#ark-2

I like your funny words, magic man. I don't know what those are though lol
But yes this is the logic. The bees had 10 or so genes each and they would be either dominant or recessive. Basically a massive series of punnet squares
Punnet squares are basically a simple way to manage genes
Okay okay, would make sense that I know nothing about it jaja
If I breed Aa with Aa, what babies can I get and with what % chance?
Best way to think about it is in terms of ark 1 stats
Because I think that may have been what they were trying to do in Ark1, but lacked the algorithm to do more than color+stat
Each parent’s stat is a “gene” with a 50% chance to go to a baby
Well, yeah, and that's why they did stats, but we are trying to break out of using stats. So how would that be implemented in a more general way, that still offers something valuable to gameplay?
Are we though?
Alot of games have stats + skill tree
Elder scrolls, assassins creed, etc
Well, sure, but I feel like ark can be more than any of those
Hmm, there could be a section of the skill tree related to traits, that is locked to normal leveling, and requires extensive breeding to unlock.
What about unlockable skill tree nodes based on achievements done by the creature? Survive a battle with low HP for a defense upgrade, maybe a bunch of battles to survive a lethal attack with 1 hp and a burst of speed, ect
Harvest a bunch of one kind of resource nodes to get better weight reduction on those materials
we know there will be a skill tree, but as of now we don't know how it will affect dinos, or if it even affects dinos or players only
True, just offering ideas for discussion. Not much else to do until we get more official info 😛
We can only speculate until they reveal more about it
Which is what we are doing lol
That could be a thing
Achievement based skills? That’s pretty interesting. It’s certainly an off the cuff approach
I think for genes btw you could have wild creatures pull from a “gene pool” X number of skills (let’s say 5). As you level them up they learn up to Y number of skills (let’s again say 5). Their children could inherit any of those 10 skills from the mother or the father, OR they could get a mutation which pulls from a special pool of skills that includes wild skills and extra bonus skills
Some skills likely confer bonus stats. The advantage to this over the ark 1 approach of free stat leveling is that you can hard cap stats more cleanly by capping the number of skills that boost a given stat
Yeah, I think it would be an overall much better way of going about it.
Do you think there would be one big tree that all creatures have access to, or specialized trees based on genetic roles (Gatherer, Flier, Underwater, Assault, ect)
Or bit of both? 🤔
It’s a good question. I think the best option would be specific skills for each creature out of a large pool of “creature skills”
Say there’s 200 creature skills. A rex gets 20 possible ones, a raptor gets 20 possible ones (some overlap with the rex, and some don’t), etc
I mean, personally I want to see more like 75 per creature, but that would take a bunch of coding lol
I think one nice thing is that the skill system is a great place to expand things as development continues
I think depending on skills less is more. 10-15 skills but they can be leveled up over time to be stronger would be likely a better option than 70 skills that are shallow and can’t be leveled up
Yeah I guess like 10 or so skills with level ups would work
Lol, a lot of very popular games have skill trees
it would be cool if we had a flier in arkII that flew like ravens do
what I specifically mean is, ravens are unique in that they are the only bird on the planet that actively fly upside down

Ark PVP is very political, I've never see someone denied near top stat ( 4 or so muts behind) dino when asking for eggs, unless they were rude about it.
Couldnt have said it better myself lol
Ark pvp is political, but the ui doesn't lend itself very well for aiding that much. If anything it kind of hinders it
I mean it's a learning curve mainly. You could have tribes of 50 with all top stats get wiped repeatedly because they dont know core game mechanics, defenses, or bad leadership.
Yeah that's true, but the ui could have stuff to make it easier to manage the politics
That's interesting, what did you have in mind?
Hmm, I don't know really
Maybe a trading or looking for allies on the server or something
The conversation the other day got me thinking about tribe ui and such. I haven't really come up with a detailed idea yet
it would look cool at least
could possibly be used as a way to gain momentum
Please let the game not be an endless grind please let the game not be an endless grind
it'll have to have an endless grind to keep people playing. The question is how much of that is gonna feel optional as post game content versus required to do anything
Maybe have some more furniture and decoration pieces too
Must've been rude lol
I'd give you some ffa manas
But you can breed then
Whoa, those are some janky trades. Ffa is just free for all, imprinted ones we got from raids which we give to new guys to get them started while raising
Endless grind = endless building which I'm down for
But when you join a " mega" you should've been give a care package to get you started.
