I have no idea if this should go here..or in modding. But, will there be the in game ability to somewhat customize pets? As far as coloration goes? Or is it static?

I mean...I feel like there might be a selection dependent on what you adopt? If it's like a dog or cat, then maybe there will be different selections? I know I put it in #💡modding-suggestions but under a different context.

They've been there the whole time. We unfortunately do not have access to Mee6 to change permissions on that particular post so that new reactions can't be added, so we can't lock them out or remove them. We have asked the members who replied with that to remove the reactions, but some people are stubborn. It will, unfortunately, have to wait until someone in management wakes up so they can take care of the posts.

We are aware, however, and have let them know so they'll see it when they wake up.

suggestion: a symbol in the menu next to the names of your animals to show if theyve been fed and brushed, milked/sheared(or whatever) that day

there have been many times ive played harvest moon and accidentally brushed/milked/sheared/etc my animals twice it would be nice to just pull up the menu and see if ive done that or not

#

Ooh, it would be fun to be able to befriend wild animals, especially if the team isn't looking to add to the roster of pet types. I loved this feature in Harvest Moon: Magical Melody.

Another suggestion: being able to find recipes in other people's houses, like on the fridge! Give us reasons to interact with the environment and find surprises.

I can/will put this in modding as well if need be. Playing Stardew Valley mostly (only played 1 harvest moon game, and I know it was an issue there too); It'd be nice to know where people are on a map. It might ruin the whole experience though of having to search for them. I know in say, SDV, people have their schedules and such - but there are so many people and it's hard to remember, especially when they change. And, while a wiki or such can be used, I guess it's just nice to open a map and see that Theo is on the beach today, or Suki is in the forest. I have a SDV mod that does this and it's so incredibly helpful.

Sorry i dont know if this has been suggested, but i think freestyle cooking could be a cool idea. You could try and figure out some recipes on your own! I know that older Harvest Moon games had a similar concept, but they removed the feature

Suggestion copied from #🌈lgbtq "Those are great! I do love me the fan boards with all the flags for every character, I was thinking more if, the CI team wanted to do something for pride month, some new art drops with [some villagers] actually wearing and holding their [pride] flags would be 😍"

suggestion: pet furniture for inside your house or for around the farm, like pet beds, a doghouse, toys, feeding bowls (even if you dont have to worry about feeding them they might be a nice little touch), a little pen (i have heard tell of a bunny pet 🥰 ), maybe even some cat shelves for the walls of your house or a cat tree

cursive bridge

suggestion: being able to hug and pet your animals (pets or livestock) and being able to pick up your pets (if theyre small enough, like cats and bunnies) and hold them

Ooo. Suggestion that you can snuggle your child. I know lots of games mostly have you talk at the baby, but it'd be nice to be able to pick them up and maybe show them off like you could in older Harvest Moon games. That was fun.

i would love to be able to carry your baby around 🥺 in a little sling or something similar while you go and do your work :]

#

Suggestion: being able to build a relationship with your pet! If you don't feed or pet it in too long it won't like you anymore, if you make sure to interact with it a lot it might end up loving you and brings you little items or something. I think that could be super cute, I never liked how the pets in sdv were just decor. Understandable if that's too much work though!

Suggestion: a good/different storyline. Story goes with island progression. Not inheriting a farm from grampa/parent.

Suggestion: along with dynamic weather throughout the day, would be nice to have the temperature vary also. I just want an excuse to wear different types of clothing (and have it matter a little bit). And a sun hat.

#

I understand there are people who might not want this feature because that’s not how they want to play the game so maybe an option to turn off certain features to match the gameplay they want would be nice too.

cursive bridge
#

Suggestion if it’s not part of the game already:

Being able to choose if you want to take a romantic or platonic path with Romanceable characters! Sometimes you want to be able to get all the events with them and get to know them and be close without a romantic relationship, while sometimes you want all the fluffy romance depending on how you play a play through 🥰 it would be nice to have an event/cutscene/interaction which allows you to choose if you want to go down a platonic or romantic route!

A lot of games avoid this, but modders sometimes create modded characters that are able to have both routes and it’s so much nicer 🥰💕 It’s always rough when you can only unlock certain “hearts” and events in games only via becoming their boyfriend/girlfriend/partner.

Someone suggested it, but I definitely agree with the progression of endgame relationships and friendships. Even if it's just a handful randomized events where they ask you to hang out or something.

I agree with the suggestion for extra events after getting married. I loved the ones in Trio of Towns (like the one where your spouse meets your family)

cursive bridge
#

It would be a huge ask but it would be wonderful if your kids could interact or show awareness of their family, too, like aunts or uncles or grandparents. Or have some family events. It just makes the game feel more “alive” after the basic “got married” box is checked

buoyant lion
#

Family events!! Yes!!

pastel kestrel
# waxen glade Suggestion: a good/different storyline. Story goes with island progression. Not...

I would like to second this. This is way overdone and cliche, and something fresh would be super welcome. If the game is about cleaning up the ocean and stuff, perhaps that's the reason for the character having relocated there. Perhaps the farm is something owned by some university or conservation company or something. It'd totally make sense that living on an island, you're cut off from main land so it makes more sense to farm. Just not the overdone inheritance.

#

suggestion: maybe a larger framed (broader shoulders, slightly more muscular) nonbinary character? I know from general aesthetic dippa looks femme coded due to their smaller frame also being used for the women in the game. Often nonbinary people without that same physical build don't get as much representation in media. It would be nice to have that kind of representation in the game 💜

Storyline with No Lineage, yesssssss

I third that with my own little spin. Why not just say that you're pursuing a career in something that you love and exploring a brand new town? That happens way more in real life.

I've met lots of people with a story like that. I've never met a grandpa with an old farm in the middle of nowhere.

Suggestion 1. Romanceables married to another NPC post-character marriage. I'd love to see NPCs you don't end up with having their own lives and growing their relationships with other town NPCs or from another island (after 1.0). Maybe they even move away to that said island? 😜

Tried to search but I haven't seen this one yet. If someone has suggested it then +1 please 🥰

So far they already seem to have a lot of ideas already planned out!
I’m amazed since there’s been ideas I thought about while playing any other farming simulation game.

The only suggestion I have for right now for the question I asked and happily got exciting news about: Children! I’m sure the developers thought about it, but for children have them look like the person you married or maybe a mixture of your character and the npc! 💕
Like Harvest Moon Animal Parade, and for those who may wanna adopt, have another option of maybe surrogate in a way? Where they can have options to customize a child even if they cannot have one!

Sorry for a long one, I just wanted to say my compliments to these ideas and the game idea by itself!

This is going to be such a stretch:
What about as side jobs or quests? Instead of gather certain materials or fighting certain monsters, there can be a cool feature to work at an establishment?
Maybe working at stores that you can go into and helping npcs with their jobs or so?

sharp kiln
#

This might be a silly question, but

Can we go shirtless during hot weather?

If it's summer on a tropical island and I'm spending all day chopping down trees, tilling soil, and planting crops alone in the hottest days of the year on a tropical island, I'd feel a lot more comfortable. Those small little details allow me to really feel the immersion of the climate when seeing sweat bubbles.

pastel kestrel
#

Something more aesthetic or such, perhaps. But:

In the video shown on the KS'er page, while in the ocean, the character more or less hops along the bottom of the ocean. Perhaps it's just an early development thing, and maybe already being worked on/tweaked - but it'd be nice if the diving had an actual diving/swimming animation - and then only the kind of standing one while motionless. It's super super weird to see someone diving by hopping around the ocean bottom.

Restaurants.
Being able to maybe work at a restaurant and just do simple tasks like giving customers food from the counter and being a waitress as a mini game? I saw an old childhood game (Hello kitty for DSI) do it where you can travel around and play mini games.

I also saw this game that was like harvest moon but different where you can sell flowers and plants at your house allow you to do things outside of it.

Just ways to interact with NPCS and make it feel alive would probably be seeing other npcs do these things as well or have them have their own arcs in the game?

End game-ish Suggestion: there comes a point when the player has a silly amount of money so it would be nice if there’s something else we can invest our money on. Maybe invest in tourism, maybe we can have a fair when enough tourists come? Upgrade the town? Adoption money? Alimony? Town party? Ecological investment for fruit hybridization?

I have a quick question: has being able to toggle on and off minigames (like with the fishing minigame in stardew valley) been suggested. Because sometimes I don’t have enough time/ability to do the minigame. (I have some nerve issues which is why I am asking. 🙃)

Suggestion: would also be nice if certain interactions/relationships would allow you to gain or level up a trait. Ie. If I become friends with the doc then maybe I become a herbalist or I can then grow medicinal herbs, or if I shadow a rancher then it’s easier to level up animal relationship, a florist allows me to make hybrid flowers.

Maybe as a gameplay dlc or future update, but adding the possibility of art and craft activities. Using some flowers to make paint, or even use them to create flower ornaments and maybe sell them, or gift to NPCs (maybe one of them having a preference towards an specific flower), pottering or even sewing.

This is super random, but could we have some type of stargazing activity? I'm thinking like in Animal Crossing: Wild World where you could make your own constellations that showed up in the night sky, or the Sims 3 where you could look through a telescope and discover stuff. 🌠

A character who might be a singer or a traditional dancer of some sort?

Taking a culture and exploring it with a character who embodies it is what I mean..Like how there’s K.K slider or idols for Splatoon?

I think it would be interesting seeing a prominent character who doesn’t have to sing but can dance to certain custom songs and more, or seeing a character passionate in being a dancer to where you can walk into them dancing and it plays a cutscene.

The character can have mini concerts outside of stores or a restaurant and can be talked about, maybe you can even get close to them.

Hm. Speaking of pets. Since we will be able to befriend merfolk and likely romance a merperson - are there marine animals like dolphins or whales or even sea turtles? I think it might be kind of cool to be able to befriend marine life to be your "pet" in a matter of speaking, even if it can't leave the ocean. Someone made a suggestion about pets that might bring you gifts. It'd be cool if the marine life you befriend brings you treasure! I'd die for an orca friendo!

# cursive bridge ***Restaurants.*** Being able to maybe work at a restaurant and just do simple t...

Piggybacking off of this suggestion! It was such a fantastic and fun way to earn quick money in the early games of Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility.

The suggestion is about implication: I could go to any established business and help out for an afternoon (part-time work), speeding up the day as well as making some money and increase relationship points with townsfolk/those that work there. There was also a cut-scene to depict what happened and a brief montage of different reactions. Either the same one or multiple scenarios would be awesome. More hours yield more money; perhaps you have to select your hours or your auto-work till the close of the store whenever you choose to go in.

+Allowing flower sales from home to perhaps encourage friendly NPCs (as in with more hearts/affection/friendship) to support each other.

cursive bridge
#

Oo!! Like rune factory 4 where you could sit in a stand and sell items to passing npcs willing to buy them!

I just remembered that feature, it was fun at times to sell like that, especially during events where there was more people outside! Like a mini job besides farming and fighting.

I don't know if the farm area is planned to have a beach, but what about eventually unlocking an underwater farming area, to grow underwater crops? Or keep underwater animals? Since we'll be able to get down there to hang out with the mer-people anyway.

Hi devs. ❤️ I read that you're open to several multiplayer game modes. Here's a fun idea:

** Multiplayer Visiting System - Guests**

The one aspect of Animal Crossing: New Horizons that I loved the most was the visit system. If a friend was struggling, I could come over and help them. Just like in real life, if a friend is struggling, it's always good to visit them. Some just like a helping hand, some just want a visit and no gifts, some want a gift if they've been struggling really hard and about to give up.

"Help" Toggle: You could give the host the choice of allowing guest equipped items to follow them (helping financially if the host asks for such) or leaving all equipped items behind (just visiting, host does not want to accept gifts). That would alleviate game breaking for some, and permit kindness from others. It might encourage more copies bought, too. 🙂

Hi guys! I hope everyone is having a good day. I was thinking about some things that I feel would be real neat if they were included in the game (unless they are already in the works lol)
-I was wondering if possible if dynamic weather could be a thing? Like for example when it rains there could be a chance of Typhoons or thunder storm ect- when it’s snowy there could be blizzards whatnot. This could also affect the crops you plant for set season (but not majorly. Only like how crows in stardew valley take like maybe one or two crops. Maybe with dynamic weather one or two crops could be damaged)
Another thing I would like to add, for dungeons. Displaying you weapons and also being able to buy/find or make your own weapons with different types of designs. Maybe adding dungeon bosses would also be cool.

cursive bridge
#

suggestion: a setting where you cant loose crops to things like animals or the weather

i always hated loosing crops in harvest moon, drove me crazy

#

Another suggestion based on above, although this is more of a wishful idea since rival romance is confirmed not to happen...

But if it diiiiid, it would actually be awesome if your own decisions/friendships affect who ends up with who in the town. This would make almost infinite playthroughs for me 😂

cursive bridge
#

For some reason I always wanted an enemy type relationship..Not only can you befriend and fall in love, but have one person dislike you not to where it gets carry off..

I just kinda shrug whenever you say or do the wrong thing and it only drags your relationship and heart status down, only making them revert. I like the idea of making someone dislike you to where it’s hard to even get close to them..Or maybe when you anger a friend or lover, they ignore you.

