Hello Survivors!

A few months ago we disabled our Voice Channels to allow the bot developer some time to rework the bot and add some new features. These changes are almost complete, so today we will be re-enabling the Voice Channels on an experimental basis for you all to try out!

🎙️ These voice channels are self-moderated, meaning you're responsible for ensuring the members within your channel are behaving. You can grant and deny access to specific users using slash commands. Before starting, check out #voice-instructions to learn more!

🪲 As mentioned previously, the bot is being re-enabled on an experimental basis, if you find any bugs please feel free to report them to @paper fulcrum .

New Features:
• Denied users are now automatically kicked from the channel when denied
• Channels are automatically deleted when the owner leaves (unless they /transfer ownership)
• Commands are now in /slash format rather than !prefix format
• ...and much more

Known Bugs (being worked on):
• As the channel owner, if you mute, unmute, deafen, or close your stream, the channel will close. Fixed

We've decided to overhaul the Server Ads and Recruitment channels to make it easier to post and find ads.

Changes

• The Server Ads and Recruitment channels are Forum Channels instead of Text Channels
• Instead of having (6) Server Ad channels and (3) Recruitment Channels, there's now just one of each.
• You can use tags to filter all posts for the game mode and platform you're looking for.
  • For example, if you're looking for a PvP Steam server, just select the ⚔️ pvp and steam/egs tags.

Other Notes

As you may have guessed, this means we will be archiving the old channels and removing the existing ads from the server's search history. We get that this isn't ideal, and we delayed this change for a while to avoid archiving ads until we were certain that we wouldn't need to do it again in the future, but at this point we expect this will be the last archiving pass unless some significant Discord change occurs that we couldn't have anticipated.

That said, we appreciate that you've all put a lot of effort into your ads and we wouldn't want you to have to rewrite them from scratch. For that reason, instead of deleting the current Server Ads and Recruitments channels, we're just going to disable the ability to send new messages in them and move them down to the bottom of the channel list for the time being. We'll keep them there until <t:1686192720:D> to give you all lots of time to copy over your old ads to the new channels.

Extra Life is close to our hearts at Studio Wildcard. We’ve long supported UF Shands Children’s Hospital, and it’s inspiring to see players unite to help sick kids through a shared love of gaming. Moments like this are a powerful reminder of what our community can achieve.

Over the years, the Studio Wildcard Extra Life team has raised over $1,000,000 for Extra Life (that's crazy wat!). That’s a milestone that wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Your generosity, passion, and heart are what make our “little” dino game what it is.

That said, we want to be upfront about one thing. Our mods are usually pretty relaxed when it comes to frustration (to a point). But this event exists to support kids who need our help, and we’re not going to let entitlement or hostility take away from that. During Extra Life, our moderators have been asked to be stricter than they would typically be when it comes to overly negative or toxic comments about the event.

So please, show up ready to have fun and celebrate what this extraordinary community can accomplish.

I wanna shout out one of our long-time mods, Otter, who’s helped keep this place running for years, and to wish her a happy birthday.

Otter is someone who pays attention to people. She notices when regulars in the community are having a rough day and remembers the little details. One of the things she’s known for (aside from creepy PFP's and never going to bed ) is keeping track of birthdays and spamming cheerfully reminding everyone to wish the person happy birthday, because she wants people to feel seen and valued on their day.

Links within code blocks can no longer be used in server ads. The automoderator bot we use now considers them equivalent to normal links.

Your server ads can still include steam://connect links, links within images, and discord invite codes (the part that comes after discord.gg/, not the full link).

Two years ago during the annual Extra Life Fundraiser, Wildcard unveiled a new creature that would be added to the game along with Genesis 2: the Noglin. Within a matter of minutes, a Redditor combined the Noglin with the popular "Pogchamp" meme to create "The Poglin". Since then, the Poglin has taken on many forms, including a 3D Art version made by the very talented artist ImEnFuego. Eventually Wildcard even joined in by adding the Poglin Mask Skin into the game!

Here in the ARK Discord we greatly appreciate community-led efforts such as the Poglin. As such, we've decided to hold a competition to see who can make the best Poglin Heart Emoji. The winning emoji will be added to the Discord for all to use.

This competition will start today (<t:1651867200:f>) and end on <t:1653076800:f>. At the end of the competition we'll announce the winner and add the emoji to the Discord!

Hello Survivors!

This will be the last time we tag <@&735186992618274816> because we have added some opt-in announcement roles that we will be using instead, allowing members of the discord to choose whether they get notified about announcements or not. These new roles can be found in the updated #role-assignment channel.

🔔 The first new opt-in announcement role is <@&992529417844826182>. 🔔
This role will be used for any announcements regarding ARK news in general. This would include things such as the Community Crunch, and updates about ARK 2 or the Animated Series etc.

📡 We have also added a <@&992520031411896422> role. 📡
This role will be used for any announcements concerning the official ARK servers. This would include things such as ARKpocalypse wipes, EVO events, and connection issues effecting only official servers etc.

And the <@&982430729021558824> role is staying permanently.
The fancy unicorn role that we launched for Pride Month will be staying permanently for anyone wishing to express their support of the LGBTQ+ community, be it as a member or an ally.