Dont tell me you got jipped
Naw standard packages should include : 2 personal vaults, atleast 6 cryofridges ( to start) , 2 personal fridges, a selection of starter tames plus access to all ffa tames, an initial set of top farming and PVP eggs/ babies. And full access to all public tribe gear/ equipment/ resources.
Lol, I never got that as a standard package lol
I never got a mana until I was put in charge of breeding them jaja
Nah all a standard package needs is one tickle chicken
Some tribes are just bad, I would recommend leaving them jaja
Yeah that's not a mega lol
That sounds like a startuo
Best is to be unaffiliated tribe with mega friends
Ark 2 should be what primitive plus was supposed to be imo
I said supposed to be
No more metal architecture, electricity, or tek
Well now you have some standards to expect when joining a tribe in end game lol
Return to caveman
Isekai cavemen
Yes exactly
Everyone has to be caveman now
Humanity shall usher in a new stone age
With dinosaurs and aliens and unicorns and dragons
Me want tek
TEK
I see tek in the first or second dlc
I don't want to see anything like it until at least 4
they came out wit a full trailer like seeing all DLCS in stuff?
when ark 2 coming out btw?
2023
😭
Ark 2 gonna suck tbh, to animated
I’m not sure what this sentence is supposed to mean
I hope they give us reasons to hold areas besides good base locations or fob spots.
yeah, air sucks too. too airy
This water is too wet
wtf
this chat has too much chat
XD
how dare it
You laughed too much.
You will be sent to the Gulag.
Too much labor at the labor camp
To much green in me forests color palette
too much stone in this stone
To much dinosaurs in my dinosaur gaem, trash gaem
you should try dry water
I dont like ice that much
You know, if only someone could post a screenshot of ARK-2 in here randomly like Dollie just did in the animated channel. 🤔
(Jat. That's your que)
I have discovered that birds fucking 'LOVE' music. And will actually dance with it. (and sometimes, parrots will even sing the lyrics of the song)
I will be angy if ARK-2 doesn't allow a rex to start break-dancing when you start using some war-drums.
Highly doubt Tek will be a big thing considering Ark 2 is set on a planet planet and not another Ark itself, but I guess a few Space Dolphins who survive Gen 2 could just nuke the world after flying to fast
Or floating whatever they do
Gang man style war drums
Make it so it automatically plays something hard asf
Dorime on the drums
I'd like a mix of both
like 7 notes we can play manually and then have some tracks we can select to play automatically as well
Sure ye
Maybe not for drums but some woodwinds could be super cool
Wasnt the entire crashed space station tek?
There's 2 so you gotta clarify which one
I mean the entire space station and drop pods were tek right? Along with Santiago interacting with a terminal of some kind to shut it down? I know the devs aren't haveing it but they gotta make it fit in lore better
The space station has tek but don't think it was just entirely tek but it stabilises itself once in orbit of the planet.
Rockwell wasn't on that ship
Rockwell was on the one from Gen 2 which causes the other ship carrying Vin Diesel to eject pods.
Yeah and then that ring and main part of ship exploded
Wouldn't there be debris flying towards orbit like in the post credit scene?
Even if the debris somehow stayed safw in orbit wouldnt the ring that had the pods have exposed elements or tek?
The ring only gets hit by debris but it doesn't get blown up
In the ark 2 trailer you can see the ring part opened and ruined
In the last scene the ring is seen broken
Wait in the Teaser or Trailer
Because if its in the trailer I've only watched it once and forgot about it ngl
In the trailer last scene
When the logo pops up
And moments before Santiago messes with tek but maybe he turns off the bluetooth element? Ots the only thing i can think of
OH smh ye I know what you mean, it could be a lore reason for why Teks are a thing in Ark 2 but it might also be why there is no Teks around since they could've just got yeeted and died
Teks? Bluetooth element? Tf...
Your Tek Raptors don't have Bluetooth speakers? @tropic crag
Damn, I must've got the toshiba brand tek raptors, smh my head
Fr though, the Eden ring may have crashed for all we know, and I highly doubt there's much of the rest of the ship that didn't burn up in orbit and made it to the surface
The devs said the reason the federation suits work is cuz bluetooth element like wireless
Uhhhh, I dunno about that one mate, I remember them saying it worked on the ship because the ship powers it, but they definitely don't use element to do so, that negates the whole purpose of the ship, to escape the overuse (and eventual extinction by) element