I liked how in rune factory 4, whenever you missed a date your partner gets angry at you and ignores you, giving you angry dialogue until they’re calm and fine half a day later.

That and I like how in My Time At Portia, one of your partners or just romantic interest can get jealous seeing you on a date or flirting with someone else. Made relationships more difficult to maintain or interesting instead of easy to just gift and walk away until the next day to repeat everything.

cursive bridge
#

This might be a silly suggestion, but my friends and I noticed how the characters when standing still always have their arms at an angle (so not against their body but slightly away from it in the air like a tiny t-pose) and it makes them look doll-like instead of alive. I’m guessing it might just be the early stage of what they’ll eventually look like/move, but just wanted to mention it might look slightly less like figure/doll if their arms don’t float in that angle 🙂

cursive bridge
# cursive bridge This might be a silly suggestion, but my friends and I noticed how the character...

Alpha usually means kind of a work in progress or just that it’s still being worked on, so I’m sure they’re going to work on it seeing as other trailers actually improved than the last.
They’re also working and revealing about 3 new characters which kinda shows in a way that things are not completely done and there’s a log/diary with a lot of the work they are currently working on or trying to do.

But to add on to it: There can be ideas for different animations for idle poses/standing poses with each character.

Depending on personalities, their animation can differ just like sims 4: Tough guy/more stand off ish personality might have their hands in their pockets and hunching over, personalities that may make someone seem shy or maybe always intimidated by someone might shiver or shake or fidget with something, and so on.

I have another suggestion 👉👈
Aside from the Dynamic weather system with different types of weather patterns like typhoons, thunder storms, blizzards etc-
How about also having an NPC in town where they are also a farmer and they could be your rival ? This would not only make farming even more fun but I don’t see farming games do this. Would make Corla island even more unique. Like at the end of each season who sold more crops, had more quality crops and hey maybe other NPCs could also rate our farm too. Suggestion: (piggybacking) a mid game item you can buy, find, or craft that protects crops in a radius from storms. If it was tied to Indonesian myth someway that'd be AWESOME. For the discerning / experienced CI player, you could plan your crop arrangement early with this item in mind, like scarecrows and junimo huts in SDV. I'm a bad player who ruins her own fun by looking up optimal layouts online, so if there was some way to make layouts more emergent or randomly generated, that would be really cool! Also an in game layout planner like Stardew Valley planner v2 would be a massive QoL addition since it takes a while to physically place everything down in game. Maybe once you draft a blueprint, you could toggle on a transparent overlay that shows you where to place everything to build your blueprint for real? Just thoughts, ty for all you do, devs!

Hi everyone! I'm super excited about this game and I can't believe the funding for it! WOW!

Anyway, suggestion/praise for the dev team: make sure to set aside reasonable salaries for the dev team during the development time, and make sure you pay yourselves like the hard working employees that you are! The game won't have the chance to be its best unless the dev team has their basic needs met, so that to me is a critical budget item!! Was searching for pet suggestions and +1 this.

Each type of pet has a certain help they occasionally do (could be consistent, or with a randomizer, eg your pet isn't feeling well today so they decide not to help).

Dogs could herd, cats and foxes could chase off pests (if pests are a thing), monkeys could... Help you harvest? 😂

Or to keep pets more equal, they could just occasionally "bring gifts" with better gifts as your relationship grows.

Hi! i wanted to suggest certain options to increase inclusivity in your game, besides the obvious, choosing your pronoun:
fisrtly, I want to suggest alternate character models to choose as a build that goes beyond a slight variant, from the research I did in this subject as part of some coursework, I found that people with body types that differ from the norm either being larger or thinner often dont feel represented in video games

#

secondly, I want to suggest that options such as scars, amputations and other disabilities also be considered, I've yet to see a game that allows you to choose to be a disabled character and also one that allows a character to have an amputation. This kinda hits home for me as my girlfriend enjoys video games but isn't able to create a character with only one breast and doesn't feel represented that much due to her fight with breast cancer. I think if these options were to be presented to her it'd make her and people like her feel incredibly happy at the representation.

I have seen the drawings of the characters and it looks like some of the islanders will have it. But I would like that as an option for the character customization so my girlfriend can finally make someone who has the same hair type she has.

Mini-game suggestion for kitchen/cooking

  1. Certain kitchen tools (wok, grill, mixer, etc) will determine your mini-game
  2. You can opt to cook without mini-game and get a regular dish
  3. Successful mini-game completion adds a small buff, but at the risk of "dubious food" when you fail

Suggestion: Would be cool to have free roaming versions of the basic pets wandering about the island. Not strays exactly, but town dog/cats/foxes/etc that live around town and have their own routines, and that everyone in helps look after. Maybe even with the option for the player to feed and pet them to make friends. It’d make CI feel more lively, and would let people interact with other basic pet types w/out starting a new game!

I think there can be more diversity added to the (future?) bachelors. Compared to the girls, the guys are typically tall, muscular/athletic men, all in around their 20s and maybe early 30s, and single. It would be nice if we have a silver fox type of a man, a bookworm or a geek, a man with a dad bod, a divorced man, and all the diversities that the girls options have. Can also have long hair guys and short hair girls. I also think I'd be nice to have mature, elegant lady and a tomboy as options as well.

I hope this message reached the writers: if the game portrayed LGBT characters, please please and please talk to LGBT people in real life, in Indonesia or in other countries. Listen to their concerns, their experience, their perspective, and so on. Too often writers think they know just from popular media when the portrayal can be stereotypical, one-dimensional, or completely incorrect that might offend people or just add more  misinformation.

The reason I'm saying this is that many people in Indonesia still have prejudice, misinformation, lack of awareness, and even hatred toward LGBT community, and some won't even listen to anything they say. And the developer team is based in Indonesia. However, depicting respectful, believable and non one dimensional LGBT characters in the medium people enjoy and have fun with might change their views on LGBT people without it sounding too preachy, if that makes sense. A single game may or may not change their view, but at the very least they can make their own decision, without being told what to think or feel by others.

They don't have to agree with LGBT people in the end, but understand them as fellow human beings with their own thoughts, feelings, and concerns in life just like non-LGBT people do. Sexual orientation and gender identity are not the whole defining aspect of a person; they can be LGBT and also be a loving dad, a career woman, a child of broken marriage, an aspiring  artist, a rich businessman, an elegant lady, a buff man, a rebellious teen, and so on.

torn lynx
#

I'm not sure if this will help you feel better about the situation, but technically all of the romanceables are LGBT+, they will marry you regardless of your gender, to include non-binary. There is also a non-binary townie but they're married, so not romanceable.

I went through the wiki, realized there won't be voice overs even for English (according to my understanding).

Maybe a bit of a long shot, but would be nice if we had generic sounds for each character that isn't language dependent, such as sounds of agreement, disgust, anger, etc. to give the audio a little more depth. Again, with toggle on/off for people who don't like hearing these 😅

#

@torn lynx That's what I call playersexual, actually. I meant it as in the depiction of the characters' personality, appearance, and whatnot. Like, if the characters have different lines or events if the players play as male, female, or nonbinary (not sure if the latter is an option). The portrayal of nb character is good, but I hope it's not one dimensional. It's less of anything to do with being able to romance them or not.

While asks pointed out we have a disabled NPC in Randy, I would love to see some disabled romance candidates! I'm physically disabled myself and its really rare to see disabled folk portrayed well in a romantic sense, even if these are things like invisible disabilities like diabetes or chronic pain.
It would also be really cool to have some character customization disability options, but I know that can be pretty tough to implement as it changes character sprites and possibly even dialogues. But who knows? May as well ask, right? ❤️

suggestion: pronoun options

  • the ability to input custom sets of pronouns
  • the ability to mix and match pronouns and honorifics (like if someone wanted use he/him and mx)
  • the ability to change pronouns/honorifics/etc midgame, if it's not already there
  • an "any pronouns" option that has he/she/they, as well as a few neopronoun sets that get used randomly when a pronoun is used (...though i do get this one cld be like. hard to do somehow)

#

I think (I hope) I know what @worldly talon is saying but I don't want to put words in their mouth, so I'll speak of similar tone and expand on this sentiment in my own experience as an LGBT individual. 🏳️‍🌈

Dialogue matters a lot. Like in SDV, Alex ||hesitates at dinner and says he didn't think he could feel this way about a guy|| and I think that reflects LGBTQI+ experience way harder than most straight folk may understand. You're in a small village in the middle of nowhere, rural areas can feel very unsafe, nearly everyone else has male/female relationships, and you'd be scared for a lot of reasons. Scared for your life, scared they'd hate you, scared of your own feelings in a remote location, scared of how others treat you. And when a character reflects that in their language, it hits you. It definitely hit me, more than anything else in the entire game. That moment felt real. I felt something that I didn't feel in all of the other romances.

In the consideration of younger players just learning about their sexual orientation, there's a lot of fear. So if a player was told "My friends told me I light up when I'm around you, and they're so happy you're in my life. And I am too." Hitting that reaffirmation of love from them, and from their environment, can be so, so, so hard. I worked heavily with The Trevor Project for suicidal LGBTQIA+ youth, and hearing that they feel safe in their environment is something they've never heard or felt before. Just one swap of a single dialogue changed my experience forever.

I would just reflect the sentiment, and hearing LGBTQI+ experiences to change even a few words can inspire so much love and cultural understanding.

brisk igloo
#

I really hope the devs consider the voices/input of people in communities; like LGBT voices having input and black people as well since some of the characters are black - as a member if both communities there are experiences outsiders can’t know what it’s like to have and it’s easy to skim over or portray it in a non-realistic manner. Or be too heavy-handed about it.

Little things and nuances matter a lot.

This is going to be hard to word for me and I would prefer to fully explain in private as to my reasons BUT can we put a special mention of wishes of peace, safety and blessings from us farmers for the people of Myanmar and places like this somehow in it? #

That’s an excellent suggestion, and I definitely think it could be implemented; however, I’m not sure if the developers would take a political stance on a real world issue ( especially because it may not make sense to people in later years when the game is released). It may also negatively affect how people view the game by proxy - when politics/ etc are involved.

(I’m talking about if things were implemented physically in the game)

More cosmetic: environment subtly changes within seasons. Spring flowers start as buds at the beginning of the month and start blooming day by day. Summer daylight is longer on the solstice. Autumn starts with leaves on trees as more and more leaves fall on the floor. Winter has darker days and snow on the floor slowly melts until a snowstorm comes to blanket everything in white again.

Furniture suggestion(s): Clutter! And some antiques etc? Options to make your home look as lived-in and fitting-in-the-world as possible, instead of "this is the player's house."

Stardew Valley did a great job of this by having lots of clutter and decor (plates, model ships, globes, potted plants, a glass cabinet). I'd love for the inside of our homes to have the potential to look as characteristic and detailed as an NPC's home. It was always a little frustrating being like, "why can't I have X detail or X chair from this guy's house in my own house?"

This is a suggestion made because I realize that a lot of thr furniture in games where you can have a house is ... exaggerated and simple when compared to NPC homes? Like you get the option of big round neon green chairs when the NPCs have simple elegant home-y nondescript dining chairs. But I want those NPC chairs! Hopefully this makes sense. You could definitely take lots of inspiration from Animal Crossing: New Horizons in this department.

One thing I’d ADORE to see is for villagers to have awareness of the relationship with your child and vice versa. Not meaning AT ALL supporting politics or even talking about the politics at all in it... I personally hate politics. That is a MESS in our country. Hahahaha. I also know nothing about the politics of anywhere but AU as I am Australian purebred myself but I am very conscious of disastrous world events as I work with refugees and charities (volunteer work... even have friends in doctors without borders like programs so we send doctors etc overseas too for little private unfunded aid programs too) and have travelled extensively. Some of my best friends here are from Myanmar. All they want is to live peacefully and farm. They do not care really who has the power so long as they could live the Bountiful Life so to speak.... haha. Again back to that which we cannot mention out loud here as it is too bad. HORRID ENOUGH that we had to view it elsewhere. We spent the last 24 hours in tears at the funerals. I also have an indonesian best friend here. I guess which was why I came to back this project. The indonesian gentleman is my disabled son's carer. The goal for the quest then simply to promote peaceful life for everyone. Not trying to kill each other all the time and I think this is what all countries should be trying to achieve within themselves. Sadly some are not as lucky as the rest of us. So... Once you have kids in the game, something I've always wanted is to be able to carry my kid around with me if I want. You could carry the baby on your back in a wrap when they're little, and then the kid could follow you around when older. It would be like your teaching your kiddo and spending time with them. Maybe the kid could even confer some sort of bonus or skill boost when they're around, like you're extra lucky when your kid is with you. (And maybe your partner would show up to take the kid for the day if you entered some place dangerous like the mines, haha.)

I also think a bonus like this would be cool for characters you're friends with. If there's a way to ask them to walk around with you for a while, they could confer a special skill bonus that makes sense with their personality, and perhaps have new dialogue that reflects that you're hanging out together.

