For instance, Helenas wife not being mentioned in the notes because perhaps she didnt exist in the concept at the time isn't a reason to discredit adding one later, when the character is developed further. And this is possible because its made up. If Helenas wife was part of the concept when the notes were written then we probably would have picked up reference to that, as would be the case with a real person.

the reason the other authors are more "fleshed out" is because they sometimes recall their past lives in their notes

Helena is the only one who is more focused on the current situation where she is in

I personally would hate if Helena, the protagonist, motives are just to want to "explore"
This isn't Dora the fucking Explorer. This is ARK. A brutal world where you're cloned and forced to live and adapt on space-stations full of dangerous animals for a test that will hopefully save Earth.
If they use her wife as a driving motive for Helena, on an 'actual' interesting reason why she wants to escape, then i personally find it fine.

But changing her motive as a whole was necessary.
Cause otherwise, she'd be a boring as hell character. Which she is in the notes.
