Also the reason she is the ark “Dora the explorer” is because she is a biologist who studied dinosaurs her whole life before she died and then is cloned onto an island full of them. Basically like if a 6 year old woke up in toy story world.

We know that there is a character in the show named Bob, who is a "recent square jawed arrival to the ARK" - clearly referencing how new players are referred to as beach bobs. Maybe the series could alternate between Helena's perspective in the past and the present in which we see Bob doing all the stuff that the player does in game. That way a genesis season could actually work. Probably not gonna happen but it'd be interesting.

They clearly understand that, but are wondering how a genesis based season would work in that context, since helena is off doing homo deus stuff throughout the storyline of genesis and her creation HLN-A is hanging around with the player. It seems likely that the story will end at extinction (if they include the DLCs in the show at all - which they should since otherwise it would be an incomplete story), but there is a slight possibility of it continuing into genesis with a different protagonist.

If this is the default survivor. Then they could always pass on the protagonist title to Bob.
Wouldn't be the first time a show did that.

Yeah. I've suggested that before. It's possible they could have each episode start with Bob doing things that the player would do, with it cutting to Helena's perspective after Bob finds an explorer note. It would still be mostly from Helena's perspective, but having just a little bit at the start of each episode to set up Bob as a protagonist would mean that once Helena's story is over, Bob could serve as a protagonist in the genesis storyline. Despite having some explorer notes of its own, most of genesis's storyline is based around the player and HLN-A so since Bob is clearly referencing the player as he is a literal "beach bob", it would make sense for him to be the protagonist for genesis. Of course, with what we've heard so far, it seems more likely that the show will entirely be about Helena, and Bob will just be a minor character used as a little reference to the game. But hey, we'll just have to wait and see. :)

I wouldn't say they 'retconned' it, since sadly it does make a bit of sense how 'a' Santiago can be here. Since it seems like clones can have multiple versions, making them more or less a 'model' of clones.
But that doesn't give the excuse to make his sacrifice in Extinction now meaningless.

Cause now, when he dies in the animated series. If you already know he's in ARK-2 it's more of a "Woopy fucking do. He's dead.
Can't wait till Santiago 2.0 comes into play."

It's one of the many reasons why i hate that respawning was canonized.
Cause now they can have stuff like this. Making character deaths basically meaningless.

The only game i know of that works with the concept of respawning was Undertale. And that's only cause the message of the game was to "Never give up, and always go through your obstacles."

We know that the first season will be 14 episodes long so this kind of implies that there will be more than one season. It also only mentions creatures from the island, so perhaps that first season will only be the island, as others have speculated.

They've said that it won't be entirely accurate to the in-game notes, and we know that they are adding some additional content. So far it seems like the new stuff is just fleshing out the backstory of certain characters before they arrived on the ARK - such as how Helena's wife and mother will be appearing in the series (likely in flashbacks). Some of the new characters they've added belong to tribes that were mentioned in the notes but we didn't learn that much about.