Oh, what if there’s this cute elderly couple that travels from island to island to tell old stories handed down for generations to anyone who wants to hear. And maybe some stories about what happened recently on other islands. Like, they want the tradition of the stories to stay alive so they share it everywhere they go. Maybe they come with their family if they have any kids or extended family. Could be lots of family members or a small amount depending on the day they arrive or something. The grandkids could play with the island kids. It would be cute if you could learn each story so you can tell them to your own kid when you have one, and have your kid go to the elderly couple’s story time. And maybe if you talk to the couple enough to get to know them, they hand you a few children’s books as a gift when they hear you got a kid.

I know it's been mentioned that likely "rivals" wouldn't happen as you want to make it so people don't feel "locked out" of romancing someone else should you decide you want to divorce and date someone else.. but what if you had to trigger a cut scene with someone asking them to leave their spouse? Or a series of cut scenes? I'd just like it to not feel like I'm the only person in the town making progress on life? Or the only person in town who has a child after such and such a time. If you had to trigger cut scenes to advance town people romance, and say, have 2 people get married, and they have a kid.. maybe if you have them break up down the road the kid spends half their time at the farm with whatever parent you've now woo'd and married?

Just a thought on how to make it so we wouldn't feel locked out of all the dateables but also make it feel like the rest of the town is feeling the love as well.

I hope that if you romance Suki you can have additional children plus hers and make a blended family without it “counting” to a space for a child. I love being able to romance a divorcee that’s in good terms with their ex and being able to make a happy blended family would be wonderful.

Either way I'm still so excited for this game, but I would also like to suggest rival marriages. I know it could be a lot to write, but it adds so much more depth to the game after you get married and start a family. Without it, there will be roughly 20 single adults that never end up with anyone and that seems incredibly unrealistic. I know that it has been said that it could interfere with divorcing and remarrying, but rival marriages were always a main part of what made older harvest moon/story of seasons games re-playable for me in the first place. Maybe it could be added as an update someday down the road. At least I hope so!

brisk igloo

That would be a LOT of dialogue changes and updates to consider. The devs would have to account for nearly every possible combination of things happening. That’s a lot for a small and indie team.

#

I totally second the rival marriages! It is a good way to show how time progresses and how other people have a life too. It would give the game so much life and background! And I really really miss the rival marriages in the newer Story of Season's games....

(But I would totally understand if it isn't in the game and/or only comes like... with an update way down the line. The problem would be: you have to actually state who ends up with whom if your player don't marry them (making "canon" pairs). And then you as the player have the "oh no, I don't want character xyz be alone just because I marry their "mate". One could make it so that the player could play matchmaker but THEN you have a TON of work and it will seem that nothing will ever go on without the player... it's difficult no matter what you choose so I can totally understand if it's never it it. Also also with the way how the internet is... people will hold this game up to an ridiculous standard if the romance options are either seen as to "straight" or to "pandering to the LGBTQ+". So yeah... but one can dream XD)

XD yeah I totally agree, it's a bit sad/awkward if you are the only one in a community who get like... a family or any development at all while everybody else is pretty much "stuck" as they are.
Maybe a compromise for the makers could be that not everybody has a "canon" rival/partner but like a few selected ones? would be less work, not everybody has to be paired off, I don't have to feel bad about that one person who gets left alone and you still have some people of "our generation" that get married/paired off and get that feeling of time progression/things moving forward?

I want the developers to not add things just to appeal to audiences and people, I know it’s a point of getting feedbacks, but some people just add things not out of passion, but as a way to just point out either how diverse they are and sadly uses minorities or something else as a way for business. .I saw a movie about autism which was apparently badly handled and to be honest, seemed like it was done out of: “Well see! I added these people! I know a lot about people with ___”

Please, please, please add things like this and more out of passion! Your game looks amazing so far, and although there’s some things you can add and mechanics that make it better, I hope you do not feel pressured adding things and I know some mechanics will be difficult, but know there isn’t really a rush.

That and I love when developers add their own history or culture into their games or maybe they have a family member who has a story or might be neurodivergent (I’m sorry if I spelt that wrong :’) It’s really hard for me to spell the word) and add that in.

Just a daily reminder that I think most people would want to see things done for passion and it would be EXCITING if you add our ideas and more in the game- But do it out of passion and want instead of bowing down or adding a lot just because we say so. 💕

To hop on the rival thing again sigh I know. It could be cool if there was an extra character kinda like Kai (? At least how I remember it) in friends of mineral town, who comes only during [insert season]. During that season they can flirt with the half of a couple left behind. And if the player wants to marry them, they can woo them during the season they visit! They could be sexually fluid and charismatic to match up with whoever is left ✨

#

i would love a matchmaker option where you can set npcs up with each other to have them get married and have kids of their own

because you could choose not to pair anyone up and everyone but you remains single XD or you could get married and then match all the other singles up with each other

#

Why not have a tick box to turn rivalry on/off, with the default setting being "off"? that way people that want to date/divorce can do that without interference, but people that don't can set up other couples. And have it only as a menu option AFTER you reach a certain friendship level with ALL villagers, so it's something you actually have to find and deliberately turn on, like an end game thing except with romance

#

It seems like rivalry events are something people really want, but I understand why the developers want it to be more like Stardew in that you can marry the whole dang village, so I think an option that forces a player to DELIBERATELY make the choice would be a good way to satisfy both parties. Maybe less on/off checkbox but once you reach, say, six hearts with everyone you can find an item in the mail that later you can activate through some like, bringing it to an altar process, with a "Are you SURE you want to turn on romance rivalries? You can't reverse this change later!" pop up. that way you can just shove in a chest if you don't want to use it.

#

Like, imagine if you got a token based on the southeast asian culture to represent love in the mail after becoming friendly with EVERYONE, and you had to do a little quest to find out how to "offer" it to one of the island gods to help "single townsfolk find love." it's deliberate enough that anyone who did that would have done it SPECIFICALLY to unlock "rival" romances. And maybe USING it doesn't unlock an achievement, so completionists don't feel like they're OBLIGATED to use the item if they still want to just date/marry around

Since the NPCs will have seasonal outfits that will be somewhat color-themed to each character.... would it be possible to have a Name box that we can toggle on and off? Like a "Lily" box above Lily's head, for example?

For people who are colorblind or even just not terribly observant, that might further help distinguish between characters. And again, if we can toggle it on and off, that should keep it from disrupting the game aeathetic. I'm not sure if that's an annoying feature to add on or not, dev-wise, but it popped in my head.

Suggestion:

Based on the main and Variant Two artwork for the dragon pet having different colors -
Possibly allow the dragon's colors to be customized, perhaps based on preset color options.

Doesn't have to be overly elaborate - something like a couple color options each for the two areas highlighted in the art (IE main body + secondary color) would allow individual customization.

Let us pick the colors on our scaly snugglers! 🦎

Since a theme of the game cleaning corals, it would be a good idea for the game to include a coral quiz related to real life as a recurring optional mini-game or festival for players to be encouraged to learn more about real life corals!

I had a suggestion about cooking—I think it’d be cool to implement a sort of ‘food scrap’ feature, where the food scraps we could get after cooking a meal could be used as fertilizer for our farm. I think it would make me feel super connected to my farm and I could think about stuff like “oh, I’m low on bought fertilizer, maybe I’ll make eggs so I can get food scraps from the meal.” I just think it’d be another cool way to make the farming and eating feel real!

Request for first 10 days

Introduction without feeling like a tutorial: Welcome To The Neighborhood Visits / Food

I don't know if this is a North American thing, but typically in low-population areas if you're new to the neighborhood, the friendliest folk come to you in the first 10 days to introduce themselves in the morning to your front door, sometimes with baked goods -- especially shop keepers. This is a great way to introduce necessary elements in the game and make a brand new person feel at home -- without feeling like a tutorial.

It might be great for a free demo, 3-4 easy text box lines, and makes the player less confused or overwhelmed to learn the town. It's also a great way to make the player feel like they belong in this game.

I imagine the shy characters wouldn't do this, but the shop keepers or animal farms would want to tell you where they're located.

Add an encounter in which we have to pacify an angry giant. The giants in CI are force of nature and took inspirations from Javanese mythological creatures of punokawan. I feel that we could have an encounter with a giant that resembles either Semar or Petruk where they are enraged due to certain reasons and we must pacify with (having several options) to avert disaster the likes of volcanic eruption or tsunami. Later on we could befriend this particular giant and they would give us some benefits too!

Hi, so one thing I found frustrating with SDV is I never knew where any of the NPCs were on the map. One cool thing would be if you reach a certain relationship level, they could "share their location" which means on your map it has a little image of their face on their location to show where they are. Saves me from having to google their schedule to find them and chat 🪴 🌻

I have suggestion on the fighting style in mine.
What if there is martial arts too like pencak silat (?)

So we have other variations in fighting, apart from swinging the sword to attack.
We can practice too.

The hot topic discussed in this game are diversity, so it will be interesting if it can be implemented.

I know it's tough, but it's just my suggestion.
Hopefully there is martial art.
Because I believe the CI team can do it :)

Wanted to put in a few suggestions and reiterate a few I've been seeing.

Voice Acting or at the very least sounds for the characters. Unique ones for dateables and generic tones for regular NPCs.

Ability to play with children/pets (harvest moon a wonderful life a good example)

Intimate PLATONIC relationships with the dateables so we can progress the relationship without having to date.

Dateables advancing their relationships with each other, at least after the player marries.

More children in the neighborhood for your own children to befriend.

Group Relationship events that are unlocked after reaching certain levels of friendship with the members of that group.

Crafting for weapons.

Ability to unlock some kind of mp3 player or something and collecting music so you can listen to the songs you want to anywhere.

Diversity is great so far, this is just nitpicking or icing on the cake, but more characters with disabilities and more lgbtq representation would take the grade from an A to an A+

The game is already so amazing. These suggestions are mainly to take it from amazing to (imo) perfection.

Keep up the great work!

I mentioned this in general chat, but it would be nice to be able to set a birthdate and have villagers visit you/send you mail, or if you’re close enough, trigger an event with anyone with (x) amount of relationship points showing up.

This gets trickier with an early birthday and you’d have to wait a second time if it’s “too early” but that could also be worked into an event if conditions were met (“hey so your birthday was a while back, let’s make up for not celebrating before”)

A lot of people want the kids more integrated (✌️ and I would too!) but my biggest gripe with almost every farming/dating sim is that once you marry your spouse they mostly just sit around your farm like some living trophy. 😍  I'd love it if the spouse could do chores around the farm (randomly or have a setting to make them do something specific) or at least not quit their regular job (if they had one)!
I just don't like them standing around... they look like their being kept at home, or like they lost all their interests and just wander around the farm staring off into the blue.... plus it could be a perk to actually getting married that they do some helpful things like water the crops🥀 🌹  or bring home an income 💵  (if they keep their old job).
I'd like it if there was a choice to do this with the kids, too, as everyone that I know who lived on a farm has told me that everyone pitches in with chores to make sure the farm is well run, but I'm most interested in the spouses not losing their interests/fun.

Agreeing with what bonbon said, I would love if they kept their regular lives a bit? Like if they had a job they worked monday-friday when single, maybe they could work like monday-wednesday still? I don't want to take them away from their life..

If there is anyone who likes plants, they could help water crops some mornings, fishing characters could randomly fish for us etc?

I think it would be great for some of the dateables to slowly get married after the player gets married and have some kids of their own to grow up with your child. Maybe the player could even run into some of the dateables dates with each other.
I’m not sure if this is already happening because I just found out about Coral Island. I always thought cooking contests and harvest/animal festivals added a fun challenge to farming games.

an add on suggestion for voice acting, you can do it rune factory style where the character will say the first bit of their dialogue or a greeting when you talk to them, but it doesn't have to be the entire script, in order to save time/budget on the expansive character list, while at the same time giving players enough of an impression

To add on, I'm sure plenty of people in the existing community would be interested in voice acting if that route was taken, and if not, there's always the possibility for a mod down the road so no pressure.

This might be a weird thing to say in this feed but I hope the developers only take on as many characters as their writers can handle. I want as many different and interesting characters like the suggestions above but I've also seen the cost of this. The game I'm thinking of in particular is My Time at Portia where there is a host of interesting characters that haven't been fleshed out because there are just too many. After reading the character bios for this game I hope even the townies get a lot of spotlight. Sidenote I also would love some voice acting! I also hope that farm animals could come in a couple color variations.

This is a small suggestion but if we are able to order food at the tavern/taco truck or even make dinner/breakfast for our family. I think it is great to be able to see the food that you are eating. yes, I would especially love to physically be able to have meals/meal times with family! It may be just a wish in the end but I think maybe if we cook something at home at a certain time, maybe we could trigger a mini 'event'/cutscene that says something like "would you like to have dinner with your family?" after we cook something too, so we're actually having a meal with them instead of just giving them a food item. maybe the scene could give our character an extra mini boost too!

Wow, lots of requests for voice acting. I have feedback for the developers. I know you're a small team of really hard workers.

Voice acting isn't just a double-edged sword but a dangerous one. Please, please, if you don't feel comfortable doing voice acting, then don't do voice acting. If you do feel you're in a great place to do voice acting, do voice acting... if you can pull off a professional voice actor studio, professional voice actors, and able to find fluent speakers of every language and have some powerful voice actors that have years of experience, go for it. It's crazy, crazy expensive.

