Agreed. I love fantasy and dragons, but I got ASE for dinosaurs all those years ago and the more away from dino-centric game it goes, the more sad I am. Fantasy and dragons are everywhere, but dinosaurs are so rarely a central thing of media that isn't JP/JW. I tend to ignore fantasy tames because of that, save for maybe griffins, because swooping down on them is fun.

new game is far, far header lmao. it is not outside scope for a mod, just way more work than most modders are able to do. most are programmers and artists, not game designers. making gameplay is "easy", making good gameplay is a lot harder

I feel that big time. I play singleplayer, and decided to limit myself to no fliers playthrough, only use an argent if I want to move bases and don't have cryopods to transport dinos over big distances easier. Maps feel so much bigger and prettier when you need to traverse them on the ground and find actual routes and metal runs are fun when you gotta build outposts near nodes to perma house the ankys and make a small caravan to transport what you've mined.

Anyone know what to do about this, so I'm playing ASA on my Steam Deck with no problems, other then occassional FPS drops. But I just bought Astraeos and the map won't even open for me. And I play on Single Player, not a server. I pick Astreos in the map selector and click the Single Player button, then it goes to the loading screen, but after like a minute the game just crashes. This hasn't happened to me on any other map. And I can't seem to make it stop crashing when trying to start this one.

Xbox series x: Surprisingly (and thankfully) I’ve only crashed I wanna say 2, maybe 3? times since Rag launched and I’ve been playing near 24/7 minus work and a few 2 hour naps.

Not only that, but after sorting out the fog issue, this map runs smoother than any map on ASA up until now. I’m used to way more crashing and rollback-worthy bugs so I’m very surprised.

I feel so bad for my fortune since everyone else is having so many issues 😅

Some of its to keep from spamming foundations and preserve spawns. Lot of people like to enclose huge areas as bases, used or unused, and people can't farm for meat or find tames / trap. Or you get tribes that foundation spam and it supresses the spawns.

On single player and took over the classic castle not far from Viking Bay, noticed a funky thing happen to any creatures in the upper floors (my guess without survivor built foundations) where they’ll phase (or get stuck) in the floors. Had Snow owls, pego, and a robot those through 1-2 floors after tping from a different part of the map.

How is Astraeos on the Series S? Stability wise bc everyone in my friend group is blaming my Xbox combined with the map is the reason why I keep crashing when I try to log into a character on their nitrado server that isn't dead or why I crash randomly yet constantly when hovering around some areas and NOT the 60 mods they have downloaded. They have series X and PCs and while they say the game is kinda choppy and they have had rare crashes they still play and can log in just fine. This game is unplayable. There's a CE error every 10 minutes. Ark can generate money, but they don't care about ensuring players have a smooth gaming experience. I have so much fun with the game, but unfortunately the fun is being ruined by CE errors.

They are applying all patches as soon as they launch. They are very good with things like that. They don't seem to be having issues. But the lag complaint is very common ATM with players. They have both EU and US servers and I'm in UK so I play on the EU ones.

If you’re having large frame drops you need to turn the settings down. While your GPU can render frames at 120fps, likely Nvidia or whatever vendor has constrained your card with 8Gb VRAM have you’re using system RAM to cache textures.

If you have an 8GB card, you shouldn’t be using over medium settings. Also helps to use Balanced DLSS. It doesn’t look horrible at 1080P.

You want the in game frame counter to hit at least 30FPS. NVFRGEN (frame gen) on 30 and 40 series should 2x the frame count to 60 if you use an external counter like MSI/Riva

Singleplayer, also tested if my mods were the problem by deactivating them but it still crashed. I also went on the island map for like 4 mins and it didn't crash, but I don't have any playtime on there, so it is either the playing time or ragnarok is the problem

i think that was my issue is i changed my singleplayer settings. cus i was going strong for over an hour then i change one little thing and 10-15 mins later i crash and it gets worse
