Skins require resources which are found in the overworld to craft them, they cannot be crafted without BluePrints however, BPs can only be found in Illuvium Zero to my knowledge

Selling fuel to the pool is a very important feature of ILVZ, that will also be a mechanic involving any and all other future games produced by the studio.

it's not that easy to explain in 6 sentences.
But i'll try:
Illuvium zero is a minigame that produces 5% of all fuel that you can sell in a balancer pool for fuel/eth.
The fuel is then used in the overworld + new titles, but in the overworld for curing shards, going on runs and making equipments.
Since the amount of fuel is lacking for lands, there are other things that can be obtained on the Illuvium zero lands such as Bleuprints.
While playing the Illuvium zero game, you can find blueprints that you can use in the overworld to make skins for your equipment.
Illuvium zero in this way is a fun game with incredibly fun logistic issues where you play to make money and a cool city, and sometimes stumble upon a blueprint that gives you a sudden burst in revenue.
Once the game is further developed you will be able to run around on your plot, where the buildings will be MASSIVE.
(speculation here: I think it could also be used as a guild-hub for later stages of the game where guilds gather in a Nexus and have some RP stuff or VR meets going on)

So basically: It is a fun game for those that want gamified stockmarket trading along with a hint of gacha-based revenue along with future features.

Nobody has said this, at all. My statement was that not all skins come from BPs. For example if you become world champion we might give you a “crown” skin.

It would be really stupid to have achievement skins come from researched blueprints. They should com me from achievements.

There are plans to have cosmetics for things like the boards in survival. But those have nothing to do with researching illuvials so there is no reason for that to be an IZ thing.