There's so, so, so many games that have severely messed up a game with voice acting. The performance reflected poorly on excellent writing which damaged the excellent scripts that came from them. Review site gaming scores went down because of them. In remakes of beloved games like Secret of Mana, voice acting had often made the experience much worse and even detached. People expected the voices to be older, or younger, or different. It's what they pictured in their head. If the voice is on as a default, and the voice doesn't match the voice that the player is expecting, it will damage scores on both websites and Steam. If one person right now is expecting Rafael as a butch, deep-voiced man with a heart of gold, and another is expecting a higher pitched voice unsure of himself but great at his job, one person will be disappointed -- and I don't want anybody disappointed.

The devs are doing a superb job. As a former video game publication editor for two sites, I've seen voice acting hurt games very badly, and I hope this feedback helps to offer a different perspective.

earnest pulsar
#

Bad voice acting can just about wreck a game--but even when it's done well, it's limiting. There's the aforementioned likelihood that many players won't think the voices "match" (and also the inability to alter any dialog once it's been recorded); but also, given the high costs involved and the large number of characters in the game, you'd almost certainly need to have much more limited dialog than if it's all just written, which makes for less interesting and less well-developed characters (who at least for me are the heart and soul of games like this). So I'm also going to respectfully disagree with those who are calling for voice acting.

wicked meadow

#

I agree that voice acting can be a double edged sword, cause I do believe it adds to the experience of a game and the ability to "connect" with the characters but is not always necessary. Sometimes I prefer it to be off, or I prefer it in a language besides English (like Genshin Impact where I can't stand the English voices).

One suggestion I'd like to make for voice acting rather than full voicing would be just to have character sounds - like laughter, "hmm," noises of agreement, approval, disgust, etc. This would be a much smaller and less costly undertaking, since it would not require recording in multiple languages, and would be more of an addition to how people imagine the voices to sound without fully "replacing" or disagreeing with their existing mental idea.

More for the discord: update the FAQ with common post-campaign questions. Seems most of the questions being asked aren't there so might help if we add? Most common questions I see:

  1. I didn't get to back the campaign, can I still pledge?

  3. Where will announcements for backers and non-backers be made?

Of course people who don't read will still ask but at least it might answer a few others 🤣

# sharp kiln Wow, lots of requests for voice acting. I have feedback for the developers. I...

yes!! jumping off of this:

after release, if the sales and pre-order sales permit, u could think about enlisting voice actors for these short character sounds etc. (it's clear why a lot of dating sims use this method instead. you can apply multiple instances across a character's dialogue without a problem. )

however, my big suggestion is: even a short line in English, like "that's right!" or "thank you." could be included in the English version and omitted in the other language versions, and english phrases could potentially be delivered by the same voice actor in another language if they're confident about delivering it. (ie it's not that hard to say "de nada!" convincingly even if your only language is english). maaaybe that obviously wouldn't go for all languages and instances, but it's worth a try?

I just keep recalling how the great phil collins tried his best to record the Tarzan OST in five languages and did a pretty great job. and that was singing! hopefully the phonetics for these two to three word phrases wouldn't be hard to voice act in several languages, even if it's limited. though maybe there'd be problems with making the languages uniform across everybody... eh. long term thought! don't worry about it now. just bringing it to consideration. thank you, devs!

This thought was actually inspired by a dev question a long while ago.

Camera Idea
While back, a dev said that they were just doing a top-down graphics for optimization which is what I love, but a while ago asked and wondered in what ways would camera angles be useful/helpful.

What if it was just like "touring" your farm? A maaaassive zoom out to screenshot your whole farm from high-level (removing 300 chickens and all animals of course to reduce poly cap and resource cap), that's something lots of folks love doing in Stardew Valley: comparing farm layouts.

I don't know how optimized the game is for top-down, but maybe there's cool ways the camera could sliiiightly move or change positions or sway that gave it a 3D look without it breaking the design/immersion or requiring any rework of the assets.

Just a silly suggestion: One big pet peeve of mine on farming sims is the watering can mechanic. The whole stop, aim, water, repeat that nobody does in real life. It would be awesome if they implemented some "walking-and-watering" mechanic, even if still waters one tile at a time it looks so much smoother. Like, hold the watering can button and slowly walk and water the soil, even an arm swing motion to water maybe 2 tiles at a time. Either way the game looks AMAZING and I can't wait for it to be released. ChickenFace

I accidentally forgot about the flower dance in Stardew Valley, and haven’t played it since I’m stuck being forced to pick an NPC dance partner. To me it would also make sense if the bachelors/bachelorettes danced on their own as well, or maybe with friends depending on personality.

Piggybacking on this idea,
For events that do feature some kind of cutscene, like a dance with a partner, it would be nice to be able to have the option to talk to other characters at the dance post cutscene but still in the event before actually leaving the event, so you still get some relevant dialogue from the people you didn't pick. all i want and feel that would bring this game to the next level is character growth and multiple character emotions and events that change personality's. game character writing is so stale and one dimensional the game would greatly benefit with noticeable character growth and change in the npc's and romancable options as well.

#

if i could meet a character on day one then on year two the same person was a completely different personality that would be a huge leap in game writing history and make the world so much more engrossing and addictive

#

Personally I think it would be better instead of voice acting having unique music themes for romancable characters, since they can be subtle differences. Its cheaper than voice acting. There is no issue with the language differences. Its a common thing in dating sims so you still have a unique feel when talking to a character, but without the need to hire at least 20 actors per language

For VA, I would suggest at most generic phrases for most dialogue and fully voiced important cutscenes (or at least important parts of cutscenes), but i do think they shouldn't do it unless they can provide at least a handful of popular languages, and it doesn't come at the cost of expansive written dialogue. I'm sure mods can add full VA if the community really wanted to. Different music themes (even if just a small remix of the same theme for each character) or a different "typing" sound for each character would be great- or all of these together!

I feel the same way about rival marriage- it would be nice but only if it doesn't come at the cost of in depth dialogue outside of that, which is why I believe the devs have said they don't want to do it, and I'm totally cool with that.

Could there be a hidden value relationship with the Goddess, where each heart with her increases your total luck over the years by a noticeable amount based on stuff you do that she finds favorable? Even better if they then have kids because that gives the game even more life

Some of my suggestions
-dynamic weather (thunder storms, blizzards, heavy rain, high winds, heat waves) I feel like perhaps also slightly having one or two crops being damaged would also be cool.

-character models reaction to different types of weather. Like winter have NPCs or your character shiver, show as if they were hot etc-

  • would be awesome to have intricate mines level designs. And monster are just blobs or etc- like monster would actually have creepy or cool designs.

-different types of weapons with cool designs. (If possible crafting our own weapons) if we can’t craft it would be an awesome thing to have the blacksmith not only repair our tools/swords but also we can buy armor/weapons from them. Or maybe having a black market where we get rare items or weapons.

-to have a clothing store (similar to how in animal crossing and how they have a clothing store and salon) it would be cool if everyday they had different types of clothing etc- as well as a furniture store too.

  • I don’t know if this is possible but having another farmer rival would be so unique and interesting to have in these sort of games I don’t see it implemented in farming games and I feel like they should! Like how in Pokémon you have your rival. It can make the game even more fun.

  • simple but not so crazy idea but having vending machines where you can buy drinks for energy. And then being able to recycle too.

  • having our community center projects make the islander happy and like you more or have the opposite reaction if you do something that wouldn’t help the community etc-

  • I’ll like to have a large selection of crops as well as things we can do with the crops to be able to cook etc- similar with the fishing and big catching.

  • lastly can we mine and or find artifacts ?

wanton fulcrum
#

Not sure If this was suggested or already planned but for Relationships

  • have date nights kind of like side quests or such to increase/decrease heart affiliations depend on how it goes.

-you and or npc can plan things.

  • possible to have them break up with you if neglected too much or so.

Ive noticed in games like stardew u get married n thats about it besides a few repeated dialog's n such, they are just kinda there. I hope there will be things you can do with them in game.

I don't know if it's in the game but if there's kids once you get married, I'd appreciate it if it was optional. Suggestion: (mostly for the mods) Implement a Discord bot to help collect suggestions in this channel. There are several bots which will pick up on key words/use commands to post specific comments to its own channel, which you can then prevent people from talking in so it would just consist of suggestions. Google "Feedback bot" for some ideas. Hopefully this would reduce your workload with having to constantly discourage people from discussing other people's suggestions in this channel.
On a related note, if you could customize the bot to flag posts that include words like "rival" or "rival marriage" and point the user to the FAQ, that might also help, as I've seen people ask about rival marriages at least three times every day.

Suggestion: for Macy, how she sells her pictures to Betty inc. do you think there would be a way to make it so you can meet her and you can find her taking photos and she can teach you how to take photos around the island. so there is like a task to take a picture of certain animals or a plant or something like that, maybe also you can make it so you can take pictures with filters and you can take pictures and have them set up in your house.

suggestion:

  • i'd hope that the coral restoration is not just another collectible. it's the main part of the game, but i hope that's more beautifully implemented! anyways, what are the collectibles? i heard artifacts, fish and bugs, but i'd sure to welcome more!

  • genetic variations and mendel applications to animals and plants would be cool!

  • lore related, will there be more antagonists than just the oil company?

  • character related, younger/kids characters, like vincent and jas from sdv

  • culture related, some characters have their catchphrases in their mother tongue

  • cooking related, i've played sdv and i realized that cooking isn't really profitable in the game. a balanced cooking-profit system would be nice.

  • how can we customize the town? i heard there's community projects, but furnitures outside the house would be cool.

i'll add later when i thought more :)

Suggestion:
-Having gameplay mechanics that discourage mono cultures, or only growing the proft maximizing crop:
-ie. having dynamic sell prices of crops, or having a decrease to crop yields or potential for disease for large mono culture plots.
This gives players an incentive to grow a variety of crops and not have crops that would be underutilized (such as red cabbage, bok choy, eggplants etc. in stardew valley)

marsh lance
#

(Also crop rotation is a thing. Planting one type of crop and one only will lead to the nutrients in the soil all being used up. Planting different types will revitalise it.)

sharp kiln
#

Personally I don't like the idea of needing to remember where all my plants were that year and would be frustrating, but I like the core concept and see where you're going with it. The core idea is cool and I like the concept of discouraging mono-cultures.

What if there were just "Daily Bonus: Eggplant Worth 3x" that certain crops sell for 2x-3x more on a couple days in the last 2-3 weeks of a season, selected at random?

If it's only a bonus (and never a decrease), there's still reward for buying a rare/expensive seed without the aggravation of losing profit and getting stressed out. And if it's only for 2-3 days, you can't plant that specific crop in that timeframe and encourages people to plant all the items as often and as early as you can.

Not sure how often relatives come up but I have a small suggestion about our player's relation to their farm and (maybe) their parents/grandparents/other relatives (if they will even be in the game). Rather than just simple letters or minimal interaction, I think something nice would be a hint/tip system, where if your relatives were farmers before, you can ask them for help when you're struggling. Maybe you send them a text or letter and they can reply with something sweet and some tips, maybe even a small gift of fertilizer/animal feed/etc. as a surprise.

I just think it'd be really nice to have someone there to help you specifically! (And it's how I'm learning to garden myself: from my boyfriend, and him from his parents.) Even if relatives aren't able to do that, maybe a townie already on the island could fill this role! (Also, maybe other townies/relatives could fill a role to help with mining/combat, ranching, etc.)

Suggestion: Feedback:

I'm afraid that my next suggestion/request might be kind of rude. I'm afraid that my comment will count as inappropriate. I know that character design and the choices to go through is a hard process, this is more like a feedback, I guess.

What?: I suggest that Zarah wears her hijab more tidily, and hide her bangs.

Definition: There's a slang term in Indonesia called "jipon". It's a growing trend of showing bangs while wearing a hijab, which is the "wrong" way to wear a hijab. Because the point of a hijab, is to cover the hair.

Why?: Currently the muslim representation isn't written very neatly in the western media, or should I say, misrepresented. For example, in Elite, the muslim girl is written that her hijab is an obstacle to her and she'll take it of for a random boy of her interest. And there's many more. It's hard to find a representation of a good, devout muslim.

As a studio from Yogyakarta, I was hoping that you can bring a better representation by tidying her hijab, instead of religion-role-breaking misrepresentation that muslims are getting lately. If the game's proud of the diversity of the representation, why not make and represent someone devout? It will be beautiful if the writers made Zarah love her hijab, and not just diversity sake. Other solutions include, adding another woman character with a tidy hijab.

Before Someone Flames On Me: I know that it is wrong to assume a woman solely based on her hijab. And it's also not a good thing to tell a random woman how to wear her hijab, but Zarah is just a virtual character, and we can change that. My point is that I think that devout muslims are better representated without a jipon.

Again, with a restatement, I'm really sorry if this sounds rude or causes some discomfort to y'all.

