So when the core/base fps drops to around 40 on the lows, occasionally i get some small artifacts in the tool bar/hot key shadows and sometimes things that are normally really crisp sharp lines get momentarily “soft”

But i’m not experiencing any input lag, which is weird. I guess i expected more of that. But it plays really well.

It jumps NONSTOP when wild, how tf am I supposed to lure this thing into a trap? It moves 90% upwards and downwards, it never even hits me with a swing, only with dashes.
Therefore you cant kill it with spikes and you cant outrun it either.
You would have to build like 4 behemoth gates for this little annoying thing.

It may be your GPU bottlenecking some unoptimised graphics or even the grass, I turned my “Grass.SizeScale” down to .9 it lowers the grass but you get less of the weird flickering of clay graphics and weird shadow issues

it is an issue because there is just not enough data to accurately gather light/shadow on stuff that is barely a few visible pixels over a few frames. you will need to use higher global illumination quality and/or not use dlss

Because devs are cooked with every update they push bro. Easy as that. Omtimization on ASA is tanked on all PC's rn. Getting less frames every update, loading into bases takes 20x longer, and the game just runs choppy to the point where it gives you a headache.

Sounds like you have to issue a rollback. See if there are any saves for a current date and use them its under backups. Unless its a modded maps then you should reach out to nitrado directly and they can roll it back for you on the backend because the backups you have wont work.

Are you looking under " restore backups " or are u under general. Becsuse there are 2 ways to backup. The restore backups tab, it typically has daily backups there.

But if the last save was from a few days ago then that is what you have to work with. I never had it where days of progress is lost out of no where. There was always a way to go back to each day maybe not a specific hour.

Oh absolutely, no lack of well-done eye candy in Ark, that's part of the appeal. I just don't know what more I can do without completely revamping my system here when my CPU isn't bottlenecked, my GPU is also only runing at 80-90% utilization, at 4k, and my base FPS is still 30 so I have to use upscaling and frame gen to get to a smooth fps.

Agreed. On epic at 4k, the core FPS sits around 35, so around 120-130 with quality dlss and frame gen. But when the base fps drops to 28-30 when loading into a base or new chunk of the map, the strange artifacts show up for just a moment and break the immersion.

There are mobile versions of ASE. Which means they can eventually get things in working order for small hardware. That's just how consoles are going to need to be optimized going forward, and they're working on it step by step. It'll just take more time to iron everything out in the long run.

But that's the baffling thing I mentioned. All cores are around 15-20% on the cpu, and the GPU sits around 80%... I guess I'm just constantly wondering why there isn't at least a maxed out single core on the CPU to make sense why the GPU load is not at capacity. And vice versa.

And I suppose that's when you chock it up to "optimization issues".

Well you already know there is an FPS cap in the game options you can check, which is off. But I hadn't considered that maybe there is an internal windows/nvidia setting capping the base FPS.

The suggestion that I see between console community, is start with the lower resolutions and refresh rates, play test for stabilization... and if you're happy with the way it performs, you can try to bump settings from there.

A lot of those guys are crashing their consoles because they have all the mods and they also want to make every graphic setting maxed out.

That makes a little more sense at 1080p. It starts to not make sense at 4k. The two highest cores on the 275hx are core 10 and 13, with a utilization of 55% and 63% respectively. Other cores are between 10-30%. Thermals around 65c. So the GPU being in somewhat of a stall state and no parked cores on the CPU just doesn't quite add up. But I'm looking to see if there's any windows settings I should switch up, too.

That is to say, in Ark, the only thing that changes is it uses about 3gb more system ram and 1-2gb more vram... in terms of framerate and all other %-usages, they stay almost the same between the two resolutions. And that just doesn't pencil. Which is why I was saying earlier, that I wish it would soak up more vram to perform better.

Before I changed it I was using AMD Framegen and I had a lot of artifacting. I searched a youtube video on how to disable framegen and after that I enabled Nvidea framegen and Dlss quality ( before I changed I could only select Dlaa) after the change it keeps crashing after 10-20 minutes.

Ive always done this myself, but figured id get a broader opinion. If yall are breeding for stats, got your clean lines etc.

Say you have an hp line and a melee line. If yall get one of those fabled double or triple stack muts, and it stacks say...you get a double mut on your hp line, but only one is hp. Or a triple, but only one is.

Do yall dump that baby? I always have bc im very particular about making sure the first 20 muts are what im specifically breeding for in that line, but figure id get opinions

Pre 20, it’s better to only take the mutations you’re after. Post 20 (and assuming you don’t do negative mutations), it’s faster to just take the double/triple mutation

Since the latest Nvidia driver update (And yes, when playing recent games you need the latest drivers for better performance, so rolling back the drivers is not an option), the game crashes constantly at random intervals. Please update the game accordingly!
For information, I'm running an RTX 5000 series GPU.

and its not the devs fault that the latest NVIDIA driver makes this game (and potentially other UE5 games) crash.

Hi I’m having an issue with the game wondering if anyone knows a fix;
Playing on an unofficial server, transferred to another map, and my implant disappeared. straight after I could log back in but I would desync and timeout after 10-15 seconds. I killed myself, fast travelled using beds nothing worked, and I couldn’t transfer back of the map. I killed myself, created a new character, the admins sorted my levels and boss fights etc and it was completely fine. Then I logged off, came back on and continued to desync and timeout. I tried my wife’s account on my ps5, thinking maybe it’s my internet or something but her account worked completely fine on the same server. Would love to know if there’s a fix or if this game is just completely cooked. TIA

I'd like to announce a problem I've been having since the Ragnarock release update, it's impossible for me to join this ark from a server (I play on an unofficial server hosted on Nitrado) whereas all the other players manage to do so, during the transfer I systematically get a black screen followed by the message "connection timeout".
I've already uninstalled and reinstalled my game twice, deleting all the data from my computer. It doesn't change anything, and every time a new Map is released, it's the same thing: I have to wait for the next one to be released, or even longer, before I can join the previous one... Please do something, despite all the updates you launch, I still can't get to Ragnarock...

clubark works pretty confusing so dont blame you. you can be on an official server, press escape and you can join a club ark server from
that menu, it pulls up a serverlist but it wont transfer your character you will make a new character, but clubark characters work different than main cluster, so when you transfer out from clubark into your main character your orginal character will still be there and will have the items you could have won from clubark if you won any

steam cant do partial patches on games, it has no way to know the intricacies of their file structure. and reinstall will always be slower, unless the patch is overflowing to a slower drive for some reason. it should take a couple minutes on a decent drive

any files being altered have to be completely copied, then it applies the patch over them

Iirc, trapping or angering the mother or the child won’t give you taming progress, and possibly ruin the taming effectiveness. You can use any Dino eggs to distract the mother however, so taming another para or trike for eggs can work out.

but a "trick" you can do is start with a low level, they tame faster and then work your way up in the levels by claiming the babies with that low level one, though you are limited in the max level you can tame

I had 5 all blasting yesterday.
making beer,
Berry crops/Veg crops,
Filling troughs,
making Med brews
Cooking primes
Making Jerky
And doing metal,

Today only 1-2 taking berrys from crops and meat from fridges to the troughs but nothing else

i think the internal Observer aborting priority is not set correctly outside of the highest priority in the behavior tree (feeding the dinos), things like Narco or Stim crops and spoiled meat are being ignored yet the crop is right next to the mejos,

nondedicated is singleplayer, you dont need to (and cant, on console, since you cant access the config files) log in as admin

just open the cheat console and enter saveworld

that wont solve cases of save failure due to lack of memory, though
