Even as a f2p I'm struggling with it, I can see free stats but it just feels so far away from what the game is and about. Just feels like PNS have dropped the ball on this one

give you the opportunity to make the correct choice.

Like everything in the game, as f2p it will take longer. HOWEVER, it is, technically, free stats boost, even if it takes longer. You can refresh quests with diamonds in order to get better quests, which will give you more crops.

the crops never disappear until you hit level 8, and it will take ages to hit level 8, so it's slowly accumulating crops in cellar

just try to do these daily

do 50 helps daily
try to get as many epic seeds as you can if you want to spend diamonds
communicate with your alliance so you can focus one on at a time

Honestly as f2p cultivation is more f2p than people think especially once you start unlocking higher cultivation levels, more quests, and more planters

it works just fine after you start the healing process, it just does not retroactively change the healing timer or the amount of resources you spent to start that healing. it just magically removes some troops from the infirm. that's it.