With love I propose,
#UnjiponizeZarah

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

i dunbo but i kinda would like a phone or something where you could "text" the romanceables and NPCs so we can get information about them such as favourite gifts and hates (like the Stardew Valley hidden notes where they tell you about a certain npc/romanceable, secret treasures from unknown people who leave them behind), and we can also get like a wiki of sorts, like the animals, "monsters" trash, merfolk, crops, how much "friendly-ness" with a certain NPC, and etc, adding the the phone maybe we could also be shown the daily bonus for a certain crop ( saw this on another suggestion) , a map, and maybe notes so when you leave the game and come back after like a day, you could remember what you wanted to do.

and also i would love if we could get multiple responses from the NPCs when they receive a gift, such as "i love this!" "how did you know this was my favorite" or "i hate this" "well i didn't expect you to give me such an amazing gift i loove it soo much" (hint hint scott), and maybe if you gift them multiple gifts a day they could get "uncomfortable" or something of the sort like " uhm t-that's quite a few gifts" or something!

another suggestion would maybe be multiple choice dialogue with an NPC that influences the future of the game such as having two choices to have a festival or parade and it could majorly increase or minimally increase your "friendly-ness" with a group of NPCs

i know all of this are major stretches and would probably be impossible but i just wanted to share my opinion

I think it would be neat if the person you marry also has an effect on your kids, not just you. I don't know if that's currently planned or not, but someone was thinking it wasn't and to me, it would make more sense if they did since they are also the child's parent and it would give more of a consequence to how the child turns out with how you influence the child's personality conflicts or works with how your spouse does it.

Thank you for your feedback! To clarify, Zarah is indeed wearing a headscarf but not a hijab, the head covering for Muslims. Zarah is also not a representation of any religion.

There are several reasons why people choose to wear a headscarf and one of them is head protection against harsh weather. Her outfit consists of a headscarf that people of her hometown wear. Inspired by Grace Kelly, Eastern Europe, Southwest Asia and Middle Eastern, we incorporated a headscarf on Zarah’s outfit that serves to protect the head, ears, and neck against the harsh weather in her hometown and of course, there is a fashion aspect on it as well.

Suggestion: If romance characters will not end up being able to marry each other by any means, could they still develop in other ways and have a progressive story that leads to them being happy or settled? Late game, x character that dreamed of being a musician leaves on weekends now to perform or performs in town and you're invited to attended from time to time while earlier in the game, there were cut scenes and conversations leading up to this point as character development and growing friendship levels. This may be to fine of a detail, I'm not too sure

  • I don’t know what the mayor here will be like, but if he’s even half as incompetent as Lewis in SV, being able to overthrow him run for a mayor could be interesting (as more of an endgame content).
  • I think it was mentioned somewhere before, but choosing your farmer’s birthday at the start, so they’re not the only person on the island without one.
  • Using clay smartly, eg. by introducing pottery wheel & firing kiln to craft giftable/sellable pots and vases.

This is something I've noticed as well, but even in the kickstarter updates; especially in places like the Meet the Datables profiles.
I understand that the game is being made by a group for whom English is not their first language, so is there any plan for language "localization" to be done for the English version of the game?
I mean absolutely no disrespect to the team or any of the writers! The syntax is just clunky in some places and I don't know if that's something that's been/will be addressed.

Suggestion: optional nicknames for our save files

I think it’d be cool, when we created a new save file, if we were able to give a short sentence of what the save is about (for example, “before fire dungeon boss” or “co-op farm”). I know for me I’ll have a few saves with the same player and farm name, so being able to differentiate between those saves easily/at a glance would be really nice!

Suggestion: as some people may be getting multiple copies of this game for multiple platforms, might be nice to be able to transfer or sync saves between platforms if this is technically possible (depending on the policies of platform holders of course). Would be interesting to say be able to have a save that can be played between the PC version & the Switch version for instance.

Suggestion. If it hasn't been considered, you can have crops with specific and unique effects on the environment and other plants. Example: Some plants have root nodules that produces nitrate while other don't. So growing something like beans 3 tiles away from tomatoes will boost the growth of latter. It could be a nice extra layer of depth when you try to design your farm layout. Other factors you could have include crops that demand space in between (like SDV trees), those that better retain soil moisture (can skip 1 watering day), likes shade (growing adjacent to trees), etc.

NOTE: I hope this is not heavy handed so casual players do not scream internally and can choose to ignore this mechanic. Like maybe it only raises the probability of better yields and not punish casual players with dying crops. Or make it toggleable as a difficulty customization option

Suggestion: I would love a cooking minigame in similar fashion to games like Breath of The Wild and Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. Let us use our ingredients along with utensils freely in order to make various meals of various qualities!

For example: You can make pancakes with eggs, flour and butter. But if you use some better quality butter and eggs, or add some strawberries, honey, cream, chocolate or sugar, your pancakes will improve in quality!

I hate when games restrict your creativity when it comes to cooking, and it could be so much fun to discover recipes by messing around in the kitchen on your own!

paper dew
#

Following up on the cooking minigame idea: while being able to play around and build the recipes yourself is fun, it would be really helpful to have a journal that logs all the recipes you’ve discovered and what they create. Especially if you can then cook straight out of the recipe book.

For example, when you go into the kitchen, you can either manually select pan + flour + eggs + honey + cinnamon to make Cinnamon Roll Pancakes or (if you’ve already discovered that recipe) you can open up your journal, select the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes recipe, and it will select all the ingredients for you

I highly doubt it'll ever make it to the Nintendo 3DS because Coral Island is being built on Unreal Engine 4. The only Nintendo platform that UE4 supports is the Switch. I don't think the devs want to invest in rewriting the entire game from scratch to support a platform that has been discontinued by the platform holder. You'd also be better off spending a part of that $1k on a Switch (even on the Lite model would do) and then get this game on the Switch instead 😛

Suggestion for more ideas for Ecosystem restoration to add alongside clearing ocean trash

Controlling invasive species: Basically chopping down invasive plants and picking up invasive bugs and fishing invasive fishes. Oh there is this asshole invasive starfish species Acanthaster planci that eat coral. Maybe you can pick them up when diving
Picking up toxic trash: Like discarded leaking batteries
Chopping down wood debris outside the farmSmall wood pieces that are left over by deforesting timber companies can be fuel for forest fires (you can even use coastal floodings as an excuse to regenerate driftwood on the map). You can also reward players for relying more on driftwood rather than chopping down the forest
Relocating and fostering beehives They are fairly domesticated thus wild hives runs a higher risk of dying out without human intervention. Maybe finding wild hives and relocating them to your farm will indirectly lead to way more wild flowers blooming throughout the island.

I'm curious if we might have "cutscenes" with our kids in town. Since this was so lacking in SDV, I just made them doves and saved myself some space in the house. The closer I feel to them, and the more dialogue I have with them, the better the experience will be (and down the line in any upcoming patches). This is what they’ve said previously:

“While we understand a lot of people have asked for rival marriages, we decided not to go this route. We would prefer to focus more on marriage events and kids growing up. Rival marriages would also mean needing more than one save in order to date/marry all the available bachelor/ettes in the game, and boy, do we have a lot of them!”

I have a suggestion (that could fall into mods too I guess) Suggestion: events or something related to the moon. Maybe this doesn't need to be a full-blown festival, but honoring the moon cycle would be awesome, a full moon and a new moon event that triggers at a certain place (the best moon-viewing spot) or with a certain item or at a certain time. The moon has such a huge impact on the tides of the ocean that I hope it is a theme or has some emphasis in game. Honestly, even the full moon/new moon marks on an in-game calendar would be awesome! New moon nights could be darker than usual, and full moon nights really bright. 🌕🌛 🌑 (I looked through search for this idea and I only found references to Harvest Moon 🤪 😊 ) Thanks for all the hard work the devs are doing, and for all these cool suggestions from everyone- it's fun reading them!

Suggestion: ability to befriend crows

People are able to befriend crows in real life by gifting them shiny things, so I think it’d be super cool to do the same in CI! Maybe by actively engaging in a relationship with them, a few (1-2?) start to become your friends, and they encourage other crows to not damage your crops (not always successfully! For balance lol). And maybe your crow friends can give you small amounts of money or interesting items in return? And maybe if you have a scarecrow up you can’t befriend the crows at all, so it’s all about whether you want to engage in the relationship or not. Just, crow friends!

Keys to the House (Trusted Level)

One of the end-game items I love in SDV is being able to open up houses even when they're "closed."

Instead of just one key, I'd love to earn the trust of someone by doing X amount of tasks for them (instead of just heart points, to add some endgame content).

Example 1: I did 50 tasks for the shop. They trust me. I earn a key to the house. I can come in at 6am to order supplies instead of waiting until 9am.
Example 2: I did 50 tasks for Rafael. He trusts me. I earn a key to his house. He's cool with me coming over at any time.
Example 3: OR I get married to Rafael. I earn a key to his house by marriage. If we divorce, he takes the key back, and I lose all my trusted points.

covert thistle
#

Suggestion: Maybe this will already be implemented or is too difficult but I'd love to see more of a difference in NPCs after significant heart events! For example, in SDV how some marriage candidates have little arcs they go through, but not much changes after the fact. I'd love to see NPC's routines change after significant character development or maybe one or two open a new shop into endgame territory. It would be a really nice touch that at least for me would add a lot to the personality of the characters.

I dont know if it has been said but seeing as the devs took inspiration from SDV I really hope that time is either adjustable (similar to Don't Starve, where you can adjust the length of seasons or 7 days to die) or put into chose-able/adjustable segments (for example "Day - Night" similar to a few visual novels that i cant for the life of me remember the name of) or has some other buffers built into it so it doesnt seem like it took you 30mins to walk from one wall of your house to the other.
My biggest issue with SDV was always that you just. dont. have time. the clock stressed me out so badly. if you have a massive farm that you need to spend 5mins on: you lost half the day(i think the days are 12-13mins long?), the shops are closed and you wont have enough time to visit even 5 levels in the mine. SDV already had very much to do and it sounds like there is even MORE to do in Coral Island so I'd feel really bad if we didnt get time to do multiple things before nap-time comes up.
Then again there are many that favor a quick day-night cycle, some dont mind SDV's clock at all. But looking at my own experience and most of the negative/neutral reviews: some really had issues with it...
Also being able to have an actually usable night-life would be awesome - for all the night-owls out there who also felt weirded out that they were forced to sleep in SDV and that nothing was going on at all at night -except the night market?

I'm just excited that we're getting a museum and I really hope it'll be something more than just a collection of items sitting in little rows!

Dogs: May dig up randon valuable artifacts around the farm. More valuable artifacts will be dug up with higher friendship levels.

Suggestion: **Master Chest 💼 Consolidation 🧰 **

Instead of having 100 chests (SDV, Portia, Olive Town), can we have a consolidated "directory" chest?

My SDV house has 20+ fridges, which is insane, and 30 chests, also insane, and it takes up half my house. I can't decorate like I want because it's a house full of chests and fridges and signs next to them so I don't forget what's in them. There are many poor ports of Unreal Engine game and this game seems fantastic to be on a system like the Switch, but at the same time, it's the weakest out of all the supported platforms, thus would require more optimizations. # hardy prawn And what if, in the case we'd put too much of it, our crops would yield ''kelp-s...

Excessive use of fertilizers will result in a lot of nutrients leaching away and not being taken up by the crops. You can get stuff like aggressive weed growth or even oxygen-depriving algae in adjacent waters (since algae eats up phosphates found in fertilizers). High salts concentration from fert also reduce a crop's ability to take up water. You can translate this in game to mechanics like:

If excessive fertilizers are used:
Weeds spawn WAY more quickly
Fish-catching-probability in the farms' nearby waters are reduced
You need to water the over-fertilized crops twice a day for a few days

-ability to fight other npcs >.> maybe?

-vacations

-having different npcs on your island like the animal crossing franchise idk like an rng factor you might not have a certain npc but all romanceables are available

-easter eggs after putting a certain name like in many games

-being able to grow/shave facial hair, being able to dye hair at will (at salon) or even multicoloured hair

-buying clothing

-making clothing

-gifting clothing npcs would wear

-going through trash

-maybe even more diverse NPCs such as an autistic NPC, homeless, i dunno i'm just going off

-transportation devices

-fun bonuses for planting a certain type of plant,

-being able to make different foods not just the preset ones (probably through mods though .>.)

-choosing marriage location

-differing NPC personality depending on how you treat them,

-dancing

-submarines or deep diving

-~magic~

-working other jobs not just farming

-pranks

i dunno just a list of things i thought up while not being able to sleep

oh and also maybe different events that trigger when you reach a certain amount of hearts with a certain character

I really like adding more neuraltypical characters, would just ask as a neuraltypical to interview real life people and use their examples instead of stereotypes. Im personally tired of autists being shown only as cold, calculative, robotic which is the only thing Ive seen in popular media, which yes there are autists who are like that and theres nothing wrong, but theres a huge spectrum of us and stereotypes are just tiring.

suggestion (idk if someone had said it before) : If crafting is exist and we have item processing machine/storage box, I hope the maker doesn't occupy more than 1 tile, like in recent SoS:PoOT, bcs in that game one item processing machine or one storage box takes 4 tiles, which in my opinion is really limiting on how we decorate the farm layout

vacations
bruhh if you become really social (without marrying) and didnt have a work-free day in months: your best friends seek you out saying "we love and care for you and you need a vacation so we'll do anything to help so you'll have a day off"
programming that would be weird but an ace (who appreciates the love language of "acts of service") can dream...

honestly anything that respects your (romance and) love language preferences would be absolutely astonishing. so that you dont just get random gifts from people after a threshold but maybe hugs? personalized kind words? evenings at library parties where you actually get invited to by your friends? a personalized mushroom cave?

