0xffffffffffffffff is basically the dedicated "this thing is invalid" number in computer-speak, so it would be a bug of some sort. something touched the invalid. a memory leak would clearly state that you ran out of memory. #bug-reports it with the whole error message and exactly where it happens

Is the issue with the extinction map just being ignored? Really annoying that support is still "temporarily" down; seems permanent. Especially when game breaking issues don't get acknowledged at the very least.

All of the maps with the exception of extinction downloaded no problem. This was part of the separation so they could be removed at will instead of taking up unnecessary space. Others are seeing this issue with extinction as well. It won't let me jump to that map. It won't even let me start a new character claiming I don't own the map. It takes me to download it, says I own it, then refuses to install. I just want some acknowledgement so I can know it will be worked on instead of ignored like seems to be currently happening.

Nope. And I've tried removing it but it won't give that option because it's not technically installed. But it also won't install. I've tried everything short of deleting the game and re downloading and the only reason I haven't tried that yet is because from what I can understand it's a coding issue and not something that I can fix on my end. Ok fixed the map problem. For those who have got the same problem that the game tell you to purchase the map and you already own it. You ONLY PURCHASING the map. It is NOT installed after it. Go to your game installation and you will see the map is not installed. Mark it and install it. The game will not ask you again after it. Cheers.

They were intentionally made to be separated because the game is getting quite large and it's meant to ease some of that need for space for some people. I expect by the time all the maps come out this will help a lot of people.
Currently a lot of people are experiencing issues with it refusing to install properly

I'm receiving an installation error when I try to install extinction. It doesn't give this error on console but during remote play I tried adding the map to my wishlist, no problem. Tried to install, installation error. It mimics the behavior from console but on console it just stops installing. On the website it shows an error 🤷‍♀️

If it's saying it's a broken file, i'm pretty sure that means that your version of the mod is corrupted. You will need to reinstall any mods that say that and it should stop saying that.

Im using Ark on PC and after the update, the processor uses 100% only for me being in the Ark menu screen. This makes the fps ingame suffer drastically. Anyone else had this after the update?

I've got the same issue. I think it has something to do with the Nvidia Framegen that we can't turn off. I think the frame interpolation gets really messed up and it stops understanding what it has to do. I'm running the game on an RTX 4060, everything up to date, game re-downloaded and file integrity checked. With or without mods, I start the game and it runs at 70 FPS for a few minutes. Once I open the inventory, which, I imagine is a bit more intensive than is should be (or there's some sort of memory allocation error,) my render latency jumps from 22ms to 520ms, and my FPS drops to 5

The only way to fix it, is to switch between full-screen and windowed, enable/disable vsync, or do anything else that causes the renderer process to reset. No idea what the issue is, but it's genuinely unplayable

Lemme clarify. FRGEN and NFRGEN do the same thing. They generate artificial frames that they add in-between the frames rendered by your GPU. However, FRGEN is AMD's solution, which works for pretty much anyone regardless of whether or not they have an NVIDIA card, while NFRGEN only works for those who have an NVIDIA RTX card. Functionally, the difference between them is that FRGEN eats more RAM and looks worse than NFRGEN which eats more VRAM and looks better.

When you turn them off, that's when you see your real FPS count, without artificially generated frames. The main issue with framegen is that interpolating these new frames in-between your regular ones increases the render and input latency making the game sometimes feel floaty. The entire thing is more complex, but this is the simplified version

Previously when I had weapons or clothing in the inventory there was an overlay at the top part of the item showing how much armor one piece has or how much damage a weapon deals. Now the only number on an item is its weight. Is this a bug? Is there another setting I missed?

All I know is I tried a few commands earlier about turning fidelity stuff to 0 and found an ini command that supposedly disables frame gen completely but I only get around 15 frames that way where as I can log on right now and get 40 to 50 stable frames but just after a few min the FPS will go all the way down to 5 FPS and never come back up. 🤷

The game is designed it seems to run at low frames and really relies on FG, thus it is forced. So you should really try to optimize it for 30 fps. If you use an external counter, this should report 60fps (NVidia 3.0 fg is 2X)

It will show 30+ in green on the in game fps counter.

