But long story short... companies make money off "walling in their tech." It happens a TON in gaming. It's why I think I was the 1st or 2nd person to ever invest in Illuvium. I play A LOT of Madden (it's an NFL American Football game for the Aussies). Basically the NFL and EA Sports have intrinsic motivation to keep all currency/IP/tech inside of the game and never escaping their Garden of Eden.

So in Madden, I can buy players, make them better, build out teams, etc. Think of how teams in World of Warcarft can be bought and sold but it's not necessarily encourage or allowed. Or areas of Minecraft that can be monetized and advertisements sold in high foot traffic areas. Normally the company itself profits off of this.

Like with Pokemon... you play in a walled garden.. their walled garden that they profit from.

The promise of D64 (decentralized N64 with defi and derivatives built directly into gaming). DEXes, mirror assets (hello synthetix) borrowing players, lending players... entire marketplaces of NFTs (hello Universe I thought you'd be needed somewhere). Illuvium is BLOWING THE DOORS open on this.

So are other games we are attached to as an ecosystem because I invested in EVERY SINGLE good game that came out in and around Illivium. Civitas, NOR, AIFA.

The promise here is ONE OF THESE GAMES will tear down the walled gardens of gaming empires. And once that happens that game would act as a portal to all other games and you'd need a foot at the table of the first successful crypto game in order to build new ones inside of the Metaverse. So this is the GIGA BULL CASE of Illuvium. That's also why I invested in Polemos.

But all Illuvium needs to do is be 1. FUN 2. NOT operate in a walled garden. This is why we have 1. land 2. characters 3. the ability to improve on the characters/nfts. Illuvium profits from us playing the game and improving the value of OUR ASSETS but NOTHING like traditional games. The thesis is that will make us 1000x stronger in the long run and empowers the community and gamers to dictate and ascertain how value is distributed among the WORLD now that we have ESCAPED EDEN.

That's what we've been doing here for the past year and a half & why I turned down a $4m offer for all my ILV & am still diamond handing my bags.

what do yall think of buying silv2 at a discount vs buying Ilv and eth and staking in the SLP. My thinking is say you put $1000 towards SLP staking and with current APR you should earn roughly 100% for the year. But say you buy silv2 at $34 right now and then wait when the game launches hopefully early next year that same silv2 should be at least 90% of what ILV is because now silv2 has utility. This is what I like to compare Illuvium Zero to in my head as well... but I didn't play that much Sim City when I was younger... and certainly haven't played any Illuvium Zero. So I think I'm just digging deeper and deeper into a hole I can't get out out of.

Personally I have a bitter experience with a project saying "soon". Took over 18 months for them to deliver. That's pushing well beyond the words definition imo. Hate to see illuvium go the same way.

I agree there should be more defined update on progress. Its ok if timelines are extended and things arent releasing soon, but the community went from getting updates all of the time on releases, to getting absolutely nothing. Instead of going to the extremes, I think it would be best if the core contributors went with a solution in the middle, where they give us a progress report on all of the different developments of the game (Example: IZ Alpha 90% complete, awaiting final polishing and debugging, Overworld 50% complete, 3/6 worlds 80% complete, PB2 75% complete, awaiting X upgrades etc)

The ambition of the team is still there but last time when they talked about timeliness they were too ambitious and now they just don't know. But they're worried.