I feel like a lot of those are already gonna be implemented, though...

• Bug catching is confirmed.
•The museum is confirmed.
• I'm certain things such as home customization will be implemented due to it being such a solid concept as it stands.
• Co-op marriage is confirmed.
• Same-day profits will most likely be a thing. Games like this usually have a way to make profits, be it they arrive later during the day or early the next.
• I imagine Pufferfish Corp will function similar to Joja.
• Character relationship events will most likely be a thing, as most any simulation game involving other people have this.
• Probably the biggest thing is that underwater diving has been a thing from the very beginning.

Don't get me wrong, that's a lot of stuff to think about. I would think the devs have already done tons of research in seeing what could/could not work with the overall aesthetic of the game. (Plus, if something works, it's more likely to get used again by others - SDV is a huge example/source of inspiration for this, I dare say). Don't take this as me putting anything down, but maybe such a large list could have been narrowed a bit. Nothing to feel bad about! ❤️

#

A plus, however, is the idea of having a sort of questline similar to that of Mister Qi or Birdie from SDV. Something that perhaps would take some more critical thinking and deeper knowledge of the game/characters. (Birdie is a prime example of the previous sentence - ||doing this in case of spoilers. You get handed an object which you give to a particular person, they give you something to give to someone else, et cetera...but it is never explicitly stated who.||)

Maybe BackerKit doesn't say as much of what the game will have as KickStarter, I'm not sure. And if that's the case, can't really blame you for the ideas. HeartsRed

idk if i overlooked it as a feature but since seasonal outfits will be a thing i would love

  • to change your own clothes aswell and a feature to set a preset for each season (in which your character automatically changes into at day 1 of each season)
  • maybe, and i know this is probs a lot to suggest, if your spouse is female and pregnant that their character portrait will change into having a tummy and wearing pregnancy clothes?

My main suggestion is a plethora of dialogue for each character, to the point where you’d have to harass them to get repeat dialogue. I grew bored with the characters in Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon real fast, to the point where I didn’t think farming games were for me. I get a strong sense of far more character development in Coral Island, and I really want it to blow us out of the water. This could be something that is gradually expanded upon with updates even after official release. The characters are what mainly sold me on this game and I want them to drown me in their personalities and personal lives. I’m extremely confident that this is likely already the case to a large extent, but I think the characters could potentially keep me hooked on Coral Island endlessly.

^^ Especially if there's a strong post-marriage to go with it. I've noticed from previous farming sims that a good chunk of the fandom will get married and then like... stop playing?? For some reason??? If you look at the FoMT remake for example, barely anyone makes it to year 3. Or, in Stardew's case, only like, 6% make it to two kids if you go by the Steam achievements.

Seeing as in CI, your kids are meant to grow to teenager-hood, if you've got the prominent character stories to couple with the gameplay to keep people engaged in interacting with the npcs for that long, it'd probably set a standard that hasn't been seen since A Wonderful Life.

I'm one of those who stopped playing fomt after marrying... The dialogue was so bland and lacking and there was just nothing to do or look forward to afterward. The larger the dialogue pool, the better, and the more you can do with people other than your spouse, the better. I want to have incentive to continue to interact with characters after marrying, and plenty of goals to achieve after getting far enough to have married.

If I may I would like to add some constructive criticism about the noses on the 3D models.

Character Sculpt Artists tend to favor noses that have a strong bridge and pointy tip of the nose because it strengthens the profile of the character and it fits the beauty standard that we have today.

I am not saying that a strong bridge and pointy tip of the nose is a bad thing but looking at the before and after of both 3D Models the 'character' of the nose is gone. The natural slope of the nose is gone and now it is a 'perfect' angle.

This may seem like a weird and entitled criticism but I think it is easy to reinforce strict beauty standards without realizing it. I pointed out that all your dark skinned characters have 'run of the mill' names like Frank, Macy, and Noah instead of 'unique' names rooted in Black culture eg. "John vs. Jamal, Barack vs. Barry". This may have been unintentional but I think that unconsciously you chose names that would 'appeal to the masses' while you gave some of the other villagers names that fit their culture "Zarah, Pablo, Rafael, Surya". Maybe having dark skinned characters with distinctly Black features and 'Black names' would have lowered their eligibility as love interests in many people's eyes but I think that having a 'proper' name is a horrible beauty standard as well.

Your game is already very diverse so my criticisms may feel like nitpicks but I am rooting for you in everyway.

Hello again! 😄 I was randomly thinking about ATLUS’s Catherine game and there is a part of the game where they casually tell you interesting alcohol trivia whenever you order a drink in the bar. I thought it would be really cool to see Noah or Frank working the tavern and telling you interesting trivia about foods and drinks that are popular / well known in different SEA countries while you eat said dishes in the tavern... For example, as a Filipino myself I know that Kare-Kare, Adobo, Sinigang and Turon are traditional dishes with different stories of their origin with interesting ingredients. 🌏🍽️

In essence, it would be great to see cooking that is “exotic” and unique from the food we always see in mainstream video games. I feel like players may become curious and decide to try the actual food/drinks they see in game.

Having SEA culture implemented into the everyday lives of Coral Island would be fun to experience too. Like, superstitions from different cultures would be fun to see in character events or just casual chats. For example, (Filipino superstitions I’ve grown up with:) every time I dropped a spoon my parents would say that I have a female visitor coming to see me. Also, wearing polka dots, having round fruits around and throwing coins at the strike of the New Year would bring good fortune. Not a superstition though...is the use of Vicks Vapour Rub: The Filipino cure-all. If you watched Jo-Koy you know. 😂 Also, slipper/flip-flops double as footwear and a tool of punishment for misbehaving children... 🩴🍃

I am just so excited to see a game with so many Southeast asian characters. I am a first-generation Canadian with my parents being Filipino immigrants way back when. It’s nice to be surrounded by cultures similar to my parents in contrast to the Canadian culture/environment I’ve lived all my life (and probably will be for the long run since travel is dangerous right now). Thanks for reading! 😊

In a similar vein to the nose comment, what immediately struck me about Alice's re-design is that her eyes appear incredibly big and shiny. It reminded me very much of that scene in Toy Story 2 where the creepy collector buffs Woody's eye with a cotton bud. Especially in contrast to all the male and/or asian characters who have much more naturally proportioned eyes it feels a little out of place imo? Again, this is absolutely nitpicking unless all female characters suddenly look like this, as in a Disney movie.

I had an idea inspired by a stardew mod, where after a certain heart level with npcs you can ask them to hang out with you or take a walk with you. They essentially follow you around while you go to diff areas and do tasks, and they can help you do a few things like harvest crops or fight monsters for you, as well as provide skill buffs like increased attack power or increased farming skill. I think it’d be a fun little feature and would encourage getting to know and spend time with all the npcs and not just the fan favorites

# placid flame In a similar vein to the nose comment, what immediately struck me about Alice's ...

I noticed that, too. 😦 While I love the Theo model, the Alice model has these huge glassy doll eyes that I...honestly really strongly dislike, especially when compared side by side with Theo. I've never been a fan of significantly out-of-proportion eyes in general--I actually find them super creepy--but that dislike is exponentially increased when male characters have normal eyes while female characters have eyes the size of teacups. Yes, people do have eyes of different shapes and sizes, but Alice's eyes are easily 3x the size of Theo's. I really hope they don't decide to go that route. Those two models don't even look like they belong in the same game to me.

NPCs/Romanceables with variable or changeable hair. This could be based on:

  1. Seasons - Spring/Summer hair could be shorter hair/ponytails/buns, Fall/Winter hair could be longer hairstyles (to go with the seasonal outfits like beanies!)
  2. Conversations/events - Interactive questions like spouse asking if he should change his hair, or a "couples special " at the salon

To lessen 2d/3d work, we could stick with 2-3 hairstyles options per character too.

I would love to have another farm-animal in the game at some point (no hurry!): Bee-hive!! Bee's produce honey and wax, and also pollinate your crops (make them grow faster/bigger). They don't need much care, just sometimes a treatment against diseases, and new frames to build more cells. You'll have to catch as swarm first. I do like the idea of a character changing something about themselves based on your influence. Rune Factory Frontier had a character who would lose weight if you encouraged them and even though I'm not really thrilled with that idea specifically, I do like the idea of dynamic relationships outside of marriage where you could make decisions for characters that tangibly change the character. Endgame Item Suggestion: Teleporter
I would love an item you could set down anywhere, and teleport to a list of dev-made spawn points. (Obviously endgame)

Endgame = You Completed the Hardest Tasks Already
Imagine expanding your machines off your farm and into a remote area of the island.
And all of your chests stored in an easily-accessed location to teleport.
And a quick teleport to a fishing zone, or the mines, or the blacksmith.
Or a teleport to the Merfolk Kingdom to romance your merfolk of choice.
Or if you're hanging out at the bar into the late night, to teleport back to the farm.

Making this an item (versus a consumable warp totem) just requires one major (probably really difficult) endgame craft that can be put anywhere.

Farming suggestion:
It would be amazing if we could use our own crops as fertilizer.
Different crops would give different boosts (like "faster growth" or "better crops")
You could combine these boosts and make your plants "evolve", giving you better quality crops that are more expensive.
There would be a "hidden" XP bar for the plants that if you water them everyday and fertilize them correctly they would "level up".

Another idea would be to have grafting be possible in game.
If you combine different plants (not random, specific plants) there's a change you would get a rare plant that you cannot buy a seed from the store. So you either find the seed in the wild, while exploring, or you need to graft your plants to get that specific crop.
And "higher level" plants would give you a higher chance of getting the "rare" plant.

Finally a research skill. Where you would be able to research a certain crop and see how it would affect another plant if used in grafting or as fertilizer.

These would be unlocked as you level up. So higher levels on the farming skills would gradually unlock first fertilizing, then research and finally grafting for example

Something like this!

The Teleport Stone in FOMT was a BITCH to get, but it was essentially the equivalent of a tool that would let you move anywhere you wanted on the map just by selecting the general area on it. I feel like that'd be a bit easier to keep track of than a network of warps for airheads like me that don't remember diddly about squat.

Officially dropping this here, but an Artisan Good creation phase would be really cool:
For example, if you grow milk and cocoa beans, make different types of chocolate by combining different amounts of the items.
Take that one step further by making flavored chocolates by adding in fruit or such.
Just something that would make late-game crafting a bit more experimental and "what can I create" than just chucking everything into a cheese maker without thought.

vital bison
#

Another farming idea
The same crop would have different textures/variants that would be rarer.

For example strawberry's are red by default but you could, by grafting them, get a different variat like pink or white strawberrys that would be rarer and have a low change of appearing, but they would sell for more money.

As you level up your farming skills (and unlock grafting) you can combine 2 strawberry plants and have a chance of getting those rarer variants (the higher the plant level, the higher the probability is)

So instead of creating entire new crops, with more models and animations, you would only add new colours to already existing objects

And easier alternative would be that if you plant a higher level crop you have a chance of getting the rare variant. Withou any extra skill of mechanic being added

And another thing I was thinking about: how is energy organised on the island? Karen wants to drill oil and there's an electronics shop and some power lines in some of the screenshots. So energy is being used. I know these type of games usually don't show the use of energy. But I think it would be really nice if the PC could promote the use of green energy, for example contribute to a community project for solar panels or wind turbines. Also as a way to counteract the oil drilling plans. It wouldn't have to be a big thing, but just as another way to help "clean up" the island.

I think that would be the most viable thing in terms of donations
Or for people who buy the game in a certain time frame (like earth month or smth) some of the proceeds would go towards charity but that way the ppl who already own the game couldn't really participate

Regarding Bug Reports for Alpha:

This suggestion is assuming there will be a bug report system separate from discord. If it's only going to be done via discord then just ignore me.

Thought of this while playing the Roots of Pacha Alpha. Let's say I find a bug, so I submit a report with screenshot. Well, I want to go back and see if i can replicate it, but how do I let the devs know that I replicated it (assuming the devs would want to know this)?

  1. I dont want to only report after I replicate something, because what if I for some reason can't replicate the bug and then I lose the screenshot of the initial glitch?
  2. I also don't want to submit 2 reports for the same problem.

So it might be nice if there's a way amend/update reports you've made. Not sure if it's possible, but it's a thought.
Alternatively, we could post in discord "Report of ____________ was able to be replicated" or something like that but idk if that would bloat the discord channel too much. (& at the very least, just take this as "food for thought" 🙂)

So I'm currently playing Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town and one thing that I really don't like about it is how the romantic festivals don't really give the marriage candidates time to shine. What I mean by this is that no matter who you choose to go with they'd have the same generic dialogue just said differently. For example, at the lantern festival one candidate may say: "I hope we stay together just like our lanterns"; while another candidate would say: "Do you think we'd stay together just like our lanterns?"

So if romantic festivals would be included in the game, please give us the chance to get to know these people better. Like maybe them recalling a memory or opening up about a subject that's very personal. It'd be even cooler if they'd have different dialogue depending on how far along you are with your relationship with them.

