USB mics have come a long way in the last few years. Wave 3 has controls built into it and is meant to be more plug and play. XLR mic (such as the DX) will require you to also have either the wave XLR or the XLR PRO (or even the XLR Dock if you have the stream deck +)

The Wave Link 3 installation is not letting me change where the driver is installed to. I click OK when I select a diffrent folder, but nothing.

XLR mics like the DX don't have any features built into them; in this case all of the Wave features would come from the XLR interface instead. The better comparison would be between the Wave XLR + mic and the Wave:3

XLR Pro is basically a bigger version of the Wave XLR, so you wouldn't really be using those two together regardless. As for the new Wave:3 mic, that runs over USB so you wouldn't be using it with their XLR products

I don't really want my keyboard to be heard either. But the Wave 3 Mk 2 still looks good for handling the keyboard sound, I guess

I'd argue that DX plus the new Wave XLR would be better, but there is a wrinkle in that the USB mics and the DX are different types of microphones (condenser vs dynamic) and each have their strengths and weaknesses

Wave Link 3 was what they referencing, it's now built on the native framework inside Windows 11, which do not exist in Windows 10.

Microsoft doesn’t play around with their legacy requirements so you may be able to plug it in and likely be able to get an audio from it but software just won’t Work

For what it’s worth Elgato aren’t impeding Linux support development for any of their hardware. Hence what’s happening in the capture card scene lately. But they’ve said many times they can’t dedicate resources to porting their softwares to Linux until the user based grows to justify it.

And as for wave link, they saw the end of support for win10 as an opportunity to start fresh and so wavelink 3 has been a complete rewrite using frameworks that only exist in win11. That includes the underpinnings of the UI, as well as something under the hood in the audio system functions.

But the audio hardware are all UVA so they work on any device that works with class compliant devices. As PS5 being an example.

Yes, getting rid of it before installing the new one is recommended to prevent breaking conflicts. The app should prompt you to remove it during install, but better safe than sorry just in case.

It populates that list from the same source as Windows Sound Mixer. If your app isn't showing up there, check if it has it's own configuration for audio outputs and point it at the Wave Link channel manually from it's own settings.

Specifically four Wave devices. You can use the other 8 for Elgato capture cards if you wanted

Once you've combined them into one mix you can no longer split them apart. It'd be like trying to unmix paint colours. You may need to look into a different solution if you need to preserve multi channel audio on the streaming machine, instead of just sending it your ready mixed audio.

If you updated to Wave Link 3, make sure you also udpated to the Wave Link 3 plugin - the old plugin won't work with 3. Likewise the 3 plugin won't work if you're still on 2. If your versions match and you're still having issues, ask over in #wave-audio

You may need to look into repairing your Windows Installer Service if you can't open MSIX files. You can try restarting the AppX Deployment in the services management console (Press Windows Key + R and type services.msc in the box that comes up and press OK to get there) to start with. You might also be able to find errors from it trying to open in the Event Log. Beyond that it's a question for the #wave-audio channel.
On older builds of Windows 11 you might also need to get the "App Installer" from the Microsoft store, but it's integrated on newer builds.

Make sure you uninstall both Wave Link 3, and the Wave Link 3 driver package before re-adding 2. Otherwise the Wave Link 3 drivers will interfere there, which is likely why it won't see the device.
If you already reinstalled 2, you'll need to make sure all three things are removed, WL3, WL3 drivers, and WL2, then reboot and reinstall Wave Link 2 to be sure you get a clean install

i think elgato missed the mark with the new stream deck XL being that it only has 36 key .... look at it like this the mini has 6 key and priced for about 60 bux ok not bad then there is the stream deck 15-key version adding 9 keys from the mini priced around 150 again not bad then there is the 32-key version and adds more then double keys priced around 250 bux getting a bit expansive but understandable fast forward to the stream deck XL that has 6 dials a screen and 36 keys thats just 4 keys more then the 32-key version and at the price its a hard sale it would make more sense if it had 10 keys or more at least for the price point elgato wants to sell it at and i understand its a premium product and the stream decks do a great job at what they do but i would of rather seen more buttons then dials and while the screen is sorta cool its a not needed this is just my two cents on the product and were all allowed to have thoughts and opinions

Anyone else notice how the level of a channel affects how much volume is going into plugins on that channel? Which is obviously a huge problem for dynamics plugins if you want to ever change the volume of the channel. Changing the mix level is fine but just a concern

Yeah, that's not right. Especially since there is not currently any linking of mix faders across each channel, so that's the only way to adjust all mixes on a channel as a group.

That's apparently a file system type error. What format is your main drive? NTFS or something else like exFAT or even the older FAT32?

Sorry if you're still having issues with it, the convo shoud move over to #wave-audio not the general chat. But if the drive you're trying to install the app to is NTFS and you're still getting that error you might also want to open a ticket with support through the link in #official-tech-support

There is no ETA for any other regions, it's up to your local shops to order them, like PB Tech

Not sure how good they are, just googled elgato australia heh

But yeah, the MK2 Dock offers the Wave FX chip which will allow you to have Onboard effects without adding any latency, and also the VST Insert and Direct Monitoring toggles, alongside better and stronger amp

So if you want or need any of those features, I'd say go for it

I do want the XLR Pro instead when it releases, but that's because I run several systems so it would be better for me

yeah I only have the stream deck xl from elgato and rode caster pro 2 as a mixer and I really want to try the new elgato app so I need xlr input I was going to buy the xlr dock but it's not compatible with Stream Deck + XL

Tried the wave XLR MK 2 yesterday as well as the stream deck + XL. Both of them are amazing. The ability for the gain to be set automatically once you say a sentence for 5 seconds will save me loads of time. The onboard effects on the XLR MK2 are amazing too

Hi, anyone know if the Wave XLR Mk.2 is already available in Germany ? I see that it is on the Elgato Website, and you can technically buy it, but I wonder where it gets shipped from if i order it in Germany. Does it also come from the US or is there a warehouse it comes from in Europe / Germany when I order it here, and how long can it take to ship right npw ? Since they were so smart and remove the previous Wave XLR, which i could have gotten quick.

anyone have a fix or having this issue? upgraded to wave link 3.0 and now my pc wont sleep. says wave link is using my mic at all times. on wave link 2.0 if i had my audio routed to my speakers it would trigger the same thing but if i switched audio to headphones it would shut the mic icon off (mic still worked) but my pc would be able to sleep.

Correct. A lot of the hardware might work on Linux, especially things like the UVC based USB capture cards, but there's no official support or official apps. There are some community projects for some of it, but nothing official from Elgato.

Mostly to make sure you report them to support as well. While they're looking at the reddit a proper ticket gives them a way to reach out and get more info or logs if needed.

So if you have issues open a ticket through the link in #official-tech-support - either the phone line link in there to call it in, or the link to the help system where the chat bot can open a ticket for you

Installing 3 will result in issues with 2's drivers. You need to make sure 3 and the Wave Link 3 driver pack are removed then reinstall 2 for best results. Ideally reboot between removing it and adding it back

You can back up your Wave Link 2 settings if you haven't already before removing it

It's you're seeing the eject USB for your mic since updating, yes, send to have been a change with the new drivers in 3

If you're talking about the one in my screenshot that's actually fit the SD card reader on my USB dock

I just updated to the new elgato software and now it wont allow my monitor to go to sleep, ill exit the program and the monitor will then go to sleep

It would be great to have multiple mixes that can be saved. For instance if Im playing VR i need a certain setup, if I am recording a yt video, I need a different setup. This is considering my day to day mix already uses 5 outputs and 7 channels
