Ragnarok is so big, that I favour the second option heavily

The problem is that a private server with friends is apparently in 355.7 (according to the admin) and I can't go there, it tells me that the server is not responding, when I use the link directly.

Did you try connecting more than once? If the server has mods you need to download, you’ll likely have to launch a few times for them to fully download, as the game will give up connecting you if it takes too long

If you’re in PVE, I would recommend building on or near an obelisk. If pvp, you’re gonna need to find a watering hole off the beaten trail

And learn early what rock golems look like as rocks, so you’re able to avoid them.

And desert cloth is your best friend. Contrary to common sense, ghillie works great for heat in ark too.

Oh and if I recall correctly, the building meta for pvp in SE is a little different, as metal structures are a death trap, cause of the heat

Yep, unless you just like ci for the crystal wyverns (which you can add via ini or mod), you can easily cross that map off.

Yeah, it's a decent size dlc so if you don't need it, just add them to fjordur. Most everything can be added or already spawns on there anyway, aside from noglins, reapers, summoners, astros (both), stryders, enforcers and a couple others.

Crystal wyverns are passive tames (aside from heirs, which aren't even that much better on unofficials anyway and not worth it IMHO), so you can just have those spawn anywhere on fjordur.

Even in a perfectly normal build, anti mesh can be a real problem. Once you start doing weird stuff to get blocks under the map, or clipping through each other, anti mesh can be a game ruiner.

The big risk being, if you fall under the map etc, your gear will not be retrievable

A lot of people do this kind of stuff, you just need to be aware and mindful of the risk

Opening the console commands, typing ghost, and sliding yourself under the map, is cheating. Wether you believe it’s justified or not.
In my perspective, I don’t like doing that. I’m not forcing it upon anyone else. Wether cheating matters or not depends entirely on the person doing it, their server and their intent.
But if at any moment, you can just press a few buttons and be completely immune to all damage, how can the game have any stakes or tension after that?
That’s why I personally don’t do it. The utility is provides isn’t worth the cost.