I know that cooking meat is an issue and we don’t want to kill our farm animals. So I was thinking that slaying the beasts inside the mines could solve this problem? Maybe even have a range of quality meats depending on which level of the mines and how high levelled it is? I know in real life there wouldn’t be large beasts living very deep inside mines (at least I hope so) so this could be a range of fantasy monsters? Sort of like FFXV’s recipes that look like our food but uses beast meat from the wild? 🥘🍔🍖

To continue on the topic of monsters, another suggestion. Instead of an automatically-filling bestiary with lore magically appearing in it, maybe you could have a character very knowledgeable in monsters, or at least researching them. You could meet them once in a while, and they would update your lorebook, if you'd have reached the required number of kills for a specific species (either: ''well, my fellow monster enthusiast, I see you kill as enthusiastically as I do, here is some post-butchery information, now go keep protecting the town form the god-forsaken horrors lurking below'' or ''waouh, are you bringing me 457 specimens of demon-goblin-sandbats? Oh boy, Iet me bring these corpses to my lab. next day, scribbled note arrives in the mail From your Friend the Monster Scientist (Diploma pending): Yep, as expected. They have two legs. You can add that to your Monstercyclopedia.'')

#

It wouldn't have to be a townie, by the way. Could just be someone visiting town once every week or something (it would be a cool travelling-biologist character, wandering across the islands to get proof that monsters exist - because somehow, noone beyond the archipelago really believes they exist, although the coral islanders know it). And you could meet that person again in the end-game island-hopping; maybe you'd get to actually know them then. It would be a fun end-game questline: get to finally know them, go on some adventures together (research / fetch / fight / ... quests) and triggering some cutscenes along the way, and maybe getting them to move to the island eventually).

#

Other suggestion: make use of the fact that this is an ISLAND to get some frequent boat-merchants or boat-visitors. How many games have harbours that are never used, except for one main-storyline-related quest, across the whole game! It would be awesome to get traders or recurrent visitors anchoring for a day!

#

Other suggestion: befriend-a-monster questline / pacify-a-monster-species questline, to turn them from foes to (tolerable, though slimy and toothy) friends. Although this might be ethically counter-productive with the monsters-as-meat suggestion stated above by melanie 😄

A weekend harbour market, maybe? A tropical twist to the regular flea market! 🏝️🛍️ Different item types every week maybe have some boat merchant exclusive items which are limited in stock. 💎 To balance out the harbour market with Ben’s caravan merchandise you could have the boat vendors have completely different stock than Ben’s. Or have Ben sell his items at lower prices since he is selling pre-used items. Ben’s stock will be randomized since he is presumably selling stuff he’s found lying around.

Incentives to Eat Crops/Dinners: Luck-Based or Max Energy-Based Increases for X Days
A (completely optional) reason to eat every day

Other farm sims give you a very very minor bonus to eating, but you can go a year without eating a thing. Mainly because the bonus only matters when you're fishing or mining for something, and usually it's silly to waste the profit.

What if eating any crop per day gave you a bonus on luck for up to 5 days, which stacked with up to the past four days, allowing a higher chance at silver or gold crops by the end of the season? By keeping yourself healthy and nourished, and consuming different foods (encouraging you to grow lots of different foods and not just the one that sells the most), you can consume low-quality crops to generate higher (silver, for example) quality stuff to sell later?

And if you cooked yourself a meal every day for 5 days, you could get an even higher cap of luck, generating a higher chance of receiving gold crops?

Example (I'm really terrible at math btw, dun't jujge mah maeth):
Monday: Ate 1 🥕 from garden +0.5 luck to crop quality
Tuesday: Ate 1 meal 🍔 cooked +1 luck to crop quality
Wednesday: Ate 1 🍓 from garden +0.5 luck
Thursday: Ate 1 🌽 , +0.5 luck
Friday: Ate 1 meal 🍕 cooked, +1 luck
On Friday, crops have +3.5 luck to crop quality increase
Saturday: Eat nothing on this day, +3 luck (because Monday expired)

Even if it's a little bit, it gives nice incentive to keep cooking and eating more. And the higher luck recipes can always be unlocked after a year or two is over, gating this to what's fair the first year or two (or even gating that season's luck bonus to crops during that season, and the recipes come the season after to ensure fairness, you're the experts so you'd know best).

(Added later: Great conversation about this went to general chat: #🐔coral-general message )

We've unlocked another goal! Now all KIDS—your children and the children around the island—will grow up to the teenage years. This feature will include additional stories and relationship development. There will be new schedules, dialogues, and many more! For the Player's children (you can have up to 2), there will be a variety of children's designs. The children will have their own personality and interest; you can influence this as they grow up, or let them discover it on their own. Worth noting that the children's characters/traits are not exactly tied to the spouse you marry.

Suggestion for expanding inventory: be able to stack stuff on your mount / on a work horse / beast of burden / specially trained cow... The animal would follow you around at your command (with some restrictions of course: not in the mines). It would be an immersive way of expanding the inventory and facilitating the "farm > gathering locations > shop" back-and-forths. [To clarify, following comment:] Not our partner pet (cat, dog...). Rather an actual farm animal, like people used to have donkeys and oxen to carry stuff for them, when going to sell their products to the town's market.

It’s been suggested by @idle oracle already, but oh my goodness, DUGONGS. Ever since I saw them mentioned I can’t get them out of my mind! Their natural habitat includes Southern Asia, though they used to be much more prevalent throughout all Asian waters. They are sadly very endangered. And it would be so perfect because dugongs used to be mistaken for mermaids! Which is actually where their scientific name, Sirenia, comes from! (Never mind that sirens are half-human half-BIRD mythological creatures, people used to get a lot of things mixed up!) I can totally imagine the merfolk commenting about how the dugong swim so gracefully they understand how people could mistake them for mermaids. 🥰 Our character wouldn’t even have to interact with them; it would just be so amazing to see the dugongs drifting along in the water! ❤️

I put this is #coral-questions-and-help a few days ago but was told it'd be better suited here so: Is there a need for captioning on specific actions/sounds that are integral to the game? One of the things that I enjoy about Minecraft is while there are some sounds that tell you whether something is nearby (Creeper hisses, Enderman teleporting, fish bobbing, etc.), they have an option for cc. I guess a workaround for cc would be similar to what ACNH does with fishing where the bobber going in the water has a specific vibration.

Suggestion: have a ''notebook'' option somewhere in the menu, in the inventory or even in our house, where we can freely write down stuff. With this suggestion, I'm thinking about all the people who cannot play every two-three days at least, but further apart, and who thus need to spend a bit of time fumbling around each time they get back to the game, trying to remember ''what the heck was I doing, and why did I leave a beehouse, a crab and a mug in front of my door - I obviously was up to something''.

Suggestion to add to the topic of: what does it cost to re spec your skill tree? It could cost: eating a certain amount and variety of dishes. It would be a neat way of giving another use to the cooking mechanism (which is often not-that-useful gameplay-wise, as discussed above already). Also it would provide kind of a challenge, by having you gather and cook various ingredients, instead of just paying a random amount of money to the magical skill-tree tree (HA!) that has the magical power of erasing and reprogramming your brain and muscle memory 😄 (Just kidding, maybe it's a magical piece of coral in this game, I don't know. No offense to magical trees or corals of any kind). Hey, the re-speccing could even be something the doctor would manage: you'd get an appointment, and they would give you a ''new diet'' depending on which amount of skill points you want to change: a quest for preparing and consuming a list of these dishes (hm, you don't consume the list of course). After all, when you want to become better at something in real life, you sometimes gotta change your food intake. More proteins for more muscles, carrots for better eyesight and pink thighs (...was it just my mother telling me that when I was little, or is it a real thing? ^^). But anyway: a doctor actually doctoring would be a nice side-effect of this mechanism (lookin' at you, Stardew Valley where Harvey has the chillest life of any doctor ever :p).

This is more about floor plans: floors and walls

Would it be possible to adjust the actual layout of the home, to make every home feel more unique and less... same house layout that everyone gets?

"Sets" like kitchens can be static, but could allow each house to customize its floor plan. The entrance/exit is a static tile so it doesn't have to move, and adjacent tiles ensure that the player can enter/leave no matter what is accidentally removed.

For people who love rooms, they can make lots of separations, and people who love open areas can just go wild (within static limitations).

I'm on my 4th Stardew Valley run and after upgrading the house I think... gawd this layout again? 😄

This might’ve been suggested before, although I’m not sure and just want to say something about it! I know this game is very heavily environmentally conscious, and with cleaning up coral reefs / the ocean there’s going to be chances that you will be collecting lots of trash! One thing that I’ve seen in real life is that people use these trash items, and recyclable items to turn them into things like park benches, sculptures, and other reusable items that people can use! I think it would be so interesting and cool if the trash you collected in the ocean, you could use it in the Town Hall community projects to make new items, and in general spruce up Coral Island! I think it would give trash some purpose other than just picking it up in the ocean. ♻️

I really like this idea! Maybe it could be where we have three or so presets for the house too, where it upgrades differently based on your preset (open concept, smaller, etc.), and if you have an upgraded house maybe you could change up each section of upgrades if you like a different house's preset customization more! (So, you chose the 'open concept' house at the start, and you upgraded to have a bigger room/double bed. You like the smaller house option's bedroom more, so you go talk to a builder shop or whatever lol and you now have the option to pay to change the style of your main house or the bedroom to the style you want) So then instead of just three presets, you have more variety within each room/upgrade!

I've been playing a lot of stardew valley lately and I've noticed that there are a lot of cutscenes where you're "forced" (there's no option to decline) to drink alcohol, and there's even an effect in the game that makes you drunk. I avoid drinking for personal reasons and have been really shaken by some of these scenes, so I wanted to suggest that if there are cutscenes that involve drinking alcohol (I know it can be a great bonding experience!) the player character has an option not to drink that doesn't negatively affect your relationship with the NPCs involved

Bringing this idea back up, I think having a compost bin in your yard or an organics bin in your kitchen that can create a bag of fertilizer everyday would be cool! ♻️ 🪱
The game can bring awareness to the use of compost bins if composting was an essential part to farming high-quality crops? 🌱 ⏫

(I remember as a child that my family and I would just dump all garbage into one bag and not separate bones and food scraps from the plastics and papers. I did not know that organics bins existed then. My middle school teacher brought us on a field trip to a waste management facility and showed us the complicated process of sorting out items (paper, plastics, organics, batteries, ect). Unsorted garbage is placed on a moving conveyor line and tired line workers will eventually miss items that should've been removed before the bulk is compressed at the end of the line and sent to their proper disposal/recycling sites. The environment can be negatively affected if the wrong things are accidentally dumped into garbage sites. This made me re-think about what I throw away especially batteries which are filled with chemicals. 🔋 🦴 🗑️ )

At the end of the day, I think we should be aware of where our garbage will end up which is definitely a strong message already being sent, but this includes organic waste too!

You can also go high-tech and have Bioreactors (large silos that decomposes organics at high speed) instead of regular compost bins and have renewable energy + fertilizer!!

@twilit siren, also mentioned the idea of turning trash into pieces of art which is really cool. It could become a landmark on the island and a constant visual reminder of all the hard work you've done cleaning up the environment! 😊 ⛲

Suggestion to use the cooking mechanism: make it so that we can create our own dish; this being targeted towards a larger thing explained below.

  1. How? > Being able to freely combine ingredients, from what we grow, gather or buy. For the visual aspect: maybe one-two generic images (steaming pot with a lid, unspecific brownish thing in an oven dish) that would be randomly picked as an item icon. Also the ability to name our creation (no, I'm not afraid by the idea of having my ''Chocolate Pie'' randomly matched with a slow-cooker image 😄 - all is possible)

  2. What's the point, and how to link it to the rest of the game? > It could be part of the development of the relationship with all the foodmakers in the game (taco truck cook, baker, tavern keeper): at some point they could ask for help/inspiration for a new ''special'' they'd serve in their shop... It could be a one-time thing, but I'd rather see it as a regular thing (weekly or monthly), and if the dish you suggested (cook once and bring it to them, so that they replicate and serve it) is successful (customers like it), you could receive a small reward. Maybe a friendship increase, or a discount in the shop for the month, or a few free items. They would renew their request every week.
It would nicely link together gameplay mechanisms, your own production, and storytelling.

#
  1. How would the ''success'' of a dish be measured? Would there need to be a whole new mechanism written for that, with some items being well-combinable, and others not? Not necessarily. It could be completely randomized (fun for the results [how come my peach-meat-dirt pie with kelp sauce was successful, and not my chocolate cake?!], but less interesting gameplay-wise, in my opinion; or it could be calculated from data already existing in the game. For instance: the game could scan the likes and dislikes of all NPCs, and assuming that all NPCs taste the special each month, grant 1 point per times the item is a like for someone. So if 7 persons like dragonfruit and 3 persons like eggs, and your dish has both, you'd end up with a 10 points dish. And there would be a hidden scale indicating success (0-20: epic fail, 20-40 meh, 40-60 ok dish, 60-80 general sucess, etc). There could also be substracted points per times the item is a dislike.

