every wild has random stats, and technically when you put 2 of the same type of dino and different gender with different stats, if you breed them together the baby will either get nothing from the parents and have same stats or a mutation can happen and 1 or more stat changes to be higher than the parents. this is how players make boss strong worth dinos, they get a pair of dinos, roughly same level, breed and they hope that the mutation of a stat goes over, sometimes the baby will get the colour and sometimes the baby will have the same damage or higher damage than the parents, this is random, we can't control how or what happens with the baby and what the baby gains or loses from the parent we just keep trying and improve the stats, from wild to best the only way to get decent stats is to tame a pretty high lv wild pair and breed and raise and hope the stat you want to be higher goes over and keep trying. shield for me works by holding the right mouse button. hope this helps

hitboxes in ark are a little complicated. technically they are spheres. there is one big capsule (two spheres with a tube between them) that makes up the main hitbox of the dino, then the actual bodyparts have their own capsules, but those are only used for some weapon/attack collision, and for walking on the dino

4k monitor? if you are playing the game at that, it is absolutely crippling your performance. an RTX 4060 is not very good and will struggle a little with the game at 1080p (a quarter of 4k)

setting the game to 1080p and enduring the blurriness, or setting up "integer scaling" in the nvidia software will probably give you 5-6x more performance. considering a 4060 will be further crippled by it's memory capacity/speed at 4k

gaming on a 4k monitor in general is shooting yourself in the foot repeatedly

Are Ichthyornis' just coded to be psycho? I have repeatedly set all of mine to passive, ignore whistles, no hunt. Yet anytime anything touches my base they all go full Hitchcock and fly around trying to kill everything. I finally had to weight them all down with stone to keep them from moving.

Either someone in your tribe (or yourself) is accidentally hitting a whistle key, or they're set to ignore whistle commands.

No Hunt mode makes them become aggressive if you whistle on any other dino for any reason, even if they are set to Passive or Ignore Whistles.

I'd just keep them locked in a small room or part of base not near anything and set them to Hunt. It seems like a common complaint about them is that they don't listen at all.

They should stay passive unless there's a small wild creature like a dodo, fish, lystro nearby

Then it'll try to go kill it and bring it back to you, which can be harvested for prime meat.

Yep, tames aren’t connecting properly to troughs at the moment. I found if you put 1 stack of meat in there inventory it somehow connects them. But may need to repeat each time you leave render

Is xiphactus in base game? The server I’m in doesn’t have the mod but one of them just killed me

beaver has a bit of weight reduction for wood and is good at gathering it

but it doesnt have a lot of capacity, and is slow on land

the benefit is it can swim pretty fast

the thing i need rn is some animal that can farm berries and a animal that can farm wood i got cyropods and argy

i prefer theriz because i can put all levels into weight and add harvest levels for better wood gathering
