So, from what I can gather, not sure how many of these are still an issue -
Microsoft needs(ed) to basically approve the last patch so it works properly
Make sure xbox-only multiplayer isn't checked, as it sometimes does
In general make sure the filters are not too restrictive
And, making sure everything is updated.

Outside of this, it might just be a waiting game. I am sorry.

I'm not aware of any good metal farming in the island oceans. A lot of people use dunkies in the center and astraeos. Those maps have good underwater farming.

They are really good at farming stone too though! I use mine for that sometimes.

@heavy cedar there is a continuous issue seen in chat as well as in game with no Rockdrake spawns on valguero and a extremely rare or if not absent spawn of Reaper on Valguero as well.

I continue to direct people to make tickets on this but am unsure if perhaps the plan is to no longer have these on Valguero.

Got that problem on extinction in the cluster I play on. But I think it might be because we currently have last year’s fear ascended mod going. It’s replaced all the corrupted giga and Rex with regular gigas and normal/ghost rexes

The others I play with consistently play with outlines on, but I don't and don't think it's too bad when I'm not using outlines.

there are three kinds of mods in ASA, as far as players need to worry about. maps are.. maps. new playable levels. normal mods change or add game mechanics/content. those need to be installed by the server/host and all players. cosmetic mods are just outfits/visual replacements, anyone can install them freely if the server allows using them.

Just watch mod size there is a hard cap for consoles lower than PC. But not horribly low. You can still add a chunk of fun mods and skins to use in game.

the stuff to avoid are skin packs, dino mods, and structure mods that add a ton of new stuff. extremely limited memory on console makes it easy to run out and crash, or brick your savefile

keep it to a few smaller mods of that sort

especially if hosting/singleplayer, as that uses more memory to start

Yes and no. I admin for a YTbers servers cross play with QOL stack mod few Dino mods. But when you start getting into maps that when memory fills fast. Cosmetic mods are usually pretty light

If you are playing on a server turn off dynamic downloads. That will stop you console from loading up cosmetics skins eating memory for stuff you don’t even use.

no shit. the point is that is not memory. you are confusing two very different things. console marketing makes it intentionally abstract, though. anything that is adding new visual assets in-game is going to hog memory. how many mods you have installed has no impact on that

gameplay altering mods like stack mods usually have little to no effect. filesize of a mod is only indirectly related to memory use by it

The Steam version is updated frequently. Every time I start up the game to play, there's an update. Because the update carefully checks all files, I end up having to wait over an hour. Patching for other games I've purchased on Steam takes just a few minutes. (Monster Hunter, No Man's Sky, etc. These updates are quick.)
But the ASA always takes over an hour.
This has been the case for over a year, so I've tried moving the ASA to another SSD and running an integrity check, but nothing seems to improve...
I have an M.2 gen4 SSD, but the read/write speed for the ASA update drops to 100MB/s. There is 1TB of free space.

There are alot of factors to consider when troubleshooting this. How much space do you have left on the drive? Are you trying to validate or update something else simultaneously, how much memory is in the machine? etc etc etc. What's the task manager show for performance? I can't sit down and help with this right now, but you'll need to supply whoever does help with all the information you can come up with.

probably a low-end QLC drive. a lot of cheap SSDs drop to horrible speeds after a lot of writing in a short time (like a big file copy). and yeah, a game that is 5-10% the size will patch a lot faster, even before considering different file structure

any game consisting of a few large archive files does the same thing.. little-known titles like the elder scrolls V: skyrim. we just dont notice now because the entire game is like 8GB?

it is complicated, most of the actually important specs for SSDs (NAND/flash type, controller model, cache type) are not written anywhere in their official specs or documentation

expensive does not equal high-end, specs are all over the place. bigger models can also paradoxically be slower due to using cheaper/slower NAND flash to fit in more capacity per chip

I see. So it's better to look for an SSD that has "excellent transfer speed (copy processing speed) for large files" as an explicit condition. That's a deep subject...

independent reviewers tend to test the speed of a drive under every common condition. the advertised speeds like "7000MB/s" are usually for perfect uninterrupted large file read. something games basically never do, and neither does much else most people use

I'm only just joining in on this conversation, so I have no idea what exactly was set above. But when looking for SSD test data, there is two statistics that matter, the sustained write speed, which is usually going to be slower than what a company advertises. And the IOPS, although that's not usually tested these days. At least from the testing that I've seen personally. Basically, it's just transferring a shit ton of small files as opposed to one or two large ones which is what the sustained write speed would usually be testing.

even worse that to install an update that wants to download 9.3GB, the game just told me 150GB free space on disk was not enough. Had to delete Dune to get enough space for ARK to inflate and deflate to update...

if you are playing online, server lag or bad internet can prevent inventories downloading to your end, making them invisible. that is impossible as the host. if you are seeing that while hosting, the items are actually gone, which is.. weird. what mods are you using?

yes i saw some videos stating that some mods can disrupt inventory, i had a few of them installed. i deleted them, quit the game updated the mods and deleted the old rag world and created a new one and the problem is still occuring. i was thinking maybe deleting the game and reinstalling it would help but not too sure

There’s no point to having over 300 weight because small to mid size dinosaurs can’t carry you, and crafting skill is pointless with anything past 1 point given the massive RNG and the scaling of primitive to ascendant items

@heavy cedar can you please have Dev/QA build an even medium size base fully using custom cosmetics on all the building pieces and then repeatedly log out and log back in and get this crash that happens fixed? Even my base thats barely using custom cosmetics, is still crashing on login. Its really sad such a major feature of ASA you pretty much have to not use or turn off automatically showing them because the games unplayable with it due to crash on login.

Turning off "Automatically download Custom Cosmetics" (aka, setting it to On) fixes the crash, but then requires you to de-render the the base to see it, but wont install any new custom cosmetics you don't already have installed. If it auto downloads, high probability of crash on login.

I think when you kill something theres a chance the corpse will have vines and a flower on it and you can harvest that for additional resources but you might have to jump off and harvest it by hand

I haven't built on a quetz saddle in ASA yet but I know carts act like that too. It may help to build a small hangar kind of building to walk it into so you can stand above it and place things. Hopefully stop you from getting knocked around or falling through at least.

when usually going from 1080p to 4K rendering is like -80-90% performance for me

the r.VolumetricCloud 0 r.VolumetricFog 0 commands do help performance however

yes, those dont do anything, the console wont even recognise them

only novsync would have a chance to do something, but devs let you toggle vsync from the menu so thats useless too