So... It would make for an interesting system to explore: you'd need to get to know pretty well what the NPCs like and dislike (and not just what they love the most, like in Stardew or My Time at Portia, where you end up always giving them the same gemstones or high-friendship-bonus items - with this food system to explore you'd need to test their likes and dislikes for random ingredients).

It would also keep up the interest for going to the shops, as this would be a really long-term quest-line.

  1. One could also imagine a bunch of ways to spice up that mechanism, so that players would not end up making always the same dish, once it would have been determined on the internet what is the most advantageous combination: the NPC asking help from you could specify a condition each time (''oh, I have oranges going bad, this week's dish needs to use them'' or ''use whatever you want except fish this time'' or ''brr it's a cold winter week, please make something with potatoes, cheese and extra fat''). It would encourage experimentation.
#
  1. UI suggestion: for this to be fun, and not too wiki-intensive, I think it would be a good thing to be able to see which inhabitants (or how many) like and dislike such and such ingredient from the cooking page/menu/whatever, for instance while hovering over the ingredient; this, of course, as long as you've already discovered this specific like/dislike in game by gifting the thing to them at least once. It would avoid A LOT of not-fun back-and-forths between the NPC info page and the cooking page.

I do hope this suggestion will be read through by the team (or at least, whoever's responsible for filtering all our dreams and wishes, in order to bring the worthy ones under the severe and scrutinizing eyes of the Holy Game Makers, who might refine them into actual gameplay ^^)

Other simulator games make it where specific events may not happen with the player (but other characters instead), but the option to "Hang Out" with the character is available. That lack of personalization/"connection" with the player is also no fun.

Why not have it to where you and the other characters can "hang out" and they accompany you as you still do what you need to? And if a certain heart event happens to be acquired in that time, then it happens once the player stops hanging out for that day? I can see a nice balance there between "I want to further my relationships with the other townsfolk," and "I have so much to do on my farm, so I can't visit the townsfolk."

to continue previous suggestion, and add some more moving to letter theme:
maybe we can write some letters every day/week (for some limited q-ty, like 5 only) for npc, this way we also can put their friendship points (like +5 points)📨
or even create some collage which one include - photos, flowers, nuts, notes about nature, ect. And this will be can created every season by 3 q-ty, so its more rare, and give like +20 points.💌

And also, maybe we can collect items in some collection of different things: such as shells, fish, flowers, beetles, ect.🐚
With thus, keep a journal of the island, as if we were explorers.🗺️

This might sound weird but it would be nice to get like photobook pictures with significant others that you can keep and maybe use to decorate. Maybe there's one or two in different areas and they can be kept. Maybe have different poses.

Would also be nice if family photos (if you choose to have one) could be used to decorate your home and just to have taken. Even if it's just an interaction and they appear.

Any chance that birds could be “caught” via net and brought to the museum alongside bugs and fish? Could be a great way to differentiate the game from others like animal crossing

A communal bath house or a hot spring is most likely planned... and it would be nice if the townsfolk have a bathing schedule. The bath house in Stardew Valley was kind of eerie with the lack of visitors... The bath house outfits could be their beach outfits if creating art assets is an issue but having a classic towel wrap would be a nice touch! ♨️☺️

Speaking of, I had a suggestion about getting things for the museum as well! What if there was a system where we could leave something like nuts or honey in areas like trees or bushes maybe (like how you could leave honey on a tree in Pokemon) to attract bugs to catch (and birds to photograph)?

native terrace
#

If there could be bird feeders on our farm/around town that we could fill with different kinds of seeds or crops to attract different birds, that might be a neat way to influence what we see around town.

I'm noticing in the Developer Diary page a lot of "prompt" updates. Does this mean that pop ups or "word bubbles" (for lack of a better term) will appear whenever our character can interact with something?
If this is the case, I might suggest toggling that as a setting. I find prompts like that in video games super distracting and it pulls me out of the world around me. It makes me feel like the game is babysitting me and telling me what I can and can't do. I can figure out when to press A to talk to a villager or refill a watering can on my own. I don't need the game constantly reminding me of it.
So if this is something that is put into the game, maybe have it as an option that can be turned off and on for emersion.

I'm sorry if this has already been suggested. I'm new here and I scrolled through some suggestions but never saw anything.
Stardew Valley had a system where marrying an NPC would allow that NPC to help out around the farm and live with you. I found this system very bad, as they don't actually do very much. They will sometimes water 5 plants around the farm, or feed the animals, but that's not very often.
If there is some way to improve this system, I think the marriage system would be a lot better.

(With the things I've heard about the marrage system already, it's far better than the one in Stardew Valley. This is more of just what your partner and child actually end up doing to help you)

lament coyote
#

In the same line of thought, itd be cute if each partner did something a little different. In stardew they all do the same things for you and they end up losing their unique character. For example, all spouses in stardew would (sometimes) water and cook for you. But what if the doctor specifically made you healthy dishes? Or gave you medicine/energy stuff? Maybe a miner spouse could sometimes be like "hey i just got back from an expedition and found this!"

Animation Interruptions
I love seeing all the animation updates in #📓coral-developer-diary

As animations are being created, can you please consider movement action-cancellation in each action? (In other words, moving the d-pad lets you move on to the next task after you've seen the animation 1000x before)

Example:

  • Filling the water can's animation is, say, 5 seconds.
  • Pulling a crop is 2 seconds.
  • There's 30 crops to pull in a line.
  • Planting the seed takes next to no time, but...
  • Watering each seed (usually the worst culprit in farming games) in that row is 3 seconds for all 30.

These add up to 3-4 minutes of player time. By allowing someone with a lot of stuff to do in the day, stopping the animation and making it a split seconds allows more time to visit NPCs, romantic interests, or find players walking around town. Walking usually takes the longest of the whole day, so saving those precious seconds is really nice so you don't miss someone in town.

Much appreciated for the work you're doing, keep at it. 🙂

Everything in the dev update looks awesome!! I do agree that in the final game more body types would be good though- it seems odd that there's not even a muscular female option with the muscular male body

i dont wanna repeat what everyone's said already but Yes Please to more body types and just bc its a bit more specific- more androgynous bodies! no chest but curvy hips, masc shoulders w/ some curves, feminine face w/ beards, etc etc! i think smth a lot of ppl miss out on is the pure variety that nb ppl can play w/ gender and i wanted it noted even if it ends up being a Bit too ambitious to do for the end-game 💕

Agreeing with everyone- fit bodies, curvy bodies, plus size bodies. Know this is already being worked on but always helps. Love that it’s customizable to the point of running styles. Carpenter shop is BEAUTIFUL. Y’all are doing amazing

Yeah for sure! It's something for the future, definitely not a set in stone thing. I'm just super excited to see that the devs are open to our suggestions, AND i'm ALSO super stoked they're developing things like unique animations as well to make customization even more in depth!! that stuff is always so awesome roisinlove

I see a lot of ppl mentioning more body types but I also hope there will be options to have long/short hair regardless of chosen gender? Since in the screenshots it looks like the options for a masc avatar are limited to only short hairstyles?

I think that is actually the screenshot only showing one page for the hairstyles not that it is the hairstyles matching that body type.

We also have to remember, most of this is to flesh out animations and get the ball rolling for alpha. This does not indicate anything for early access or release. They have said in the past that nothing is gender locked and that there will be a few body types.

Was going to also ask for this. Would be so great to finally have a game that included androgynous/ non binary characters. To be able to choose your preferred gender pronouns and have access to all the different body types/ hairstyles etc. would be a first and would be amazing!

Body hair. Please please please body hair.

Please.
Please please. I beg. Please.

I don't look like those bodies. I know it's more of a Western/European thing, but if there's no chest hair, it doesn't look like me, and I don't feel like I'm playing me, but someone else. People with body hair are often shamed for not looking beautiful, and I think I'm beautiful.

Other Eastern country-based games rarely put chest hair, and force you to mod, but I can't mod on a Nintendo Switch. 😢

The 4th Jog cycle is BY FAR the best one of the 4. I really hope they pick that one.

rustic fern
#

My suggestion would be sliders for body types. Even with the preset body types, the ability to add breasts to any body type would be ideal, along with sliders to increase or decrease the size of the chest, shoulders, hips, and waist. If hair styles and honorifics will not be chained to one body type, then as long as it's feasible, being able to customize all the body types to fit everyone's needs would be made very simple with those two features.

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but maybe two or more tones of hair, and different color eyes. The updates look awesome, stay safe and healthy! Strawberry

#

Honestly, those jog cycles could each be attached to a different body frame. I know it'd be more work, and probably wouldn't happen in the long run, but it would make the characters a bit more unique.

Also, the option to have heterochromia (eyes of two different colors) would be nifty!

#

I feel as though the head size does not fit the style. The bodies are too realistic compared to the size of the head. The quality of both are sublime, I'm a big fan of how they individually look
But the proportions are throwing me off. In the overhead view, the character model in the jogging animation looked fine but the frontal view looks odd. Maybe I'm being a bit too picky, or the larger head serves a purpose, either way just a suggestion ^^

proper tartan

I think the necks are a bit too thick for the bodies they're attached to. It makes the characters look very top-heavy and out of proportion. Thinner necks could possibly fix this?

i would suggest including body shapes other than really in shape people. There definitely needs to be some diversity. Many people don't fall under "fit, thin, or buff" body shapes and its very limiting for self expression.

I think it's great they're putting so much into creation, from what I've read we're not limited to hairstyles or other features based on the body-type? I hope it's also possible to mix clothing styles with body-types, like skirts on the 'buff' type as well as on slimmer or larger builds.

I think it looked sort of like there might be possible color wheel style customization for some stuff like hair/eye options?

I'd like to know at some point if you'll be able to customize outfit colors?

Other cool stuff might be like, possible custom crop breeding? Not like choose the color but you know how they can make an apple that tastes like cotton candy, or citrus fruits crossbred for color or taste? That would be an interesting sort of farming puzzle. But that's something I'd imagine for late game unless it was an accidental kinda thing that could just happen because of certain planting patterns?

I would suggest ignoring the haters and powering through - you clearly have an idea that resonates with quite a large audience, and as with anything online, you WILL get a good number of loud angry narcissists that MUST have THEIR version and ONLY their version. Pay attention to the actual results and notice that the companies that constantly kowtow and capitulate NEVER stop getting increasingly angry demands, and decreasing market share - whereas companies that ignore or even blow off the angry narcissists see them go away, while their market share remains the same or increases.

There is a lot to do until alpha release. I adore how you didn’t give us one but THREE body shapes. My suggestion is, for the next previews on character customization, show people with clothes on so there is no people feeling not having their particular body-shape represented in the game.
IE, stardew valley has only one body shape but given that is fully clothed everyone can think what they want about the body of the character, and everyone can be projected into the main character of the game

Im unsure if this has been suggested before, but It would be nice to be able to choose what your default unclothed / swimwear appears as. I know other farming sims when you go into spas and the such just default you to "shirtless swim trunks" or "bikini top/bottom". Its not a necessary feature that by no means need to be implemented now, but itd mean a lot to people who are gender nonconforming and such.

Also I just wanted to say from looking at the devlogs, im so excited for the alpha. The Devs are putting so much effort in and doing their best to listen, and it means a lot and is not going unnoticed. Love the new concepts for the building, and the new facial sculpts are looking fantastic.love

I'm not sure what the plan for pets exactly is, but it'd be nice if there was an option to have whatever pet you choose follow you wherever you go, even into town. Maybe even have some commands for them like "stay" so they'll sit outside shops and wait for you. Somewhat like how you can have partner pokemon in some of those games. Sorry if this has been suggested before! Or if this is already the plan

#

@slender echo I'm not sure what the plan is either but that would be sooooo cute. I hope your pets can help you wrangle your livestock too like in Harvest Moon. Save the Homeland you got a flute that you could play to train your dog certain audible comands. That would be a neat addition.

Regarding character customization.. This is kind of a personal desire that people may or may not relate to. But I am a ciswoman with a pretty defined cleft chin which is something I used to feel self-conscious about - now I adore my chin. I NEVER see cleft chins in character customization for video games!

If there could be the option to have one that would just be the icing on the cake for me 😊 I know it's a silly, little thing to care about so I'm not gonna be upset if it's not an option, this is just an idea

If not for the vanilla game, maybe this is an idea for a mod?

Oh another suggestion, having a mirror or some such where you can go back and change your characters appearance at any point in game in case you aren't happy with it or no longer like it. Or just feel like it fits your character story-wise. So not just hair but skin tone, shape, etc. Can't remember what they're typically called in games.. mirror of transformation or smth?

Hi folks, is me again 🙂
Like I sayd before... "I play some farm games, and what I really miss is some "farmers events" (I'll try to explain), when I was young, I'd play Harvest moon, and my two perfect/favourit events of my life until today, is the horse race and the animals contests. But, sadly, (Huge sadly for me), i never see a game wich have this today. So, after this nutts frustrade explanation, here's my sugestion; add events like those in Coral Island (Animals contests, and horse's race)! If you do, made shure tha my dream is done. AND, are you doing a different kind of interactions with pets? Cause wold be so cool if we had, like frisbee, achrobatics skills (basics of course)...
