If you have good rexes use them, their hp is unmatched

A yuty is a must, I was doing beta brood mother on the island with a friend with only a couple of dinos and if we didnt had a yuty it would be a boss fight lost

np, the only boss fight where you shouldnt use rexes is dragon, each dragon breath deals 20% hp less to the carnivores

Just use theris with 10 cakes each, but you will need top theris, mastercraft or ascendant saddle is also recommended

you can run spinos or rex's. spinos get thier hydration buff to help but they do take more damage. you can do it with out a yuti if you have good saddles and high melee on your rex's.

Coming to an end of my crystal isles adventure and I've gotta say. This map is kind of overhyped, even with the crystal creatures mod to play it closer to intended

Crystal isles in particular is a dissapointment because I held high hopes for it- Knew it when it was a mod map, the server I played it on had it as a main map back when it was a mod and my PC at the time could never successfully load into it. So I had all this hype and expectations built up for it, and when I finally get to it on this solo adventure going through all the maps... kind of a letdown

In fairness it probably does shine a lot more as a map on a server with lots of people living all over the place interacting with/killing each other

in fairness I am generally pretty biased against any map that can be described as "The Island, but...", and Crystal Isles doesn't do a lot to make itself not "The Island, but magic"

You dont need to go deep into the lake to get to them, just that they're hard to spot. So you dont need SCUBA either

They exist in the original places but are very difficult to see and so collecting them by hand is difficult

That's not how it works

Dinosaurs have a roughly equal chance of getting the stats from either parent. Mom could have 30 melee and 20 HP, dad could have 15 melee and 27 HP, and it's just a matter of luck if you get both of those better numbers on the offspring

Levels are simply the total of all the levels the animal has invested into its stats

The actual math is some complicated arcane nonsense and depends on server settings and whatnot

Reapers now include your player level when they are born. I don't know the exact maths of it, but yeah, if you want max level reapers, you'll need to be max player level

Theres a couple things i can think of, rock drake has two modes as such, one climbs, one glides. Its right stick click in iirc to change between, will show an icon on the top right of screen when in climb mode.
also they fall like a stone if you open a map whilst on them an try to start gliding, hope that helps

You let them breed, you collect the eggs/hatch the babies. If their stats are all identical, it's easy to tell when a baby has a mutation because it will be a higher level than its parents. Without mods, it's only going to be males you're looking to mutate, so that's half the babies you can just shotgun on the spot. If a male has a stat mutation you want, take his dad out and put him there to mate with his moms. And just constantly repeat the process until you have dinosaurs who can fight God

Thyla can't enter all caves, there is no better dino for all but for each specific cave. In some you might need grapple hooks, a pick to break some rocks to allow your thyla to enter, on others the thyla wont be able to enter, so having top baryonyx is the best choice, since I started using barys and thylas on the island I haven't used other dinos.

lots of people playing it on 3060s and 4060s, which is not a great experience, but a 3070 is a bit better. should do 30 fps 1080p on mid-high graphics, or 60 on lower if you tweak a few things. DLSS upscaling also helps if you can take the quality loss

Take this with a grain of salt, because I'm a 3090 player HOWEVER you might still find this relevant based on your resolution.

With my 3090 no dlss all settings on high ill get 50-70fps (usually around 60) at a 3440x1440p resolution.
Performance does get more consistent if you use dlss.

Only reason I'm joining the Convo is that I'm basically handicapping my performance because I'm running 21:9 in HDR

I had to reset the tame: pick up the egg the parent was chipping at, piss her off to trigger reset, peace out to let her lose aggro.

You can have the egg and parent right next to the nest, no problem. The issue is that the taming process is in some screwed up state. You can get to a known, good state by forcing a taming progress reset through angering the parent on you.

100% of the Aberrant Gigantoraptors were bugged for me until I figured this out. Now I'm up to mid-80s as the top tame and a half dozen standing by with saddles to hatch eggs. (Can load an egg with any level, but hatchlings higher than the GRs level get ejected onto the ground.)

as long as they are baby/juvi and they inherit the trait of the queen you got it from, but just did testing and some research the vampiric trait is the only one thats different for them. in general the vamp trait % is based on creature size but the reaper is unique in that they have it down to 0.5/0.75/1% im assuming because of its darkness resistance

so you can hunt queens for traits, ignore levels then get a good lvl queen and apply the traits you want to your good baby

Depends what you want to use it for? Mineral Bearing for more stone weight reduction is the first one I think of.

Kingslayer/Giantslayer, heavy hitting, warm, vampiric, etc would ones you'd find in the third category.

@runic beacon You basically want to have the 88 bonus levels from leveling it up. I want to say the Gira has to be above the level of the baby, as well. So you technically can do it with a level 63? Gira if you get the 88 levels to make it 151. But I think most people are going for the 140+ giras pretame, and then pumping the levels. But you definitely need the bonus levels.

I also feel like there's actually a chance to get those darn levels on Ab, with endless nameless and trilobite river. I live on Scorched, and the leveling game there is great for my wyverns. But my chickens, not so much.

If it's a timer thing do what Binx said but if you can't access the inventory of it you need to cryo pod it and uncryo it to fix it but if you have Cryopods turned off try uploading the Reaper and downloading it that too should fix that issue.

The way that the 'move to' works for taming a queztal is that you have to be hooked to your flyer with a grapple. Then switch weapons to your knockout weapons, ideally a shocking tranq loaded longneck or really high damage crossbow with arrows.

If you have access to the tek binoculars (Alpha Overseer unlock) you get three numbers always: wild, mutations, and then player levels.
And you can transfer the wild levels and mutations seperately. Like, I re-based my Rex line on a 120 that tamed to 54 HP. But that was after I already completed the map with those 20/20 mutated Rexes.

And now on Scorched, where I used them to rofflstomp alpha Manticore in like 5 minutes, I got a 145 male with a 50 point stamina. So I could do that again and have amazing meat runners.

I don't have the exact times, but it has been reported that the Surface Kings are still on the original ASE times. So you can go on a 10% day, 90% night before normal 50/50 nightfall and after normal sunrise so have none. This seems to be a change to let you actually tame a falso without beating your head into a wall.

This is actually how I've been using a Yi Ling to run the surface. Because he's basically a one-shot loss, the drops are buggy and don't show beacons if spawned before you got to the surface and the inventory lag is suicide slow.
