Does anybody know how to stop crashing on Abberation and Astraeos on an Xbox Series S? I can’t even get to the character loading screen on Abb before it completely kicks me out of the game.

The game has been restarted probably over 100 times. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the mods. I can only run Island on the lowest possible settings, no grass, no water reflection, no clouds, blurry graphics.

Xbox Series S tends to struggle running ARK, especially on larger maps. Even without mods it’s known to crash more often due to the system’s limited hardware. When mods are involved, it can make the crashes even more frequent.

Pretty much sadly, I would try to load in without mods see if you're at least able to transfer out. Aole people on our server that play on xbox series s can only play the island and scorched earth and even then if they get too close to a big base they tend to crash.

nvidia does it best to give you FPS if you have settigns to high and you start lagging it will force the textures to look like playdough for better FPS... its a balancing act to find the right settings that work for your system, i would reset the entire thing to default and start over

Ok there's a massive FPS drop if you open your inventory or every time you open your inventory and noidea why, we really need the devs to look at it because as far as I can tell and the coder I was working with yesterday or the day before can tell it's a studio wildcard problem which is an issue if you're flying and your FPS drop from 78 or 100 down to 20 or 40 but it's better than what I was getting which it was dropping to 10 or 0, @heady dawn @carmine lance

that sounds like you have insufficient video memory to load the game. you cant set the quality higher than you can physically handle. the graphics (textures) are streamed from the game install, not downloaded.. but you are basically correct as to what is going on

Unreal5 uses frustum and occlusion culling to only render what is in front of your screen. If you spin around quickly or look away and then look back it has to load everything all over again and work harder. A slow hard drive and low amount of Vram make it very visible how often you are constantly loading the world. Standing still and walking slower will let your machine catch up a bit.

in your inventory the game doesn't have to do the framegen since it's more or less a static image, so it only runs the native fps, not the framegen-boosted one

only way to keep them the same is to turn of framegen or to turn off fps limiter

Has anyone found a workaround for dedicated servers when your ISP can't give you a static IP, and therefore you can't setup port forwarding?

My friends and I are running on a Nitrado server. and I'm constantly frustrated because I know my old gaming PC could be running a whole CLUSTER for us if I could just find a way to let anyone outside of my flat connect to it.

Ark can't be the only game that needs port forwarding. There has to be a solution.

I've tried VPNs but the ones I've looked into that have claimed to have port forwarding give you one randomly assinged port each time you log in to the VPN... which seems inadeqaute for Ark's needs.

you mean a self-hosted dedi like thru steamcmd? check "show player servers" at the bottom, type in the server name and hit refresh. never had any issues with my servers showing up for anyone

Well, sometimes i can find them within ASA itself searching by name, but connecting direct using the IP address (regardless of port) never seems to work for me in game, and i can never see servers on the steam server side (not suggesting i cant join with a steam version of the game, just not able to use steam's server viewer application)

but other times, the game refuses to see my server locally on the LAN

especially when it's running on my UNraid server through a docker. I have to run it via a native windows dedicated server

well, when the game first game out, the dokers worked fine, but sometime shortly after release, ASA broke the functionality of unraid to be visible to the game client, and i only just gave up and built a windows server to host from and it's fine (ingame now)

it just sucks having to have another 150 watts added to my server rack just to play one game.

docker is a virtualization environment, it has nothing to do with the actual server's behavior if it is set up correctly

a full on normal windows VM should also work, and wine should, but i have not seen it tested recently

Yea, i started to make a windows VM, but the overhead was eating into my NAS/plex performance, and windows basically rendered my dedicated gpu intended for encoding as exclusively for windows, which ground all streaming to a hault outside of native streaming

rag uses more memory. less for mods. game/console crashes if you run out, since consoles dont have any fallback

i have a question for people im doing a playthrough of all maps from the island 2 the center and everything in between so story mode maps first so island to exticntion and well im thinking when i beat the final boss in alpha a creature of my choosing gets a buff so at the end since there are 5 main non modded maps would it be fair for 1 creature that survuved the fight with the alpha boss of each map to get a 100% imprint buff to them so basicly they would get in the end 500% imprint after defeating all bosses on alpha for each map so i could either choose 1 new crature on scorched to get the imrpint buff or i get to buff the first creature basicly creating a linage and that one creatur ethat gets the buff comes to the next map and in the end is crowned the god is that cheating ps its in single player

Hey, Whenever I open Ark on steam specifically steam, It loads normally and then after 10-30 seconds, the screen freezes, Nothing works buttons aren't clickable the mouse does move, but it dosen't go on anything things I've tried are, All options aka low memory direct-x10 and properties, In task manager it dosen't say frozen or anything, Any help would be appreciated. I do have the xbox edition on PC and it works perfectly fine, The steam version isn't due to mods, With or without mods it still freezes after 10-30 seconds. Cactus broth with a good fab shotgun and a fab AR for bursting the homing orbs. No tames needed, but for Alpha I'd recommend it. Skip over Gamma and go straight for Beta. You can use flak armor inside his arena, as there is no radiation. But you should re-equip haz before you beat him, or you will die mid ascension cutscene and lose all of your stuff (I speak from experience)

Riot will be too heavy, you need to be fast, and remember to bring a fab AR to shoot the orbs, or they will tear through your armor

(From experience, again)

If you get all of the orbs, the fight should be a walk in the park. You can bring tames to make it go by faster, and easier, but you don't need them.

And as I said, don't do Gamma. Go straight to Beta, there's almost no difference between the two, and you want the full tek set in one go. It's not worth it to fight him on Gamma and then have to come back and do it again on Beta for no reason.

IF you bring tames, you get more orbs to spawn, so you waste more time to destroy them, or you have more risk atleast to get hit by them

i can only find private servers that i've previously played on and favorited. If i use a device that hasn't been in one, there is no way for me to join them - it shows up as offline (on the ones with it favorited) and i have to click on them and hit refresh like 3 or 4 times before it will actually show the server as being online and with the correct (current map).

its really weird. I only have 3 machines out of 6 that have the server favorited, anyone have any tips on how to get around this weirdness?