Let me describe my problem again:

ARK SURVIVAL ASCENDEND has recently updated its engine to UE5.5 and has decided to not offer all maps the game has by including to the base game but to have them offered sepperated in for example steam that i make use of.
Now i cannot download all those official maps of ark in the steam.
First of all i have to start the game in the base main menue of geforce now to even go to a placei have the steam browser access to download the map:

Pushing the button doesnt take any effect, maybe becasue the game is already started and the background.

In the game browser itself the game sometimes realizes the map is payed and available on steam (sometimes it says please buy the map):

By clicking the "annehmen/accept" button the same steam browser window as above opens with a second tab showing the same download button again

This time by clicking the button it asks if steam is installed and "yes, its installed" or "no, please download":
The yes button has no effect, the no button leads to a steam download window i didnt tried because its to be considered useless.

The frustration factor here is high and i assume it is for all players that do ark + geforce now.
Please have it fixed, and dont hesitate to ask me for testings or any further info about it.

You literally have to run the game at 1080P low/med settings. With FG and DLSS it puts the VRAM usage to 100% and starts using system memory.

It’s mostly due to variance in settings. It was this way at ASA launch too.

Every time we try to load in, even with no mods, it says it is downloading mods. This is happening for everyone on the server. I have contacted Nitrado but have not had any luck yet.

SO when i manually turn of FRGEN with commands and turn on NVFGEN with command, it still shows in statfps as FRGEN BUT im getting less frames, which would indicate that it is infact using nvidia but statfps is displaying incorrectly. NVFGEN generally has less frames than AMD FI just due to nature of how they both work

yes but at least in my case frame gen isnt even on regardless of what the settings menu says, even before this update the settigns menu was never correct and didnt work i had to change everything through the gameusersettings.ini and add startup commands to engine.ini

yeah i run this specific driver because its the most stable for VR and frame gen , i only did update in hope of the engine upgrade lol

I’d try installing that and see if you can identify when the issues are occurring. I will also say the game didn’t like me alt tabbing out. Could be heat related. Make sure card is at 100% GPU usage. VRAm usage.

The only fix I’ve found for map transfers is to go to transmitter/ob, let character upload and transfer to map. Let your game crash. Log back in and choose the map you were transferring to instead of the map you’re on.

Ok, I've cooled off. The game stopped crashing after 10 seconds upon loading in (has been doing for the past 2 months). There's still an ongoing issue, that looks like it's been going on for several years. I've seen posts dating back to 2023. This discord won't let you post links to like forums and stuff. I'm not sure Wildcard or whatever the dev's company's called is aware. I'm not sure how to file a ticket or something if they are not aware, but this makes single player unplayable.

Single player does - not - save progress after several hours of gameplay on console. The only thing that MAY possibly get saved is your character's location on the map. Structures, tames, crafted items, gained levels, etc vanish after logging out and back in. None of it's there. The community has come up with many work-arounds (some examples of workarounds listed below) for the save issues, but it eventually fails to save completely. Make note that I am not using mods.

1.) DestroyWildDinos Command to clear the dinosaur population to make it easier to save (eventually stops working)

2.) Building Foundations at location 50,50 to prevent the dino spawn glitch. (Have not attempted)

3.) Changing a setting, saving from the settings menu, then closing the app without exiting to the main menu (eventually stops working)

4.) Dying and respawning to force a save (has never worked)

5.) SaveWorld command (has never worked)

6.) Reducing dino spawn rate in settings (found out today and will try)

7.) Exiting the game then loading back in after allowing some time to pass. (has never worked)

We should not have to do all this nonsense to SAVE PROGRESS in a game that needs us to progress. That doesn't make sense and there's legit no point to playing the game. Please Help, Fix, or Advise.

For anyone on Xbox who cannot transfer this is what I had to do: I went to my games, went to Ark, hit the button with three lines for options, went to manage game and add ons, selected Ark, clicked on manage installation on internal storage, then I had to re select the maps to download because they were “installed” but not downloaded. Then I had to restart the game, go to create or join game for single player to load all the maps, then I was able to transfer

So, My hubby and I Noticed after 5.5 update that we are randomly going invisible, but when it happens to us, water disappears, and so do dino's tamed and wild..can't see what is attacking, and sometimes it comes back, other times you have to completely restart. That happened to me a couple months back. The only way I was able to fix it was reinstalling the game entirely. Also there is an ongoing issue with mods on console not properly updating/installing which has not been fixed as of yet.
