling these in-game items for in-game "gold" like in most traditional games, you can get real life monetary value from it.

Tons of people I know have sunk a lot of money into games buying skins and whatnot... then when they finish the game and no longer play, that's just it. Those skins and items are just stuck in that game and all of that money is essentially "lost." You can't get a single cent back unless it's that in-game currency.

With Web3, you can spend that same amount of money on skins or the game to acquire the Illuvials or rare items (whatever you choose to do when you're playing), but you actually own that stuff and can later sell it.

It shouldn't be an expectation that you're going to "make millions" or anything like that, but you'd be able to recuperate at least some of what you've put in, if not all of it if you capture rare Illuvials or craft rare items/skins.

Just saying that you'll have to spend something if you want to progress to the Tier 1+ regions since the only way to travel to those regions is to pay the travel fee. That could be some of what you earn from the game, or out of your own pocket.

The team hasn't confirmed the costs for traveling to the Tier 1+ regions but Kieran has mentioned multiple times that it will be much cheaper than he originally anticipated. And from what I remember, they originally anticipated the cost to travel to be similar to buying a pack of trading cards.

There's no free lunch, if that makes sense. It's possible you can "win" sometimes and make something out of nothing, but not every time.

Ultimately any game has to make money. I think back to the hundreds of dollars I've spent in Hearthstone for card packs, the (about a thousand?) I've spent in PoE, and I don't really regret it. I don't truly own anything in either of those games though. That's the differentiator for me. Owning the stuff you pay for.

For free, you can get started in the game, get a feel for it, and maybe even make some capital to start engaging with the paid experience. Beyond that, you might have to put some money in to make some money. Some people won't make money at all. From what I've heard from the team, the goal is for the game to be enjoyable. Paying for doing something you like isn't objectionable to most people.

The DAO distributes 100% of vault revenue to token holders.

Revenue distributions are claimed through the official Staking App as unlocked ILV. The vault converts ETH spent in-game into ILV by the main Sushi pool, which increases the token price.

Well reading all of that, I say you should continue to pursue that initial interest you have in Illuvium. There's still a good amount of time to go until the public launch, from what I can tell. So plenty of time to learn more about the project and gauge whether it'll be right for you or not.

And again, you get the full game experience from the free Tier 0 gameplay... you can build full teams of awesome looking Illuvials, battle in the PvP arenas, and explore all of the regions available. It's just you'll only find those Tier 0 Illuvials in those regions, for free.

If you're trying to find that super rare holographic Rhamphyre (kind of like Illuvium's "Charizard"), then you're going to have to buy a pack of cards (pay the travel fee) and see if it's in the pack (aka the region you explore) 😄

yeah, my issue also... of course I want all official merch, but yeah, totally personal use.

One thing I am very scared to think is the problem I will have in getting the official merch.... Knowing how things are here in Brazil, once my items arrive in the country, the customs will charge me a fee for them, making everything cost double the price...
Once, I bought an official WoW Christmas sweater and could only receive it after paying the price of a whole new one as taxes..
I might need to send them to someone else, in a different country, and tell them to mail me claiming it's a a gift, to see if this works...
or maybe the ILV official shop can mail it as a gift after I buy 😊

Merch wasnt supposed to come out until after the full open beta launch but I suspect it is coming in large part due to how much it has been requested from the community

Illuvitars are entirely different and were always planned before the full launch, illuvitars will always be available to purchase once they are launched, only thing that makes them limited is that every set will only be available for x amount of time before a new set comes, these early sets before game release will be more of a treat for early comers to the project and will likely be the rarest sets in future

I guess they are two different issues. Imo it would be awkward timing to have illuvitars go through multiple batches before the beta, and the way it seems is that they will be released a good while before.

Illuvium zero is intended to be mobile/web. Arena is only pc but they have plans to integrate mobile play in the future. Overworld, shouldn’t even be on anything other than pc right now unless they create a build of the overworld that they then sell to web2 consumers through an Xbox/PlayStation with no blockchain integration(this could be an interesting way to generate revenue through the ip). No way to integrate the blockchain on those to my knowledge. And overworld would be shitty on mobile and I don’t want them to sacrifice quality of the game
